Blossoms in Adversity Episode 29 Recap
> Blossoms in Adversity Recap
With a single command from Gu Yanxi, the Qixiu Guards launched a full assault, forcing Prince Xian into a corner. After escorting Hua Zhi out of the room, Gu Yanxi closed the door behind her. Hua Zhi alerted the people in the main hall to evacuate Tangxi Tower immediately. Just as they were about to capture Prince Xian alive, another group of people jumped in through the window.
Amidst the chaos, the table hiding the Sixth Prince was overturned, revealing him to everyone. Gu Yanxi shielded the Sixth Prince, while Prince Xian took the opportunity to escape, and the Sixth Prince, terrified, slipped away quietly. Hua Zhi was walking with the crowd toward the exit when she turned and saw the Sixth Prince, then quickly doubled back, pulling him into the kitchen to hide. On their way out, they were discovered by Eunuch Wei.
In a moment of desperation, Hua Zhi launched a sleeve arrow, killing Eunuch Wei on the spot. After Gu Yanxi found Hua Zhi, he sent Chen Qing to escort them to safety. The Sixth Prince told Hua Zhi what had happened that day, and she immediately informed Chen Qing that someone was trying to assassinate the emperor.
Gu Yanxi successfully apprehended Prince Xian in the street, and upon hearing Hua Zhi’s message, he rushed back to the palace and ordered the imperial physician to remove Gu Chengtao’s robe and search for any needle marks on his body. The women of the Hua family wept as they looked upon the ashes of the burned-down Hua residence. Hua Zhi, heartbroken by the destruction of the home she had painstakingly built, simply said, “As long as everyone is safe.
” Manager Bai suggested they temporarily move into private rooms at Tangxi Tower while they made further plans. The imperial physicians searched thoroughly but found no needle marks on Gu Chengtao’s body. The court eunuch Jixiang said that Emperor Qing had caused the deaths of his adoptive parents and left him without a home, which was why he hated the emperor. Though the home was destroyed, Hua Zhi managed to recover some silver ingots from the ruins.
Even though Manager Bai had lost the competition, Hua Zhi still invited him to co-manage Tangxi Tower. Xia Jin’e confirmed Gu Yanxi’s identity with Hua Zhi, and Hua Zhi told her clearly that Gu Yanxi was the commander of the Qixiu Guards. Since no marks were found on the body, Gu Yanxi examined Gu Chengtao’s head and finally discovered a needle at the top of his scalp.
After regaining consciousness, Gu Chengtao visited Prince Xian in prison and gave him a cup of poisoned wine. Unexpectedly, Prince Xian made one final attempt to resist, but after Gu Yanxi stopped him, he took a shard from the wine vessel and committed suicide. Gu Chengtao instructed Gu Yanxi that the Qixiu Guards must thoroughly investigate the Prince Xian case and severely punish his followers.
When the Zhiming Tower opened under Hua Zhi and Bai Mingsummer, Gu Yanxi came to visit. He apologized for neglecting Hua Zhi after returning from the northern frontier. Hua Zhi, distressed, gently touched Gu Yanxi’s injured hand and asked how he planned to deal with the Sixth Prince. Hua Zhi gathered the women and told them that the child they called A Jian had an extraordinary background, and whether he would bring fortune or disaster in the future was uncertain.
Although the women did not know the Sixth Prince’s true identity, they were all mothers and sympathized with his plight. Hua Zhi decided to keep the Sixth Prince at Zhiming Tower. Gu Chengtao, recalling Gu Yangong’s words, sat down on the steps in a daze. At that moment, Gu Yangong arrived. Gu Chengtao pressed him for the whereabouts of the Sixth Prince, but Gu Yanxi did not answer directly and instead warmly invited Gu Chengtao to Zhiming Tower to relax.
When Gu Chengtao discovered the Sixth Prince at Zhiming Tower, he was shocked and ordered Gu Yanxi to have the boy bring a plate of green beans upstairs. Once the Sixth Prince entered the room and saw Emperor Qing, he screamed for help but was stopped by Changqing. Gu Chengtao asked the Sixth Prince whether he would stay or go. The Sixth Prince said he would not return to be a prince.
Enraged, Gu Chengtao grabbed Gu Yanxi’s dagger and slashed the boy’s forehead, saying that the jade disc would no longer bear the name of the Sixth Prince. Upon returning to the palace, Gu Chengtao offered to reward Gu Yanxi. Gu Yanxi earnestly requested that the former Hua residence be returned to the Hua family, and Gu Chengtao agreed. Standing at the door of their home, the women were overwhelmed with emotion. After all the twists and turns, they were finally home again, and everyone was moved to tears.
