Yue Ying, following Gongzi’s orders, infiltrated the heavily guarded dungeon to rescue Wan Mei. Inside, she found Wan Mei covered in wounds and despairing, even refusing to be saved. Yue Ying, though also reluctant, firmly stated that while Wan Mei might fail her own mission, Yue Ying would not fail hers and insisted on proceeding with the rescue. As Yue Ying helped Wan Mei out of the cell, Yue Qing Ya's prepared ambush of soldiers appeared.

Wan Mei noted they were surrounded, believing escape to be impossible, but Yue Ying remained determined. She swiftly dealt with the internal prison guards, set the dungeon ablaze, and then tossed the dead guards' bodies outside, creating confusion. While the besiegers focused on the "dead bodies," Yue Ying and Wan Mei disguised themselves as corpses and were also thrown out. When the soldiers began to move the bodies, they unexpectedly discovered Yue Ying was a woman, exposing her identity.

Fierce fighting erupted. Wan Mei, seeing Yue Ying nearly struck by an arrow, threw a bucket to assist. Her action, though helpful, put her in further danger. Yue Ying shielded Wan Mei and used a pre-arranged escape mechanism to successfully lead them away. Upon learning of Wan Mei's escape and that a single woman was responsible for the jailbreak and significant casualties—of the 48 guards present, only 8 survived, and the condemned prisoners were also killed—Yue Qing Ya was enraged.

He suspected Prince Ning was behind it and, fearing for Ruan Niang's safety, immediately dispatched guards to protect her. Meanwhile, Cha Luo was in a cheerful mood over Wan Mei’s imprisonment. When a servant dared to touch her cherished dressing case to clean it, Cha Luo nearly killed them until Xing Feng intervened. Cha Luo then instructed Xing Feng to recount the story of her dressing case, wanting to constantly remember her deep-seated hatred.

Over a decade ago, Cha Luo, an orphan, was taken by her uncle to marry Xie Ting Yun of the prestigious Xie family. She joyfully brought her favorite silkwood dressing case, intricately carved with twin lotus flowers by her own hands. However, Xie Ting Yun already had a beloved and insulted her publicly. His parents, believing her eyebrows to be an ominous sign, broke off the engagement.

Upon returning home, her uncle and aunt, seeing her as useless, subjected her to physical abuse before arranging a ghost marriage. Cha Luo was drugged and woke up inside a coffin with a corpse beside her. Just as she was losing consciousness, Lan He, the then-Lady of Gui Hua City, appeared, opened the coffin, and offered her a powerful worm that would enhance her internal energy and martial arts, allowing her to seek revenge.

Cha Luo, desperate, consumed the worm and joined Gui Hua City. She later killed her uncle and aunt. On a mission, she massacred the entire Xie family, reclaiming her dressing case as a reminder of their humiliation and as a relic of her mother. Cha Luo expressed her lingering resentment, revealing she initially felt grateful to Lan He but soon realized Lan He had merely used her to incite conflict with Cha Wu.

Cha Luo still harbored resentment towards Lan He's blind son who gave her orders, and she hated Wan Mei, eagerly anticipating her death. She vowed that if Yue Qing Ya spared Wan Mei, she would personally ensure Wan Mei’s demise. Separately, Ruan Niang revealed to Chang An that the Wordless Edict was hidden inside Cha Luo's dressing case.

Just as they were discussing this, Mo Fei arrived with Yue Qing Ya's men to protect Ruan Niang, informing them that Wan Mei had been rescued. Seizing the opportunity while Ruan Niang attended to Yue Qing Ya's men, Chang An left her a note, deciding to return to Gui Hua City to confirm Wan Mei’s safety and search for the Wordless Edict. Yue Ying brought Wan Mei to a secluded spot.

She had initially intended to give Wan Mei the antidote for the Sui Jin Incense, a potent poison that corroded skin and bones, which Gongzi had prepared to heal Wan Mei's disfigured face. However, after seeing Wan Mei’s despair and desire for death, and deciding to prioritize obtaining “Nine Lives” for Gongzi, Yue Ying changed her mind and poured the medicine onto the ground. Wan Mei, feeling that her appearance was ruined and disheartened, wished for death.

Yue Ying then offered Wan Mei a bottle of her self-made poison, assuring her of a quick and painless end. Wan Mei prepared to take her own life, but a sudden thought of Chang An’s betrayal ignited a spark of hatred and a desire for revenge, giving her a renewed will to live. She refused the poison. Seeing Wan Mei’s newfound resolve, Yue Ying offered her another chance.

She explained that Gongzi had a new mission requiring an “inducer,” and Wan Mei could serve that purpose. Yue Ying then administered a needle to Wan Mei, causing her to lose her voice, and arranged for her to be delivered into the hands of human traffickers heading to Ling City. In Ling City, Wan Mei feigned unconsciousness, even enduring a whipping without reaction, to make the traffickers lower their guard.

She then subtly untied herself and escaped in a passing carriage. However, her strength failed her, and she collapsed by the roadside. Meanwhile, Chang An had returned to Gui Hua City to face his punishment. Cha Luo intended to execute him for failing his mission and causing the deaths of his masters. However, Liu Guang interceded on his behalf, praising his loyalty and requesting Cha Luo to spare him.

Cha Luo relented, agreeing to a lesser punishment and offering Chang An to Liu Guang. Liu Guang specifically requested that Chang An's face remain unharmed. After Chang An endured a whipping, Liu Guang provided him with a high-quality ointment and ordered her shadow to apply it, a task which visibly stirred jealousy in the shadow.

Later, Yue Ying reported to Gongzi, informing him that she had rescued Wan Mei, but also confessed to having planted a gu poison in Wan Mei and sending her to Ling City against his direct order. Gongzi was furious at her insubordination and ordered Yue Ying to kneel outside as punishment, telling her to reflect on her actions.
