Ten years ago, only the Crown Prince, Gu Yan, and Ning Yi knew about the matter. The Crown Prince feared that Ning Yi would use this investigation as an excuse to uncover events from eighteen years ago, so he implicitly and explicitly threatened Gu Yan not to speak of it. To resolve the matter of the Great Cheng remnants, the Crown Prince could only pin the blame on Qiu Mingying.

Even though he knew the mother and her two children were the wife and children of Gu Yan's deceased elder brother, he still had to act. The personal guards of Chang Hai were the ones who pursued Feng Zhiwei that day. Xin Ziyan sighed, lamenting that although their love ran deep, it could not come to fruition, because Qiu Mingying was Gu Heng's widow, and Feng Zhiwei was Gu Heng's orphan, meaning she had a vendetta against him for her father's death.
