Zhang Sinian lightly patted Yun Shu on the head as he looked at her dazed, love-struck expression. He couldn’t quite understand her. To his surprise, Yun Shu even exaggerated things to the point of writing his name as a signature. With no other choice, Zhang Sinian had to help her redo the profit-sharing agreement. During the time they lived together, Yun Shu was utterly infatuated with Zhang Sinian’s every move, constantly staring at him with a silly smile.
Zhang Sinian, however, remained completely oblivious and kept making her do exercises—more exercises, and then even more. One day, Zhang Sinian suddenly asked Yun Shu to change clothes and follow him to school. It turned out he felt she hadn’t mastered the material and wanted her to audit the class. Yun Shu seemed a bit embarrassed and told Zhang Sinian to go ahead first, saying she’d join later once she knew the classroom number.
When Yun Shu arrived and asked for a seat, a girl deliberately said the spot was taken. Left with no choice, Yun Shu sat in the back. Zhang Sinian saw this happen and, before class began, asked the girl to move her bag and give the seat to Yun Shu. After class, Zhang Sinian reminded Yun Shu not to space out and to focus more during lectures.
At lunchtime, Yun Shu ran to the school cafeteria, but Zhang Sinian called her away and personally ordered food for her—dishes she didn’t like at all. As Zhang Sinian kept insisting she eat, Yun Shu had no choice but to lower her head and force down the food. At one point, a grain of rice stuck to her face.
Zhang Sinian picked it off with his chopsticks, and Yun Shu opened her mouth and ate it right away, leaving Zhang Sinian thoroughly embarrassed. Later, Yun Shu told Gao Zhiyi about going to school to sit in on lectures. Gao Zhiyi teased that she could smell the sourness of love, and Yun Shu admitted she might be falling for Zhang Sinian. Gao Zhiyi advised her to take the initiative and turn their contractual relationship into a real romantic one.
While Zhang Sinian was helping Yun Shu correct her test papers, she kept staring at him blankly. A bit puzzled, Zhang Sinian asked why she had been staring at him like that lately. Yun Shu took out a pair of matching couple’s pajamas and gave them to him. Zhang Sinian reminded her that her financial skills were for managing personal spending and didn’t need to be wasted on him.
In class, students whispered about how handsome and knowledgeable Zhang Sinian was. One student, who loved gaming, scoffed at the value of math, claiming it was useless. Yun Shu overheard and snapped back at him. Later, the gamer openly challenged Zhang Sinian, saying that studying math was pointless and that after graduation he could earn more money joining a gaming team. To his surprise, Zhang Sinian explained complex concepts in a simple and compelling way, leaving the gamer speechless.
The whole class applauded Zhang Sinian’s brilliance, and Yun Shu was deeply drawn to him. Yun Shu started to wonder if she and Zhang Sinian were too different. Gao Zhiyi asked if she had been sending out signals of affection as advised and encouraged her to keep up the momentum. Just then, a basketball hit Gao Zhiyi. She was about to get angry when a handsome man strolled over, calming her down instantly.
She picked up the basketball for him and asked his name. The man, named Gu Xiao, was just handling some affairs at the school. Gao Zhiyi proactively asked for his WeChat. Lin Nuo, watching from the side, looked a bit jealous. Shen Lan’s mother caused a scene at school, declaring that if Shen Lan got divorced, she would sever ties with her. Zhang Sinian overheard and became intrigued by the topic of women remarrying.
He stayed late at school to work on a paper and texted Yun Shu to say she didn’t need to prepare dinner for him. Yun Shu waited for Zhang Sinian on the couch at home, folding clothes again and again. When she got to his underwear, she felt an inexplicable wave of emotion. After placing the folded clothes in Zhang Sinian’s wardrobe, he came home.
Seeing a fairy tale book in his room, Yun Shu curiously asked about it, but Zhang Sinian gave a vague reply and simply told her to focus on her own matters. The next day, he suddenly forbade her from auditing classes anymore, which surprised Yun Shu—she couldn’t understand why. Lu Yu, posing as a flash delivery courier, delivered a package to Yun Lan.
The two jokingly made a pact that in two months, Lu Yu would make his way into Yun Lan’s household. At home, Yun Shu boredly worked on homework when a call came from the bridal shop asking her to pick up some photos. She told Gao Zhiyi about how Zhang Sinian had suddenly grown distant. Gao Zhiyi and Lin Nuo encouraged her to show up in front of him.
While accompanying Gao Zhiyi to class, Yun Shu accidentally got bumped by Zheng Lan, causing her to drop the photo she was holding. Zhang Sinian seemed a little unhappy about it. Yun Shu couldn’t help but feel that he didn’t like her at all. When she realized Zhang Sinian had no romantic thoughts toward her and just saw her as the B-side of a contract, tears began to fall from her eyes.
