My Fated Boy Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Having grown up together in the town of Qiuyin, Lu Zhengan became the person who understood his neighbor Lin Yang best, yet also the most unlikely person for her. A talented musician like the town's famed pianist Xi Song, he fell in love with her from a young age. Upon his return to China, Lu Zhengan was highly sought after by various companies.
He arranged to meet his future boss, Ma Le, the chairman of Yunlang Music, in a remote location to avoid revealing the company's address due to personal matters. Meanwhile, Li Tian, a persistent schoolmate who had bought a seat next to him on the flight and talked for nearly ten hours, continued to pursue him. After telling her not to cross boundaries, Lu Zhengan tried to escape, but Li Tian gave chase, ordering her driver to follow his car.
After Lu Zhengan handed his luggage to Ma Le and his assistant Tao, he drove off. When Li Tian caught up, Ma Le mistook her for a sasaeng fan, leading to a heated argument between them. As he was driven away, Lu Zhengan continually messaged Lin Yang and urged his driver to hurry, worried his "wifey" might be taken by someone else. At that moment, Lin Yang was at a demanding business dinner.
After drinking heavily on behalf of her boss, she was pulled back to entertain another client, Mr. Gu. Later, joined by her colleagues Yao Dan and Cao Ling, Lin Yang voiced her intention to quit by the end of the year. However, Yao Dan reminded her of her financial obligations, including her bank loan, forcing her to abandon the idea. Resolving to endure, Lin Yang reapplied her makeup and returned to the party.
Lu Zhengan went to his cousin Xie Nanke's house, revealing he had returned to the city of Qingning specifically for Lin Yang. He pressed his cousin for her address, and Xie Nanke provided the general location but not the exact unit number. Lu Zhengan immediately left to surprise her. He called her multiple times without an answer, worrying she might be overworking. Meanwhile, a drunk Lin Yang stumbled upon two men who mockingly called her "Madam" and "Aunty."
Offended, she angrily chased them away. Unaware of this, Lu Zhengan assumed she was asleep, sent a goodnight message, and left. Lin Yang eventually made it home and, after a shower, slipped and fell while reaching for a forgotten towel. She was hospitalized with a strained back and a mild concussion. Annoyed by her noisy, elderly roommate, she requested a private room, feeling isolated as her family was away and her friends were busy.
News of Lin Yang's fall spread quickly at her company, with exaggerated rumors claiming she had tumbled down thirty steps and might be paralyzed. Meanwhile, Li Tian, who had secretly returned to China, was coerced by her sister into working at her brother-in-law's company. From her hospital bed, Lin Yang found Lu Zhengan's numerous messages tiresome.
Later, she limped to a nearby restaurant to meet Xie Nanke for lunch, where she heard a new temporary secretary in her early twenties had been hired at her company. Xie Nanke had to leave early for an urgent meeting but told her that Lu Zhengan was back and staying with him, which left Lin Yang visibly disappointed. Shortly after, Li Tian messaged Lu Zhengan, announcing her new position as the chairman's secretary.
Lu Zhengan immediately realized she had replaced Lin Yang at her company. He frantically called Li Tian for details about the hospitalization, but she knew nothing. Overwhelmed with anxiety, Lu Zhengan rushed out, desperately trying to find which hospital she was in and eventually calling Lin Yang's mother. At the same time, Lin Yang was filled with despair, reflecting on how her five years of hard work had been erased in less than a day, leaving her feeling replaceable.
She recalled Yao Dan’s words about having "more possibilities" because she had nothing, but she yearned to know what those possibilities were. Lin Yang then received a call from her mother. Though she tried to offer her usual reassurances, she was on the verge of tears as her mother expressed concern about her living alone and mentioned that Lu Zhengan had called asking for her address.
Deeply emotional after the call, Lin Yang turned to see Lu Zhengan standing behind her, calling out "Wifey." It was their first meeting in four years, and Lin Yang felt utterly embarrassed to be seen in such a vulnerable state by someone she still saw as a "little kid." Despite her discomfort, Lu Zhengan walked over and pulled her into a comforting embrace.
Episode 2 Recap
The profound connection between Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan was forged by their parents, who were close friends and neighbors. During a dinner gathering, Lin Yang's father proposed a pact: if their future children were of the same gender, they would become sworn siblings; if opposite, they would marry. Everyone enthusiastically agreed. Lu Zhengan's father even joked that Lin Yang's parents, who loved daughters, should have one first, while his family would have the son.
Years passed, and Lin Yang was born. Her parents celebrated her birthdays while continually urging their friends, Mr. Lu and Jie, to have their child. Finally, when Lin Yang was seven, Jie became pregnant. Lin Yang was overjoyed, eagerly anticipating a little sister she could teach and dote on. However, when Jie went into early labor, the baby was a boy.
A disappointed Lin Yang refused to even greet Lu Zhengan, her new baby brother, feeling that fate had played a trick on them. Years later, their paths cross again after Lin Yang has an accident. Picking up from their reunion at the hospital, Lu Zhengan holds an injured Lin Yang and calls her "Wifey," apologizing for being late. Lin Yang, whose back is in pain from a fall, pushes him away.
