Maggie, working in accounts receivable, persisted in her calls to collect overdue payments, even when met with resistance. Her boss, Frank, called her into his office to discuss her performance. He pointed out that she hadn't collected a single payment in her first week. Maggie tried to explain that the accounts she was assigned were all clients intentionally delaying payments, requiring her to address each specific issue.

Frank dismissed her explanations as excuses, questioning her capability and reminding her of the company's strict ten-day trial rule for new employees; if no results were achieved, they would be dismissed. Maggie assured him she had a promising account, Zheng Li Xiang, whose house sale contract was signed, and payment was imminent. She had even verified the contract. Despite her efforts, Frank reiterated the ten-day ultimatum. Under pressure, Maggie called Zheng Li Xiang.

He tearfully claimed to be desperate, with only 30,000 yuan in savings, unable to send his child to school after his wife left. He pleaded for a few more days, stating he wouldn't have much left even after his house sale. He then proposed that if Maggie lent him 65,000 yuan, he could immediately repay 100,000 yuan to the company and then pay back Maggie 70,000 yuan with interest once his house sale was finalized.

Despite Frank's earlier warning that a personal loan wouldn't count towards her company performance, Maggie, touched by his story and feeling the urgency of her ten-day deadline, transferred her entire savings of 65,000 yuan to Zheng Li Xiang. Moments later, he blocked her number and his phone was powered off. Maggie instantly realized she had been conned and frantically called her bank, only to be told the transfer was complete and she would need to report it to the police.

Her colleague, Jenny, later found Maggie and presented Zheng Li Xiang's financial statements. Jenny pointed out that many small businesses transfer assets during bankruptcy, similar to concealing assets before a divorce. Maggie realized that Zheng Li Xiang's divorce a year prior was likely a strategic move to protect his assets. Further investigation revealed that the so-called debt collectors surrounding his company were actually hired by his ex-wife, Lu Xiang Xiang, to create a facade that he wasn't attempting to flee.

Maggie was appalled by Zheng Li Xiang's cunning and deceitful plan to scam people, calling him an "a""hole." Amidst her distress, she received a call from Mr. Wei. At home, Gu Jia proposed divorce to Xu Huanshan. She calmly outlined the terms: she would take custody of Zi Yan and retain ownership of her tea plantation, while he could have the fireworks company. Their apartment would be sold, and the proceeds split.

Xu Huanshan, distraught, begged her to reconsider for their son's sake. Gu Jia retorted by asking why he hadn't considered their son when he cheated. Feeling cornered, Xu Huanshan lashed out, accusing Gu Jia of constantly being overbearing and controlling. He claimed she dictated every decision in his life, from their relationship and marriage to the company's direction and even his daily choices, making him feel like her puppet and less than a man.

Gu Jia listened with a pained expression. She acknowledged that his words revealed a deep, irreconcilable problem between them, and his affair was merely a symptom of a marriage that would have failed regardless of Lin You You. She admitted her fantasy of a perfect marriage was shattered, and concluded that divorce would be a release for both of them. Gu Jia then firmly told him to leave the house and never return.

Xu Huanshan left the house, pulling his luggage. Lin You You was waiting downstairs, and as he approached, she tearfully said she truly loved him. Looking her directly in the eye, Xu Huanshan firmly stated that he would not divorce Gu Jia and would never allow his son to grow up in a single-parent family. He made it clear he would never choose her, before getting into a taxi and driving away, leaving a distraught Lin You You behind.

Meanwhile, Zhong Xiaoqin and Chen Yu took Zi Yan to the aquarium. Chen Yu carried Zi Yan for much of the visit, and Zhong Xiaoqin’s concern for his tiredness brought a smile to his face. Later, as Zhong Xiaoqin patiently and tenderly fed Zi Yan, Chen Yu observed her, then remarked that he now understood how to help her mature quickly: by having a child of their own. Zhong Xiaoqin, taken aback, responded shyly.

After putting the tired Zi Yan to bed, Zhong Xiaoqin told Chen Yu that Gu Jia had called and asked them to continue looking after Zi Yan for a few more days. Zhong Xiaoqin voiced her hope that Gu Jia would divorce Xu Huanshan, but Chen Yu cautioned her against offering too many opinions.

He advised her that her role was simply to support Gu Jia, whatever decision she made, emphasizing that outsiders couldn't truly understand Gu Jia's feelings or judge her life choices. Maggie then met with Mr. Wei, who brought up the fact that she had failed to collect company debts and had lost her personal savings. Maggie, interpreting his words as concern, asked if he cared about her.

