Addicted Heroin Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Bai Luoyin wakes up to find his underwear discarded in the sink and confronts his father, who dismissively suggests washing them. Annoyed, Bai Luoyin says he has to leave for school. Later, on the phone, Bai Luoyin tells his friend Yang Meng that his mother has remarried. Yang Meng is surprised, joking that he's never even seen Bai Luoyin's mother.
Bai Luoyin retorts that she stayed with them just last week, prompting his friend to comment on how surprisingly young she looks. Meanwhile, Mrs. Zhou informs Gu Hai that the wedding banquet for his father's remarriage is booked for the next day. Gu Hai refuses to attend, but Mrs. Zhou reminds him it's an order from his father, the General. Gu Hai defiantly tells her they'll have to tie him up and drag him there.
She tries to reason with him, noting his mother has been gone for a long time and his father, only in his forties, can't be expected to remain single. Gu Hai, however, blames his father for his mother's death and vows to resent him forever. Mrs. Zhou warns him that his mother's death was ruled an accident by forensic experts, but Gu Hai insists he has his own judgment.
In a conversation with a friend, Gu Hai reveals his father is remarrying. He confesses his reluctance to attend, suspecting his father and the woman were involved while his mother was still alive. His friend advises him to go to establish his dominance and prevent the new wife from causing trouble. At a family dinner, Gu Hai's new stepmother, who is also Bai Luoyin's mother, tries to engage the silent Gu Hai in conversation.
He curtly replies he has nothing to say, muttering to himself about his father's poor taste. She then suggests her own son, who is Gu Hai's age, could come live with them, hoping they would get along. Gu Hai immediately threatens to leave if her son moves in. She quickly reassures him that her son is attached to his own father and there was never any plan for him to live there.
Gu Hai remains adamant, stating he will leave regardless, and his father ends the tense discussion by telling everyone to eat. Bai Luoyin's mother enters his room and announces she has found a better, private high school for him, with plans to send him abroad after his college entrance exam. Bai Luoyin flatly refuses.
She pushes, arguing his current school has no future and points out that her new husband's son attends that very private school, asserting Bai Luoyin is in no way inferior. She pleads for a chance to make up for her past failings as a mother, but Bai Luoyin coldly tells her to leave him alone and never to mention her new family in front of him again.
On the first day of school, Gu Hai and Bai Luoyin find themselves in the same class, Class 27. Their new head teacher, Luo Xiaoyu, introduces herself. When another student is tasked with creating a seating chart, Gu Hai is asked for his name. Seeing his messy handwriting, Bai Luoyin, a top student known for his excellent calligraphy, arrogantly mocks him, telling him to "write like a human being." This incident sparks a conflict between them.
In retaliation, Gu Hai secretly tears the completed assignment out of Bai Luoyin’s notebook. Unaware, Bai Luoyin hands in the book, and Luo Xiaoyu furiously reprimands him for submitting a blank exercise. She refuses to listen to his explanation that someone tore out the page and, as punishment, orders him to stand outside during the next class to reflect. Furious and humiliated, Bai Luoyin vows to find the culprit and "skin them alive."
Later, while out with friends, Gu Hai is asked if he has met his new stepmother’s son. He says it's better if he doesn't. When his friend asks if he's worried the son might try to dominate him, Gu Hai scoffs, vowing that if they ever meet, he will be sure to put his new stepbrother in his place to assert his own status in the household.
Episode 2 Recap
In the evening after school, Yang Meng was approached by a female classmate who had a crush on the handsome You Qi, a guy in their class known for his plaid shirt and headphones. Yang Meng, who disliked You Qi, cleverly suggested she give him a large pack of toilet paper as a gift, emphasizing it had to be a full pack.
Later, as Bai Luoyin walked home with Yang Meng, he was too preoccupied to engage in Yang Meng’s talk about the pretty girls in the class next door. Back home, Bai Luoyin was dismayed to discover his father had soaked all his clean underwear. He pointed out that of his three pairs, one was dirty, one was in the drain, and the only clean one was now wet.
His apologetic father offered his own single pair, but Bai Luoyin refused, knowing it would leave his father with nothing. He decided to wear a partially dried pair to school the next day. Unbeknownst to Bai Luoyin, Gu Hai had followed him home in a taxi, overhearing the conversation about the underwear. Deciding to play a prank, Gu Hai stealthily placed a new pair of underwear and a box of antidiarrheal capsules into Bai Luoyin's school bag.
During self-study class, Bai Luoyin, suffering the consequences of his damp underwear, had to use the toilet frequently, repeatedly asking You Qi for toilet paper. Upon returning to the classroom, he discovered the new underwear and medicine in his drawer. Another classmate, finding the underwear, mistakenly believed it was a gift for him from Bai Luoyin and remarked on his "introverted but passionate" nature before Bai Luoyin angrily dismissed him.
Furious, Bai Luoyin demanded to know who was behind the prank. Gu Hai openly admitted to sending the underwear and antidiarrheal, claiming it was an act of care. He then added to Bai Luoyin's anger by confessing he was also the one who had previously torn a page from Bai Luoyin's exercise book to practice copying his handwriting. Bai Luoyin was livid, accusing Gu Hai of being brazen, but Gu Hai insisted he should be flattered.
Unfazed, Gu Hai then approached the teacher and requested to change seats to sit directly behind Bai Luoyin, arguing their good relationship would motivate them to study. The teacher agreed to the change. Later, Bai Luoyin was seen stitching a hole in his white uniform with black thread, jokingly likening the patch to the black-and-white pattern of a cow. In a parallel scene, Gu Hai was also threading a needle while on a phone call with Jin Lulu.
When she teased that life must be tough for a rich kid without anyone to sew for him, Gu Hai clarified he wasn't sewing for himself or another girl. Jin Lulu then said she missed him and asked him to visit her in Tianjin that weekend, and he agreed. During P. E. class, the teacher, a former military man, sternly admonished the students for their lackadaisical posture.
After one student failed to lead commands with a loud enough voice, the teacher singled out Gu Hai. When Gu Hai's shouts were also deemed insufficient and he retorted that "orders are not for shouting," the teacher challenged him to complete 60 push-ups in one minute. Gu Hai readily accepted and performed an impressive 106 push-ups, leaving the class in awe. Impressed, the students challenged the teacher to demonstrate his own skills as a former soldier. The teacher accepted, agreeing to perform pull-ups and confidently stating he would surpass the combined total of all the students.
Episode 3 Recap
During a physical education class, the teacher demonstrated pull-ups and challenged the students. You Qi attempted but failed to complete a single one, to the amusement of his classmates. In contrast, Bai Luoyin performed impressively, completing thirty pull-ups. The teacher then boasted that he alone could match the students' combined total of nearly sixty. Gu Hai, despite having just done over a hundred push-ups, accepted the teacher's challenge to perform pull-ups simultaneously.
With the students cheering him on, Gu Hai easily outlasted the teacher, winning the challenge. Later, in class, Gu Hai was mending his own shirt when Bai Luoyin asked how many stitches he had sewn. Gu Hai retorted that he had sewn as many stitches as Bai Luoyin had done pull-ups, which only increased Bai Luoyin's irritation with him. At home, Bai Luoyin received a call from his ex-girlfriend, Shi Hui, who was abroad.
She demanded he read all her emails, threatening to fly back to China if he refused. Bai Luoyin remained firm, telling her that their breakup was final. The next day, suffering from a sleepless night, Bai Luoyin was provoked again by Gu Hai during English class. Trying to rest, he was tapped on the shoulder and, assuming it was Gu Hai, angrily lashed out. He was mortified to realize it was the English teacher.