She claims she was crying only because of the pain and the cold hospital room. Lu Zhengan chides her for her clumsiness. Back at her apartment, Lin Yang questions Lu Zhengan’s sudden return from his music studies abroad, calling Qingning a "cultural desert." Suspecting he is in a relationship, she presses him for answers. He states he came back for her, his dream, and to be close to home.
When he stares at her intently, she accuses him of trying to use his "seductive look" to distract her. He then playfully pins her down, teasing that her face looks heavier. Infuriated by his persistent use of "Wifey," she kicks him and demands he stop, worried about how it would sound to others. Lu Zhengan dismisses her concerns, cheekily stating that he, the "tender grass," doesn't mind being eaten by an "old cow."
Later, when Xie Nanke calls, Lu Zhengan answers Lin Yang's phone, telling his cousin he won't be returning home that night. An indignant Lin Yang scolds him for answering her phone, but he uses the moment to lament how she ignores his messages, making him feel like he's talking to himself. She promises to reply in the future. Despite her protests, Lu Zhengan insists on staying to look after her until she recovers, claiming he has already showered.
Lin Yang reluctantly allows him to stay for one night. The next morning, Mr. Hua's sister-in-law, Li Tian, asks her sister about Lin Yang. Believing Lin Yang is having an affair with her husband, the sister reacts coldly. At the Ruiye Advertising Agency, Li Tian investigates Lin Yang’s relationship status. Colleagues gossip about Lin Yang's work ethic and her ambiguous but close relationship with Mr. Hua, who is unusually lenient with her.
While snooping at Lin Yang’s desk, Li Tian discovers a photo of Lin Yang's and Lu Zhengan's families together. Meanwhile, Lin Yang receives a call from Tongxin Hospital, informing her that her test results are ready. During an interview, Lu Zhengan receives a furious call from Lin Yang, who is upset that he has reorganized her messy apartment into a "model home." Though annoyed that she can't find anything, she concedes his cooking is excellent.
Later in the interview, Lu Zhengan explains he returned to Qingning "for someone." He describes this person as a beautiful, kind, and resilient "fighter who won't accept defeat," someone who inspires him and whom he feels compelled to protect. His manager, Ma Le, mistakenly assumes he is talking about his mother. Elsewhere, Li Tian, driving Mr. Hua's car, tells her sister on the phone that she will not let "that old woman Lin Yang" succeed.
At Tongxin Hospital, a doctor delivers Lin Yang's grim diagnosis: chronic gastritis, anemia, scoliosis, early-stage fatty liver disease, and hyperlipidemia. When she casually dismisses it, the doctor sternly rebukes her, revealing that his own daughter, a screenwriter her age, passed away the previous year from neglected health issues. Deeply affected, Lin Yang apologizes and sincerely promises to follow the doctor's orders, acknowledging that health is paramount.
Shortly after, Li Tian confronts Lin Yang, introducing herself as the new assistant to the chairman and Lu Zhengan's girlfriend. However, office gossip has already revealed that Li Tian was actually hired as Lin Yang’s assistant. Li Tian arrogantly warns Lin Yang to stay away from Lu Zhengan, boasting of her superior youth, beauty, and background.
She belittles Lin Yang, calling her an undeserving woman in her thirties with "nothing," while Lu Zhengan is a "shining star" with a brilliant future. Li Tian demands Lin Yang not return to Ruiye, claiming Mr. Hua no longer needs her. Barely controlling her anger, Lin Yang coolly points out that Li Tian is neither Lu Zhengan's girlfriend nor Mr. Hua's spokesperson.
She dismisses the insults, asserting that whether or not she, the "old cow," decides to "rob the cradle," an ill-mannered and brainless person like Li Tian would have "zero chance" with Lu Zhengan.
Episode 3 Recap
Growing up, Lin Yang's and Lu Zhengan's parents were constantly busy earning a living, leaving them rarely at home. Lin Yang often took on the responsibility of caring for a young Lu Zhengan, though he frequently caused her trouble, like tearing up her workbook. Despite this, the mothers would always defend the other's child, with Lin Yang's mother often telling her that Lu Zhengan was too young to understand his actions.
Years later, Lu Zhengan abruptly refused an important dinner arrangement made by Ma Le, citing that he needed to contact someone who had been hospitalized and was uncontactable. He clarified to Ma Le that this person, whom he had mentioned in an earlier interview, was not his mother, but his wife. Meanwhile, Lin Yang, now discharged from the hospital, returned to her home which Lu Zhengan had cleaned and tidied, and dutifully took her medicine.
Her mother called, expressing anger and concern about Lin Yang's hospitalization and threatening to buy a train ticket to visit her immediately. Lin Yang, exhausted, tried to reassure her mother that she was fine, expressing frustration that her mother's worrying only added to her burdens, as she had to manage her mother's emotions while also dealing with her own problems.
A knock at the door revealed Lu Zhengan, who insisted he was there to take care of her until she fully recovered. Lin Yang, however, coldly called Xie Nanke, asking him to come to her house as soon as possible to take "her brother" away. She stated her preference for living alone, finding Lu Zhengan's presence a hassle. She accused him of constantly causing trouble since his return, disrupting her work, her personal life, and even her family.
