Caught off guard, Pei Youyou was visibly confused and attempted to decline, but Yi Han, aware of her initial purpose for seeking them out, promised to resolve her issue with Ran Zishu's canceled nail salon membership.
Inside the car, Kan Di chastised Yi Han for his impulsive announcement and for hitting a reporter. Yi Han defended his actions, stating the reporter deserved it, and insisted Kan Di shouldn't sacrifice her future for his business. Kan Di, however, was resolute, declaring she didn't want a future if she couldn't protect him. She then firmly stated that Yi Han's casual plan to announce a fake marriage and later a breakup was childish and unacceptable for his career.
She insisted that getting married for real was the only viable option. Yi Han, though annoyed, conceded to Kan Di's professional judgment. Pei Youyou, still in the car, nervously interjected, asking if she was the intended bride. Kan Di quickly reassured her it wouldn't be her, then accused Pei Youyou of having malicious intentions for secretly taking a photo of Yi Han at the hospital, implying it was for blackmail.
Pei Youyou vehemently denied this, swearing on her mother's name that it was taken purely as evidence and offered to delete it immediately. Pei Youyou found the situation absurd, emphasizing they were strangers and he had no right to announce their marriage. Pei Youyou's smile quickly faded when she saw the name "Mr. Yi" on the orders and the balance deficit she was responsible for had been covered, realizing Yi Han had purchased the cards himself rather than directly intervening with Ran Zishu. Overwhelmed, Pei Youyou asked to leave work early for an important matter.
This urgent matter was her ongoing struggle to buy back her childhood home, which she had lived in with her mother before her mother left and her father sold it. Meanwhile, a persistent reporter named Gao Lang, who had been following the story, first confronted Pei Youyou outside the salon, sarcastically addressing her as "Miss Fiancée" and reminding her of her public defense of Yi Han, which Pei Youyou denied. Gao Lang blamed Yi Han for his sister's condition and was determined to expose what he believed was Yi Han's deceit. Gao Lang later followed Pei Youyou into the salon and formally requested an interview, intending to expose her and Yi Han's fabricated lie. As Gao Lang questioned her about her relationship with Yi Han, Pei Youyou fumbled with details like his shoe size, favorite color, and favorite animal, making it clear she knew very little about him.
Gao Lang accused her of being bribed and demanded to know the truth. Pei Youyou, frustrated, pushed past him. Her colleague, Qingqing, watched on with envy and jealousy, clutching her fists, wishing the scene was happening to her instead of the ordinary Pei Youyou. Just then, Yi Han arrived, pulling Pei Youyou away from Gao Lang.
In front of everyone, Yi Han declared, "Starting from today, I wear a size 43 for shoes, my favorite animal is Garfield, my favorite color is red. The woman I like the most. . . is Pei Youyou."