Despite his apology, the displeased teacher took him to the office for a reprimand. When Bai Luoyin returned, Gu Hai mocked him for the outburst, and in a desperate attempt to get away, Bai Luoyin asked his deskmate to switch seats, but was refused. Seeking revenge, Bai Luoyin waited for Gu Hai to leave the classroom to wash his arm, then tampered with the front and back door locks. When Gu Hai returned, he found himself locked out.
Unfazed, Gu Hai climbed into the classroom via an external balcony and confronted Bai Luoyin, asking if he thought such a childish trick could stop him. The Guidance Director soon discovered the damaged locks and summoned Bai Luoyin to his office. He reprimanded Bai Luoyin for his poor conduct and demanded one hundred yuan for the damage. Bai Luoyin argued that the locks weren't broken and that his family was too poor to pay.
The Director then called Bai Luoyin's father, who sarcastically confirmed their poverty by stating that his own front door lock had been broken for five years without a single theft, and flatly refused to pay. That afternoon, a heavy rain began to fall. In his chauffeured car, Gu Hai declined his driver's suggestion to attend his stepmother's birthday dinner, insisting on going to his own apartment instead.
On the way, he saw Bai Luoyin, his father, and Mrs. Zou from the breakfast stall scrambling to move their equipment out of the downpour. Though his driver offered to stop and help, Gu Hai quietly watched them before telling the driver to continue home. The next morning, Gu Hai left a package of breakfast pastries on Bai Luoyin's desk. Unaware of who left them, Bai Luoyin ate them.
When Gu Hai revealed they were a gift from him, Bai Luoyin was instantly regretful, declaring he would have starved rather than accept anything from Gu Hai. Gu Hai then jokingly demanded thirty yuan. Annoyed, Bai Luoyin sarcastically asked if Gu Hai's family ran a breakfast stall and was trying to scam him. Playing along, Gu Hai affirmed that his family's business specialized in swindling "fools" like him.
Episode 4 Recap
Yang Meng expressed his belief that Gu Hai was quite kind to Bai Luoyin, pointing out how Gu Hai had gone to great lengths that morning to buy him various breakfast items that would have required queuing at different stalls. Bai Luoyin, however, dismissed this, insisting that Gu Hai disliked him and was always looking for trouble, and even joked he would be grateful if someone could make Gu Hai ignore him.
Yang Meng countered that he thought Gu Hai liked him, often observing Gu Hai staring at Bai Luoyin during class. Gu Hai, overhearing them, confirmed he was watching Bai Luoyin, joking that he needed to keep an eye on him to prevent him from "falling into a ditch." Their interaction was interrupted by the teacher, who, finding the classroom atmosphere too dull, asked Bai Luoyin to sing an English song, praising him as a talented and versatile student.
Later that evening, while Bai Luoyin was having dinner, his grandmother mentioned that a girl was calling him again. Bai Luoyin reluctantly took the phone from his father. On the call, he expressed his annoyance and told the caller, Shi Hui, to stop contacting him. Shi Hui reacted strongly, threatening to harass Bai Luoyin's father if he cut ties with her.
After ending the call, a frustrated Bai Luoyin decided to get his father a new phone card, dismissing his father's concern about losing contacts by saying few people called him anyway. The following day, Bai Luoyin discovered that the effective ointment his grandmother had given him for his mouth ulcers was actually hemorrhoids cream. His father defended its use, claiming it had also cured Bai Luoyin's grandmother's beriberi and asserting that any medicine that works is a good medicine.
In class, Bai Luoyin, visibly unwell and dozing off, was still able to correctly answer a question about the establishment date of Royal Shell. Not long after, Gu Hai went to the infirmary and asked the school doctor for sleeping pills, claiming he couldn't sleep. The doctor, citing school regulations, initially refused to give him a whole bottle but eventually provided two tablets, warning him about their misuse.
Back in the classroom, Gu Hai attempted to collect math homework from Bai Luoyin, who was deeply asleep and looked pale. As the teacher approached, Gu Hai and You Qi tried to wake Bai Luoyin, but he suddenly fainted. You Qi struggled to carry him, prompting Gu Hai to take over and rush Bai Luoyin to the infirmary. At the infirmary, the doctor recognized Gu Hai. He told her Bai Luoyin had taken the two sleeping pills.
The doctor stated that was a normal dose and suspected he had mixed them with other medication. She examined a packet of cold medicine from Bai Luoyin's drawer and confirmed it was expired. She explained that the combination of expired medicine and sleeping pills, along with a slight fever, caused his weakness and deep sleep, reassuring them he would be fine after waking up. Gu Hai insisted on staying to care for Bai Luoyin.
When Bai Luoyin woke up, he was surprised to see Gu Hai by his bedside. Gu Hai revealed that not only had Bai Luoyin taken expired cold medicine, but he had also put the two sleeping pills in his water bottle. Distraught, Bai Luoyin apologized if he had offended Gu Hai and pleaded with him to stop, even offering compensation.
Gu Hai refused, admitting to being "sick" and claiming Bai Luoyin was his "medicine," cryptically stating that Bai Luoyin would have to "suffer" for him to get better. Later, when exam results were released, Gu Hai revealed he scored 521 and calculated Bai Luoyin's total as 694. Astonished, Gu Hai accused Bai Luoyin of cheating, but Bai Luoyin retorted that with You Qi in front of him and Gu Hai behind, there was no one to copy from.
Yang Meng defended Bai Luoyin, reminding everyone that he had entered the class as the top student and consistently ranked in the top five. Suddenly, a student named Wu Fang confronted Bai Luoyin, threatening to expose his past if he didn't "watch himself." When Bai Luoyin dared him to speak, Wu Fang publicly called him a bastard whose mother didn't raise him and then insulted his mother. Enraged, Gu Hai immediately punched Wu Fang and demanded an apology.
Wu Fang refused and threatened to have Gu Hai jailed, but Gu Hai continued to assault him, threatening to break his leg. Other students intervened, pulling them apart. As Wu Fang was led away, a classmate remarked to Bai Luoyin that Gu Hai might not be able to return, as Wu Fang's family was rich and powerful. Later, as Gu Hai was packing his belongings in the classroom, Bai Luoyin approached and asked if he was leaving for good.
Misunderstanding the situation and assuming Bai Luoyin was the one in trouble, Gu Hai assured him he would find someone to "get him out." Bai Luoyin, realizing the mix-up, clarified he was just going home for dinner and would be back tomorrow. Before Gu Hai left, Bai Luoyin took off his own clean school uniform jacket and gave it to Gu Hai, whose shirt was bloody from the fight.
Episode 5 Recap
Bai Luoyin, plagued by recent misfortunes, sought solace at a night market stall, ordering five beers and an abundance of grilled skewers. Gu Hai soon arrived, joining him and urging him to slow his drinking, warning it would harm his stomach. Bai Luoyin, defiant, told him to leave, but Gu Hai insisted on drinking with him. As the drinks flowed, Bai Luoyin became more talkative, confiding in Gu Hai about his family troubles.
He defended his mother, explaining that although she never raised him and was materialistic, she had never engaged in illicit activities. He then revealed his frustration with his ex-girlfriend, Shi Hui, whose constant contact was causing him distress. Gu Hai, seemingly empathetic, shared that his own mother had passed away, but also hinted at his motives by remarking that Bai Luoyin's breakup was a good thing, as it created an opportunity for himself.