Lu Zhengan retorted that he wouldn't have bothered her if she hadn't let herself get into such a terrible state. He listed the disarray of her home: a "pigsty" with expired food, mouldy condiments, and unpacked appliances, along with her habits of staying up late and relying on takeout. Lin Yang vehemently defended her lifestyle, stating it was none of his business and that she didn't need his pity.
She declared that she had become accustomed to handling everything herself and was uncomfortable with the sudden influx of concern, concluding that no one could be anyone else's savior. When Xie Nanke arrived, Lu Zhengan observed that Lin Yang, just like in childhood, still became stubbornly loud when feeling guilty. Later, Lu Zhengan asked Xie Nanke to have a drink with him. Xie Nanke remarked on Lin Yang's difficult years living alone, stating that outsiders had no right to judge.
Lu Zhengan acknowledged her struggles, revealing that he specifically returned for her because he knew how she persisted even when heartbroken, pretending everything was fine. He asserted himself as the person who understood Lin Yang best. He recalled how, in the past, Lin Yang would seek him out after breakups, even when he was underage, asking him to drink with her.
As he grew older, he accompanied her more seriously, listening to her heartbroken cries and hearing her warn him not to become a deceitful man. Lu Zhengan recounted how he consistently visited Lin Yang whenever he had time, only to find her going through another breakup. He observed her cycle of getting hurt, healing, and then falling in love again. While glad she never gave up on love, he regretted that he was never the one by her side.
He recalled a painful instance when Lin Yang introduced him to her new boyfriend, and he immediately left, watching from his taxi with tears in his eyes as she chased after him. Upon his return this time, Lu Zhengan sensed that Lin Yang might truly have given up on love, believing she had suffered a profound injury in the past four years.
He subtly probed Xie Nanke, suspecting him to be the source of Lin Yang's deep hurt, noting how Xie Nanke seemed to know her whereabouts without being told. When directly asked if he liked Lin Yang, Xie Nanke admitted to a brotherly affection. Lu Zhengan then unequivocally declared his intention to make it known to everyone that he loved Lin Yang deeply, not as a brother, but as a man loves a woman.
Lin Yang later called her mother, apologizing for her earlier attitude and reassuring her that she was fine and capable of taking care of herself. Meanwhile, Xie Nanke, looking at a photo of himself and Lin Yang, reminisced about the day he was promoted to a law firm partner.
He had shared his dream of enjoying life and finding love, while Lin Yang had expressed a simpler wish: to marry, live a humble life with someone, share rent, meals, and turn boring movies into comedies, desiring simply to have a home. Separately, Li Tian struggled to reach Lu Zhengan by phone. She had always believed Lu Zhengan came to Qingning for her and that his mention of a "wife" was just a cover-up.
She was shocked to discover that Lin Yang, her brother-in-law Mr. Huo's secretary, was indeed Lu Zhengan's "wife." Her sister calmly pointed out that Li Tian was a "latecomer" in both her pursuit of Lu Zhengan and in the company, and thus had no right to make a scene. Li Tian pleaded with her sister to have Lin Yang fired or transferred.
However, her sister countered that if Lu Zhengan had truly been interested in Li Tian, they would have been together already. She praised Lin Yang as a highly capable individual, as evidenced by her five years working for the very discerning Mr. Huo. Li Tian's sister advised her to become Lin Yang's assistant, to learn from her, and to use Lin Yang as a mirror to reflect on her own shortcomings.
Lu Zhengan's father called Xie Nanke, and after berating Lu Zhengan over the phone for his unfilial behavior, Lu Zhengan calmly announced his decision to move out of Xie Nanke's place. He claimed he was "kicked out" and would only return to Lin Yang's if she came begging for him.
Shortly after Lin Yang saw Lu Zhengan's social media post hinting at homelessness, her friends Yao Dan and Cao Ling arrived, immediately noticing her disappointed expression when she realized it wasn't Lu Zhengan at the door. Lu Zhengan, meanwhile, took to sleeping in his company's storage room, claiming it was for creative inspiration and for love. As Yao Dan and Cao Ling gossiped about Lu Zhengan, Lin Yang repeatedly emphasized that he was just her "brother."
Lu Zhengan later revealed his strategy: since Lin Yang insisted on seeing him as a brother, he would play the role of a pitiful, penniless younger brother to the fullest to evoke her sympathy and persuade her to take him in. Despite her friends joking that she and Lu Zhengan should get together, Lin Yang declared that her biggest problem was not Lu Zhengan, but Li Tian.
Episode 4 Recap
Recalling their childhood, Lin Yang prepared milk for a young Lu Zhengan, who stubbornly refused to eat. Frustrated, Lin Yang drank the milk herself, scolding him for his behavior. From that day on, Lu Zhengan ate every meal obediently, later reflecting that he may have been touched by her love.
Now, believing there was still time to pursue his goal, Lu Zhengan planned to get closer to Lin Yang by adopting an identity she was familiar with, aiming to catch her off guard. He approached Ma Le, who was concerned that Lu Zhengan's current predicament could tarnish Yunlang Music's reputation and was reluctant to cooperate with his "sadfishing" strategy.
