The Journey of Chongzi Episode 15 Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
Chong Zi leaned weakly in Luo Yinfan's arms, telling him that her short life had been filled with beautiful memories given by him, and she had no regrets dying in his hands. She also felt relieved that there would be no afterlife for her. As Luo Yinfan carried her away, some onlookers expressed relief that a potential catastrophe had been averted.
Others questioned where he was taking her, urging him to bury her corpse under Nanhua Mountain to prevent her from returning. Luo Yinfan firmly declared he would not go anywhere else and was taking her home. Back in Chonghua Palace, Luo Yinfan was overwhelmed by grief. The once vibrant Purple Bamboo Peak now felt quiet and empty without Chong Zi.
He recalled her voice everywhere and lamented that he could no longer accompany her to the Mortal World or taste her desserts. Even the perfectly arranged books on her desk made him feel lost. He imagined carving a small sculpture of Chong Zi to place beside his own, so they could be together, undisturbed.
Overcome with self-reproach, he cried out that it was all his fault for failing to protect her, for having to witness her death by the sword without being able to do anything. He felt undeserving of being her master. With a heavy heart, he then plunged the Zhubo sword into the stone beam of the hall door, embedding it to the hilt.
Elsewhere, Zhuo Hao learned of Chong Zi's death from his father, Zhuo Yao, and initially refused to believe it. He asserted that Luo Yinfan doted on her and would never be so cruel. Zhuo Yao confirmed the news, explaining that Luo Yinfan had placed righteousness above personal feelings, killing her for the greater good, and Chong Zi had died with deep resentment. Enraged, Zhuo Hao struggled against his father, demanding to go to Nanhua to understand what had happened.
Zhuo Yao restrained him, pointing out that even if he knew the truth, Chong Zi would not return, and he was no match for Luo Yinfan, barely able to survive one of his moves. Zhuo Hao defiantly declared that even if he couldn't defeat Luo Yinfan now, he would cultivate for ten, twenty, or even a hundred years, until the day he could personally kill Luo Yinfan and make him pay for Chong Zi's life.
Zhuo Yao expressed concern that Zhuo Hao's obsession might lead him to become a demon. Meanwhile, Qin Ke attempted to enter the Purple Bamboo Peak, but was blocked by the barrier Luo Yinfan had set up. He expressed his frustration to Yu Du, wishing only to see Chong Zi one last time and angered that someone heartlessly prevented others from mourning. Yu Du acknowledged Qin Ke's upset but explained Luo Yinfan's difficult position.
If Luo Yinfan had not acted, the entire Immortal World would have faced a catastrophe, not just the Nanhua Sect, leading to countless deaths. Qin Ke countered, asking if Chong Zi deserved to die, and if the common people were innocent. Yu Du elaborated that for Luo Yinfan, protecting the six worlds was both his responsibility and his burden. He had to be cautious, as one wrong step could lead to disaster.
Yu Du stated that no one could imagine Luo Yinfan's bitterness or the magnitude of his sacrifice, and therefore, no one was qualified to blame him. Qin Ke, however, simply lamented his own powerlessness, unable to do anything but watch Luo Yinfan kill Chong Zi. Yu Du advised Qin Ke to channel his emotions into strengthening his mind and cultivation.
In the demon realm, Wang Yue's subordinate reported that while they failed to reclaim the Holy Sword, the immortals also failed to purify it. Wang Yue was surprised that both the sword and Chong Zi were gone. When asked about their next move, Wang Yue instructed them to "keep waiting." He asserted that, like Demon King Ni Lun who became a demon after three lives, Chong Zi's journey had only just begun.
He was prepared to wait as long as necessary, confident that one day he would lead his people from their barren land to their rightful place. A bright white light flashed over Nanhua. Mu Yu wondered why Luo Yinfan had gone to the Six-world Monument. Yu Du had also intended to check on Luo Yinfan at Purple Bamboo Peak but was informed he had gone to the Six-world Monument, a place known for peaceful cultivation.
Yu Du concluded Luo Yinfan sought solitude and decided not to disturb him. At the Six-world Monument, Luo Yinfan made a solemn vow, citing ancient texts that allowed all beings in the six worlds to make an offering to the monument for a small return. He asked for nothing for himself, only that his disciple Chong Zi be reborn. In return, he pledged the remainder of his life to dedicated cultivation and the revival of the God Realm.
