Han Shuang was enraged and prepared to leave, but Lin Hao deliberately provoked her and her friends, claiming their friendship was merely superficial and that they were already estranged. He accused Han Shuang of liking Xu Chengyi, stating it was widely known on the internet and questioning why she hadn't pursued him, suggesting she failed because Xu Chengyi only ever liked Xia Yan.
Lin Hao then turned to Xia Yan, alleging that she had asked Han Shuang to test Xu Chengyi's feelings for her, only to abandon Han Shuang once she got the desired outcome. He further claimed Xia Yan frequently described Han Shuang as an "idiot with a good figure" and accused her of secretly speaking ill of her friends.
Lin Hao didn't spare Ma Xiangnan either, implying she never shared her true secrets with them because she didn't trust them to be rational enough to handle her problems. He concluded that the four women were just "dining partners who drink, go shopping, and gossip together." Han Shuang, furious, lunged at Lin Hao, but Zhao Xiaolei intervened, pulling her back and urging everyone to leave.
Zhao Xiaolei then affirmed that being with Lin Hao was her choice, revealing she had liked him for seven years and would now finally stop repressing her feelings. She insisted she would remain with him, even without her friends' blessing, and would take responsibility for her own decisions. Distraught, Han Shuang left with her friends. Outside, Xia Yan advised Han Shuang not to dwell on Zhao Xiaolei's choices, asserting that Zhao Xiaolei had the right to make her own decisions.
Ma Xiangnan suggested that Han Shuang and Xia Yan should talk privately. Han Shuang asked Xia Yan if she truly believed the contents of the viral video. While the video made it difficult to deny Han Shuang's past feelings for Xu Chengyi, Xia Yan, wanting to spare Han Shuang further pain, simply said she didn't believe it.
Han Shuang then dropped a bombshell, telling Xia Yan that she was divorcing Ma Ke and needed to go to his house to move her belongings. Later, Xu Chengyi approached Xia Yan, clarifying that Han Shuang had, in fact, approached him to test his feelings for Xia Yan. He explained that he hadn't told Xia Yan earlier because he assumed Han Shuang would inform her herself.
Xia Yan believed Xu Chengyi, but then shared her own findings, revealing that the individuals they had caught earlier were merely spammers. She suspected that the real mastermind behind the attacks was still at large, especially with the recent video leak. Xia Yan added that Han Shuang had stored her videos in a private section of Confidante Planet, suggesting they were likely leaked along with subscriber data.
Meanwhile, Zhao Xiaolei gave Lin Hao her salary card, whose password was her birthday, to help him with his urgent financial troubles. Lin Hao, surprised by her kindness, questioned if she was pitying him or saw him as a "total loser." Zhao Xiaolei denied this, reminding him of all the times he had cared for her, her brother, and her family, stating she liked him as a person, irrespective of his success or failure.
She did, however, point out that he had seemed like a different person earlier that day. Lin Hao confessed that recent "awful things" and betrayals from his employees and business partners had pushed him to the brink, almost driving him crazy. He pleaded with Zhao Xiaolei to believe that the "original Lin Hao," the loving senior who cared for her, was still there, promising that such incidents would never happen again.
Zhao Xiaolei, after a moment of hesitation, agreed to trust him again, urging him to pick himself up and not lose himself. Lin Hao then expressed his love and vowed to treat her well. Han Shuang returned to Ma Ke’s apartment. She told him that upon seeing the video, she felt awkward and helpless, expecting him to face the challenge alongside her. Instead, she felt he "shrank back."
She recounted how he used to cherish her unconditionally, fulfilling her every whim, even participating in her eccentric live broadcasts. She recalled the Ma Ke who trusted and loved her completely, but today, she saw "uncertainty" in his eyes, which terrified her. She admitted their relationship had always been "uneven," with him loving her excessively, making her increasingly dependent and afraid to leave him.
Han Shuang clarified that there was nothing romantic between her and Xu Chengyi, but she acknowledged her mishandling of the situation and apologized. She expressed that Ma Ke had brought warmth into her life, which she described as a "dark corner," but now she felt pushed into an "even darker corner" and was "really afraid of the dark." Ma Ke proposed they forget everything and start over.
Han Shuang dismissed this as naive, saying their numerous conflicts had led them to this point despite their efforts. She reflected on a brief moment when she felt like she had the world with him, never envying anyone else, and pondered the vulnerability of human relationships. Ma Ke sadly agreed with her observation. Later, Han Shuang and Ma Ke were seen leaving the Civil Affairs Bureau with their divorce certificates.
Ma Ke insisted on carrying Han Shuang on his back, just as he had done when they registered their marriage, desiring to give their relationship a complete ending. Han Shuang, with a wry smile, called him a "hypocrite." Xia Yan initiated a meeting with Lin Hao, who expressed surprise, expecting her to avoid him. Xia Yan stated she wanted to discuss Zhao Xiaolei. Lin Hao quickly retorted about the freedom to love and told Xia Yan she was an outsider.
Xia Yan clarified she wasn't trying to intervene but wanted to offer her blessing to him and Zhao Xiaolei. Lin Hao doubted her sincerity, reminding her and Han Shuang's previous attempts to keep him away from Zhao Xiaolei. Xia Yan explained that their anger had led them to say things they didn't mean, emphasizing their long-standing friendship with Zhao Xiaolei.
Lin Hao countered that "deep hatred" might have already existed among them, and Zhao Xiaolei's past compliance didn't mean she lacked her own thoughts. Xia Yan acknowledged Zhao Xiaolei's complex emotions and credited Lin Hao for giving her courage and comfort during their friends' estrangement, which solidified her choice to be with him. Xia Yan wished them happiness, hoping that any past grievances between her and Lin Hao would not overshadow his future with Zhao Xiaolei.
She then earnestly requested that, despite any lingering animosity he might hold against her, he would promise to treat Zhao Xiaolei well. Lin Hao readily promised to treat Zhao Xiaolei well as his girlfriend, adding that he and Zhao Xiaolei would "certainly be happier" than Xia Yan and Xu Chengyi. Meanwhile, Ma Xiangnan underwent a medical examination and was informed about a suspected breast issue, a detail that Huo Kai, passing by, noticed.
Back home, her mother, worried about health issues in their family, including Ma Xiangnan's aunt who died of breast cancer in her twenties, pressed her about the results. Ma Xiangnan dismissively reassured her mother that everything was fine. However, she later returned to the hospital and requested Director Zhao, the doctor, to keep her condition confidential, acknowledging her "situation isn't that great." Later, Huo Kai, having recovered from his injury, invited Ma Xiangnan to a concert.
He drove her to a lakeside park, which he presented as a music festival, promising a surprise. There, he set off fireworks, deeply moving Ma Xiangnan. He then suggested embarking on an impulsive trip they had once discussed, a "trip where we leave at any time." Ma Xiangnan accepted the challenge, and Huo Kai told her to make a list of things she wanted to experience on their journey.
They drove overnight, with Ma Xiangnan eventually falling asleep in the passenger seat. Huo Kai looked at her tenderly, briefly contemplating a kiss before refraining and eventually falling asleep himself. When Huo Kai awoke, Ma Xiangnan had returned, wearing a new pink dress, which she had purchased because they had left without packing any change of clothes. She felt unaccustomed to wearing pink, a color she hadn't worn since turning eighteen, but Huo Kai complimented her.
Ma Xiangnan happily informed him that she had taken time off work and turned off her phone to fully enjoy their spontaneous vacation. She asked where they were headed next, and Huo Kai replied with a smile that it was another surprise.