To convince him, Lu Zhengan proposed signing with Yunlang immediately and releasing a new song at the signing ceremony to generate positive publicity, prompting Ma Le's agreement. Meanwhile, Lin Yang discussed her frustration with Yao Dan and Cao Ling over the prospect of having Li Tian, who saw her as a rival, as her assistant—meaning she would have to train her and then ultimately hand her over to Lu Zhengan.
Having worked diligently for years, Lin Yang declared she wouldn't allow herself to be undermined by an unsigned artist. However, Yao Dan and Cao Ling insisted she had no choice but to endure it, as complaining to their boss, Mr. Hua, without a valid reason would only make her appear petty. Lin Yang confided in her friends, admitting that while she knew Lu Zhengan's assessment of her was right, she was unwilling to acknowledge it.
She confessed to feeling like a "salted fish" and disliked her current life, which was devoid of passion and joy, feeling trapped in a monotonous routine like a robot. After all her experiences, she had lost interest in most things, including shopping. Cao Ling, known as "Director Cao" in college for her stern demeanor, countered that everyone goes through such a phase and likened Lin Yang and Yao Dan to "hollow water spinach"—appearing lush but lacking substance.
Cao Ling bluntly advised Lin Yang to find a boyfriend and Yao Dan to have a child, criticizing them for living their lives backward. Despite her friends questioning her own single, childless status, Cao Ling insisted on taking them out for drinks, claiming that her advice, though not sweet, was nutritious—and for women in their thirties, nutrition is often more important than taste. At the KTV, Yao Dan, fresh from an argument with her husband, sang with excessive enthusiasm.
Lin Yang excused herself and unexpectedly encountered Xie Nanke, who was there with a client. Seeing her attire, he asked if she was at a themed party. Lin Yang inquired about Lu Zhengan, learning he had moved out of Xie Nanke's place. She expressed concern, noting that Lu Zhengan, new to Qingning, had nowhere else to go. After their awkward encounter, Lin Yang saw Lu Zhengan's social media post of him eating instant noodles and couldn't resist calling him.
Lu Zhengan's initial delight at her call turned to anger when he learned she was out drinking while sick. He declared he was "too lazy to mind her business anymore" but implied he was on his way, causing Lin Yang to mutter about the "dumb kid" who dared hang up on her. Returning to the room, Lin Yang found Yao Dan in tears.
Yao Dan revealed her husband no longer wanted to be a DINK and now desired a "fruit of their love," claiming he "loved her too much" after six years of marriage. Pressured by him and his mother, Yao Dan felt trapped, unwilling to have a child at her age but too afraid to divorce. Cao Ling couldn't offer to host her, as her daughter, Tong Tong, had a low-grade fever and was being looked after by her own mother.
Lin Yang reflected on Cao Ling, her gentle and virtuous university classmate. Three years after graduation, Cao Ling fell for Xiao Zhe, a man three years her junior. Despite opposition, they married within a year and conceived Tong Tong. However, the mundane realities of marriage extinguished their passion, and the birth of their daughter exacerbated their issues. Xiao Zhe eventually left, declaring he was unsuited for family life, leaving Cao Ling with the house, car, and their child.
To protect her dignity, Cao Ling became a single mother in secret, telling no one. She struggled alone until she reached a breaking point and tearfully called her mother for help. Seven years after graduation, Lin Yang reconnected with Cao Ling and helped her secure a position at Ruiye, carefully concealing her past so that no one else knew about her ex-husband and daughter.
Later that night, as Lin Yang and Cao Ling supported a heavily inebriated Yao Dan by the roadside, Lu Zhengan appeared. Drunk, Yao Dan fawned over him, mistaking him for a designated driver. Lu Zhengan explained he was living at his company and had learned Lin Yang's location from his cousin, Xie Nanke, adding that he brought his driver's license just in case.
In the car, Yao Dan continued her drunken rambling, asking if he was single and blurting out that his habit of calling Lin Yang "wifey" was one-sided, just as Lin Yang's treatment of him as a younger brother was also unilateral. An embarrassed Lin Yang quickly played a song to change the subject. Upon reaching Lin Yang's building, Lu Zhengan playfully called her "wifey" and then unexpectedly embraced her, saying he needed to "add some oil."
He asked her to say something encouraging, like "You're the best," to "fill up his tank." Lin Yang noted how much taller he'd grown and patted his head, obliging with a mechanical "You're the best. You can do it." Lu Zhengan pressed her to "put some heart into it," prompting a genuine response. Lin Yang thanked him sincerely, acknowledging how difficult it must be for him to worry about her while still finding his own footing in a new city.
She urged him to take care of himself, reassuring him that he was the best and would be the coolest even if he didn't succeed. Lu Zhengan looked down, trying to hide his emotions. Noticing this, Lin Yang asked if he was crying, which he quickly denied. He hugged her again, whispering that his tank was full and he was sharing some "oil" with her, then ran back to his car and drove away without looking back.
The encounter renewed Lin Yang's resolve. She reflected that while life is hard for everyone, she still had the pride of a single career woman. At thirty-one, she could lose, but she would never admit defeat. The next morning, Lin Yang awoke to her motivational alarm, meticulously applied her makeup, and returned to work. Li Tian greeted her with a smile, welcoming her back and expressing hope for their "peaceful coexistence" and "pleasant cooperation." Despite her words, Li Tian secretly observed Lin Yang and was later seen searching online for advice on how to deal with a love rival.