Gu Hai then playfully asserted that his constant teasing was a special way of showing he cared. As the night wore on, Bai Luoyin became completely intoxicated. He insisted he wasn't drunk, attempting to walk in a straight line and humorously accusing Gu Hai of plotting to cut his clothes again. When Bai Luoyin became unruly, Gu Hai threatened to throw him in a ditch, but ultimately carried him on his back all the way to his house.
At the doorstep, Gu Hai bid farewell to Bai Luoyin's father, who praised Gu Hai for being such a good and caring boy before helping his son inside. After dropping Bai Luoyin off, Gu Hai returned to his own home, where his father and an aide were waiting. His father, having already packed Gu Hai's bags, confronted him and ordered him to return to his old school, where he would be joined by Jiang Yuan's child, his new step-sibling.
Gu Hai adamantly refused, declaring he would rather die than return to a home with his step-family. When his father threatened to cut off his living expenses, Gu Hai defiantly accepted the challenge, vowing he would not come crawling back within a month. The next morning, Bai Luoyin greeted Yang Meng on their way to school. At a breakfast stall, Bai Luoyin inquired with the owner about how to remove bloodstains from clothes, referencing the uniform from his recent fight.
Shortly after, Gu Hai arrived on his bicycle and offered Bai Luoyin a ride. Bai Luoyin initially scoffed at the "broken-down" bike, but Gu Hai's playful taunts convinced him to get on. As they rode, Gu Hai vividly recounted Bai Luoyin's drunken antics from the previous night, including clinging to him, calling out "Hui," and trying to take off his pants. Bai Luoyin, initially skeptical, eventually recalled that Gu Hai had carried him home, realizing this was the second time.
Later at the breakfast stall, the two ate together, with Gu Hai remarking how long it had been since he'd had such an authentic meal. The conversation eventually turned to the blood-stained uniform. Bai Luoyin correctly guessed that Gu Hai had washed it for him, despite Gu Hai's playful denial. As the weekend approached, Gu Hai received a call from his friends, Li Shuo and Huzi, who invited him to a car race.
Distancing himself from his old circle, Gu Hai instructed them not to contact him unless it was an emergency and only with his prior approval, revealing his shift in priorities. Afterwards, Bai Luoyin teased Gu Hai about his "second-hand" bicycle, and Gu Hai joked that if he'd known bike theft was so common in the area, he would have stolen one instead of buying it. For the weekend, Bai Luoyin invited Gu Hai to go fishing.
Gu Hai initially feigned disinterest, claiming he was busy, but quickly agreed, humorously blaming his initial refusal on the wind. At the fishing spot, Gu Hai's restlessness disrupted Bai Luoyin's peaceful fishing, scattering the fish. Bai Luoyin chastised Gu Hai for his constantly annoying behavior. Just as Bai Luoyin hooked a large fish, Gu Hai rushed over, causing the fish to escape. Without hesitation, Gu Hai plunged into the cold water and, to Bai Luoyin's surprise, successfully retrieved the fish by hand.
Episode 6 Recap
Following their fishing trip, Gu Hai discovers his old-model phone is broken from being soaked in the river. Unconcerned by the inexpensive loss, he goes to Bai Luoyin’s house and asks for a shower. Bai Luoyin tries to deter him, falsely claiming their bathroom is broken and lacks hot water. However, Bai Luoyin’s father warmly insists, offering Gu Hai new clothes and inviting him to stay for dinner, much to Bai Luoyin’s annoyance. After showering, Gu Hai prepares to leave.
As Bai Luoyin walks him part of the way, Gu Hai, wanting to hide his real address, claims his place is a short bike ride away and urges Bai Luoyin to go back. Once Bai Luoyin is gone, Gu Hai rides off, but he soon notices Bai Luoyin is secretly following him. To mislead his pursuer, Gu Hai throws his bicycle over a wall into a large, stately courtyard.
He then asks the elderly homeowner if he can retrieve the bike and exit through the main gate. The kind elder agrees, creating the illusion that Gu Hai lives there. The next morning, Bai Luoyin waits outside the grand compound, expecting Gu Hai to emerge for school. Spotting him, Gu Hai quickly repeats his ruse.
He hoists his bicycle from his actual, more modest home over the wall into the neighbor’s yard, then calmly walks out of their main gate with the bike, reinforcing the deception. He then offers a surprised Bai Luoyin a ride to school. With his phone broken, Gu Hai is out of contact, prompting his girlfriend of three years, Jin Lulu, to track him down at his school.
Furious that she couldn't reach him for two days, she arrives having taken three days off from her own school and immediately suspects he has a new girlfriend. Ignoring Gu Hai’s pleas for discretion, her suspicion lands on a classmate, Shan Xiaoxuan, whom she publicly attacks and accuses of stealing her boyfriend. After Gu Hai breaks up the fight, Jin Lulu refuses to leave and vows to show up every week.
Exasperated, Gu Hai allows her to stay for a few days under strict conditions: she must act as if he is poor and refrain from mentioning his or her wealthy family background in front of his classmates. To ease the tension, Gu Hai takes both Jin Lulu and Bai Luoyin to a restaurant for lunch, with Jin Lulu paying.
During the meal, she asks Bai Luoyin to keep an eye on Gu Hai and report back if he gets close to any other girls, promising to reward him. Later, Jin Lulu is appalled by the rundown condition of Gu Hai's rented room, questioning how he can live there. Gu Hai explains he is used to worse from his time in the army and genuinely likes the quiet neighborhood.
Suspecting his father has cut him off financially, Jin Lulu urges him to borrow money from their rich friends, but Gu Hai insists his choice is about preference, not money. The next day at breakfast, Bai Luoyin asks about Jin Lulu, and Gu Hai expresses relief that she has left. Bai Luoyin admits that Jin Lulu asked him to spy on him. Gu Hai complains about her constant paranoia throughout their three-year relationship, insisting he has never been unfaithful.
Bai Luoyin brings up the incident with Shan Xiaoxuan, noting she was the one pursuing Gu Hai. He teases Gu Hai, asking if he wasn’t tempted by her, calling her an improvement over his "tigress" girlfriend. Gu Hai dismisses Shan Xiaoxuan as not his type, stating he prefers "strong" and "straightforward" women. When Bai Luoyin asks what kind he likes, Gu Hai jokes, "The opposite of you," before adding that he prefers "sexy girls."
Episode 7 Recap
With Gu Hai now living at his house, he and Bai Luoyin have become inseparable companions. One day, while Gu Hai is on his bicycle, Bai Luoyin expresses a craving for sugar-coated haws. Gu Hai buys a single stick of the hawthorn variety, explaining he can't manage another while riding. They share the treat, with Bai Luoyin remarking on its sweetness and lack of pits while playfully trying to get more bites from Gu Hai.
Later at school, You Qi approaches Bai Luoyin for help with a difficult math problem he can't solve. As Bai Luoyin begins to explain, Gu Hai jealously intervenes, pushing You Qi aside and insisting on explaining it himself. He aggressively quizzes You Qi to ensure he understands, asserting that he hadn't grasped the concept initially. Afterwards, Gu Hai gives Bai Luoyin some animal blood pudding, telling him it’s healthy and helps "clear toxins from the blood vessels."
