Inside the deep palace, Declared Consort, who had not stepped outside for many years, suddenly heard the voice of her senior brother, Luo Qingyang. Immediately after came Xiao Se’s loud shout of “I refuse to accept this! ”, his voice echoing throughout Tianqi City. Xiao Se channeled everything he had ever learned—Limitless Staff, Bagua Heart Gate, Cloud-Treading Wind-Stepping Technique, and the Sword Technique of Sundering Nations—and launched a frenzied attack at Luo Qingyang.

Luo Qingyang froze for a moment, then responded with an even fiercer assault, breaking all nine of Xiao Se’s swords, forcing him into a disadvantage. Just when everyone thought the outcome was decided, the Heaven-Slashing Sword broke through the window and shot toward the palace gate, its piercing whistle echoing through the entire Tianqi City, hovering above Xiao Se. “A sword from the west, passed down for a thousand years,” the world’s greatest sword drew awe from the crowd.

Xiao Se raised the longsword and saw a sky full of stars; behind it emerged mountains, rivers, and seas. Luo Qingyang vowed to embody heaven and earth and, with a swing of his sword, decided life and death. Suddenly, the mournful song ceased, the sorrowful wind stilled. Both Xiao Se and Luo Qingyang were gravely wounded.

Xiao Chong noticed Luo Qingyang’s unusual expression, and the others also saw signs of demonic possession—if true, it could mean the end of the entire city. Luo Qingyang, however, remained silent, and the Nine Songs Sword instantly flew out from the Qianjin Platform, heading straight for the palace in an attempt to assassinate Ming Dedi. Luckily, Qi Tianchen and Xiao Yueli joined forces to block it.

The young eunuch serving Ming Dedi, seeing the situation was dire, rushed out and shouted that the Emperor had died. Although Xiao Yueli caught him in time, the eunuch committed suicide with poison on the spot. Ming Dedi was critically wounded, barely alive. Mu Chunfeng comforted Hua Jin, believing there was still a sliver of hope.

Rumors of the Emperor’s death quickly spread, and everyone feared that if Luo Qingyang’s demonic possession intensified, he would lose his mind and kill everyone. Just as Luo Qingyang was about to swing his sword to destroy the city, Declared Consort’s voice rang out like thunder. The blood-red hue in Luo Qingyang’s eyes faded, replaced by a rare clarity. After Luo Qingyang left, Xiao Se collapsed to the ground, unconscious. Everyone hurriedly sent him back to Prince Yong’an’s residence.

Although the rumor of the Emperor’s death was false, the citizens of Tianqi City believed it. Xiao Yu’s next plan was to eliminate all threats and seize the throne. But both the Sword Immortal of Wrath and Wushuang were severely injured and could not guarantee Xiao Chong’s safety, advising him to make plans early. Xiao Chong, however, refused to abandon Tianqi City and had no interest in the throne.

Xiao Yueli earnestly pleaded with Hua Jin to at least keep Ming Dedi alive through the night, even if he couldn’t be healed. Hua Jin promised to do his best. Declared Consort left the palace to meet with Luo Qingyang and healed his wounds, agreeing to leave Tianqi with him—on the condition that they take her two sons, Xiao Yu and Wu Xin, with them.

Because Xiao Se was gravely wounded and unconscious with no sign of waking, Sikong Qianluo stayed by his bedside, pouring out her heart, reminiscing about the past with sorrow. Ji Xue was moved by her words and offered to treat Xiao Se, transferring all her internal energy to him. Meanwhile, Ye Ruoyi waited outside with Lei Wujie. The two shared mutual understanding and finally expressed their feelings for each other.

Xiao Yu brought Long Xie and Wu Xin to Prince Yong’an’s residence. Ye Ruoyi and the others could barely resist. Wu Xin had lost all reason, becoming a killing machine and severely injuring Sikong Qianluo. Ordinary medicine men still have weaknesses, but Wu Xin, who was raised in a monastery with compassion in his heart, became a Golden-Body Medicine Man upon falling into demonic possession—virtually invincible.

It was precisely because of this that Xiao Se, watching Wu Xin’s martial techniques, pondered why someone like Wu Xin—so good at reading hearts—would fail and become a medicine man. With his skills, he should have easily escaped—unless someone he trusted had already prepared a way out for him. Realizing this, Xiao Se quickly reminded Lei Wujie to use the Invincible Demon-Suppressing Divine Fist. As expected, the righteous power of the fist suppressed Wu Xin’s demonic energy.

Seizing the opportunity, Xiao Se approached Wu Xin and repeatedly urged him to look into his eyes. Images of the past emerged in Wu Xin’s mind, and with these memories, his consciousness was awakened. Wu Xin’s shattered gaze regained clarity, just like the once peerless and enchanting monk he had been. Xiao Se was both joyful and relieved. Yet, at this moment, Xiao Yu still refused to admit defeat. Just then, Luo Qingyang descended from the sky with Declared Consort.

Lei Wujie was on the verge of tears, too exhausted to continue fighting. Everyone knew Xiao Yu was ruthless and cunning, willing to use any means to achieve his ends. But no one expected him to poison Declared Consort and turn her into a medicine person to blackmail Luo Qingyang and Wu Xin into submission. Wu Xin saw through Xiao Yu’s scheme and easily expelled the poison and parasite from Declared Consort’s body.

Seeing this, Luo Qingyang was filled with killing intent and attempted to kill Xiao Yu, but was stopped by Declared Consort. Xiao Yu always believed that Declared Consort was never a good mother and didn’t care about his feelings. Luo Qingyang furiously scolded Xiao Yu for his rebellious actions and revealed the truth about the two times Declared Consort was trapped in the palace.

Xiao Se, moved and envious of the bond between Xiao Yu and Declared Consort, regretted that Xiao Yu hadn’t cherished it. He made it clear he would not let Xiao Yu go unpunished for his past misdeeds. After learning the truth, Xiao Yu realized he had no way out. Without hesitation, he stabbed himself in the chest with a dagger. Even in death, his face showed defiance and stubbornness. At that moment, snowflakes began to fall.

Xiao Se recalled a snowy night years ago when a young Xiao Yu knelt outside, often mocked by the princes because of rumors about his mother, always losing to Xiao Se and ending up in second place. Even when Xiao Se showed kindness, he never appreciated it and vowed that he would surpass him one day.