Episode 5 Recap
As a child, Lu Zhengan was often dressed as a girl by Lin Yang, who affectionately called him her sister. He recalled how Lin Yang, despite being a young child herself, was very protective, assuring him, "Don't be afraid, I am here. I will protect you." His mother even noted a period when Lin Yang was particularly fond of him, always wanting to take him out to play, a reason Lu Zhengan himself never understood and Lin Yang never explained.
Upon her return to the office, Lin Yang met with Mr. Hua, who expressed concern for her recovery. Mr. Hua admitted it was his oversight that Li Tian, a new intern and Lin Yang's assistant, was hired without her prior consultation. He praised Li Tian as ambitious and a quick learner, even comparing her to a younger Lin Yang, though Lin Yang playfully interjected that she wasn't old yet.
Mr. Hua expressed his high expectations for Li Tian and his trust in Lin Yang to mentor the new intern. Lin Yang, however, sought clear assurances that as Li Tian's direct supervisor, she would have the final say on the intern's work arrangements and future, including whether she would be kept on after her probation. Mr. Hua affirmed her authority, which Lin Yang accepted with relief, promising to guide Li Tian fairly.
Later, Lin Yang encountered Li Tian preparing coffee for Mr. Hua. Lin Yang quizzed Li Tian on Mr. Hua's specific order – a hot Americano with one and a half spoonfuls of sugar – which Li Tian answered correctly, indicating her diligence. Asserting her authority, Lin Yang canceled the coffee, explaining Mr. Hua had an afternoon meeting elsewhere. She then sternly reminded Li Tian: "You're my assistant, not Mr. Hua's.
Before serving tea and water, you have to understand the relationships here. Do not overstep." She also insisted that Li Tian, being seven years younger, address her as "sister" out of respect and assigned her to email the meeting records by the end of the day. Enraged, Li Tian immediately called her older sister to complain, accusing Lin Yang of becoming arrogant after visiting their brother-in-law's office.
She vented that Lin Yang was "a villain adorning herself with borrowed plumes" and that she refused to be her assistant, believing Lin Yang didn't deserve it. Her sister advised her to control her emotions at work and, crucially, not to reveal her identity. Meanwhile, Ma Le worried about Lu Zhengan, who had been secluded for two days working on his creation without sleep or food.
However, he and a colleague found Lu Zhengan peacefully asleep, marveling at his long eyelashes and handsome features, even remarking he looked like "a beautiful woman." When Lin Yang called, Lu Zhengan immediately feigned a severe illness, claiming to be dizzy, feverish, and weak. Worried, Lin Yang decided to visit him. After hanging up, Lu Zhengan celebrated triumphantly, only to see Ma Le and his colleague, who had witnessed his entire act.
He quickly composed himself, reminding them to maintain his public persona as an "aloof, handsome man." Li Tian had left work early after using a photo of Lin Yang to lure Lu Zhengan into a meeting. She revealed she had become Lin Yang's assistant and had confronted Lin Yang at the hospital, declaring her feelings for Lu Zhengan and telling Lin Yang to stay away.
Li Tian confessed she had expected his "wife" to be a goddess, but was disappointed by Lin Yang, whom she disparaged as "ugly, bad-tempered, and without merit." Angered, Lu Zhengan retorted that he only came because of the photo. He stated unequivocally that Lin Yang was his "bottom line" and that he had rejected Li Tian from the start, warning her to stop wasting her time and bothering Lin Yang.
As he left, a weeping Li Tian threatened to get Lin Yang fired, to which he calmly replied, "I believe you'll try, as long as you can do it." Later, while in a car with Mr. Hua, Lin Yang spotted Li Tian crying on the street after being harshly rejected by Lu Zhengan. Back at home, Lin Yang’s foul mood was evident as she aggressively chopped cucumbers.
She vented to Yao Dan about Li Tian's unprofessionalism and Mr. Hua's favoritism, evidenced by Li Tian knowing his private coffee preferences. Yao Dan, however, suggested Lin Yang's anger was really about Lu Zhengan. She argued that Li Tian's persistent pursuit, combined with their similar ages and the fact that Lu Zhengan ran out to meet her despite having a fever, would likely lead to a relationship.
When Yao Dan suggested he would eventually fall in love, marry, and have children, Lin Yang fiercely declared, "He wouldn't dare! If he does, I'll call his mother immediately, and she'll kill him in a minute." After Yao Dan left, Lu Zhengan called. Lin Yang confronted him about seeing him with Li Tian when he was supposedly bedridden.
He explained he went because he heard Li Tian was her new assistant and feared she would make things difficult for Lin Yang. Misunderstanding, Lin Yang began defending her own actions, assuming he was worried about her upsetting Li Tian. Agitated, Lu Zhengan interrupted, "I don't care about her. I'm afraid you'll be wronged. Do you understand? You're the only one I care about." Stunned by his directness, Lin Yang apologized.