Meanwhile, Jiang Yuan, Gu Hai's stepmother and Bai Luoyin's biological mother, complains to Gu Hai's father, General Gu, that Gu Hai still refuses to come home and needs to be taught a lesson. General Gu offers to speak with his son to resolve their issues, despite Jiang Yuan's warning that Gu Hai will be hostile. Jiang Yuan then shifts her focus to Bai Luoyin, lamenting his difficult upbringing and suggesting he move in with them.
She even proposes giving him an empty apartment they own near Guomao Bridge if he prefers to live alone. General Gu objects, stating the apartment is reserved for Gu Hai, who would be furious if Bai Luoyin lived there. Dismissing this, Jiang Yuan believes Gu Hai has no intention of returning. Seeing his wife is at a loss with her son, General Gu offers to speak with Bai Luoyin himself.
Jiang Yuan warns him of Bai Luoyin's stubbornness, and the General assures her he knows how to handle it. Sometime later, Gu Hai asks Bai Luoyin where to find the cheapest clothes in Beijing, and Bai Luoyin directs him to the area near the zoo. Gu Hai asks Bai Luoyin to accompany him shopping the next day and teach him to bargain. At the market, Gu Hai demonstrates an aggressive bargaining style.
For a jacket priced at 39 yuan, he claims to be a wholesale buyer and insists on a price of 15 yuan, threatening to leave until the seller reluctantly agrees. He tries the same tactic for a jacket priced at 200 yuan, but the seller refuses, calling him crazy. General Gu meets with Bai Luoyin, introducing himself as his stepfather. Acknowledging that Bai Luoyin already rejected Jiang Yuan’s invitation, the General states his goal is to offer guidance.
He praises Bai Luoyin’s stubbornness, noting a similarity to his own son, Gu Hai, but adds that Gu Hai is rational when it comes to his own interests. General Gu asserts that a man shouldn’t be consumed by sentimentality and that by choosing to remain in his current environment, Bai Luoyin is engaging in a form of self-degradation.
He offers to provide a superior living situation, emphasizing it’s not charity but what Bai Luoyin deserves, and that refusing it would show immaturity, not strength of character. Bai Luoyin firmly replies that he never intended to take anything from Jiang Yuan, as he has never considered her his mother. As he tries to leave, General Gu stops him, but Bai Luoyin is unmoved, stating that he is already a talented person and will succeed without any shortcuts.
One evening, Gu Hai joins Bai Luoyin and his father, Bai Hanqi, for dinner. Gu Hai and Bai Hanqi share drinks, and Gu Hai later claims to be drunk, sprawling across Bai Luoyin’s bed. Unconvinced, Bai Luoyin accuses him of faking it. As they lie there, they discuss the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Bai Luoyin shares that his family doesn't celebrate it much since his mother remarried, and it no longer feels like a family reunion.
When Gu Hai asks about his favorite mooncake, Bai Luoyin tells him it's egg-yolk lotus seed paste. At school, as Gu Hai is playfully hugging a reluctant Bai Luoyin from behind to warm his hands, a driver arrives looking for him. The driver, addressing Gu Hai as "young master," says General Gu sent him and that he cannot return empty-handed. When Gu Hai refuses to go to the car, Jiang Yuan appears.
She tries to persuade Gu Hai to return home, offering that she and his father would move out to let him have the house. She appeals to his emotional attachment to the home where his own mother had lived for many years. Gu Hai retorts that his return is none of her business. Frustrated, Jiang Yuan compares his stubbornness to her own son's. She offers him mooncakes she bought, but Gu Hai flatly refuses them.
Later, Gu Hai presents Bai Luoyin with an enormous mooncake, explaining he went to several shops to have a custom one made with twelve egg yolks. As they prepare to eat, Gu Hai admits he has been keeping a secret. Bai Luoyin surprises him by revealing he already knows Gu Hai's house is rented, as his grand-uncle and grand-aunt live next door. Bai Luoyin then directly asks if Gu Hai is about to confess that he's rich.
Amused, Gu Hai asks how he knew. Bai Luoyin calmly recounts seeing Gu Hai's driver pick him up at the beginning of the school year and noticing his limited-edition watch. A playful scuffle ensues. Gu Hai admits he was wrong to deceive him, but also accuses Bai Luoyin of "harboring a criminal" by not saying anything. Suggesting they call it even, he asks Bai Luoyin not to be angry or distant.
Bai Luoyin reassures him, saying he isn't easily angered and that his previous drunken rant was directed at Jiang Yuan's family, not born from a "hatred of the rich." When Gu Hai asks why he didn't bring it up sooner, Bai Luoyin replies that he was never given the chance.
Episode 8 Recap
Following Gu Hai's move into Bai Luoyin's home, their relationship intensifies as they begin to eat and sleep together, becoming as inseparable as a couple. During a basketball game, Bai Luoyin is fouled and hits his head on the basketball pole. Enraged, Gu Hai attacks the opposing player. You Qi intervenes, breaking up the fight and urging Gu Hai to take the injured Bai Luoyin home. Back at home, Gu Hai carefully tends to Bai Luoyin's facial wound.
He then warns Bai Luoyin to stay away from Yang Meng, whom he calls effeminate. Bai Luoyin defends Yang Meng as his childhood friend, prompting Gu Hai to jokingly suggest Yang Meng's name should be changed to sound "cuter." Later that night in bed, Gu Hai’s wandering hands wake Bai Luoyin, who angrily warns him to stop or be kicked out. Gu Hai then steers the conversation toward their sexual experiences, asking if Bai Luoyin is a virgin.
Bai Luoyin deflects, stating he is if Gu Hai is. When Gu Hai presses Bai Luoyin about his first time, Bai Luoyin refuses to discuss his ex-girlfriend, so Gu Hai offers to recount his own experience with Jin Lulu instead. On their way to school, they find that Aunt Zou's food stall has been vandalized, with her tables and chairs smashed by thugs the previous night. Sympathetic, Gu Hai uses his family connections to arrange a storefront for her.
He visits an official, Mr. Zhang, and to ensure the matter is handled swiftly, he "borrows" Mr. Zhang's prized dog. Worried for his dog, Mr. Zhang quickly secures a storefront for Aunt Zou. Unaware of this, Bai Luoyin’s father tells him that Aunt Zou was luckily chosen for a government program providing vendors with a free storefront. Bai Luoyin immediately suspects Gu Hai is responsible. Later on the rooftop, he thanks Gu Hai, who doesn't deny it.
After Bai Luoyin observes that his father seems to like Gu Hai, he asks about Gu Hai's own feelings. Gu Hai confesses, "How can I like you this much?" Gu Hai later takes Bai Luoyin to a KTV to meet his friends, Li Shuo and Zhou Sihu. The friends reminisce about Gu Hai's intense devotion to his ex-girlfriend, Jin Lulu. When Zhou Sihu gets too close to Gu Hai, Gu Hai forcefully shoves him away.
Li Shuo then explains to a surprised Bai Luoyin that Gu Hai despises being touched by others. That night, Gu Hai again makes advances on Bai Luoyin in bed, claiming he's just being close like he is with his friends. Bai Luoyin angrily refutes him, revealing that Li Shuo told him they never did such things. Annoyed by Gu Hai's persistence, Bai Luoyin gets out of bed to play with their dog outside. Left alone, a dejected Gu Hai mutters that in Bai Luoyin's eyes, he's not even as important as a dog.
Episode 9 Recap
Bai Luoyin skillfully repaired Gu Hai's water-damaged phone, delighting Gu Hai, who joyfully embraced him in gratitude. Their close interaction was interrupted by Jin Lulu's arrival. Seeing them, Jin Lulu expressed her displeasure, reprimanding Gu Hai for his recent lack of contact. Gu Hai attempted to excuse himself, claiming his phone had been broken. However, Jin Lulu immediately exposed his lie by using her own phone to dial Gu Hai's newly repaired device.
