Forced by his family, a reluctant Zheng Chu Yao picks up Lin Xing Chen for school. In the car, she warns him that Yu Yang Yang might not reciprocate his feelings, which he dismisses. At Four Leaf College, they find Yu Yang Yang talking happily with Jiang Nianyu. A jealous Zheng Chu Yao interrupts, pulling Yu Yang Yang away and questioning Jiang Nianyu.
From their tense exchange and Yu Yang Yang's subsequent comment that she is unhappy to see Jiang Nianyu return, Lin Xing Chen deduces a complex history between the two men and suspects a secret relationship between Jiang Nianyu and Yu Yang Yang. To escape the awkwardness, Yu Yang Yang offers to get coffee, then deliberately fakes a sprained ankle, falling into Zheng Chu Yao’s arms.
As he helps her away, a frustrated Lin Xing Chen laments being sidelined in her own story. Just then, Zhou Wei introduces himself as Zheng Chu Yao’s best friend and president of the "Association of Caring for Women." He dubs Lin Xing Chen his "Venus" and gives her a tour, explaining that Four Leaf College students are either wealthy heirs like Zheng Chu Yao or exceptionally talented individuals like Jiang Nianyu.
He reveals Yu Yang Yang is a special case, admitted only because her father, who sells spicy soup, once saved the principal. Lin Xing Chen likens her to the classic character Shan Cai, before expressing interest in the school's swimming pool, which she calls a "sacred place for slash-fic forums." At the pool, Lin Xing Chen is working on her manga when Jiang Nianyu confronts her, mistakenly believing she is taking illicit photos.
During a struggle over her sketchbook, they both fall. She accuses him of being a pervert, referencing when he saved her at the pool before. As the class bell rings, she storms off, leaving her sketchbook behind for Jiang Nianyu to find. In music class, Teacher Cheng enforces a strict rule of punishing students with wall squats for mistakes.
Lin Xing Chen challenges him to a bet: if she can play a piece of his choosing flawlessly, he must abolish the punishment. He selects Liszt's notoriously difficult "Feux follets." After her stunning performance, the teacher claims she made one error. However, Jiang Nianyu enters and clarifies that her deviation was a valid artistic choice, using melodic scales appropriate to Liszt's style. The class erupts in cheers for her victory.
Afterward, Yu Yang Yang’s feigned fragility further turns Zheng Chu Yao against Lin Xing Chen, whom he now openly despises. Pressured by Zhou Wei and Liang Qi Fan, a reluctant Zheng Chu Yao agrees to invite Lin Xing Chen to a candlelight dinner as a form of apology. Meanwhile, the man whose phone was swapped with Lin Xing Chen's realizes the mistake.
Furious that his company's vital data is missing, he orders his subordinate to retrieve the phone at any cost. The subordinate unlocks Lin Xing Chen's phone and, from her photos, identifies her. Determined to win over Zheng Chu Yao, Lin Xing Chen decides to abandon her glamorous look for a simple, "little white flower" style she believes he prefers. She endures a lengthy makeover, skipping meals in her focus to conquer him.
Arriving at the restaurant, Lin Xing Chen finds Yu Yang Yang being bullied by Lei Jia Na, a jewelry heiress, over a supposedly ruined designer bag. Recognizing the bag is a fake, Lin Xing Chen intervenes and exposes Lei Jia Na’s lie. Infuriated at being publicly humiliated, Lei Jia Na viciously insults Lin Xing Chen, attacking her character and declaring that Zheng Chu Yao would never truly love or marry her.
After Lei Jia Na leaves, Yu Yang Yang offers a contrived thank you, but Lin Xing Chen, disgusted by the act, shoves her hand away, causing her to fall. At that exact moment, Zheng Chu Yao arrives. Seeing Yu Yang Yang on the floor, he assumes the worst of Lin Xing Chen, angrily accusing her of being consumed by "princess sickness" before pouring a drink over her head and leaving with a protesting Yu Yang Yang.
Devastated and humiliated, Lin Xing Chen wanders aimlessly in the rain, spraining her ankle and falling. As she sits by the river, feeling utterly alone, the Knight Bear appears. He silently holds an umbrella over her, gently bandages her injured foot, and offers a shoulder to lean on. Lin Xing Chen finds comfort in his quiet presence, gratefully thanking her mysterious savior.