Mr. Wei, however, laughed, telling her not to overestimate her importance, explaining that he was merely keeping tabs on what he considered a crucial department. Maggie challenged this, stating that accounts receivable was widely regarded as the lowest position in the company. Mr. Wei countered by revealing that he himself had started in accounts receivable.

He argued that it was a far more challenging and character-building role than sales, exposing one to all kinds of people, both good and evil, and preparing them to handle any workplace situation. He elaborated that the role demanded a comprehensive understanding of the entire sales process, its loopholes, production, inventory, and vendor relationships, thus offering a unique perspective on the company's operations.

Maggie, who had initially believed Mr. Wei was trying to make her give up, realized his true intention. She then solemnly promised him that she would dedicate herself to the job and not disappoint his trust. Back at her apartment, Maggie found renewed resolve, giving herself pep talks in the mirror. The next day, she went to East China Sea Exhibition Company to meet Manager Shen.

The receptionist, anticipating her purpose, claimed Manager Shen was unavailable and suggested she return another day. Maggie, however, refused to leave, calmly taking a seat in the lobby and continuing her calls to other clients, making her presence unavoidable. When a delivery arrived for Manager Shen, Maggie signed for it, prompting Manager Shen to finally appear. Maggie seized the opportunity, introduced herself, and directly inquired about the delayed payment, offering to collaborate on a solution.

Manager Shen initially cited blurry digital receipts as an excuse. Maggie promptly produced the original paper receipt, but he then claimed the stamp was blurry. Maggie firmly countered that a blurry stamp was not a valid reason for delaying payment. When Manager Shen attempted to dismiss her, promising to contact her after tracking the order, Maggie refused to budge.

She offered to personally assist in tracking the order, even volunteering to fly out and send pictures if the products had already shipped. She pressed him on why this particular payment had been stalled for three months, given their company's history of timely payments to other vendors and successful past collaborations. Manager Shen admitted the decision rested with his boss, and Maggie, undeterred, requested his boss's contact information, which he reluctantly provided.

When Gu Jia picked up Zi Yan from preschool, he excitedly told her about a "Big Sister You You" who had visited him, given him two books, and told him stories. Zi Yan innocently expressed his fondness for her before asking Gu Jia what it meant that "Daddy will have his own family."

Furious, Gu Jia immediately confronted Teacher Sammy, explaining that due to a "special situation" in their family, she strictly forbade any stranger other than herself from approaching her son for safety reasons. The teacher explained that "Big Sister You You" had claimed to be a neighbor visiting with her child, but Gu Jia reiterated her firm demand that such contact must not happen again. Gu Jia, with Zi Yan's new books in hand, drove to Lin You You's apartment.

Upon confronting her, Gu Jia stated that while she usually didn't bother with the mistress, choosing instead to handle her unfaithful husband, Lin You You had crossed an unforgivable line by involving Zi Yan. She declared that by messing with her son, Lin You You had touched her "bottom line."

Gu Jia then slapped Lin You You and fiercely warned her not to underestimate what a mother was capable of if anything were to happen to her son's mental health or if he became autistic. Lin You You defiantly retorted that Gu Jia wasn't divorcing because of Zi Yan and asked what if the child wasn't a factor. Gu Jia scoffed, seeing through Lin You You's manipulative tactics.

Gu Jia then threw the apartment's lease termination contract at Lin You You, informing her that the landlord would reclaim the apartment in three days and advised her to pack her belongings and leave the city if she wished to retain any semblance of dignity. Gu Jia called Xu Huanshan, who rushed home, seemingly expecting forgiveness. Gu Jia, however, sternly laid out three conditions. First, she declared that his infidelity was unforgivable, and she would not forgive him.

Second, she insisted that the situation with Lin You You must be resolved immediately. Lin You You might have ruined their marriage, but she would not be allowed to harm their son, especially after having visited Zi Yan at kindergarten and knowing their home address and his school. Gu Jia vowed to make Lin You You leave the city, clarifying that this action was solely for their son's protection, not for Xu Huanshan's benefit.

Third, she stated that once Lin You You was dealt with, they would proceed with their divorce. After Gu Jia took Zi Yan home, Zhong Xiaoqin remarked to Chen Yu how suddenly empty and quiet their apartment felt. Chen Yu, seeing her sentiment, then suggested that they "make one ourselves," before playfully carrying her off to their bedroom.
