As Christmas Eve arrived, the city was adorned with festive lights. Gu Hai woke up early, bought breakfast, and ran through the snow-covered streets to ensure Bai Luoyin’s meal was still warm. When Bai Luoyin saw him sweating from the effort, he was touched by the gesture. Gu Hai playfully suggested how Bai Luoyin could truly show his gratitude, but Bai Luoyin, brushing off the joke, presented him with a pair of gloves as a Christmas gift.
Later, as they prepared for school, Gu Hai mentioned that a girl had given him a hand-knitted scarf and asked for Bai Luoyin's advice on whether to keep it. Bai Luoyin advised him not to give the girl false hope if he wasn't interested. Taking the advice, Gu Hai decided to return the scarf, implicitly reaffirming his feelings for Bai Luoyin.
That evening, Gu Hai and Bai Luoyin gathered with friends, Li Shuo and Hu Zi, for a hot pot dinner. During the meal, Bai Luoyin playfully jabbed at Gu Hai’s cooking skills, threatening to reveal an embarrassing secret. Their friends joined in the teasing, expressing admiration for Bai Luoyin's ability to "tame" Gu Hai. They mockingly called Bai Luoyin Gu Hai's "older brother" and dared a defensive Gu Hai to challenge him.
After the dinner, back at their apartment, Bai Luoyin received a call from his ex-girlfriend, Shi Hui. She tearfully recounted spending Christmas Eve alone, trapped in memories of their past, and admitted she couldn't move on. Bai Luoyin firmly reiterated that their relationship was over and urged her to delete his number. After the call, he attended to a sleepy Gu Hai, and their conversation took an intimate turn, with Gu Hai boldly teasing Bai Luoyin about his fear of pain. The next morning, Gu Hai answered Bai Luoyin’s phone when Shi Hui called again. When she identified herself as Bai Luoyin's girlfriend, Gu Hai declared himself Bai Luoyin's boyfriend, taunting her that he even had Bai Luoyin's watch.
He then confronted Bai Luoyin, accusing him of reminiscing about Shi Hui after finding her gift—the watch—in a drawer. When Bai Luoyin took the phone, he rejected Shi Hui's plea to remain friends, stating that for him, a breakup means becoming strangers. He explained that while he might not mind, "someone else might," and confirmed that he was now in a new relationship.
Later, Gu Hai surprised Bai Luoyin with a new necklace, a bracelet, and a matching watch for himself. Alarmed by the expense, Bai Luoyin learned that Gu Hai had not only used the money his brother had left him but had also withdrawn funds from the savings account his mother left behind.
Gu Hai vehemently stated he had no regrets spending it all on Bai Luoyin and accused Bai Luoyin of not loving him as much, suggesting he was still preoccupied with someone else. In the garage, Gu Hai cornered Bai Luoyin inside a car, passionately declaring his boundless patience and willingness to fulfill all of Bai Luoyin’s desires.
However, his tone turned serious as he warned Bai Luoyin that if he ever betrayed his trust, Gu Hai would show no mercy and make him "live with a palpitating heart for the rest of his life." Soon after, while Bai Luoyin was dozing in his classroom, he was awakened to find Shi Hui standing before him. She greeted him pointedly, asking if he had already forgotten her. A stunned Bai Luoyin could only ask why she had returned to China.
