Sen Yong High School, one of Haiwen's top three key high schools, operates two distinct campuses: the South Campus, which specializes in sports, and the North Campus, which focuses on academic subjects. While both campuses excel in their respective fields, a deep-seated rivalry exists between them. Academic students in the North Campus look down on the "simple-minded" sports students, viewing them as mere "learning machines" or "teachers' puppets."

Conversely, the sports students consider the academic students to be "uncultured" and mock their intelligence. The two sides are constantly at loggerheads, often exchanging insults like "trash" and no morality." One day, Yuan Caixi, the Class 2 Monitor of the North Campus, is tasked with collecting Quality Handbooks from the South Campus.

Her friends warn her to be cautious, especially of Li He, a sports student described as "arrogant and domineering," known for ensuring "those who stood against him never ended well." Yuan Caixi, however, assures them she has successfully collected all twenty-four handbooks, even though she only received twenty, just as she sees one of the problematic sports students outside her window.

Meanwhile, Li He and his friends are trying to persuade a younger boy to help them reach "Diamond level" in a game, but the boy complains they are too "weak." Yun Xiang, one of Li He's friends, rushes over with alarming news: someone from the North Campus is collecting their handbooks, and this "girl" claims to have all twenty-four.

Realizing their handbooks, containing potentially incriminating records, could fall into North Campus hands and be seen by Mr. Bai, they become frantic, knowing it could mean "the end" for them. One of Li He's friends identifies the collector as Yuan Caixi, the Class 2 Monitor, known as an "emotionless studying machine" due to her intense focus on academics. They also note that Li He is the president of the radio club, and thus holds the key to their stash.

Li He and his friends rush to the radio room, one of their usual hiding spots, where they find the handbooks. Yuan Caixi appears, explaining her strategy: knowing only Li He, as the president of the radio club, had the key to the radio room, she spread a rumor about having collected all the handbooks, knowing they would rush to check their stash. As Yuan Caixi attempts to leave with the handbooks, Li He and his friends block her.

During their heated exchange, one of Li He's friends trips Yuan Caixi, activating the school-wide broadcast system. Their entire argument, including Li He calling her the "eternal number two" and Yuan Caixi retaliating by calling him the "world idiot champion" due to his T-shirt slogan, is broadcast throughout the school.

News of the broadcast quickly spreads, and Li He's friends show him the mocking comments on the school forum, particularly the comparison to Ning Zeyu, who is described by Li He's friend as an "academic god" who consistently scores 100 because the test only allows for that maximum score. Angered by the insults and determined to "save face," Li He decides to challenge the academic students.

Later, Ning Zeyu finds Yuan Caixi and confirms that the entire school heard their exchange. Yuan Caixi confides in her friend, who reminds her of Li He calling her the "eternal number two," that she is determined to achieve first place this year to secure a scholarship. During the physical exam that afternoon, Li He requests permission to "help" the academic students with their tests by stretching them before. The teacher, Mr. Bai, agrees.

However, Li He and his friends use this as an opportunity for public revenge for private grievances, deliberately making the academic students struggle, particularly Yuan Caixi during sit-ups, with Li He repeatedly calling her "two" or "not standard" in reference to his earlier "eternal number two" insult, and forcing them to repeat exercises. This quickly escalates into another loud argument, with academic students calling sports students "a bunch of idiots" and sports students retaliating with "weaklings," and other insults exchanged.

To settle the dispute, the two groups agree to a dodgeball match. The game is intense, with Li He and Ning Zeyu emerging as key players, showcasing their respective skills. As the game continues, the academic team's numbers dwindle, leaving only Yuan Caixi and Ning Zeyu. During a crucial moment, an academic student deliberately spills water on the court, causing Jiang Yuan, a sports student, to slip and get hit.

This act of cheating sparks yet another heated confrontation, with sports students accusing academics of being "shameless" and "playing dirty tricks," while academic students retort by calling them "villains." The school's Director, Mr. Ma, arrives with visitors, only to be hit by a stray ball amidst the chaos. Furious, he brings Li He, Yuan Caixi, and Ning Zeyu to his office, summoning their respective head teachers, Mr. Bai and Luo Xiyan.

Mr. Bai offers a rather lenient defense for Li He, stating that "every student can be naughty." However, Luo Xiyan fiercely defends her students, asserting that Yuan Caixi and Ning Zeyu are not "provocative" and implying that if students "make mistakes because they are young and ignorant, then it's the negligence of the teacher if he doesn't teach his students well," directly challenging Mr. Bai. The Director assigns the three students 1,500-word essays as punishment.

When Li He grumbles about having to apologize, Mr. Ma increases the essay length to 2,000 words. After the students leave, Mr. Ma scolds Mr. Bai for nearly revealing a sensitive plan to the students. He then confirms to both head teachers that, despite their reservations about the students' incompatibility, the two campuses "are going to merge into one campus."
