Ming Rixin, the daughter of the Mingri Group's chairman, spent her time at home painting portraits of Quan Zimo, clearly missing him. Her mother teased her about her affections, while her father, Chairman Ming, was informed by his secretary that Ye Chengshu had returned to China and intended to restart the Mulin Town project. Deciding this matter required his personal attention, Chairman Ming chose to return to China and invited Ming Rixin to accompany him.

Meanwhile, Ye Chengshu and Gu Lingse arrived in Mulin Town to visit his childhood friend, Su Zhe, and Su Nian. Su Nian was delighted to see Ye Chengshu and, curious about his relationship with Gu Lingse, cautiously asked about the rumors. Ye Chengshu simply stated he was in a relationship and dismissed the internet gossip about company contracts. Soon after, Su Zhe and Uncle Su returned.

Uncle Su initially expressed anger at Ye Chengshu for leaving Mulin Town years ago without a word, but quickly softened. Ye Chengshu explained his intention to develop Mulin Town. Uncle Su then shared that Ye Chengshu's father, Ye Nanchuan, had once undertaken a large-scale ecological project called "Shizishui" in the back mountain, building beautiful bamboo houses there before his health declined and the project was abandoned.

Intrigued, Ye Chengshu decided he and Gu Lingse needed to visit the site to assess the feasibility of reusing the structures for his own development plans. Despite Uncle Su's warnings about the danger, Ye Chengshu and Gu Lingse set off. Elsewhere, two managers from the Future Group were seen with Secretary Bei, an associate of Gu Huaiheng. They discussed a development project, with Secretary Bei confidently assuring them that Chairman Gu Huaiheng’s investment was guaranteed.

Back at Su Nian's house, Secretary Jin, Ye Chengshu's assistant, impressed Su Nian with her academic background and successful career at a young age. Su Nian, aspiring to work with Ye Chengshu, inquired about internship opportunities at the Future Group, to which Secretary Jin offered to check for openings. As Ye Chengshu and Gu Lingse ascended the back mountain, they unexpectedly encountered Quan Zimo, who was also conducting research for the Mingri Group regarding a new project in Mulin Town.

Quan Zimo immediately displayed hostility towards Ye Chengshu and tried to persuade Gu Lingse to leave with him. However, Ye Chengshu intervened, and Gu Lingse sternly reminded Quan Zimo to focus on his professional duties. A visibly jealous Quan Zimo eventually departed. Continuing their journey, Gu Lingse nearly slipped, but Ye Chengshu quickly caught her, creating an intimate moment.

They reached a unique bamboo bridge, which Ye Chengshu explained was one of only two in the world built without damaging the environment, a testament to his father's vision for the "Shizishui" project. Upon arriving at the "Shizishui" site, Ye Chengshu discovered a work ID badge belonging to Dong Tang, Assistant President of Dingzhuang Group. He concealed the badge from Gu Lingse and abruptly announced they would not proceed further that day, leaving Gu Lingse confused.

Back in Mulin Town, Secretary Jin grew worried about Ye Chengshu and Gu Lingse's prolonged absence as night fell. She went out to search for them and found them, expressing her concern about them being in the dangerous forest alone. Ye Chengshu quickly instructed Secretary Jin to drive Gu Lingse back, claiming he had something personal to attend to. Later, Ye Chengshu contacted Jiang Wenbin, revealing his discovery of Dong Tang's ID badge from Dingzhuang Group at the "Shizishui" site.

He shared his suspicion that Gu Lingse was withholding information about Dingzhuang Group's prior involvement in Mulin Town. Jiang Wenbin, however, admitted to having worked privately with Gu Huaiheng on Dingzhuang Group’s research in Mulin Town, explaining that Gu Lingse would naturally be unaware. He urged Ye Chengshu not to worry, yet Ye Chengshu remained unconvinced, still harboring doubts about Jiang Wenbin’s complete honesty.

Meanwhile, Gu Huaiheng telephoned Gu Lingse, instructing her to attend an upcoming art exhibition and acquire the painting "Useless to be Useful" by Ming Tianyin, the president of Mingri Group, at any cost. He emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition, anticipating that Ye Chengshu might also attempt to secure Mingri Group's investment.

Ye Chengshu, after discussing the Mingri Group with his brother and realizing their potential interest in Mulin Town, also decided to attend the exhibition to forge a connection with Ming Tianyin. At the art exhibition, Ye Chengshu and Gu Lingse encountered each other, both understanding the other's underlying motive: to establish a relationship with Mingri Group. During the auction for Ming Tianyin's painting "Useless to be Useful," Gu Lingse, representing Dingzhuang Group, placed a bid of ten million.

Ye Chengshu, however, made an unconventional bid of only 50. This unusual offer caught Ming Tianyin's attention, leading him to accept Ye Chengshu's bid and invite him to his office, much to Gu Lingse's admiration.