Infuriated, she threw the phone to the ground and stomped on it multiple times. Gu Hai, who cherished the phone because Bai Luoyin had fixed it, was enraged and scolded Jin Lulu. Concerned that the situation would escalate, Bai Luoyin quickly intervened. Jin Lulu, filled with anger and sorrow, turned to leave. When Gu Hai initially refused to go after her, Bai Luoyin urged him to, reminding Gu Hai of her long journey, their three-year relationship, and their intimacy.
Gu Hai only relented and gave chase after Bai Luoyin warned him about the dangers of a girl losing emotional control. He caught up with Jin Lulu, who remarked that it was the first time he had ever chased her after a quarrel. They reconciled, and she promised not to make such a scene again. Later, Gu Hai, Jin Lulu, and Bai Luoyin went to a restaurant for a meal.
Jin Lulu became upset again, observing that Gu Hai treated Bai Luoyin better than her, always smiling at him while maintaining a stern face with her. Gu Hai explained that men act differently around their girlfriends versus their close friends, needing to be more reserved with the former and more carefree with the latter. He praised Bai Luoyin extensively, highlighting his profound thoughts, unique taste, and his quiet but inwardly passionate nature.
He described Bai Luoyin as kind despite a tough exterior, recounting how he secretly cares for him, and how he fixed their classroom door and the water-damaged phone, proving his intelligence. To test Gu Hai, Jin Lulu asked him to hit Bai Luoyin, even just a light tap. Gu Hai adamantly refused, declaring that no one, including himself, could lay a hand on Bai Luoyin. This caused Jin Lulu to call Gu Hai "disgusting" and storm out.
Gu Hai yelled for her to "get out," while a weary Bai Luoyin urged them both to calm down. Having stayed at Bai Luoyin's home for some time, Gu Hai asked why Mr. Bai, Bai Luoyin's father, didn't partner with Mrs. Zou in her snack business. He pointed out it was a prime location with no rent or taxes, making it a lucrative opportunity.
Bai Luoyin explained that Mrs. Zou has a husband who works out of town and rarely visits, so a business partnership would inevitably lead to local gossip. He revealed that he had never seen Mrs. Zou's husband, not even during holidays, and suspected she might be divorced. Regardless, Bai Luoyin felt no discomfort with his father's closeness to Mrs. Zou; he had even encouraged his father to marry her so he wouldn't be alone for the rest of his life.
He also acknowledged his father's pride, noting that as a man, Mr. Bai wouldn't want to simply insert himself into Mrs. Zou's established business. Meanwhile, Mr. Bai was on the roof repairing a leak that had soaked their corn cobs when Gu Hai offered to take over the task. Soon after, Mr. Bai was summoned to the factory manager's office and was informed that he was being let go.
The manager lamented the decision, given Mr. Bai's decade of service and his family's financial needs. Mr. Bai was distraught, feeling this would push his family to the brink. Just then, Manager Miao, the HR manager of Tong Jie Refrigeration Equipment Company, arrived. The factory manager revealed he had arranged for Mr. Bai to be hired there.
Manager Miao offered Mr. Bai a position as an engineer with an after-tax monthly salary of 20,000 yuan, a 5,000 yuan housing subsidy, and other allowances. Incredulous, Mr. Bai joked that the company must print counterfeit money. To reassure him, Manager Miao invited him to visit the company and see his prepared workstation. Upon returning home, an ecstatic Mr. Bai announced his "promotion," showing off the signed contract and a 5,000 yuan sincerity deposit he had received. Bai Luoyin immediately suspected Gu Hai was behind his father's unexpected good fortune and confronted him.
Episode 10 Recap
Following the news of his father's new high-paying job, Bai Luoyin confronted Gu Hai, demanding to know if he was responsible. Bai Luoyin accused Gu Hai of meddling, questioning if he was trying to provide charity or felt obligated to reciprocate for a phone gift. Gu Hai countered that he couldn't bear to see Bai Luoyin's father toiling away and that Bai Luoyin's own pride was preventing his father from having a better life.
When Bai Luoyin angrily told him to stop interfering, Gu Hai threatened to hit him. He then explained that he had acted without consultation because he feared Bai Luoyin's stubbornness would lead him to reject the offer. Gu Hai clarified that the new company was legitimate and required real skills, believing Bai Luoyin's father was a capable man who deserved the opportunity to use his full potential and gain confidence, especially in front of Mrs. Zou.
Bai Luoyin maintained the situation was different, while Gu Hai argued that society relies on connections, which should be utilized when available. Later, Bai Luoyin's father expressed profound gratitude to Gu Hai, proclaiming that meeting him was the luckiest thing in his son's life. Having just received his salary, Bai Luoyin's father immediately purchased a new bed for Gu Hai, intending for him and Bai Luoyin to finally have their own sleeping spaces.
Gu Hai tried to refuse the gift, insisting that he slept perfectly well sharing a bed with Bai Luoyin and suggesting he might not stay long, making the purchase a waste. However, Bai Luoyin's father insisted it was his duty to treat Gu Hai well. Despite Gu Hai's reluctance, Bai Luoyin urged him to accept. That night, Bai Luoyin relished sleeping alone, but Gu Hai seemed determined to undermine his peace.
As Bai Luoyin settled into his own bed, Gu Hai repeatedly tried to join him. He sang loudly to annoy him and lamented Bai Luoyin's sudden coldness, reminding him how they used to cuddle nightly. Bai Luoyin threatened to swap rooms with his father if Gu Hai didn't stay on his own side. After one such attempt, Gu Hai was pricked by a cactus Bai Luoyin had strategically placed on his bed.
Crying out in pain, Gu Hai demanded Bai Luoyin remove the thorns from his back and then questioned why Bai Luoyin wore so little while sleeping alone but so much when they shared a bed. Bai Luoyin simply told him to figure it out himself. By morning, the two beds were pushed together, prompting Bai Luoyin to sarcastically ask if Gu Hai had glued them with his "omnipotent" hemorrhoid ointment.
During the weekend, You Qi saw Jin Lulu with another man at a hotel and wrote a note detailing what he saw, handing it to Bai Luoyin. Gu Hai snatched the note and, after reading it, became enraged. He drove to the hotel, found Jin Lulu with the other man, and confronted her. Jin Lulu initially claimed it was all an act to make Gu Hai jealous, but he declared their relationship over.
Jin Lulu then provocatively revealed she had slept with the other man long before and was not a virgin when she started dating Gu Hai. Stone-faced, Gu Hai simply told her they were finished and left. Later, Bai Luoyin called Gu Hai, teasing him about the breakup.
Gu Hai claimed to be genuinely sad after a three-year relationship, but Bai Luoyin remained unsympathetic, retorting that he didn't see any sign of grief and that Gu Hai's conscience knew he wasn't truly heartbroken. The next morning, Gu Hai suggested they go to Mrs. Zou's new restaurant to help with the grand opening. While they were there, a woman named Jiang Yuan arrived.
She approached Gu Hai, expressing concern about his father's new relationship and implying the woman was after their family's wealth or power. Gu Hai defended his father's choice, stating that as long as his father was content, he would accept it. Jiang Yuan then questioned why Gu Hai accepted his father's remarriage but not hers, emphasizing her own right to happiness.
