On the day before Xu Hongdou was to leave Youfeng Inn, Aunt Guiqin and Aunt Baoping brought her many local specialties. They also saw new guest Bai Manjun doing yoga in the courtyard. Faced with the aunts’ enthusiasm, Xu Hongdou couldn’t refuse and gave her snacks and toys to the children. The kids, in their innocence, asked when she and Xie Zhiyao would get married, leaving Xu Hongdou at a loss for words and overwhelmed with emotion.

After helping villagers push a tractor out of the mud, Xie Zhiyao hurried to the clinic to find Xu Hongdou and then walked with her by the seaside. Knowing she would leave the next day, he mustered the courage to present her with a handmade double-ring necklace. Xu Hongdou gladly accepted and really liked it. Because of this, Xie Zhiyao confessed his feelings to Xu Hongdou.

He had liked her since their first meeting, initially thinking she was a dignified and righteous woman, later realizing she was also a bit unlucky. But over time, he realized she was his type. He looked forward to seeing her every day, even finding the sunshine filled with warmth and happiness. Unfortunately, the timing and place of their acquaintance weren’t ideal. Xie Zhiyao sometimes regretted not entering the hotel in Beijing when he passed by multiple times.

If they had met and developed a relationship in Beijing, the outcome might have been different. Xie Zhiyao understood that love should be mutually fulfilling, not self-sacrificing. He sincerely wished Xu Hongdou happiness and hoped she could pursue the life she longed for. Hearing these words, Xu Hongdou was moved to tears and couldn’t help but hug him.

The next morning, she said goodbye to Lin Na, Huang Xinxin, and Hu Youyu one by one, while Xie Zhiyao personally drove her to the airport. They hugged one last time at the door until he watched her board the plane and fly away. Before returning to Beijing, Xu Hongdou visited Chen Nanxing’s home to see her parents. They got along very well. However, Xie Zhiyao hadn’t sent any messages, which made her feel a bit disappointed.

Meanwhile, Lin Na and Xie Xiaochun missed Xu Hongdou’s presence at the small restaurant. The new staff were clearly not as attentive. Even Xie Zhiyao felt something was missing. Xie Anai brought him fish soup and, seeing Xu Hongdou’s photo on the screen, urged him to keep in touch, telling him she had bravely pursued Grandpa back in the day.

At Youfeng Inn, Hu Youyu and Bai Manjun’s relationship quickly warmed, and they often went to bars together to chat and listen to music. Lin Na frequently sat alone in the kitchen, eating rice noodles and crying, reminiscing about the good times they all shared. Xie Zhiyao and Huang Xinxin returned to the inn and, upon seeing Lin Na crying, quickly joined her for a meal.

Though Youfeng Inn would continue welcoming new guests, to Lin Na, it would never be the same without Dami and Xu Hongdou. In the following days, Xu Hongdou accompanied Chen Nanxing’s parents to the supermarket, cooked for them, and even dyed their hair. Her presence brought rare smiles to their faces. But time flew by, and she would be leaving soon. One day, Chen’s mother sobbed in front of her daughter’s photo, drawing Xu Hongdou’s attention.

That night, Xu Hongdou sat with Chen’s mother on the bed, flipping through Chen Nanxing’s photo album and listening to stories from her childhood. Initially, her parents couldn’t recover from their grief after her death, but with support from friends and Xu Hongdou, they slowly began to heal. Xu Hongdou spoke about life and death, knowing Chen Nanxing wouldn’t want her parents to be so sad. Only by living well could they comfort her spirit in heaven.
