After Lin Xingchen publicly confessed that she was not Chen Ming Li’s biological daughter but the child of Madam Zhu Li Ya, Zheng Chu Yao immediately stepped forward. He announced to everyone that regardless of her parentage, Lin Xing Chen remained his fiancée, and he forbade anyone from discussing the matter further. He then ordered his assistant to suppress the news by buying up all printed issues of magazines and deleting related discussions on social media.
Meanwhile, Chen Ming Li confronted Lin Xing Chen, furious about her public admission. For the first time, Lin Xing Chen stood her ground, explaining that someone had already discovered the truth and threatened her, and that denying it would only lead to an endless cycle of lies. She reminded Chen Ming Li of the first English word she learned, "truth," and tearfully asked if she was merely a "scandal" in her eyes.
Seemingly at a loss for words, Chen Ming Li simply stated that the engagement to Zheng Chu Yao must proceed, then dismissed her to deal with the fallout on the company's stocks. At Four Leaf College, posters slandering Lin Xing Chen appeared, and students gossiped, labeling her an "illegitimate child" and a "fake princess." Daniel escalated the situation by publicly branding her a "man-eater" for supposedly pursuing both Zheng Chu Yao and Jiang Nian Yu.
Incensed, Zheng Chu Yao tore down the posters and threatened anyone who dared to speak ill of Lin Xing Chen, declaring that her identity was all that mattered to him. Later, when some students cruelly mocked Lin Xing Chen and knocked her belongings to the floor, Jiang Nian Yu intervened. He chastised them for their hypocrisy and double standards, expressing his shame at their behavior and telling them to reflect on their actions.
During orchestra rehearsal, Yu Yang Yang deliberately asked Lin Xing Chen to help buy coffee for everyone. When Lin Xing Chen refused, other students criticized her. She retorted, questioning if there was a rule that poorer students had to serve the rich and asserting her confidence came from her superior violin skills.
Zheng Chu Yao then arrived with an elaborate afternoon tea spread, announcing it was for his fiancée and warning everyone that disrespecting Lin Xing Chen was the same as disrespecting him. Later, Zhou Wei confronted Lei Jia Na about her continued animosity towards Lin Xing Chen. Lei Jia Na expressed frustration at having competed with an "illegitimate daughter," claiming Lin Xing Chen was no longer on her level.
Zhou Wei accused her of being jealous and upset because she had always lost to Lin Xing Chen. In a fit of anger, Lei Jia Na slapped him and declared she would never speak to him again. Instead of retaliating, Zhou Wei tenderly asked if her hand hurt and confessed his love for her, promising to become a man worthy of her trust. Touched, Lei Jia Na declared her desire to marry him.
Following their reconciliation, Zhou Wei advised her to stop opposing Lin Xing Chen, acknowledging that even someone so proud has a vulnerable side. Overwhelmed, Lin Xing Chen confided in Uncle Meng Xi that she wanted to leave Four Leaf College. He gently advised her that if she could accept her true self, others could not truly harm her.
He reminded her of all she had sacrificed for her two mothers, affirming that she was still Lin Xing Chen and Dolly Group’s princess. Zhu Li Ya, Lin Xing Chen’s biological mother, secretly entered Four Leaf College to see her daughter.
When students recognized her and began gossiping, Lin Xing Chen fiercely defended her, recounting how much Zhu Li Ya had suffered to give her a better life, from raising her alone to working as a servant just to be near her. Zheng Chu Yao then approached, formally introduced himself as Lin Xing Chen's fiancé, and reassured Zhu Li Ya that he would never abandon Lin Xing Chen, promising to treat her as his own mother.
Overjoyed, Zhu Li Ya praised his loyalty. She later told Lin Xing Chen how happy she was to finally be called "Mom" in public after nine years, explaining that true happiness is seeing her daughter happy. She urged Lin Xing Chen to hold onto her happiness with Zheng Chu Yao, but Lin Xing Chen privately questioned this, wondering if her true happiness lay not with him, but with Jiang Nian Yu.
Fearing she was causing trouble, Zhu Li Ya planned to leave quietly but was stopped by Jiang Nian Yu. He challenged her decision, arguing that Lin Xing Chen didn't need material comfort but a real home with a mother who would protect her. Sensing his deep concern for her daughter, Zhu Li Ya asked him to keep his feelings a secret, believing that only Zheng Chu Yao could help Lin Xing Chen and Dolly Group at that moment.
Jiang Nian Yu agreed, revealing that he was planning to study overseas soon and that his recent actions were his final gestures of support. In the orchestra, some members tried to ostracize Lin Xing Chen. However, Zhou Wei and Lei Jia Na defended her, with Lei Jia Na firmly telling the others to stop bothering Lin Xing Chen in her name. Jiang Nian Yu then played a recording of a world-class violin performance, which everyone praised.
He stunned them by revealing the performer was Lin Xing Chen, reminding them that in the world of music, there is no royalty, only talent. Later, Lin Xing Chen thanked him, but when she tried to bring up the manga store, Jiang Nian Yu cut her off, stating there was no need to talk since he was leaving anyway. There, he learned from the butler that she regularly volunteered at a children's hospital. While alone in her room, he discovered her annotated copy of the "Bear Knight" manga and realized that despite her strong exterior, she longed for a protector. He vowed to become her loyal knight. Zheng Chu Yao went to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital to find Lin Xing Chen and was surprised to see her already there, volunteering alongside Jiang Nian Yu and Yu Yang Yang.
To celebrate his first time volunteering, Zheng Chu Yao treated them all to afternoon tea. During their outing, Yu Yang Yang apologized to Lin Xing Chen, admitting she had acted out of jealousy over Jiang Nian Yu. Lin Xing Chen, however, dismissed her apology as meaningless self-consolation. Shortly after, an accident caused all four of them to fall into the water. Upon returning home, Zheng Chu Yao firmly announced to his parents his decision to marry Lin Xing Chen.
His father reacted with fury, but Zheng Chu Yao retorted that they had forced him to like her before, and now that he genuinely did, they were opposing him. Declaring he was not their "doll," he insisted his decision was final. Unable to reach Lin Xing Chen by phone, Zheng Chu Yao went to the manga store, where he found her forgotten phone. Just then, Jiang Nian Yu called it to say goodbye.
Zheng Chu Yao answered, and an intense conversation followed. Jiang Nian Yu explained he had decided to give up on Lin Xing Chen when she brought Zheng Chu Yao to the manga store, believing she had made her choice. After the call, Zheng Chu Yao saw the contact name "Bear Knight" saved for Jiang Nian Yu's number, finally understanding the depth of Lin Xing Chen's feelings for him. He lamented why she would prefer Jiang Nian Yu when he, too, wanted to be her protector.
