Nothing But Thirty Episode 35 Recap
> Nothing But Thirty Recap
Wang Manni arrived back in Shanghai, where Gu Jia was waiting to welcome her. Gu Jia assured Manni she would be her steadfast support. They headed to the apartment Zhong Xiaoqin had previously rented, which was now ready for Manni. Zhong Xiaoqin had already made a set of keys and left a loving note with a hand-drawn map. She had also thoughtfully purchased new towels, a cup, a toothbrush, and toothpaste for Manni.
However, Gu Jia noted that with Xiaoqin's current situation, Manni would likely have the place to herself. Manni found Xiaoqin's map amusing, while Gu Jia admired it. After dropping Manni off, Gu Jia and Xu Huanshan returned to their own apartment. Gu Jia stopped at the front desk to check for packages and was surprised to find Lin You You working there.
Lin You You introduced herself as new staff, asking if Gu Jia lived in apartment 1201, feigning ignorance of their prior connection. Xu Huanshan was visibly shaken, quickly making an excuse to Gu Jia about retrieving his phone from the car. He then confronted Lin You You, questioning why she had found a job at the front desk of his building.
Lin You You declared she wanted to see him every day, expressing her desire not to be alone at home, unaware of his whereabouts. She asserted that he was her only reason for being in Shanghai. Xu Huanshan, realizing the gravity of the situation, sternly told her to quit and find another job. Meanwhile, Wang Manni met with Jiang Chen at his cafe.
He offered her freshly roasted coffee beans, a special blend he called "Ni Ni Beans," made exclusively for her. Manni, however, stated that such exclusive flavors were unnecessary as people change. She admitted to being hypocritical in the past, wanting too much, but returning home had helped her realize she could let go of anything.
She candidly told Jiang Chen that their relationship was over and asked him to stop harboring romantic feelings for her, emphasizing that when something is missed, it's truly missed. Jiang Chen conceded, agreeing that he would stop roasting special coffee for her after this batch. Xu Huanshan drove to Lin You You's apartment, where he had already packed her belongings. He demanded she leave immediately, having bought her a plane ticket back to Beijing.
He reiterated that he was a married man with a wife and child and would not divorce. He advised her to return to Beijing and find a good man. Lin You You pleaded with him not to break up with her. Xu Huanshan insisted that their separation was necessary and permanent, driven by his remorse and uneasiness toward Gu Jia and their son.
During a stop on their RV trip, Chen Yu surprised Zhong Xiaoqin with a romantic setup, complete with candles and wine. He presented her with a necklace she had always wanted but he had previously refused to buy. He then apologized for his past dismissive comments about marriage being just a shelter from the storm, admitting he was angry at the time.
He revealed that he had known she was the one since their very first blind date, recounting how she was the only one on a crowded street looking up at the moon while everyone else was focused on catching a taxi. He told her he had cleared out his "fish room," inviting her to decorate it as she pleased if she decided to return. He acknowledged her lingering concerns but sincerely hoped for another chance.
As he spoke, he noticed Xiaoqin had fallen asleep and gently covered her with a blanket. The following day, Chen Yu confessed that his brother, Chen Xu, had helped him meticulously plan their return route with many surprises, but they had managed to miss all of them due to their navigation mishaps. Deleting the original itinerary, he proposed they simply drive wherever their hearts desired.
Xiaoqin reflected that marriage is like a road trip, where accidents and surprises are inevitable, but the most important thing is the companion. She humorously noted that she finally had the agency to choose her path now that she had her driver's license, and she still chose to drive forward with him. Gu Jia returned to the company and discovered orders for "Blue Ocean" fireworks.
She angrily confronted Xu Huanshan, reminding him that he had promised to destroy all blue fireworks and cease production due to their danger. Xu Huanshan retorted that he was the designer and boss and had the right to decide what to produce. He accused her of constantly discouraging his artistic vision, especially after her tea factory incurred losses.
He passionately defended the blue fireworks as his dream and the best artwork he had ever made for her, but Gu Jia insisted she only wanted his safety and a secure family, not dangerous art. Xu Huanshan declared that the production line could not be stopped as the contracts were signed, and breaching them would incur double compensation, which he couldn't afford. Wang Manni reached out to Mr. Wei, who had given her his business card.
He arranged for his driver to pick her up, but when she arrived at his club, he was in a meeting. After waiting for over two hours, his secretary told her that Mr. Wei was still busy and suggested she reschedule. The next day, Mr. Wei invited Manni to a Japanese restaurant. During their meal, he directly asked if she wanted him or a job. Manni confidently stated her desire to be the deputy store manager at the Mishil store.
Mr. Wei, however, presented her with a challenge: a three-month probationary period for a position he would choose. If she succeeded, she would become a store manager; if not, she would become his personal assistant, at his beck and call, with no right to resign. Manni accepted the challenge, asserting she would stand firm and fulfill her promise if she lost. She then signed the contract. Later, Wang Manni called Gu Jia to meet up.
Meanwhile, Xu Huanshan returned home and found Lin You You still working at the front desk. Enraged, he pulled her into the stairwell and demanded to know why she hadn't left. Lin You You defiantly unbuttoned her shirt, revealing a newly tattooed blue fireworks logo on her chest. She declared that not all fireworks were temporary and the best one would be with her forever, signifying her unwavering admiration for his talent.