As Mrs. Zou looked for Bai Luoyin, who had stepped outside, Jiang Yuan caught sight of him with Gu Hai. She then revealed to a shocked Gu Hai that Bai Luoyin was her son, the one she had often spoken of. The revelation that Jiang Yuan, the woman marrying Gu Hai's father, was actually Bai Luoyin's estranged mother left both boys reeling. Feeling betrayed by the circumstances, Bai Luoyin confronted Gu Hai, accusing him of deception.
Gu Hai defended himself, explaining he had only just learned the truth. He retorted that Bai Luoyin's mother had been having an affair with his father for years, leading to his own mother's mysterious death, and that he had more reason to be angry. Bai Luoyin declared he couldn't accept Gu Hai or his family, as their family was a source of pain for his own. Heartbroken, Gu Hai asked if this meant he had to leave.
Bai Luoyin coldly offered to pack Gu Hai's things, prompting Gu Hai to call him cruel. Bai Luoyin then told him to not bother with the belongings and to leave. As Gu Hai turned to go, he asked Bai Luoyin to convey his best wishes to Mrs. Zou for her grand opening.
Episode 11 Recap
Following his explosive fight with Gu Hai over their parents' marriage, Bai Luoyin skips school for two days, prompting his friend You Qi to grow concerned. You Qi questions Yang Meng about Bai Luoyin’s whereabouts, but Yang Meng admits he doesn't know, frustrating You Qi. Dismissing Yang Meng’s suggestion to wait until the weekend, a worried You Qi insists they go to Bai Luoyin’s home immediately.
At Bai Luoyin's home, they are greeted by his father, who affectionately calls his son by the nickname "Da Guinv" (big daughter), much to You Qi's amusement. The father assures them that Bai Luoyin is not sick, just exhausted and sleeping. When Bai Luoyin awakens, he is surprised by the visit. You Qi explains his concern and asks directly if a quarrel with Gu Hai is the cause, noting the "unusual" nature of their relationship. Bai Luoyin deflects the question.
Before leaving, You Qi gives Bai Luoyin Gu Hai’s homework, remarking that it's strange Bai Luoyin doesn't know Gu Hai's whereabouts, as Gu Hai had been attending school during Bai Luoyin’s absence. Meanwhile, Gu Hai's friends discuss his breakup with Jin Lulu, expressing relief that the toxic relationship is over and criticizing her arrogance. Elsewhere, a distraught Gu Hai, who has decided to transfer schools to escape the situation, isolates himself in a hotel.
Overcome with despair, he drunkenly calls out Bai Luoyin's name, confessing how much he misses him. Having overheard teachers discussing Gu Hai's potential transfer, a conflicted Bai Luoyin uses the excuse of delivering items from a teacher to visit Gu Hai at the hotel. The meeting is tense, with Gu Hai dismissing the items as "crap."
As Bai Luoyin turns to leave, Gu Hai stops him, grabbing him in a hug and demanding to know why he is being treated so coldly. Gu Hai breaks down, confessing the depth of his pain and revealing that he has not cried for anyone since his mother's death. He tells Bai Luoyin how much his presence has enriched his life and how lost he feels without him. Softened by the confession, Bai Luoyin returns home late.
His father, sensing a rift, asks if he fought with Gu Hai and urges him not to abandon a good friend over a trivial matter. Bai Luoyin then reveals the truth: Gu Hai's father married his mother. He clarifies that neither of them knew about their parents' relationship at first. To his surprise, his father accepts the news calmly, calling it "destiny" and defending his ex-wife's right to find happiness.
Bai Luoyin, however, remains resentful toward his mother, calling her selfish. His father points out that Gu Hai is also a victim in this and that Bai Luoyin should apologize, but he stubbornly refuses. Frustrated, his father gives him an ultimatum: bring Gu Hai back within three days. The next morning, while on his way to find Gu Hai, Bai Luoyin is suddenly kidnapped by two thugs.
After a fierce struggle, he is overpowered, bound, and taken to the hotel where Gu Hai is waiting. Gu Hai declares his intention to imprison Bai Luoyin to prevent him from leaving. He then confesses his true feelings, admitting he never saw Bai Luoyin as just a friend and has a strong desire to be intimate with him.
Bai Luoyin interrupts the provocative confession to reveal that he was actually on his way to apologize, explaining that his father had accepted the situation and wanted Gu Hai to come home with them. He then adds sarcastically that his journey was cut short by a "psychopath" who had him kidnapped. Skeptical, Gu Hai calls Bai Luoyin’s father, who confirms the story and says how much he misses Gu Hai.
Overjoyed, Gu Hai immediately unties Bai Luoyin, affectionately calling him "my Yin" and "baby." When Bai Luoyin tries to leave, Gu Hai stops him, demanding a response to his passionate confession. Gu Hai dismisses the fact that they are both male, using an absurd analogy of a dog and a cat dating, and asks if Bai Luoyin likes him.
When Bai Luoyin says no, Gu Hai playfully threatens to keep him captive until he does, vowing to "smash" him with overwhelming love until he gives in. Following their reconciliation, Gu Hai brings Bai Luoyin to his father's home for dinner. During the meal, Gu Hai takes a piece of sea cucumber from Bai Luoyin’s bowl.
When his father asks why, Gu Hai explains that Bai Luoyin doesn't like it and it gives him diarrhea, demonstrating his intimate knowledge of his friend's body. Delighted by their closeness, Gu Hai's father inquires about their birthdays. They discover they were both born in the fifth lunar month.
Gu Hai claims his birthday is May 1st, same as Bai Luoyin's, but is quickly called out, as his real birthday is May 6th, making Bai Luoyin the elder of the two. Later, Bai Luoyin’s mother suggests that both boys move into the new family home for convenience, but Bai Luoyin, his resentment still palpable, firmly refuses. Gu Hai immediately supports his decision, telling their parents he has already settled back into his own place and that they shouldn't worry. Seeing their resolve, the parents reluctantly agree to let them continue living on their own.
Episode 12 Recap
Gu Hai continued his acts of kindness from the previous episode, providing an elderly woman with therapeutic equipment for her cervical and lumbar spine, highlighting its suitability for seniors, and also gifting her a device for cerebral thrombosis. He offered to connect a man with an affordable contractor for bathroom renovations and gave a learning machine to a woman for her son. He arranged for regular medicine deliveries for the elderly woman, alleviating her need to queue at the hospital.
He considered these actions as part of his duty. Bai Luoyin discussed the upcoming physical examination with the deputy monitor, noting that twenty male students would be examined together, requiring them to undress completely. Aware of Gu Hai’s intense attention, Bai Luoyin specifically requested to avoid being in the same examination group as Gu Hai, even though the deputy monitor had intentionally placed them together due to their close relationship.
During the physical exam, Bai Luoyin was scrutinized by Gu Hai. Afterwards, Bai Luoyin was informed by a staff member that his physical examination results were positive for HBV, indicating hepatic dysfunction and a primary suspicion of Hepatitis B. Bai Luoyin was shocked, mentioning a past clean bill of health and vaccinations. The staff member clarified that the vaccine was not always effective and that two other classmates had similar results.
He advised Bai Luoyin to seek a follow-up check at the hospital for early treatment and recovery, assuring him the information would remain confidential. Bai Luoyin was upset and lingered outside, where Gu Hai teased him about his distress over being watched during the exam. Bai Luoyin was distant and unwilling to go home. Back at their place, Gu Hai presented freshly made dumplings, encouraging Bai Luoyin to eat. Bai Luoyin hesitantly told him about the Hepatitis B diagnosis.
