Situ Weilian went to the Jin residence early in the morning but was told by a servant that Jin Jingxue had gone out. He left some medicine behind. Jin Jingxue went to see Chi Shanying after hearing rumors that Li Yingliang had been assassinated by him. Chi Shanying denied it, saying he wanted to find Li Yingliang more than anyone. Jin Jingxue recounted Li Yingliang’s actions three days ago, and Chi Shanying concluded that Shen Zhiheng must have kidnapped him.

Chi Shanying spread the news that Shengzi had been captured to force Li Yingliang to show up. Mi Lan asked Shen Zhiheng if he would kill Li Yingliang. Although Li Yingliang had hurt her, she didn’t actually hate him. In the dark dungeon, Li Yingliang lost control under the grip of his inner demons. He accidentally discovered a wall that could be broken through, and it gave him hope.

When Shen Zhiheng returned to the dungeon, he found that Li Yingliang had dug a tunnel and escaped. Jin Jingxue returned home in despair after failing to find Li Yingliang, only to see his injured body hiding in her room. Jin Jingxue’s heart ached, and to Li Yingliang, she became his only lifeline. She carefully cleaned his wounds. Li Yingliang, paranoid, feared Shen Zhiheng would come after him.

Jin Jingxue changed his clothes and told him to rest here—she would stay by his side for the next few days. Li Yingliang was constantly on edge, even waking up suddenly in his sleep. Situ Weilian visited Jin Jingxue but was told she had gone back to her hometown, with no return date. Shen Zhiheng brought the blood amber stone close to the crow given to him by Mr. Mo.

Since it had been sent to him, it must not be simple. Situ Weilian came crying to the Shen residence, claiming to be heartbroken. Shen Zhiheng was speechless and showed him the blood amber stone, telling its story. But Situ Weilian was too preoccupied with thoughts of Jin Jingxue to care. Jin Jingxue dismissed all the servants, keeping only Xiao Tao, her childhood companion. She watched over Li Yingliang every day and was growing restless.

Li Yingliang wanted to confront Chi Shanying, believing he must strike first to rise again. Jin Jingxue was furious—his thinking was absurd. Situ Weilian called the Jin residence again, but Xiao Tao claimed to know nothing. Li Yingliang asked Jin Jingxue to bring Situ Weilian to help with something. Though angry, she complied. Shen Zhiheng immediately realized that Li Yingliang must be hiding at the Jin residence.

Situ Weilian was thrilled to hear Jin Jingxue’s voice but ended up facing Shen Zhiheng. Situ Weilian suggested they have a private talk. Shen Zhiheng and Mi Lan enjoyed a peaceful moment. He was teaching Mi Lan never to kill, as humans are different from beasts. Mi Lan didn’t fully understand but agreed anyway. Li Yingliang told Situ Weilian that if he helped him, he would match him with Jin Jingxue.

He claimed to understand her better than she did herself. Situ Weilian was furious—Jin Jingxue must be blind! But she understood what kind of person Li Yingliang was. Because she loved him, she forgave all his wrongdoings. Li Yingliang asked Situ Weilian to deliver a message to Chi Shanying, then lure Shen Zhiheng into a trap—not to harm him, but to clear his name in front of Chi Shanying. Situ Weilian initially refused but was eventually swayed by Li Yingliang’s manipulation.