Lu Zhengan, having walked to her apartment building, told her he envied Li Tian's fearlessness and urged Lin Yang to overcome her own fear of losing face, saying, "When we have something we desire, we should go to great lengths to vie for it. Don't be afraid." The next day, Lin Yang brought chicken soup to Yunlang Music to celebrate Lu Zhengan's new song launch and official signing ceremony.
She was told by the front desk that she couldn't see him without an appointment but insisted on waiting, identifying herself as his sister. Inside, Ma Le gave a passionate speech before Lu Zhengan, dressed in a black suit, took the stage at a piano to perform. Watching him, Lin Yang was overcome with emotion, realizing the clingy "little kid" she knew had truly grown up, and perhaps she was the one who hadn't.
She felt an immense sense of pride, thinking, "Lu Zhengan, you are the best, as expected!" After the successful event, Ma Le tried to usher Lu Zhengan to a celebratory dinner, but Lu Zhengan spotted Lin Yang and immediately refused. He rushed to her side and, feigning illness again, took her hand and placed it on his forehead, claiming to feel dizzy and cold before collapsing dramatically into her arms.
Annoyed but forced to support him, Lin Yang urged him to get up, reminding him of his new public status. Ma Le quickly intervened, explaining to the bewildered executives that the woman was his "sister—no, his cousin," who had just returned from abroad and had poor self-care skills, thus requiring frequent family visits.
Episode 6 Recap
Following his successful new song launch, Lin Yang finds Lu Zhengan in a cramped, damp room provided by his company. Her concern turns to anger when his boss, Ma Le, arrives to rush a still-unwell Lu Zhengan to a dinner with a crucial sponsor. Lin Yang confronts Ma Le, lambasting him for the squalid living conditions and for exploiting the young artist she calls his label's "biggest star."
Though Lu Zhengan tries to defend his boss, Lin Yang asserts her authority as his protective older sister and tells him to pack his things. As they leave together, Lu Zhengan secretly reflects that Lin Yang has always been his family. On the walk, Lin Yang expresses her frustration that he signed a major contract without consulting her or his lawyer cousin.
Lu Zhengan explains that no one in his family supported his music, prompting Lin Yang to declare she is now his family in Qingning and will protect him. Arriving at her apartment, she has a brief moment of regret, while he silently muses, "It's easier to invite a demon in than to send him away." The next morning, Lin Yang is startled to find a shirtless Lu Zhengan in her apartment. At that moment, his cousin Xie Nanke calls her.
While she explains that Lu Zhengan is now living with her and that seeing him perform has made her a supporter of his music, Lu Zhengan emerges having used her bath towel, leading to a playful argument that Xie Nanke overhears. Later, Lin Yang notices a scar on Lu Zhengan's back. He reveals he never removed it because it was a memento from her.
When she shows him a scar of her own to compete, he moves closer, causing her heart to race. Flustered by her reaction and realizing that the boy she grew up with is now a handsome man, she retreats to her room. To establish clear boundaries, Lin Yang lays out a set of house rules. She clarifies their arrangement is "shared accommodation," not "cohabitation."
The rules include: keeping his residency a secret, forbidding him from entering her room while allowing her free access to his, requiring him to wear proper attire at all times, prohibiting him from touching her personal belongings, and never mentioning her personal life to her mother or his cousin. Finally, she asserts her unconditional authority.
In response, Lu Zhengan makes one request: that he handles all housework and prepares three meals a day, explaining that as someone "dependent on her," he should contribute. Lin Yang is visibly charmed by his offer, and her resolve softens further the next day when he surprises her with a homemade breakfast. Meanwhile, Li Tian has a tearful argument with her older sister, Li Miaomiao.
Li Tian accuses her sister of being unfeeling, especially for forcing her to work as Lin Yang's assistant. Li Miaomiao criticizes Li Tian for being immature and obsessed with romance. The argument is interrupted by Li Miaomiao's husband, Mr. Hua, who reveals that Lu Zhengan's new music video has gone viral overnight, with brands desperately trying to reach him. Hearing this, Li Tian abandons her plan to run away, suddenly captivated by the news of his success.
As Lu Zhengan's song plays throughout the city, he remains unfazed by his overnight fame. He dismisses the flood of commercial offers presented by a frantic Ma Le, believing brands are only interested in his looks, not his music. Ma Le, suspecting Lin Yang's influence, warns him against pursuing a relationship now that he's a rising star.
Lu Zhengan retorts that his entire reason for returning to Qingning was to pursue a relationship, a fact Ma Le knew before he even signed the contract. Later, while shopping with her friends Yao Dan and Cao Ling, Lin Yang fails to reach Lu Zhengan by phone. Cao Ling warns her that as his closest confidante, she is bound to attract rivals, just as they spot Li Tian. Lin Yang confronts her insubordinate assistant and fires her.
Li Tian defiantly refuses, stating that only Mr. Hua can dismiss her, and threatens to ruin Lu Zhengan's reputation by exposing their living arrangement. Just then, Li Miaomiao arrives. Impressed by Lin Yang's discretion and maturity, she apologizes for her sister's behavior and decides Li Tian is unsuited to be an assistant, arranging for her to be transferred to the business department for proper training.
