The storms in Tianqi City had not ceased—exactly as Xiao Se anticipated. Jin Xuan was placed under confinement by Ming Dedi, but he was ultimately just a eunuch and could not stir up much within the court. However, for Xiao Yu, it was equivalent to severing the arm of the Lord Chi’s residence. Now, the Ghost Doctor Night Raven had turned Yue Ji and Wu Xin into living medicine puppets.

Xiao Yu was eager to witness Xiao Se killed by a friend with his own eyes. After seeing Ming Dedi, Hua Jin was deeply troubled. She had previously discovered that the emperor's illness was caused by poisoned lamp oil. But if the culprit was not found, similar incidents could still occur. Xiao Se, hiding it from Ye Ruoyi and Sikong Qianluo, took Lei Wujie to secretly meet Su Muyu, planning to join forces against Su Changhe and infiltrate the Lord Chi’s residence to rescue Wu Xin. Though Su Muyu was a killer from Dark River, he was entirely different from typical assassins. Most of the time, he was like a swordsman of emotion, loyalty, and humanity—something Su Changhe could never match.

Back when Su Changhe became the patriarch of Dark River, he vowed to lead the clan into the light. But after aligning with Xiao Yu, his actions betrayed that goal, causing Dark River to spiral toward destruction. So when facing Xiao Se’s invitation, Su Muyu had no choice but to agree—knowing it was the only option left.

Prince Nanjue, Ao Yu, sent word to Lord Chi’s residence, informing them that the envoy would arrive in Tianqi that evening and had arranged a meeting at the remote Liuxian Tower. Xiao Yu, though cautious, could not know it was all part of Xiao Se’s plan. Xiao Chong lamented with Cang Ming that things seemed calm on the surface but were filled with undercurrents.

Sensing Xiao Chong’s heavy mood, Cang Ming quickly changed the topic, mentioning that tonight was the Lantern Festival, and the entire city would be beautifully lit. Lei Wujie returned to the manor and was teased by Ye Ruoyi. She smiled softly and then invited Sikong Qianluo to admire the lanterns.

Since Xiao Se had to enter the palace to meet the emperor and could not accompany them to the festival, Sikong Qianluo was visibly disappointed and complained endlessly—until she turned and found Xiao Se standing beside her. Xiao Se noticed Su Muyu standing under the bridge and, as Ye Ruoyi and Sikong Qianluo released lanterns into the river, called Lei Wujie to set off.

At the same time, Fairy Rui gazed at the lanterns, reminiscing about her past with Tang Lian. Years ago, she entered Xueyue City to repay Sikong Changfeng. He had promised that if she found someone she loved and married, she could regain her freedom. But now she and Tang Lian were separated by life and death. Just as she mourned in sorrow, she suddenly received word of Xiao Yu’s movements.

A group of assassins lay in ambush, waiting for the Lord Chi’s carriage to pass so they could lure out Su Changhe. Xiao Se, Su Muyu, and Lei Wujie joined forces, but still couldn’t overcome the enemy. Fei Xuan and Li Fansong arrived just in time to aid Su Muyu. In the end, Su Changhe was wounded by Fairy Rui’s Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles. Realizing his mistakes at the moment of death, he died under Su Muyu’s hand.

Xiao Se rushed to the Lord Chi’s residence. Upon learning of this, Xiao Chong immediately notified Sikong Qianluo and Ye Ruoyi. Although Xiao Se found Yue Ji and Wu Xin there, Wu Xin had completely lost his mind. Xiao Se called out Wu Xin’s name, and Wu Xin regained clarity for a brief moment before falling under the control of the Ghost Doctor Night Raven again.

Lord Chi, Xiao Yu, returned just in time and ordered that Xiao Se must not leave alive. But before Wu Xin could act, Sikong Qianluo and Xiao Chong descended from above. Xiao Chong stood firm and warned that if Wu Xin attacked, Xiao Yu would be charged with killing two royal princes. Sure enough, Xiao Yu hesitated, afraid of implicating himself, and could only watch as Xiao Chong and the others left. Furious but helpless, he could find no outlet for his rage—luckily, Xiao Se was not seriously injured.
