Following the news of Dolly Group's bankruptcy, Lin Xing Chen stood in the now-empty family home, reminiscing about the past. She lamented that while her father, Lin Yong Hui, had been the pillar of their home, and her mother, Chen Ming Li, had bravely upheld it after his passing, and even Uncle De had contributed immensely, she felt she had done nothing for them.

Uncle De, ever supportive, reassured her, saying that Lin Xing Chen needed to take care of herself, for she was the family's future. His words profoundly impacted her, solidifying her belief that the family's fate now rested on her shoulders. Determined to save Dolly Group, which was still in the auctioning process, she decided she must marry Zheng Chu Yao.

The next morning, Lin Xingchen casually informed Chen Ming Li of her decision to get engaged to Zheng Chu Yao. Her mother, surprised, expressed concern about whether Ru Yao Group would agree to the union. Lin Xing Chen, displaying a newfound confidence, playfully dismissed her mother's worries, reminding her of whose daughter she was. Later, at the school gate, Lin Xing Chen encountered Jiang Nian Yu.

She had planned to make a clean break with him, but his unexpected, gentle kiss shattered her resolve. Despite Zheng Chu Yao's protests and calls from behind them, she climbed onto Jiang Nian Yu's bicycle, leaving with him without a backward glance. As they rode, Lin Xing Chen admitted to herself that she truly liked Jiang Nian Yu, though she felt their chance had passed.

Jiang Nian Yu led Lin Xing Chen to a music room, where he blindfolded her and played the piano. The intimate setting and his tender melody stirred deep emotions within her, bringing back memories of their first meeting and the moments they had grown close. Tears welled up in her eyes, yet she forced herself to push him away. She cruelly told him that her confession the day before had been impulsive and that she did not love him.

She insisted she had to marry Zheng Chu Yao and had never been moved by anything Jiang Nian Yu had done for her. Despite Jiang Nian Yu's disbelief, she maintained her lies before running away in tears. Later, Yu Yang Yang and Lei Jia Na, accompanied by other female students, approached Lin Xing Chen. With a patronizing tone, they offered her bags and a pooled sum of money, claiming it was for her to deal with her current life situation.

Jiang Nian Yu intervened, refusing their "sympathy" and stating that was not what Lin Xing Chen needed. Just then, Zheng Chu Yao arrived, asserting that his fiancée did not require their pity and that Ru Yao Group's value could buy all their families' businesses. He pulled Lin Xing Chen away, explaining he simply disliked their arrogant behavior. Lin Xing Chen then proposed marriage. Zheng Chu Yao was taken aback but confessed his deep love for her.

He spoke of his wish for her happiness and asked if she truly loved him, emphasizing that she didn't have to marry him for money, as he could simply give it to her. Faced with his earnest gaze, Lin Xing Chen broke down. She realized she couldn't lie to him or herself and fled once more. Concerned, Zheng Chu Yao immediately called Jiang Nian Yu to inform him that Lin Xing Chen was missing.

Both men searched for her, with Jiang Nian Yu ultimately finding her. As she confided her feelings of uselessness, Jiang Nian Yu embraced her, promising to always be by her side, wipe away her tears, and even earn money to support her if Dolly Group went bankrupt. He assured her he would always protect her, even if she married someone else. Meanwhile, Ye Kai, the orchestrator of Dolly Group's collapse, finally revealed himself to Chen Ming Li.

He explained that twenty years prior, she had left him to marry Lin Yong Hui, and he had mistakenly believed it was because he was poor. Driven by this misconception, he had relentlessly pursued wealth and systematically undermined Dolly Group, solely to prove his worth and win her back. He presented her with Dolly Group's financial documents, along with old love letters and secret photographs, offering to return the company as a delayed engagement gift if she would marry him.

Chen Ming Li was amused by his twisted proposal. She revealed that she had married Lin Yong Hui not for his money, but out of genuine love—a love so profound that she had cherished his illegitimate daughter, Lin Xing Chen, as her own. She told Ye Kai he could have Dolly Group, but he would never have her. Defeated and enraged, Ye Kai was left with no retort.

After losing Dolly Group, Chen Ming Li and Lin Xing Chen moved in with Zhu Li Ya. Zhu Li Ya, seemingly supportive, constantly highlighted her own sacrifices, such as selling her bags, while subtly hinting at financial expectations. Chen Ming Li, astute to Zhu Li Ya's true, superficial motivations, saw through her ploys.

When Zhu Li Ya boasted about selling all her valuable bags, Chen Ming Li exposed her lie by pointing out a rare designer bag still in her possession. She then playfully implied she might need Zhu Li Ya's savings for a new venture, causing Zhu Li Ya to quickly become submissive. Later, Lin Xing Chen tearfully apologized to Chen Ming Li, expressing deep guilt for her perceived inability to save the family.

This time, Chen Ming Li, unburdened by the weight of the company, shed her hardened exterior and revealed her long-suppressed love for Lin Xing Chen. She told her daughter how proud she was of her and emphasized that the happiness Lin Xing Chen had brought her over the years was immeasurable. Chen Ming Li expressed that her greatest wish was for Lin Xing Chen to be happy and to pursue her own desires. Overwhelmed with emotion, Lin Xing Chen embraced her mother, finally feeling the genuine maternal connection she had longed for.