His sincerity touched the higher realms, and Chong Zi's spirit was guided to reincarnate as a newborn infant. Luo Yinfan gently cradled the baby, his heart softening. He then descended from the mountain, heading towards Yangzhou City, determined to give Chong Zi a simple, happy life in her second incarnation.
Passing through a tea shop in Yangzhou, Luo Yinfan was recognized by a young Taoist priest named Hai Sheng, who gratefully recounted how Chong Zi had saved his life from poison. Hai Sheng explained that Chong Zi had also encouraged him to found a sect dedicated to helping those in need, and had specifically asked him to hang Luo Yinfan's portrait in his main hall if he wished to express gratitude.
Luo Yinfan was deeply moved, silently wondering how many other kindnesses Chong Zi had performed for him. Hai Sheng, now leading a thriving sect, assured Luo Yinfan that he upheld Chong Zi's teachings and would continue to help others. Hai Sheng also directed Luo Yinfan to Wen's Mansion, praising Mr. Wen as a generous and respected man in Yangzhou.
Later that evening, as Luo Yinfan entered Yangzhou City amid a heavy snowfall, he was warned by a watchman about rampant demons preying on the populace, urging him to leave with the baby. Luo Yinfan calmly stated that Yangzhou City would be peaceful and prosperous for the next few decades, leaving the watchman baffled. Luo Yinfan then quietly observed from a distance as Mr. and Mrs. Wen discovered the baby he had left on their doorstep.
The couple, touched by the infant's cries in the snow, lovingly took her into their home, naming her Wen Zi. Seeing their tender care, Luo Yinfan felt a sense of peace. He spoke softly to himself, expressing his hope that this ordinary life, with loving parents and lasting tranquility, would be his only contribution to her, and that they would never meet again.
He wished for her to forget him and all her past sorrows, living a life of happiness and peace, while he would use every means to protect her from afar. Following this, Luo Yinfan submerged the Starlight staff into the seabed, where he unexpectedly discovered and began to cultivate the Mirror Heart Skill, making significant progress. Decades passed, as fleeting as a blink for immortals.
Chong Zi faded from memory, partly due to time and partly by deliberate omission, while the immortals continued to guard the human world against encroaching demons. Thanks to Luo Yinfan's personal vigilance over Yangzhou City, its people lived in peace and prosperity. The Wen couple raised Wen Zi as their own, creating a truly happy family. Sadly, Mrs. Wen passed away prematurely, and Mr. Wen remarried. Years later, Mr. Wen fell gravely ill.
Wen Zi, accompanied by Uncle Wen, went to a temple to pray for her father. Looking at the revered portrait of Sage Chonghua, she felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, as if she had seen him in her childhood. Uncle Wen, however, dismissed her feeling as fanciful. Suddenly, Wang Yue appeared, brazenly helping himself to the offerings. His irreverence angered the villagers, but Wen Zi, known for her intelligence and kindness, intervened.
She urged the crowd not to desecrate such a propitious day with violence, noting that despite his ignorance, the man seemed to bear no ill will. The villagers reluctantly backed down, but insisted Wang Yue leave. Wang Yue thanked Wen Zi, who was puzzled by his use of "again," as they had just met. He merely explained she resembled an old acquaintance. Wen Zi then lectured him on respecting the Nanhua Sages for ensuring Yangzhou's hard-won peace.
Wang Yue challenged her conviction, but Wen Zi steadfastly affirmed the sages' goodness. He then subtly suggested she try to join Nanhua Mountain during their quinquennial recruitment next month, assuring her she could succeed despite her doubts. Wen Zi diligently cared for her ailing father. Her stepmother, however, harbored ill intentions, plotting to seize the family inheritance. One day, the stepmother overheard a conversation between Mr. Wen and Wen Zi, revealing that Wen Zi was an adopted orphan.
That night, Wen Zi dreamed she wandered into an immortal mountain, finding herself before the Patriarch's Hall. Looking up, she saw the Tianmo Token glowing with red light, an image that felt strangely familiar to her.
