The Journey of Chongzi Episode 33 Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
Chong Zi, dressed in mortal attire, arrived at Xichun Restaurant, ordering fine pastries and Luo Yinfan's favorite wine, eager to celebrate their promised reunion. She waited from early morning until nightfall, then for two full days and nights, steadfastly refusing to leave, fearing that Luo Yinfan might come and not find her. Exhausted, she eventually collapsed. Before that, she was harassed by a street ruffian, whom she nearly killed before stopping herself, remembering that her master would disapprove.
Mu Yu found her and brought her back to Shuiyue City. Upon waking, Chong Zi was heartbroken, tearfully lamenting that she was a complete fool for believing Luo Yinfan's promise to abandon everything for her, only to be abandoned once more. She even questioned Mu Yu, suspecting him of preventing Luo Yinfan from coming. Mu Yu, however, reassured her of his unwavering loyalty, promising to accompany her to Nanhua or wherever she desired, always by her side.
Meanwhile, Luo Yinfan, stripped of his memories of Chong Zi, had reverted to his stern and distant self. Min Yunzhong and Yu Du discussed the escalating threat from the demon race following Qinghua Palace's weakened state. Luo Yinfan, despite his memory loss, insisted on personally addressing the demonic disturbance. At Chonghua Palace, Ting Xue capitalized on Luo Yinfan's amnesia, fabricating a story about being his disciple whom he had rescued and promised to protect.
She presented a special pastry, a Jade Wheel Cake, as a false memory trigger. Luo Yinfan, disoriented by the gaps in his memory, gradually accepted Ting Xue as his disciple, even defending her when Min Yunzhong expressed skepticism. Ting Xue later gloated in Chong Zi's former room, thrilled to have usurped her place. Qin Ke confronted Ting Xue, horrified that Luo Yinfan no longer recognized Chong Zi.
Ting Xue shamelessly admitted to manipulating Luo Yinfan's fragmented memories, asserting that since Chong Zi could no longer fill the role of his disciple, she was the ideal replacement. She cynically noted that no one in Nanhua or the immortal sect wished for Luo Yinfan to remember Chong Zi, and with Min Yunzhong's implicit approval, she would remain his sole disciple. Qin Ke, disgusted by her selfish actions, condemned her as unworthy. Ting Xue defiantly vowed to surpass Chong Zi.
Wang Yue observed Chong Zi's profound disappointment, believing her suffering would ultimately awaken her to the illusory nature of mortal love. Yin Shuixian, however, accused Wang Yue of deriving pleasure from others' pain. Wang Yue defended his actions as a means to help Chong Zi achieve true power. Later, Yin Shuixian advised a desolate Chong Zi to consider reconciling with Wang Yue and the demon tribe, as Luo Yinfan had clearly abandoned her.
Chong Zi, acknowledging Wang Yue's underlying motives, reluctantly agreed. Yin Shuixian also recounted the story of Jinchi, who willingly sacrificed centuries of demonic cultivation for a mere thirty years of mortal life with Lady Bai, freeing her from a painful blood thorn implanted by the immortal sect. Yin Shuixian deeply sympathized with their choice, recognizing the profound value of love over immortal longevity.
Wang Yue then formally announced the imminent opening of the Hundred-Eyed Demon Cave, a momentous event for the demon tribe, as it would release potent demonic energy and birth a powerful demon beast. He appointed Chong Zi as the leader of the demon army to subdue the Hundred-Eyed Celestial Demon in the East Sea, with Tian Zhixie and Yin Shuixian as her lieutenants.
Yin Shuixian eagerly accepted, hoping to obtain the Longevity Herb from the cave to extend Xueling's life by sixteen years. Xueling, having recovered some of his memories, assured Yin Shuixian that their past as master and disciple was behind them, and he cherished their current bond as husband and wife, having gained clarity about his feelings.
In Nanhua, Min Yunzhong informed Luo Yinfan and Yu Du about the opening of the Hundred-Eyed Demon Cave and the emergence of a demon beast, fearing the chaos it could unleash if the demon tribe succeeded. Luo Yinfan immediately volunteered to lead the expedition to subdue it. Ting Xue insisted on accompanying him. Min Yunzhong then warned Luo Yinfan about a treacherous new demon general named "Demon Zi," portraying her as cunning and ruthless.
Luo Yinfan, having no recollection of such a figure, vowed to eliminate her. Meanwhile, Zhuo Yao, the former Qinghua Palace Master, visited Yu Du, explaining that he had stepped down to heal his son, Zhuo Hao, who had been gravely wounded by Demon Zi. Zhuo Yao expressed his deep concern for Zhuo Hao and implored Yu Du to look after his son should anything happen to him, ensuring he would not stray from the right path.
Yu Du assured him that Nanhua would safeguard Young Master Zhuo. Chong Zi, Mu Yu, and Yin Shuixian arrived at the East Sea, where dark clouds gathered and thunder roared, heralding the Demon Cave's opening. Mu Yu warned Chong Zi that a monster would soon emerge and urged her to use the Eye of the Demon God, given by Wang Yue, to quickly subdue it before the immortal sect intervened. A colossal demon monster burst from the tumultuous waters.
Chong Zi bravely engaged it, using the Eye of the Demon God to disable it by taking its eyes, leaving it severely wounded but not lifeless. At that critical moment, Luo Yinfan descended, instantly slaying the beast with a single sword stroke. Ignoring Mu Yu's desperate pleas, Chong Zi rushed towards Luo Yinfan, determined to confront him about his broken promise.
With a cold, expressionless face and a slight furrow of his brows, Luo Yinfan gazed at her with detached disdain and uttered, "Are you Demon Zi?" His words crushed Chong Zi's last glimmer of hope and resolve.
