Zhou Xun initiates a public recruitment for an assistant position, a role Jiang Xiaoguo eagerly pursues, hoping for a promising career. Upon arriving at the company, Jiang Xiaoguo discovers that Wendy is absent on sick leave and is asked by HR to temporarily cover the front desk for two days. Although initially reluctant, Jiang Xiaoguo agrees. She proactively reviews and organizes applicants' resumes for Zhou Xun, who, despite calling her meddlesome, ultimately utilizes her efforts during the interviews.
When it's Jiang Xiaoguo's turn to interview, she is the last applicant but is directly rejected by Zhou Xun. Later, Zhou Xun instructs Jiang Xiaoguo to direct an interviewee from Lanhe to his office at 3 PM. However, Mr. Su Sr. , Su Hang's father, arrives instead. Jiang Xiaoguo mistakes him for the applicant, informs him that it's not yet time, and makes him wait in the reception area.
While Jiang Xiaoguo is downstairs running an errand for Zhou Xun (picking up a cake/takeout), Director Chen recognizes Mr. Su Sr. and escorts him to Su Hang's office. Mr. Su Sr. has come to Plunge to discuss investment strategy, advocating for a balanced portfolio that includes traditional industries, arguing that focusing solely on high-risk, high-return emerging industries is too risky. Zhou Xun vehemently disagrees, dismissing traditional investments as merely "picking up others' leftovers."
Su Hang attempts to mediate as tensions rise, but Mr. Su Sr. , angered by Zhou Xun's stance, temporarily leaves the office to cool off. Upon his return, he is again stopped by Jiang Xiaoguo, who, still unaware of his identity, prevents him from re-entering his son's office (either to vent or retrieve his bag). Zhou Xun, witnessing the confrontation from inside, finds it amusing. Su Hang quickly intervenes to pull his father away.
Realizing her significant mistake, Jiang Xiaoguo nervously explains to Zhou Xun, who unexpectedly offers her a chance: if she can find a new investment project, she might still become his assistant. Meanwhile, Luo Yan and Lu Ran visit an art exhibition where they spot Zhao Changming with another woman entering a special exhibition area.
Luo Yan immediately suspects Zhao Changming of infidelity, a distressing discovery as her mother, who had been single since her father's death, had recently found what Luo Yan believed to be true love with Zhao Changming. This revelation leaves Luo Yan unable to concentrate on her studies. She considers writing a note to warn her mother but ultimately decides against it, either due to hesitation or a desire to investigate further.
Following Zhao Changming to a cake shop, Luo Yan discovers he picks up a wedding anniversary cake ordered by her mother. Researching him online, she finds that Zhao Changming is already married to a woman named Qu Wan, leading Luo Yan to conclude that her mother is unknowingly involved as the "other woman."
In other events, Jiang Xiaoguo comments on Liang Shuang's recent surge in social media video views and fast-growing followers, expressing envy at how easily Liang Shuang earns money. Duan Jiabao instinctively defends Liang Shuang, causing Jiang Xiaoguo and Luo Yan to sense something unusual, prompting Duan Jiabao to quickly change the subject. Rhythm in Heart, a client, requests more commute photos from Liang Shuang.
After shooting at school, Duan Jiabao and Liang Shuang send the photos, but Cindy, the representative, is dissatisfied and requests a reshoot with new outfits. Liang Shuang is annoyed and suggests Duan Jiabao be more assertive, but Duan Jiabao, though embarrassed, agrees to reshoot, promising to be tougher next time. Following the reshoot, Duan Jiabao goes to buy iced coffee and returns to find Liang Shuang exhausted, asleep leaning on luggage/to the side, with her feet blistered by high heels.
The client is very pleased with the reshot photos. When Liang Shuang messages Cindy about payment, she is told the collaboration was a free service. Liang Shuang realizes Duan Jiabao has deceived her and, ignoring Duan Jiabao's attempts to explain, angrily confronts Cindy at Rhythm in Heart. There, Liang Shuang learns she had previously misspelled the client's brand name, causing Cindy to be furious with Duan Jiabao.
To avoid upsetting Liang Shuang, Duan Jiabao had secretly offered a free set of photos as compensation and planned to personally cover the advertising fee, tricking Liang Shuang into reshooting. Feeling immense guilt after discovering Duan Jiabao's sacrifices and cover-ups, Liang Shuang decides to study for and take the English CET-6 exam. She also secretly deletes information about photo agents she had posted on a job search website.
A misunderstanding arises when Jiang Xiaoguo observes Liang Shuang placing her cosmetics on Duan Jiabao's desk and speaking rudely to her, even complaining that the cosmetics picked up the smell of Duan Jiabao's snacks. Jiang Xiaoguo mistakenly believes Liang Shuang is bullying Duan Jiabao. Duan Jiabao tries to explain the true nature of their relationship but is interrupted by Jiang Xiaoguo and unable to clarify. Meanwhile, Su Hang seeks funds from his father, Mr. Su Sr.
, to expand the company's business. Mr. Su Sr. agrees to provide the money but imposes a condition: a new executive director must be appointed to limit Zhou Xun's power. Su Hang, needing the funds, reluctantly agrees. He wishes to find a suitable candidate himself, but Mr. Su Sr. reveals he has already selected someone for the position. In a separate event, Duan Zhenyu's relationship with his team captain improves. He makes a deal with the captain, trading Jiang Xiaoguo's WeChat contact for three months of fencing sparring.
