Jiang Xiaoguo, after some hesitation and learning Zhou Xun's flight was canceled, invited him to her home for dinner. Zhou Xun initially declined but was tempted by the various delicious dishes Xiaoguo listed and accompanied her home. Jiang Mama was exceptionally enthusiastic and welcoming, preparing many delicious dishes. During dinner, Jiang Mama drank with Zhou Xun, pouring him three glasses of baijiu, which caused him to become completely drunk and pass out.
Jiang Xiaoguo and her mother then helped Zhou Xun to her bedroom, where Xiaoguo worried about his potential embarrassment the next morning. The next morning, Zhou Xun woke up holding a doll Xiaoguo had given him and noticed the many award certificates adorning her room walls. He inquired about flights back to his city, specifically mentioning an evening flight back to Shenzhen. Jiang Xiaoguo checked, finding the earliest flight wouldn't depart until 9:30 AM.
Although Xiaoguo considered inviting him to stay for New Year's, Zhou Xun insisted on changing his flight. Jiang Mama came out to greet Zhou Xun and asked Xiaoguo to buy a live fish to prepare a Northeastern-style live fish hotpot for lunch. Hearing this, Zhou Xun felt a bit nauseous, but feeling awkward staying alone, he suggested accompanying Xiaoguo to the supermarket.
At the supermarket, Zhou Xun bought gifts and snacks, also purchasing a small toy for Xiaoguo, claiming it was a complimentary gift. On their way back in the car, Xiaoguo and Zhou Xun playfully fought with the toy, and Zhou Xun accidentally hit Xiaoguo's wisdom tooth, which he then learned was troubling her. During lunch, Xiaoguo suffered from a toothache that made it difficult for her to eat. Zhou Xun urged her to see a dentist, but she adamantly refused.
As Xiaoguo took a group video call from her dorm mates, Jiang Mama privately informed Zhou Xun that Xiaoguo had a mental block about visiting a dentist since her parents' early divorce, as her father was a dental surgeon. Xiaoguo had not been to a dentist since. Later, Zhou Xun took Xiaoguo to a dentist, successfully getting her wisdom tooth extracted. Feeling somewhat gloomy afterward, Xiaoguo led Zhou Xun to her father's clinic.
She recounted that as a child, after her father pulled a tooth, he would take her to the clinic's entrance to throw the tooth onto the rooftop. Zhou Xun then actively helped Xiaoguo throw her recently extracted tooth.
Xiaoguo confided in Zhou Xun about her parents' divorce, revealing it was due to her father's affair, and expressed her confusion and lingering questions about why things turned out that way, as well as her reluctance to enter the clinic to see her father. As they were about to leave, a soccer ball rolled to Xiaoguo's feet. She picked it up and returned it to a small, well-behaved boy, who thanked her.
Xiaoguo asked for his name and age, learning he was named Jiang Xiaoshu. Xiaoguo was deeply moved, remembering how she and her father had discussed naming a future younger brother "Jiang Xiaoshu." Realizing he was her half-brother, she gave him the candy Zhou Xun had given her and asked him to tell her father that she was doing well and hoped her father was too. As Jiang Papa emerged from the clinic, he looked surprised to see Xiaoguo.
From a distance, Xiaoguo smiled, waved, and greeted him before leaving without further conversation. Zhou Xun walked with Xiaoguo for a while, then, noting the time, bid her farewell and headed to the airport for his flight. Meanwhile, Liang Shuang, after finishing dinner, chatted with Liang Granny.
Granny, who had always accompanied Liang Shuang as she grew up due to her parents being busy earning money, advised her not only to buy gifts for herself but also for her parents, assuring her that her parents cared for her and suggesting she show them more filial piety. Liang Shuang, however, expressed her dislike for them, stating she felt no closeness.
She then received news of a class reunion from an old classmate, Xiaosa, a female student with whom she had always been at odds. Liang Shuang resolved to dress impressively to outshine everyone. She made a group video call to Duan Jiabao and Zhao Youxi to get their opinions on her outfit; Duan Jiabao frequently praised it, while Zhao Youxi repeatedly criticized her fashion sense.
After attending the reunion, Liang Shuang found that Xiaosa had completely transformed, and she no longer had anything in common with her classmates. Returning home, she shared her feelings with Granny, who told her that happiness isn't about comparison, but about personal contentment. Later, in her room, Liang Shuang discovered a red envelope from her parents, which she supplemented with some of her own money before preparing to give it back to them.
Separately, Luo Yan, after an argument with Luo Mama, decided not to go home for the New Year. Instead, she visited her father's grave, where she recounted her recent experiences. She planned to spend the New Year alone in the dorm, but Lu Ran's mother, having learned of her situation, had Lu Ran invite Luo Yan to their home. Lu Ran video called Luo Yan, telling her his mother wanted her to celebrate the New Year with them.
Luo Yan initially refused but eventually agreed. She carefully prepared herself before going to Lu Ran's house. Although initially a bit reserved, she was met with a very warm welcome from Lu Ran's parents. When Lu Ran's mother mentioned making dumplings, Luo Yan actively volunteered to help. As Lu Ran was about to join them, he received a New Year's call from his tutoring student, Zhao Cheng, who was the son of Zhao Changming and Qu Wan.
Lu Ran quickly ended the call. Meanwhile, Zhao Cheng's father, Zhao Changming, asked him to write a horizontal couplet for the Spring Festival, and Zhao Cheng wrote "Harmonious Family." Finally, Duan Jiabao, who had started a business with Liang Shuang and earned some money, saved it to present to her parents as a New Year's gift. Her parents doted on her but showed some neglect towards Duan Zhenyu, causing him to feel jealous and lost due to their differential treatment. Noticing his low spirits, Duan Jiabao went to his room to comfort him.
