Prime Minister Liang, furious over Fahai's perceived trickery, is then confronted by Qin San, who suggests that Fahai's sudden change of heart might be due to Xu Xian's powerful unknown assistance, and proposes seeking more potent masters. Liang scoffs at the idea of trusting wizards again, having just been deceived by Fahai.

At that moment, Wang Daoling bursts into the mansion, uninvited, claiming to possess potent magic and warning Liang of a "blood light" and "misfortune for his descendants" in his house, advising him not to go out to "avoid the disaster." Liang dismisses him as absurd and orders his guards to seize him. Daoling, claiming he only helps the pre-destined, departs. Shortly after, Liang’s carriage is ambushed, and Wang Daoling heroically intervenes, saving him.

Impressed by Daoling's "powerful magic," Liang thanks him and asks for help with his current predicaments. Daoling interprets a written character as Liang being "trapped in a mountain and besieged on all sides," facing a significant jinx. Refusing payment, Daoling asserts that Liang's misfortunes are due to "someone blocking the path ahead," identifying this person as Xu Xian.

Daoling promises his plan will not only help Liang overcome his troubles but also lead to Xu Xian's complete ruin, with his family ruined and reputation destroyed. Lord Mu's Consort unexpectedly begins a difficult, premature labor. All imperial physicians are unavailable, having been conveniently called away to attend to the Dowager Empress, other consorts, the third prince, and even Prime Minister Liang. A servant, recalling the high praise for Physician Xu, suggests inviting Xu Xian from Baohe Clinic.

A desperate Lord Mu agrees. Meanwhile, Wang Daoling reveals his plot to Prime Minister Liang: using heinous villains as sacrificial offerings to unleash "evil spirit" that will cause Consort Mu to "die with her unborn child." Since Xu Xian will be delivering, Lord Mu will blame and punish him, thus eliminating Xu Xian. Liang praises the idea. At Baohe Clinic, Xu Xian is hesitant, admitting he's never delivered a child, and suggests an experienced midwife.

However, the frantic servant insists, revealing Xu Xian was specifically recommended. Bai Suzhen, observing "dark clouds" and "heavy malevolent aura," realizes the sinister plot. She tells Xu Xian that Consort Mu is carrying twins and may need his strength, urging him to go. She then instructs Xiao Qing to set up the Nine-sky Formation, explaining that someone is using "witchcraft" to harm Consort Mu and frame Xu Xian.

With Xiao Qing's "half-goddess blood," they summon the Thunder God and Lightning Goddess. After Bai Suzhen convinces the deities of the evil scheme, they unleash a powerful storm, causing Wang Daoling's magic to backfire and severely injuring him. A furious Liang Mohan berates Daoling for the failure.

Daoling, unable to continue his direct assault on Consort Mu, assures Liang that the "evil spirit" has been guided to Xu Xian's home, as the "evils had seen Xu Xian's portrait before they die." Liang orders Xu Xian killed at all costs. Consort Mu successfully gives birth to a boy and a girl. Lord Mu is overjoyed and profusely thanks Xu Xian, who discovered the second baby after the first was born, saving them both.

Xu Xian mentions Lord Mu saving him from prison earlier, but Lord Mu clarifies it was "someone helped you in my name," a mystery he still ponders. Xu Xian silently understands it was Bai Suzhen. Despite the successful delivery, Bai Suzhen senses that the threat "has not finished." Upon their return home, Xu Jiaorong warmly greets Xu Xian and Bai Suzhen, having prepared water with pomelo leaves for them to wash their hands, explaining its folk belief of expelling evils.

Xu Xian, showcasing his "mind reading," deduces the true meaning: "pomelo" (youzi) is a homophone for "having a child" (youzi). Secretly listening outside, they overhear a delighted Gongfu vowing to wash with pomelo leaves daily. Bai Suzhen, claiming her "child reading" is more potent, confirms Jiaorong's pregnancy, promising it will be evident within a month. Xu Xian is overjoyed, recounting his sister's sacrifices after their parents' deaths: she refused many suitors, insisting on marrying only someone who would accept him.

Gongfu eventually agreed, bringing joy to their parents "in the underworld" now that Jiaorong would have a child after years of being childless. When Xu Xian asks if Bai Suzhen prayed for their own child, she is initially evasive, then asks what if they are "doomed to have no child." Xu Xian calmly accepts, stating their "deep love may be envied by the immortal," and he is content simply having her, embracing her "different" nature.

