The firefighters used electric pliers to fix it and advised the person to be careful and not play with it in that manner again.
Han Beiyao met with Nan Chu and expressed her disappointment with Nan Chu's previous public performance. However, seeing a video of Nan Chu's dance rehearsal shown by Shen Guangzong inspired a new idea: presenting Nan Chu's authentic self might be more impactful. Yu Qilei explained he works out of town and doesn't return often, so Miaomiao's mother usually handled pickups. He happily reunited with Miaomiao, who was excited to see him. That evening, Milan was cooking dinner. Yu Qilei offered to help, but Milan insisted on cooking as planned. He thanked her for her hard work. Milan mentioned that Miaomiao didn't want to continue the interest class because she wasn't getting along with her classmates.

During Miaomiao's birthday celebration, they sang and presented her with a cake. Yu Qilei gave Miaomiao a gift, which turned out to be a firefighter figure. While heading to the brigade for a meeting, Lin Luxiao stopped by the Dream Dance Club to see Nan Chu. He found her busy rehearsing. He told her he had to return to the station for some work but ordered dinner for the dance team, reminding them to eat despite their training. After dinner, Nan Chu went to the special division unit to see Lin Luxiao at the gate.
She excitedly shared that Han Beiyao had approved her participation in the upcoming performance, meaning she could finally get on stage if their dance was approved. Lin Luxiao promised to be there to watch. She then shared more good news: she had rented an apartment nearby.
Pointing out a balcony with star lights visible from the station, she explained that his place was too far and now they could see each other every day, no matter how late he finished work. Overjoyed, they shared a kiss. However, an emergency call about a social assistance case required Lin Luxiao to leave immediately, and he told Nan Chu to go home safely.
Yu Qilei called Lin Luxiao, asking if he knew any firefighters in his home area because he needed to pick up Miaomiao in uniform the next day as promised. Lin Luxiao didn't know anyone personally but offered to ask Captain Meng. Yu Qilei declined, saying he would try to buy a uniform part at a local fire equipment store instead, though he doubted they would have the full turnout gear.
Lin Luxiao checked in on how things were at home, and Yu Qilei said things were fine, he had just gotten Miaomiao to sleep. Lin Luxiao encouraged him to stay longer with his family. The next day, Yu Qilei took Miaomiao to her interest class, reminding her of his promise to pick her up in his uniform later.
Soon after, he saw smoke and emergency activity nearby and realized there had been a structural collapse during demolition near the interest class building where Miaomiao was. Rushing back, he found the building had collapsed, trapping many children and teachers. Identifying himself as a firefighter and structural engineer from Beixun City, he immediately offered his assistance in the rescue operation. Inside the collapsed structure, Yu Qilei searched frantically, calling out Miaomiao's name. He located her trapped under debris.
However, he also saw another child trapped nearby who was closer to him. Facing an agonizing decision, he prioritized rescuing the child closest to him, while urging Miaomiao to stay put and wait for him. After successfully rescuing the other child and bringing her out to her waiting parent, Yu Qilei rushed back to Miaomiao. He rescued his daughter and brought her out. His wife Milan was there and saw his actions.
Yu Qilei tried to explain that he had judged Miaomiao to be temporarily safe and had to save the person closest to him first, as saving Miaomiao immediately could have endangered those nearby. However, Milan was unable to understand his choice in the moment and and left with Miaomiao for the hospital, refusing to listen further. Later that night, Yu Qilei spoke with Miaomiao, fearing she might blame him.
But Miaomiao said she understood, recalling his lesson that firefighters must always save the person closest to them first. Miaomiao then expressed her wish for him to visit more often, noting that she saw Milan crying alone because she missed him. Yu Qilei promised to spend every day with her in the future and asked for some time. Before he left her room, Miaomiao gave him a drawing she made. Yu Qilei then spoke with Milan, who was still awake.
Milan confronted him, asking what would have happened if Miaomiao had been seriously hurt. Yu Qilei reiterated his reasoning for prioritizing the other child. He admitted that balancing his career and family life had been incredibly difficult over the years. He told Milan the situation at the station was currently chaotic and asked for just one more year to try and arrange a transfer back to Beixun.
Milan was skeptical, reminding him he had said the same thing three years ago and felt his presence or absence made no difference to the family now. She told him there was food in the fridge for him before going to sleep. The next day, Yu Qilei returned to the special division unit earlier than expected from his leave. Liu Ruyi asked him about it and whether he had argued with Milan.
Yu Qilei denied arguing, saying he came back because Miaomiao was at school and Milan was working. Lin Luxiao saw Yu Qilei and noticed he seemed troubled. He stopped Yu Qilei from unpacking and took him and Liu out, claiming they were going for "Six Familiarities." This turned out to be dinner and drinks, as Lin Luxiao felt they hadn't had a chance to gather properly lately.
He specifically asked Liu to make sure Yu Qilei drank, explaining it was a good day because their days off happened to align. Meanwhile, at the Dream Dance Club, Nan Chu and the dance team were filming their audition video. During the rehearsal, Nan Chu accidentally twisted her ankle. Despite the pain, she insisted it was not a serious injury and determinedly continued filming, telling the rest of the team to keep practicing. Sha Sha helped her with a bandage.
Director Deng called, inquiring about the video submission, as others had already submitted theirs. Nan Chu assured him she would send it later that evening. Lin Luxiao called her during the break to check in. Nan Chu admitted she was nervous but he reassured her she would succeed. Nan Chu asked him to celebrate with her alone if she successfully completed the video.