Dismissing it as unreliable information from the deputy monitor, Gu Hai insisted on sharing the same chopsticks and bowl, challenging Bai Luoyin to "infect" him, saying he would "catch the disease" with him. He scoffed at Bai Luoyin’s caution, convinced the diagnosis was wrong and calling Bai Luoyin an "idiot" for believing it. He suggested they visit a hospital on Saturday, assuring Bai Luoyin he would be fine.
Despite Gu Hai's reassurance, Bai Luoyin asked Gu Hai to keep his distance, just in case. One evening, after showering, Bai Luoyin asked Gu Hai for pajamas. Captivated by Bai Luoyin's appearance, Gu Hai jokingly accused Bai Luoyin of intentionally seducing him by being slow to change. Gu Hai then unexpectedly entered Bai Luoyin’s room, stating his intention to sleep there despite other available bedrooms.
Still worried about the supposed HBV, Bai Luoyin warned Gu Hai against close contact, mentioning sweat as a potential transmission route. Gu Hai deliberately questioned other methods of transmission, including saliva and even sexual contact, before forcing himself on Bai Luoyin despite his protests. Afterwards, Gu Hai asked Bai Luoyin if he felt good, before softening his tone and vowing to "take good care" of him and compensate for the emotional neglect he might have experienced over the years.
Later, the deputy monitor approached Bai Luoyin to clarify the physical examination results from the previous day. He explained that only one of Bai Luoyin's five test indicators was positive, which indicated the presence of antibodies, not active Hepatitis B. In fact, only Bai Luoyin and two other students had these antibodies, while the rest of the class needed booster shots.
Overhearing the corrected diagnosis, Gu Hai jokingly lamented to the deputy monitor that he had "ruined his plan," as he had hoped Bai Luoyin's supposed illness would lead Bai Luoyin to "fall in love" with him sooner. As their relationship deepened, Gu Hai consistently sought Bai Luoyin's company. He invited Bai Luoyin to his home in Tianjin to meet his mother, who was eager to see him.
Bai Luoyin politely declined, offering to buy a gift for her and promising to visit when he had the chance. Gu Hai also asked Bai Luoyin to accompany him to shop for furniture for his new house, valuing Bai Luoyin's taste. Their life together started to face financial challenges. After proudly telling his father that he would not ask for money again, Gu Hai found himself short on cash.
He had spent all his savings on house renovations and daily expenses, and found it difficult to cope without income. Bai Luoyin suggested Gu Hai stay at his house, pointing out that Gu Hai had already been freeloading for nearly two months. Bai Luoyin also reminded Gu Hai that he had helped Bai Luoyin's father find a job, so his father would be more than happy to support Gu Hai for years.
Gu Hai, though, expressed discomfort with the idea of living entirely off Bai Luoyin's family and having no money for personal outings. Bai Luoyin then proposed an idea for them to earn money quickly. During the physical examination, Gu Hai took the opportunity to stare at Bai Luoyin's body.
Episode 13 Recap
Concerned about their finances, Gu Hai was relieved when Bai Luoyin, with his sharp mind, quickly devised a clever plan to earn money. Their scheme involved playing mahjong with two wealthy friends. With Gu Hai's assistance, Bai Luoyin consistently won, frustrating his opponents who complained about his repeated "peng" and "gang" moves. After winning several times in a row, the friends were baffled and suspected cheating.
However, Gu Hai explained that Bai Luoyin didn't need to cheat because he possessed an incredible memory, able to recall all the tiles on the table, including those discarded by others. Despite Bai Luoyin humbly attributing his wins to luck, his friends were convinced of his "photographic memory" and swore off playing with him again. Thanks to Bai Luoyin's exceptional skill, they easily earned a substantial sum, counting twelve thousand yuan back home.
Thrilled by their success, Gu Hai playfully called Bai Luoyin "my good wife," which earned him a lighthearted threat of castration from Bai Luoyin. For days, Yang Meng had been relentlessly bothered by You Qi. He finally sought refuge by clinging to Bai Luoyin's back, refusing to let go until Bai Luoyin promised to help. Yang Meng explained that You Qi constantly found opportunities to pester him, not with physical violence, but by verbally berating him, leaving him overwhelmed.
He claimed You Qi would even follow him during school breaks and stare at him unkindly. During a break, while Yang Meng was having an ice cream, Gu Hai asked for a taste of Bai Luoyin’s. Instead, Bai Luoyin gave his entire ice cream to Yang Meng.
Gu Hai became visibly jealous, pointing out that Yang Meng was eating from the part with Bai Luoyin's saliva and questioning why he was allowed to have it, leading to a brief, tense exchange. Later, when Bai Luoyin confronted You Qi, he vehemently denied harassing Yang Meng, calling him paranoid and claiming he hadn't even spoken to him recently. Despite You Qi's denial, Yang Meng remained fearful, insisting that he be allowed to walk home with Bai Luoyin.
He reminded Bai Luoyin of their long-standing friendship since kindergarten and his recent loneliness, and Bai Luoyin reluctantly agreed, while a visibly upset Gu Hai watched them leave. Upon returning home after walking Yang Meng, Bai Luoyin found Gu Hai waiting outside the door and initially ignored him. Bai Luoyin's father, noticing Gu Hai's presence, immediately called Bai Luoyin out, scolding him for leaving Gu Hai outside.
He praised Gu Hai as a "good boy" and chastised Bai Luoyin for his stubbornness. Bai Luoyin defended himself, stating he had asked Gu Hai to come in, but Gu Hai refused. His father, however, believed Bai Luoyin must have upset him and insisted he bring Gu Hai inside. Meanwhile, Gu Hai maintained a polite front, telling Bai Luoyin's father not to worry and that it was cool outside.
After much persistence from his father, Bai Luoyin finally gave in and invited him in, at which point Gu Hai immediately entered the house and clung to him. Later, Bai Luoyin injured his foot. Gu Hai noticed his cold hands and then the injury, asking what happened. Bai Luoyin jokingly blamed Gu Hai for kicking him. Feeling guilty, Gu Hai wanted to kiss the injury, but Bai Luoyin dismissed it as a minor scrape.
The moment turned serious as Gu Hai apologized for his earlier jealousy toward Yang Meng, admitting he found it hard to control his emotions and felt "extremely insecure." He stated that if Bai Luoyin could provide a clear answer about their relationship, he wouldn't act out. Bai Luoyin countered, questioning what more security Gu Hai needed when he was already living there for free.
He warned that if Gu Hai was seeking security through physical intimacy, he would "never get it." Gu Hai quickly clarified that it wasn't about sex, asserting he was a "normal man" who could find a girl if that were his only motivation. He confessed he liked Bai Luoyin "too much" and saw him as "the purest boy," making him reluctant to cross that line. Bai Luoyin maintained his boundary, stating, "Both of us are male.
I can only go this far with you." Pushing for an emotional commitment, Gu Hai repeatedly asked if Bai Luoyin liked him. Bai Luoyin, while not saying it directly, confirmed his feelings by asking, "You know it. Why bother to ask?" Sometime later, Yang Meng arrived and found them in the same room. He playfully questioned if they were living together, noting Bai Luoyin's previous aversion to sharing a room.
Bai Luoyin explained that Gu Hai was his new stepbrother, as his mother had married Gu Hai's father. He clarified that they lived together because both were at odds with their respective parents. As the weather grew colder, Gu Hai and Bai Luoyin took their dog, Alang, for a walk by the river. There, they observed Bai Luoyin's father and an auntie, Zou Shen, standing together on the rocky beach, looking like a couple.