That night, under the growing influence of Fahai's inner demon, which had entered her body, Jiaorong is plagued by a nightmare: she sees Bai Suzhen transformed into a snake demon consuming them. Gongfu dismisses it as a mere dream, urging her not to worry. Jiaorong, still disturbed, questions why Xu Xian "doesn't eat meat after his resurgence," though Gongfu again rationalizes it as a post-illness dietary change and warns her against "disturbing our family" with such thoughts.

In the marketplace, townsfolk praise Physician Xu and Physician Bai for their generosity, calling Bai Suzhen a "living Buddha." Ruyi, overhearing, becomes enraged, denouncing Bai Suzhen as a "demon" and accusing the people of being "crazy" for believing her "demonic lies." Xu Jiaorong, now seemingly under the influence of Fahai's inner demon, approaches Ruyi. Jiaorong apologizes for past misunderstandings, now believing Ruyi was "right" about Bai Suzhen.

She claims "Suzhen is abnormal" and a "snake demon" who has brought an "unstable life" to their home and bewitched Xu Xian. Jiaorong then proposes they "make a plan and kill her," to which Ruyi, delighted, agrees, vowing to "make Bai Suzhen die a terrible death." Unbeknownst to them, the inner demon within Jiaorong revels, finding Ruyi's "hatred is like a panacea that empowers me."

An elderly man rushes into Baohe Clinic, pleading with Xu Xian to save his wife from a sudden epilepsy attack. Xu Xian, compassionate, grabs his medicine box and follows. On the way, Xu Xian notices the old man's surprising agility and the increasingly remote path, making him suspicious.

When he tries to feign forgetting medicine to turn back, the old man reveals his true, youthful identity, pulls out a dagger, and declares Xu Xian must die for offending "someone you should not offend," implying Prime Minister Liang. As the assassin attacks, Lord Mu arrives with soldiers. He warns them that the assailant is "strange and powerful," impervious to weapons, as he is a death row convict controlled by Wang Daoling's magic.

The situation is dire until Ruyi appears, arguing with Xu Jiaorong (who is seemingly still under the inner demon's influence), insisting that Xu Xian should not be harmed. Ruyi, expressing her love for Xu Xian despite his past actions, crushes Wang Daoling's puppet-controlling orb, saving Xu Xian's life.

In a distant location, Wang Daoling rages to Prime Minister Liang that his puppet failed to kill Xu Xian and even strengthened Xu Xian's bond with Lord Mu, raising fears of Xu Xian exposing their crimes to the Emperor. Daoling struggles to explain the failure, but Liang Mohan is unconvinced. Bai Suzhen admonishes Xu Xian for risking his life to lure out the mastermind.

Xu Xian explains it was necessary to uncover the plot and prevent future trouble, confirming his suspicion that "the person must be Liang Mohan." He believes Liang still thinks he possesses the "evidences that my dad collected" about Liang's corruption, and with Xu Xian growing "closer to Lord Mu" (who "is addressing affairs of state to remove the treacherous officers"), Liang feels threatened.

Bai Suzhen suggests presenting his father's evidence to the Emperor to "defeat Liang Mohan," which Xu Xian agrees would be ideal, but wonders how to find it after so much time. Bai Suzhen then reveals she possesses "the treasure of Jingsong" and can help them. Using Jing Song's treasure, they travel back in time to an afternoon where Xu Xian's father, Xu Huairen, is reciting a melancholic poem.

Xu Huairen, apologizing for his "identity as a criminal," invites Xu Xian to share a drink. A waiter comments on their striking resemblance. Xu Huairen introduces himself as Xu Huairen, style name Deshao, and Xu Xian introduces himself as Xu Xian, style name Hanwen. Huairen is astonished by their shared surname, his son's identical name, and their similar appearances, musing if they were "family 500 years ago." Xu Xian agrees.

Huairen then expresses sorrow at being "demoted and have to go far away from my home," hoping his own son "will be as outstanding as you." Xu Xian is visibly moved and assures his father that his son "will meet your expectation."

When Xu Xian asks about the reason for his demotion, Huairen sighs, attributing it to trusting "a villain" and falling "a prey to a plot," lamenting that he "can't trust anyone" now and is powerless to "punish the bad people." Huairen's guards then interrupt, insisting they must depart.
