Zhang Sinian was giving Yun Shu a ride to work, but they were unexpectedly caught in a traffic jam. Coincidentally, Lawyer Meng came by on his electric scooter and tapped on Zhang Sinian’s car. Wanting to continue giving Yun Shu a ride, Zhang Sinian deliberately caused a rear-end collision and asked Lawyer Meng to handle the accident for him, while he took Yun Shu to work on the scooter.

While at the office, Lu Yu overheard several people gossiping about Yun Lan. He immediately defended Yun Lan, and coincidentally, Yun Lan overheard him. This gave her the courage to admit to herself that she was willing to be Lu Yu’s girlfriend. Lawyer Meng privately investigated Yun Shu’s cousin Huo Qi and asked Yun Shu to accompany him to meet with the investigator that evening. Yun Shu was very grateful for this.

Zhang Sinian waited for Yun Shu in the living room, and Yun Shu had no choice but to tell him about Lawyer Meng helping her look into Huo Qi. Zhang Sinian let it slip that Lawyer Meng was only doing this to get close to Yun Shu. Yun Shu then showed Zhang Sinian the relevant information about Huo Qi. Lu Yu and Yun Lan drank at home together and reminisced about how they met abroad.

Zhang Sinian went to Lawyer Meng’s office to warn him not to cross the line. Lawyer Meng plainly said he would wait until the contract ended to confirm his relationship with Yun Shu. Zhang Sinian went to Lu Yu for help, saying he planned to find Huo Qi himself and persuade him to turn himself in. Lu Yu advised Zhang Sinian not to be so rigid, reminding him that Yun Shu didn’t want her cousin to end up in jail.

Lu Yu also told Zhang Sinian that he was now officially Yun Lan’s boyfriend. At the clinic front desk, Lin Nuo unexpectedly saw Gu Xiao visiting a patient and began to suspect that Gu Xiao might not be as simple as he seemed. Lin Nuo intended to tell Gao Zhiyi what he saw, but Gao Zhiyi already fully trusted Gu Xiao. Unwilling to hurt her, Lin Nuo kept following Gao Zhiyi around.

But by chance, Gao Zhiyi still discovered that Gu Xiao was indeed two-timing. Zhang Sinian messaged Yun Shu to say he’d be home late that night—he truly planned to search for Huo Qi on his own. While in the car, he instructed the cake delivery to arrive at 8 p. m. Meanwhile, Lawyer Meng was busy too, renting out a venue to prepare a very romantic birthday celebration for Yun Shu. Zhang Sinian tailed Huo Qi all the way.

At the same time, Yun Shu messaged Zhang Sinian from the venue arranged by Lawyer Meng, saying she was still busy with work and would be home later. Zhang Sinian followed Huo Qi with the intention of calling the police but ultimately gave up on that thought, considering Yun Shu’s wishes. Lawyer Meng played a romantic piano piece for Yun Shu and presented a cake.

Only then did Yun Shu realize the venue had been specially arranged to celebrate her birthday. Lawyer Meng boldly confessed his feelings to Yun Shu, but Yun Shu told him that she especially liked Teacher Zhang. Lawyer Meng said Yun Shu’s feelings for Zhang Sinian might be gratitude rather than love and urged her to think clearly about what their relationship truly was.

With her mind on Zhang Sinian, Yun Shu directly turned down Lawyer Meng and rushed home in a cab. While waiting at home, Zhang Sinian stared blankly at the birthday cake, adjusting its position over and over again, hoping it would make Yun Shu happy when she saw it. Lawyer Meng arrived at Zhang Sinian’s residential complex to return Yun Shu’s phone but was surprised to see Lawyer Meng holding Yun Shu’s hand.

Misunderstanding their relationship, he retreated to his own room. Yun Shu had been happily looking forward to Zhang Sinian’s birthday wishes, but when she got home, everything was cold and quiet. She almost knocked on Zhang Sinian’s door but held back and returned to her room, feeling extremely emotional—just like Zhang Sinian. The long-anticipated birthday celebration ended in silence, as if nothing had happened at all.
