Having defeated the assassins who had been controlling Mo Yihuai, Liu Qianshui manages to weaken their influence. Meanwhile, Mo Yihuai, struggling against the demonic power within him, strikes Mo Liancheng. Just as he is about to harm Qu Xiaotan, his true self resurfaces. Unwilling to hurt her, he turns the dark energy on himself, ending his own life. Prince Xiaoxuan and Yu Hao arrive with reinforcements, but it is too late.
Mo Liancheng explains to the Emperor that an evil force had controlled Mo Yihuai, and he ultimately sacrificed himself to protect the woman he loved. In his final moments, a lucid Mo Yihuai lies in the Emperor's arms, unable to recall killing the real Tan'er. He apologizes for his wrongdoings and for failing her. To grant him peace, Qu Xiaotan, posing as Tan'er, forgives him, allowing him to die peacefully in his grieving father's embrace.
The Emperor confesses to Mo Liancheng that he had favored Mo Yihuai due to his strong resemblance to their grandfather, the late Emperor, and asks for forgiveness. Mo Liancheng remarks that his brother likely never wanted to be a substitute for anyone. With the political turmoil settled, Mo Liancheng and Qu Xiaotan decide to spend their remaining two years together peacefully, leaving the palace and its affairs behind. Time passes.
Qu Jianglin is exiled, marking the end of the Qu family's influence. Liu Qianshui occasionally speaks of a mysterious Xuanling Continent, hinting it holds the secrets of the couple's fate but would only say that all was destined. Qu Xiaotan goes into a difficult labor, suffering heavy bleeding. Liu Qianshui intervenes with his powers, saving her and helping deliver their son, whom Mo Liancheng names Mo Yunyu, nicknamed Yu'er.
However, Liu Qianshui warns that the Soul Bead's power within Xiaotan is now a threat to the newborn. For Yu'er's safety, she can never touch or hold her own child. Knowing her time is running out as her 25th birthday approaches, Qu Xiaotan accepts her fate. Mo Liancheng takes their son to the palace to be raised by the Emperor. Xiaotan tearfully entrusts Yu'er's care to her loyal maid, Jingxin, who promises to protect the boy with her life. Feeling at peace, Xiaotan embraces Mo Liancheng, telling him nothing can separate them now. As they hold each other, they vanish without a trace.
