> Novoland: The Castle in the Sky 2 Recap
After Xuan Ji's death at her daughter Du Qian Yin's hands, Wei Yuanting appeared with guards, carrying Wei Zhao's jade pendant. He ordered Du Qian Yin to be shot, intending to avenge Wei Zhao, whom he believed she killed. Du Qian Yin keenly noticed that Wei Yuanting’s jade pendant was identical to Yun Muyang’s. However, Su Yu swiftly intervened, taking Du Qian Yin away as Wei Yuanting’s men pursued them.
Meanwhile, Yun Muyang visited the graves of his fallen Silver Wings Cavalry brethren. Feng Ruche found him there and revealed the truth about Lian Yi’s death: it was Xuan Ji who killed her, not Du Qian Yin. She also informed him that Du Qian Yin had risked her own life to save him. Yun Muyang was deeply pained by this revelation.
He acknowledged Du Qian Yin’s love, whether sincere or feigned, but stated that the countless lives of the Silver Wings Cavalry stood between them, making it impossible for them to ever be together again. Their conversation was overheard by Du Qian Yin through Su Yu's heaven's eyes. Su Yu, noticing her distress, mistakenly thought she was upset by his use of his powers.
Du Qian Yin shook her head, lamenting that if she could not see Yun Muyang, her life was meaningless. Knowing that his spiritual power was rapidly fading and his death was imminent, Su Yu expressed his desire to stay by Du Qian Yin's side until her last moment. Du Qian Yin, recognizing him as a fellow pitiable soul, agreed to let him accompany her, and they lived together.
Later, Yun Muyang entered Qi Zhenxian's room where a subordinate was supposedly packing his old belongings. The subordinate, however, was covertly searching for hidden treasures and soon uncovered Qi Zhenxian’s private stash of feather coins and an account book. He suggested they split the illicit gains, but Yun Muyang, realizing the subordinate's true intentions, drew his sword and killed him, ensuring the secret would be kept. Yun Muyang then burned the incriminating account books.
He recalled Du Qian Yin’s previous words about Qi Zhenxian colluding with Xuan Ji to sacrifice his men for money, which led him to agonizingly question his entire understanding of his supposed mentor and brother, feeling like the world's biggest fool for being exploited. Feng Ruche and Xue Jingkong spent time together under the moonlight, sharing moonshine. Feng Ruche playfully recounted a story she called "The Tyrant Fell in Love with Me," to which Xue Jingkong teasingly called her shameless.
She candidly admitted to having secretly read his book, "The Art of Romance." Feng Ruche then voiced her worries about their differing aging processes, fearing that she would grow old and ugly while he remained eternally youthful, making it impossible for them to grow old together. Xue Jingkong lovingly reassured her that he would cherish her regardless of her appearance, whether old or young, pretty or ugly.
Overjoyed, Feng Ruche raised her cup for a toast, but Xue Jingkong stopped her, demanding she never drink moonshine with anyone else, openly admitting his jealousy. Feng Ruche noted that he had changed, becoming more direct and honest, and he attributed this transformation to her. She then promised to marry him after she successfully conquered Nanyu City.
She presented him with a handmade bracelet, asking him to fasten it on her wrist and giving him the only key, warning that if he didn't return for her, she would be bound by it forever. As she rested her head on his shoulder, growing sleepy, she expressed her trust in his eternal protection. Xue Jingkong, with tears in his eyes, vowed to protect her forever.
However, fearing the dangers that lay ahead and the insurmountable barrier of their intertwined spiritual powers that threatened Feng Ruche, Xue Jingkong tearfully used a powerful secret art to erase all of Feng Ruche's memories of him, believing it was the only way to protect her. The next morning, Feng Ruche awoke with a sense of unease, feeling as though something was missing, though she couldn't recall what.
She found herself inexplicably crying and discovered the bracelet on her wrist, unable to remove it. Meanwhile, Xue Jingkong was left weak and sorrowful, his cryo-sickness intensifying. Xing Shangli, who was attending to him, noted that Feng Ruche had previously proposed a solution involving monthly meetings to balance their spiritual powers. However, Xue Jingkong dismissed it, explaining that the rapid growth of spiritual power in his body made her method insufficient to save either of them.
He confessed that he had acted selfishly in wanting her to remember him, but he now accepted the drastic measure of erasing her memories. Realizing he couldn't erase the memories of everyone around her, Xue Jingkong had sought out Yun Muyang, asking him to ensure that no one would mention Xue Jingkong to Feng Ruche. Yun Muyang, understanding the gravity of the situation, agreed to ensure others in the Silver Wings Cavalry would also comply.
Xing Shangli mourned that Xue Jingkong would now bear all her suffering and ultimately die alone. Xue Jingkong acknowledged this fate, finding comfort in the thought that Feng Ruche would be safe and well, reflecting that she had brought color to his otherwise cold world, even if he couldn't remain by her side. He wondered if, upon death, even the memories of love would vanish.
Back in her duties, Feng Ruche felt a vague recollection of another Master who had taught her, but she couldn't recall his face or name. Yun Muyang subtly reinforced her amnesia by telling her that the Master had left after her training was complete, and advised her to focus on matters of the world and forget unimportant people and things. Feng Ruche then convened a meeting with Yun Muyang and Yu Guocong to plan the conquest of Nanyu City.
A secret letter from Kong Sang in Nanyu City informed them that Wei Yuanting, being excessively cautious and still shaken by Xuan Ji’s betrayal, would secretly move Wei Zhao’s memorial tablet to the imperial mausoleum in ten days, a custom-breaking act. Yu Guocong suggested this secret event presented a prime opportunity for an assassination, as it would be the only time to strike at Wei Yuanting, who had otherwise heavily guarded the palace.
However, Feng Ruche expressed reservations about Kong Sang's reliability and the inherent dangers of such a risky move, deciding to take a few more days to deliberate. Meanwhile, Wei Yuanting, anxious about reclaiming his power, was presented with a potent medicine by a subordinate, who claimed it would "revive his glory." Suspicious, Wei Yuanting demanded the subordinate consume some first.
The subordinate hesitated, citing his old age, but Wei Yuanting, growing impatient, threatened to send him to "accompany Xuan Ji" if the medicine proved ineffective. Despite her memory loss, Feng Ruche was inexplicably drawn to the Fallen Leaves Path, a place that held deep significance for her and Xue Jingkong. Holding a pendant she found, she felt a strong sense of familiarity with both it and the path, which triggered a severe headache as fragmented memories struggled to surface.
Overwhelmed, she fainted by the roadside. Xue Jingkong, who had been secretly watching over her, appeared and carried her to a nearby house. He wore a mask, concealing his identity, and tended to her wounds from the citrus leaves that had poisoned her. When Feng Ruche awoke, she questioned his identity. He claimed to be a mountain farmer, but she noted his delicate hands and the numerous books in his house, deducing he must be a Master or teacher.
She pressed him to reveal his face, but he refused, urging her to leave after taking her medicine. As he helped her to her feet, Feng Ruche seized the opportunity and quickly removed his mask.
