Ming Tan smiled as she reached for the jade in Jiang Xu’s hand, only to be pulled into his arms. After the kiss, Jiang Xu gazed deeply at the one he loved, full of affection. Yun Yi awoke to find Shu Jingran watching over her all night. She was touched but also a bit angry. He clearly couldn’t fight, yet when the assassins came yesterday, he didn’t try to dodge.

If he had been hurt, how could she explain to Jiang Xu—or to his family? But for Shu Jingran, nothing mattered more than her safety. Su Er Rong was very displeased about the tax repayment, but he couldn’t show it in front of Jiang Xu. Ming Tan saw Boss Wu deceiving other customers and couldn’t help but speak out. Then she bought all the fabric he had, saying she only needed him to answer a few questions.

When she asked what the material was made from, it turned out to be the work of Manager Luo from Fulu Gold House. Boss Wu also said that Wen Zong must have recognized the material as well. Ming Tan suspected Wen Zong was involved in smuggling and had Zhui Yu investigate. Zhui Yu had already found out that Wen Zong had deep ties with the Su family.

Ming Tan decided to visit Fulu Gold House herself to see what was really going on. At Fulu Gold House, Ming Tan said she wanted to buy a unique piece of jewelry. As expected, the shop assistant brought out some top-quality items.

Ming Tan took a liking to a hairpin, but just then a maid ran out saying her young lady had already set her eyes on it—and that her young lady was the elder sister of the Princess Consort of the General of Dingbei. Ming Tan was instantly intrigued. She hadn’t expected Ming Chu, married far away in Lingzhou, to still behave so arrogantly, flaunting her royal connection to bully and deceive. Ming Tan bought the hairpin.

When the maid tried to attack, Zhui Yu quickly threw her to the ground. But the maid wouldn’t give up and went to call Manager Luo, who, not wanting to offend the General’s residence, quickly sent someone to inform them. Jiang Xu and Su Er Rong went out to inspect and saw Su Er Rong’s exaggerated entourage. Jiang Xu couldn’t help making sarcastic remarks. Shu Jingran went out to meet with guards from Jin Yun Guard.

Yun Yi had given him the secret signal in advance, and the guards had seen portraits of Shu Jingran, so they would recognize him. Upon hearing there was trouble at Fulu Gold House, Su Er Rong rushed over and encountered the disguised Ming Tan. Lingzhi was relentless, but Jiang Xu directly bought the hairpin and told Lingzhi to go back and warn Ming Chu—if she didn’t learn to behave, she’d be properly disciplined.

Ming Tan was thrilled to see Jiang Xu slap her in the face so directly. Jiang Xu gave the hairpin to Ming Tan. They pretended to be meeting for the first time and chatted cheerfully. Su Er Rong, observing this, believed Ming Tan might be the key and invited her to a banquet. He also had someone inform Wen Zong that if Ming Tan truly was the "wealth-spreading fairy," then Wen Zong should take a closer look at her.

Jiang Xu and Ming Tan rode in the same carriage. Ming Tan hoped Jiang Xu would issue an order for her, but Jiang Xu, whose military merit came from real blood and battle, would not allow her to make light of it. He playfully reached out to tap Ming Tan’s nose. Just then, Su Er Rong suddenly lifted the carriage curtain. Ming Tan was startled and quickly distanced herself, scolding him for being clingy like a plaster.

At the banquet, Su Er Rong deliberately left Ming Tan and Jiang Xu alone. Hearing their playful banter, he left satisfied. Su Er Rong was deeply scheming, and Jiang Xu reminded Ming Tan to be extra careful. Su Er Rong invited many ladies and even called Qing Yu to serve. Seeing the affection between Jiang Xu and Ming Tan, Su Er Rong deliberately praised how well-matched they were and mentioned, seemingly offhandedly, that he was already married.

Wen Zong, upon seeing Ming Tan, felt an inexplicable connection. Meanwhile, Jiang Xu was already fuming, clenching his fists tightly. Su Er Rong brought out many accessories for Ming Tan to appraise. Seeing Wen Zong staring at her intently, Jiang Xu drank several more cups of wine. The corner of Ming Tan’s mouth twitched—she wondered if he was drinking wine or vinegar. Jiang Xu sent someone to the General of Dingbei's residence to reprimand Ming Chu. The old general flew into a rage, and Ming Chu was left anxious and uneasy.
