That day, Lord Langya stood on the platform in white robes fluttering. Li Xinyue arrived with sword in hand, her expression frosty. Thirty thousand Langya soldiers waited outside the city, ready to invade Tianqi at Lord Langya’s command. Li Hanyi appeared with her sword pointed at Emperor Mingde, declaring she would take both Lord Langya and Li Xinyue away. To prevent pointless sacrifice, Lord Langya committed suicide on the spot.

Afterward, Li Xinyue was gravely wounded and returned to the Sword Tomb to live her final days. Among Tianqi’s many ministers and princes, only Xiao Se spoke out in defense of Lord Langya. Alone in court, he passionately argued, moving the assembly to tears—yet in the end, it only provoked imperial wrath. Back then, Lord Langya wished for the Four Guardian tokens to be passed on, continuing their duty.

Li Hanyi handed the Azure Dragon token to Lei Wujie, entrusting him as the new Azure Dragon of the East. News that Xiao Se and Wu Xin were traveling together spread throughout the martial world and Tianqi. Emperor Mingde grew uneasy. To investigate, he summoned Lord Bai, Xiao Chong, who suffered from an eye disease but was known for his prudence, and sent him personally to Xueyue City.

The emperor promised that if Xiao Se returned, he would pardon him, restore his royal status, and reinstate him as Prince Yong’an. Early one morning, Lei Wujie brought explosive news to Xiao Se: three days later, Sikong Qianluo, daughter of Snowfall Villa’s Second Master Sikong Changfeng, would hold a martial contest for marriage. Xiao Se was puzzled and asked for the backstory, which traced back three years to the Jiangnan Duan family.

When Sikong Qianluo came of age, the Duan family’s young master proposed marriage, inviting elders from ten major sects and offering a generous betrothal gift. Sikong Changfeng disapproved of Duan Xuanyi and devised a delay tactic: postpone the proposal to a martial contest three years later, requiring any suitor to defeat Sikong Qianluo.

Although both Tang Lian and Lei Wujie dislike the Duan brothers and do not want Qianluo to marry either of them, each already has someone in their heart, and fear stepping in would anger Fairy Rui and Ye Ruoyi. Due to the situation’s complexity, even Sikong Changfeng was overwhelmed and had to seek help from Yin Luoxia. Her disciple, Luo Mingxuan, is the most outstanding young talent in Xueyue City.

Trained in Luoxia’s Broken Wild Goose Palm, a single strike could split the Yangtze River, making ordinary disciples unable to compete. That night, Lei Wujie and Tang Lian approach Xiao Se to discuss strategy, hoping he will make a small sacrifice for the sake of the Snowfall Four’s friendship. On the day of the contest, Duan Xuanheng is first to fight, easily defeating many disciples with ruthless moves, ignoring bonds of sect brotherhood.

Then Luo Mingxuan takes the stage, landing a clean Broken Wild Goose Palm that knocks Duan Xuanheng off stage instantly, though he is also wounded by a poisoned sword. Xiao Chong's entourage arrives at the contest grounds, but he lingers outside, secretly observing Xiao Se. Duan Xuanyi then charges into battle with Luo Mingxuan, clearly more powerful than his brother. Under normal circumstances, Luo Mingxuan could easily win, but Duan Xuanheng had already poisoned the blade, causing severe injury.

Yin Luoxia has no choice but to declare Duan Xuanyi the winner and entrust Luo Mingxuan’s recovery to Sikong Changfeng. At this moment, Xiao Se walks out alone. Though his lightness skill, Cloudstep, has improved, neither Zang Ming nor Xiao Chong can sense any internal energy from him and believe his martial arts are indeed lost. Xiao Se throws two Thunderbolt Orbs from the Lei Clan, catching Duan Xuanyi off guard.

As Duan believes Xiao Se has nothing left, Xiao Se surprises him again with Tang Lian’s three Judge Scrolls, utterly defeating him. Xiao Se takes first place but immediately forfeits upon seeing Sikong Qianluo. The Duan family is stunned, then accuses Xueyue City of rigging the match, sparking a fierce confrontation. Seeing the timing is right, Xiao Chong personally appears to quell the conflict. Everyone kneels in respect—except Xiao Se, who stands tall and stares straight at Xiao Chong.
