Stay With Me Episode 20 Recap
> Stay With Me Recap
Late one night at Ling Long, Su Fei and Cao Zhong were retrieving Su Fei's forgotten cellphone from a meeting room when they heard a noise coming from Huo Xiao's office. Cao Zhong urged Su Fei to hide, but she insisted on checking the office, only to find it empty. As they turned to leave, Kang Xing, who was secretly inside taking photos, accidentally triggered an alarm.
Hearing the loud alarm, Su Fei and Cao Zhong fled quickly to avoid exposing their secret relationship. The next morning, Huo Xiao reviewed the CCTV footage and discovered Su Fei and Cao Zhong as the suspicious individuals. Faced with undeniable evidence, Su Fei publicly admitted to her colleagues that Cao Zhong was her boyfriend. When Li Weiwei asked if she would choose love or work given Ling Long and D. U.'
s rivalry, Su Fei unhesitatingly chose love, believing that she and Cao Zhong could overcome any obstacles together. Li Weiwei, who had become softer since her amnesia, needed to seriously consider her decision. Meanwhile, Chen Yidu, displaying his cold and domineering nature, gave Cao Zhong an ultimatum: break up with Su Fei or resign. Li Weiwei chose to believe Su Fei was not a mole, asserting that love and the pursuit of happiness were everyone's rights.
She encouraged Su Fei to persevere, balance hard work with love, and expressed her belief in a good outcome for the couple. Su Fei excitedly called Cao Zhong to share this good news. On the phone, Cao Zhong, unwilling to tell his girlfriend about Chen Yidu's ultimatum, forced a smile and reassured Su Fei of his commitment, pretending that his job was secure. However, he was secretly distraught.
A subsequent phone call from his father, detailing his younger brother's tuition, uniform, bike, and computer needs, further highlighted Cao Zhong's financial burden. Cao Zhong later resigned from D. U. to protect his relationship. Meanwhile, Tiffany called Su Fei, angrily accusing her of selfishness for allowing Cao Zhong to resign, knowing his family depended on him.
Li Weiwei confronted Chen Yidu, outraged by his decision to force Cao Zhong's resignation and interfere with their relationship, asking why he would hinder others' love if he himself couldn't face his feelings. Li Weiwei then challenged Chen Yidu to a bet: if she could prove that Cao Zhong and Su Fei were willing to sacrifice their lives for each other, then Chen Yidu must reinstate Cao Zhong.
Chen Yidu agreed, adding a condition that if they instead prioritized personal gain, Li Weiwei must stop bothering him. Li Weiwei confidently accepted, telling him to prepare for defeat. To prove her point, Li Weiwei devised a test. She informed Cao Zhong that Su Fei, after learning of his resignation, had drunk excessively out of sorrow, and was now in the hospital in a coma from acute liver failure.
She claimed Su Fei needed an immediate liver transplant, and that only Cao Zhong, whose liver was compatible according to his medical report, could save her. Meanwhile, Su Fei waited anxiously at the hospital entrance for Cao Zhong. Chen Yidu tried to comfort Su Fei, saying their relationship hadn't been very long, and she was young and wouldn't have trouble finding another good man.
Su Fei fiercely rejected his words, asserting her unwavering faith that the man she chose would not abandon his sick beloved, and that they would be together no matter the difficulty. Eventually, Li Weiwei arrived with Cao Zhong. Facing Su Fei, Cao Zhong reaffirmed his decision to sacrifice his liver for her, moving Su Fei to tears. Despite this clear demonstration of love, Chen Yidu initially remained firm in his decision not to rehire Cao Zhong.
Li Weiwei had recently moved into an apartment, becoming Chen Yidu's neighbor, leaving her younger brother Leo alone in their large villa. Leo, afraid of the dark and ghosts, tried to stay with Li Weiwei. After she allowed him to sleep on her sofa for one night, she sent him back home.
He then went to Tiffany’s place, using a past grievance—that Tiffany had previously misidentified Chen Yidu's favorite fruit, causing trouble for Weiwei—as an excuse to brazenly ask to become her roommate, wondering if she minded having a handsome, charming, and sunny roommate. Thinking Chen Yidu wasn't keeping his word, Li Weiwei decided to play a trick on him.
She tricked her way into Chen Yidu's home and convinced him to drink with her on his balcony, feigning happiness for all lovers who find their way to each other. Chen Yidu pondered whether Li Weiwei had truly reverted to her former kindhearted self, someone who would go through fire and water for a friend.
After they finished an entire case of wine, Chen Yidu needed to use the restroom, only to find that Li Weiwei had locked him out on the balcony. To get back inside and gain the right to use her restroom, Chen Yidu was forced to reluctantly agree to Li Weiwei's demand to rehire Cao Zhong.
Just as the relationship between Li Weiwei and Chen Yidu began to ease, Tiffany called Chen Yidu, urging him to check his public email for strange messages, saying all employees had received them and didn't know what they meant. Chen Yidu opened his email and was furious, almost spitting blood, discovering embarrassing candid photos of himself in the restroom had been sent to all his employees.
Li Weiwei, caught in the act, attempted to flee, claiming she had accidentally sent the photos due to a shaky hand and loss of control. As Chen Yidu chased her, Li Weiwei pleaded with him not to hit her face. Unexpectedly, Chen Yidu lowered his head and fiercely kissed her instead. Meanwhile, Huo Xiao met with Ms. Fang, the eyewitness to the Paris showroom fire.
Ms. Fang's extraordinarily precise and detailed recollection of the incident, especially Chen Yidu's inner and outer clothing styles, colors, and even his tie, struck Huo Xiao as highly suspicious. He concluded that she was a pre-coached witness, suggesting that someone had deliberately arranged for them to find this witness who had rehearsed her lines beforehand.
At Ling Long, Huo Ruiyong, who disliked Li Weiwei's superior position in the company, used a business meeting to propose that Li Weiwei should shift her focus from the relatively mature bridal gown business to developing women's casual wear, arguing that this would greatly benefit Ling Long's entry into Fontaine Department Store. Provoked by his challenge, Li Weiwei declared that she would quickly make the women's casual wear department as successful as the bridal department through her efforts.
Chairman Huo then presented her with a challenge: if she could elevate the monthly women's casual wear business to one-third of the traditional bridal wear's sales within a month, she would be promoted to Senior Design Director, overseeing both departments.
Li Weiwei later discovered that she had fallen into Huo Ruiyong's trap; the company had no existing women's casual wear department, making the target an impossible task for a non-existent department to achieve one-third of Ling Long's original sales in a month. However, her loyal design team rallied around her, collectively proposing to resign from their current positions to join her in the new women's casual wear department, demonstrating their unwavering support.
