Perfect and Casual Episode 1 Recap
> Perfect and Casual Recap
Yun Shu, 22 years old, is a laid-back and sunny “Miss Easygoing” majoring in statistics. After dating Zhang Sinian for just one month, she stepped into marriage. Professor Zhang Sinian is a cold, ascetic, perfectionist man with obsessive-compulsive tendencies. The speed of their relationship development would understandably make people suspect it to be a love scam, but the truth behind their story is far more complicated.
At a café, Yun Shu was comforting her senior who had recently suffered a breakup. Just as she reached for her coffee, it slipped from her hand. In her nervous fluster, she accidentally stepped on Zhang Sinian, who was standing in line behind her to buy a latte. It was the first time Yun Shu had ever seen such a perfect man, but she didn’t expect him to be so indifferent.
He wasn’t the least bit polite, which made Yun Shu so angry she wanted to hit him. Holding a sheet with detailed latte-making instructions, Zhang Sinian asked Yun Shu’s senior to help him prepare the drink. Finding the instructions overly meticulous, the senior declined, and Zhang Sinian had to do it himself. After finishing the latte, he claimed the milk wasn’t the type he wanted and decided to remake it.
Yun Shu found him excessively picky and took the discarded latte he made before leaving. Later, Yun Shu discovered during class that the meticulous Zhang Sinian was actually her statistics professor. The students held him in very high regard. Gao Zhiyi texted Yun Shu to ask about the new teacher’s looks. Yun Shu got distracted and started sketching during class, only to be caught by Zhang Sinian. Surprisingly, he wasn’t angry at all—instead, he said her drawing wasn’t accurate enough.
Back at the dorm, Yun Shu complained about Zhang Sinian to Gao Zhiyi and warned her not to get a crush on him because he was completely uninterested in romance. Borrowing two new outfits from Gao Zhiyi, Yun Shu went for a job interview. Faced with questions from the interviewer, she felt utterly unconfident. The interviewer thought she had no chance. Feeling discouraged, Yun Shu muttered to herself in the restroom, where she happened to meet the company director.
When the director accidentally got a stain on her clothes, Yun Shu quickly drew a pattern over the stain to resolve the awkwardness. This quick thinking earned her the job. Yun Shu’s older sister called and asked her to handle a fund issue the next day. While dealing with it, Yun Shu coincidentally ran into Zhang Sinian again. Seeing her confused expression, he analyzed the pros and cons of the fund package and suggested she invest in real estate.
Perhaps moved by his suggestion, Yun Shu consulted her cousin, a real estate advisor, about buying a property. Back at school, Gao Zhiyi shared the good news of winning a first-class scholarship, and Lin Nuo announced he had earned his nursing license. Yun Shu told them she had bought a house, which made Gao Zhiyi exclaim that Yun Shu was the true winner in life.
Zhang Sinian called the hospital to inquire about the latest treatments for lymphoma, but the hospital had no new updates, which left him feeling down. Yun Shu was supposed to attend her thesis defense that day, but her cousin suddenly called and asked her to come quickly to handle some real estate paperwork. She hurried over on her bike and finally arrived at the defense venue. Zhang Sinian canceled her thesis defense for being five minutes and fifty-seven seconds late.
Yun Shu was heartbroken and complained that Zhang Sinian was the most petty teacher in the world. Yun Shu spoke with Gao Zhiyi and Lin Nuo. Gao Zhiyi reminded her that without graduating, she might lose her job. Yun Shu panicked and rushed to the company’s HR department, only to be told there was no room for discussion—she would indeed lose her job due to the lack of a graduation certificate.
Having lost both her job and diploma, Yun Shu was very upset, but remembering that she still had a house, all her negative emotions disappeared. Excitedly, Yun Shu went to see her house. Everything inside made her feel very satisfied. She recorded a video to share the happy news with her sister, saying that the two of them finally had a place of their own.
As she explored and filmed around the house in excitement, she unexpectedly discovered many books inside. Suddenly, Zhang Sinian walked out from the bathroom. The situation left Yun Shu frozen, while Zhang Sinian was also curious about why she was in his house. Zhang Sinian learned that he was in the fourth stage of lymphoma and only had about a year left to live. The news left him devastated. He went to the cinema alone to watch Modern Times.
His strict nature left the ticket seller at a loss. Once seated in the theater, Zhang Sinian quietly wiped away tears. Suddenly, a phone rang—he realized Yun Shu was also in the theater and casually tossed her a shoe he had just picked up.