Gu Hai, with a knowing look, suggested they should get married. He pointed out that if they did, Bai Luoyin would become the third wheel, which would allow Gu Hai and Bai Luoyin to move back into their own small house together. Having already come to terms with his mother's remarriage, Bai Luoyin approached his father and urged him to marry Zou Shen.
His father initially hesitated, feeling it was unfair to Bai Luoyin after the "dozen years of hard life" they had shared. However, Bai Luoyin reassured him there was nothing to feel bad about, acknowledging his father's sacrifices and asserting that it was "time for you to start a new life."
When his father declared, "You're the one I love most in my life," Bai Luoyin playfully responded that he wanted his father to marry so he could finally "get my freedom." With Bai Luoyin's blessing, his father and Zou Shen held a lively wedding ceremony. The Bai family home was filled with guests and banquet tables.
During the celebration, a child named Tongtian, presumably Zou Shen's son, was encouraged to call the newly married father "dad" in exchange for red packets. Bai Luoyin felt a deep sense of contentment, seeing his father, who had worked tirelessly for most of his life, finally find his own happiness.
Episode 14 Recap
Following his father's remarriage, a heavily intoxicated Bai Luoyin was carried home by Gu Hai. Gu Hai politely declined Bai's father's offer for them to stay, joking that he didn't want to intrude on the wedding night. He then hoisted the unconscious Bai Luoyin onto his back and headed into the cold night. On the way, Bai Luoyin regained some consciousness and asked to go to a rooftop for fresh air. Gu Hai obliged, carrying him to the top.
Leaning on Gu Hai, a weeping Bai Luoyin lamented that he felt abandoned, saying no one would ever again cook him such terrible food or throw his underwear in the sink. Gu Hai comforted him, promising to cook meals that were even worse, to wash his clothes, and assured him that, apart from his father, no one would ever care for him more.
The next day, Gu Hai went to meet his cousin, Gu Yang, who was visiting from abroad on business. During their meeting at a restaurant, Bai Luoyin lightheartedly pointed out that his and Gu Hai's names combined, "Hai Luoyin," sound like the word "heroin." Later, back at their apartment, Bai Luoyin asked about a scar on Gu Hai's waist.
Gu Hai explained it was from a childhood fight with Gu Yang over a watermelon, in which his cousin cut him with a fruit knife. He contrasted this with another story about chasing a lost kite, which he pursued in tears while Gu Yang chased it laughing, to illustrate his own good nature and his cousin's supposed malevolence. Gu Yang later paid an unexpected visit to their apartment.
Upon entering, he began critiquing the decor, finding fault with everything from the television size to the mismatched furniture. His commentary was interrupted when Bai Luoyin, wrapped only in a towel, emerged from the bathroom looking for his pajamas. An awkward exchange followed, with Gu Hai teasing Bai Luoyin for his lack of modesty. Observing their dynamic, Gu Yang made a subtly suggestive remark about them staying warm at night before departing.
After he left, Gu Hai playfully chased and tackled Bai Luoyin, carrying him over his shoulder and demanding to be called "husband," a request Bai Luoyin flatly refused. The news of the remarriage also reached Bai Luoyin's mother, who let herself into the apartment with a spare key from Bai's father. She expressed pity, assuming Bai Luoyin had been "kicked out" and that his new stepmother wouldn't care for him.
Bai Luoyin immediately defended his father and rejected his mother's renewed offer to send him abroad, stating it was too late for her to make amends. She seemed relieved to see the close bond between the two boys, especially when they decided to bathe together. Afterward, while attempting to blow-dry Bai Luoyin's hair, she once again pushed the idea of a foreign education.
Bai Luoyin reiterated that he enjoyed his current life and firmly told her to stop wasting her time, eventually asking her to leave. As his mother departed, Bai Luoyin and Gu Hai discussed their concern over her having a key. Fearing more unannounced intrusions and a loss of their privacy, they decided to change the lock immediately.
Episode 15 (Ending) Recap
As Christmas Eve arrived, the city was adorned with festive lights. Gu Hai woke up early, bought breakfast, and ran through the snow-covered streets to ensure Bai Luoyin’s meal was still warm. When Bai Luoyin saw him sweating from the effort, he was touched by the gesture. Gu Hai playfully suggested how Bai Luoyin could truly show his gratitude, but Bai Luoyin, brushing off the joke, presented him with a pair of gloves as a Christmas gift.
Later, as they prepared for school, Gu Hai mentioned that a girl had given him a hand-knitted scarf and asked for Bai Luoyin's advice on whether to keep it. Bai Luoyin advised him not to give the girl false hope if he wasn't interested. Taking the advice, Gu Hai decided to return the scarf, implicitly reaffirming his feelings for Bai Luoyin.
That evening, Gu Hai and Bai Luoyin gathered with friends, Li Shuo and Hu Zi, for a hot pot dinner. During the meal, Bai Luoyin playfully jabbed at Gu Hai’s cooking skills, threatening to reveal an embarrassing secret. Their friends joined in the teasing, expressing admiration for Bai Luoyin's ability to "tame" Gu Hai. They mockingly called Bai Luoyin Gu Hai's "older brother" and dared a defensive Gu Hai to challenge him.
After the dinner, back at their apartment, Bai Luoyin received a call from his ex-girlfriend, Shi Hui. She tearfully recounted spending Christmas Eve alone, trapped in memories of their past, and admitted she couldn't move on. Bai Luoyin firmly reiterated that their relationship was over and urged her to delete his number. Despite Shi Hui's desperate plea that she couldn't let go of the hope for a reconciliation, Bai Luoyin stated it was impossible.
After the call, he attended to a sleepy Gu Hai, and their conversation took an intimate turn, with Gu Hai boldly teasing Bai Luoyin about his fear of pain. The next morning, Gu Hai answered Bai Luoyin’s phone when Shi Hui called again. When she identified herself as Bai Luoyin's girlfriend, Gu Hai declared himself Bai Luoyin's boyfriend, taunting her that he even had Bai Luoyin's watch.
He then confronted Bai Luoyin, accusing him of reminiscing about Shi Hui after finding her gift—the watch—in a drawer. When Bai Luoyin took the phone, he rejected Shi Hui's plea to remain friends, stating that for him, a breakup means becoming strangers. He explained that while he might not mind, "someone else might," and confirmed that he was now in a new relationship.
Later, Gu Hai surprised Bai Luoyin with a new necklace, a bracelet, and a matching watch for himself. Alarmed by the expense, Bai Luoyin learned that Gu Hai had not only used the money his brother had left him but had also withdrawn funds from the savings account his mother left behind.
Gu Hai vehemently stated he had no regrets spending it all on Bai Luoyin and accused Bai Luoyin of not loving him as much, suggesting he was still preoccupied with someone else. In the garage, Gu Hai cornered Bai Luoyin inside a car, passionately declaring his boundless patience and willingness to fulfill all of Bai Luoyin’s desires.
However, his tone turned serious as he warned Bai Luoyin that if he ever betrayed his trust, Gu Hai would show no mercy and make him "live with a palpitating heart for the rest of his life." Soon after, while Bai Luoyin was dozing in his classroom, he was awakened to find Shi Hui standing before him. She greeted him pointedly, asking if he had already forgotten her. A stunned Bai Luoyin could only ask why she had returned to China.