Episode 7 Recap
Yao Dan, having reconciled with her husband, announced her plans for a romantic candlelit dinner. Meanwhile, Lin Yang and Cao Ling prepared for their own fresh start, opting for facials and gym memberships with the shared goal of becoming slimmer, more beautiful, and youthful. Unsettled by recent events, Xie Nanke found himself too distracted to attend Mr. Ma's lecture and asked Lin Yang to go in his stead.
Later, Lin Yang met with Cao Ling, expressing her frustration and embarrassment upon learning that their company was owned by Li Tian's family, especially after she had threatened to fire her. Lin Yang blamed Lu Zhengan's arrival for the ensuing chaos, but Cao Ling saw it as a positive challenge that would reignite Lin Yang's fighting spirit.
Following Li Miaomiao's advice, Cao Ling suggested Lin Yang feign ignorance about the situation, as their superior, Mr. Hua, seemed unaware of the complex relationships. Cao Ling also disclosed a private conversation she'd had with Lu Zhengan, where he expressed that Lin Yang's fierce independence made her life too hard and that he wished she would allow herself to be vulnerable like a "little girl who never grows up."
Cao Ling speculated that this was why Lin Yang and Xie Nanke, both too independent to rely on each other, never worked out, and she advised Lin Yang that having someone to depend on is a good thing. Later, while Lin Yang was reflecting on Cao Ling's words, Xie Nanke arrived at the bar where she was drinking alone.
He voiced his discomfort with Lu Zhengan residing in her home, but Lin Yang pointed out that she couldn't bring herself to evict him after he had tried so hard to move in. She then confronted Xie Nanke, accusing him of creating misunderstandings with his persistent but undefined "care." She recounted how she had once waited for him to confess his feelings, only to be disappointed. Now thirty-one, Lin Yang declared she no longer had time for ambiguity.
Xie Nanke tried to explain that he had remained silent because he was unsure when he'd return from abroad and didn't want to hold her back. Lin Yang tearfully challenged him, asking if he would have stayed if she had offered to go with him. She then firmly drew a boundary, insisting they revert to being "ordinary friends" and cease contact unless necessary. Xie Nanke accepted her terms. In a flashback, their first meeting is shown.
Xie Nanke, as Lu Zhengan's cousin, delivered a gift to Lin Yang. She invited him to dinner, where he announced his promotion to partner, which required him to go to America for two to six years. He informed her he had already booked his flight, effectively saying goodbye. Though heartbroken, Lin Yang put on a brave face, made an excuse about another engagement, and sent him away.
Snapping out of her painful memories, Lin Yang received a call from Lu Zhengan. He had just finished a new song and wanted her to be the first to hear it. As she listened, Lin Yang was overcome with emotion and began to weep. Sensing her distress, she vulnerably asked him to come pick her up. Lu Zhengan rushed over, arriving breathless and sweaty.
He then carried a drunken Lin Yang home on his back, and she playfully tugged at his hair while asking him to sing the new song again. Back at her place, Lu Zhengan tried to gently lay Lin Yang on her bed, but she clung to him, pleading with him not to leave. Mistaking him for Xie Nanke, she tearfully questioned why he could come and go as he pleased.
She lamented her own foolishness, realizing that true love doesn't wait, before drunkenly proclaiming herself a "warrior." Lu Zhengan acknowledged her strength but pointed out her deepest fear: being alone. He then made a heartfelt promise that from now on, she would have him. He vowed to always be there for her, to share in her joy and sorrow, and to never leave her alone. He affectionately called her "Wifey" and reassured her, "Don't be afraid! I am here."
The next morning, Li Tian reported to the business department and met a diligent colleague, Bai Luo Cheng, introducing herself and mentioning an upcoming project. Elsewhere, Lin Yang woke with a start, unsettled by hazy memories. Finding Lu Zhengan's room empty, she called him. Her fragmented memory only recalled him carrying her to the bedroom. Lu Zhengan confirmed this, joking about how heavy she was and how she fell asleep instantly.
He also playfully threatened to send a video of her drunken state to her mother if she over-drank again. Later, Lu Zhengan was seen at a car dealership purchasing a car, specifically choosing a model for its comfortable and safe backseat, a thoughtful gesture for their future together.
Episode 8 Recap
In a childhood memory, a young Lin Yang and her female classmates frequently brought Lu Zhengan along to steal fruit. When they were discovered, Lin Yang quickly pulled Lu Zhengan away, initiating their first adventure together. Though it ended in failure, they each earned a unique, unforgettable "Order of Merit" that belonged only to them. Years later, Lin Yang is lost in thought at the office, and Yao Dan notices her unusually red ears.
Li Tian then approaches, cheerfully informing Lin Yang that she has sent all meeting records, the previous week's work summary, and the next phase's work plan to her email. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan seeks out Xie Nanke, bluntly telling him to stop pursuing Lin Yang. He demands that Xie Nanke cease offering her secret warmth or using him as a pretense to show kindness.
Lu Zhengan declares that he is back now and, having fallen in love, has become acutely sensitive to any hint related to Lin Yang. Xie Nanke challenges Lu Zhengan's right to make such demands, reminding him of a past promise and arguing that relationships are not as simple as Lu Zhengan perceives.
Lu Zhengan firmly counters that his relationship with Lin Yang is simple and urges Xie Nanke to either pursue her openly and fairly or stay away if he doesn't truly love her. He stresses that he cannot stand anyone using Lin Yang to kill time, especially Xie Nanke. Xie Nanke predicts that Lin Yang will never accept Lu Zhengan and that he will only delay her happiness.
Lu Zhengan defiantly responds that this would be ideal, as it would leave Lin Yang with no other choice but him in the end. Lin Yang spends the day distracted, haunted by the memory of seemingly kissing Lu Zhengan the night before. Her colleagues, Yao Dan and Cao Ling, gossip about Li Tian's sudden politeness towards Lin Yang, concluding she must be "love-struck" over Lu Zhengan.
Their conversation is interrupted when Li Tian calls Bai Luo Cheng away just as they were about to invite him for lunch. Later, in the elevator on her way to a meeting, Lin Yang encounters Bai Luo Cheng and Li Tian, and instinctively ignores a call from Lu Zhengan. During the meeting, Mr. Hua reveals the urgent and tricky task of securing a brand ambassador for Osler's new product.
The target, a singer named Lu Zhengan, is not yet famous but has a notoriously difficult temperament and has already rejected several companies. Li Tian confidently volunteers, stating that she and Lu Zhengan are schoolmates and very close. Lin Yang, however, argues that Lu Zhengan likely has valid reasons for his refusals, probably being busy with his new album. Despite Lin Yang's objections and proposal for alternative artists, Mr. Hua assigns the task to Li Tian.
Following the meeting, Li Tian basks in her colleagues' attention, hinting at a relationship with Lu Zhengan and promising an autograph. In the restroom, Lin Yang confronts her, but Li Tian retorts that Lin Yang is the one mixing personal and professional matters, accusing her of jealousy. Li Tian arranges to meet Lu Zhengan's manager, Ma Le. Believing the meeting was arranged by Lin Yang, Lu Zhengan decides to tag along.
Upon arriving and seeing Li Tian instead, Lu Zhengan's disappointment is palpable. He immediately turns to leave, and though Li Tian chases after him to propose a business partnership, he vehemently states he wants nothing to do with her. That evening, Lin Yang drinks alone while Lu Zhengan waits for her at home, recalling the previous night. A tipsy Lin Yang had caressed his face and, after asking about his lipstick color, boldly kissed him to get the "same color."
Lu Zhengan had been secretly thrilled. Before leaving the bar, Lin Yang clarifies to the proprietress that Lu Zhengan is "not my brother." Seeing the lights on in her apartment, knowing the person everyone wants to see is waiting for her, fills Lin Yang with a satisfying sense of vanity. When she arrives, Lu Zhengan asks why Li Tian showed up at the meeting.
He reveals that Li Tian is not only his old schoolmate but also Mr. Hua's sister-in-law, surprising Lin Yang. He confesses he didn't discuss the collaboration at all because he had expected Lin Yang. This sends Lin Yang into a fantasy: if it had been her, Lu Zhengan might have agreed, and she could have been promoted to project director. However, she worries she wouldn't be able to control herself with him around constantly.
The dispute between Li Tian and Lin Yang becomes a hot topic at the office, with gossipers attributing the conflict to Lin Yang's jealousy. Bai Luo Cheng angrily shuts down the gossip. Later, when Lin Yang asks Li Tian to analyze some documents, Li Tian refuses. Lin Yang pulls her into a meeting room for a private discussion, where Li Tian accuses her of sabotaging the deal with Lu Zhengan and threatens her job.
Lin Yang retorts that Li Tian is childish for not understanding that Lu Zhengan, who comes from a wealthy family like hers, makes decisions based on his mood and values people over business. Just then, Lu Zhengan calls to say he's downstairs to drop off the house keys he forgot. Hearing that they live together, Li Tian explodes with jealousy and throws a stack of files at Lin Yang's back. Moments later, Lu Zhengan enters the company.
The receptionist, recognizing him and assuming he is there for Li Tian, informs him that she is in a fight and directs him to the meeting room. Rushing in, Lu Zhengan finds Lin Yang disheveled while an enraged, red-eyed Li Tian is being restrained by colleagues. He steps into the chaos and dryly remarks, "Are we done here? The hero has arrived to save the damsel in distress."
Episode 9 Recap
A flashback reveals a young Lu Zhengan being scolded by his parents after using his mother's makeup to paint his face like a cat and choosing to wear a skirt instead of jeans. His concerned parents considered taking him to a doctor, only to discover it was Lin Yang who had been dressing him up in "Sailor Moon" style, complete with the "orchid finger" gesture and the catchphrase, "I'm going to destroy you on behalf of the moon."
This led to Lin Yang being chased and disciplined by her own mother. In the present, Lu Zhengan bursts into a meeting room to find Lin Yang disheveled and Li Tian, who had been aggressive, suddenly timid. He glares at Li Tian before gently fixing Lin Yang’s hair and leading her out by the wrist, leaving their colleagues stunned and wondering if he mistook her for Li Tian.
He insists on taking her for a medical check-up, but Lin Yang dismisses it as an overreaction, asking to be left alone and reminding him of their co-rental agreement's discretion clause. Lu Zhengan quietly follows her, recalling a childhood memory where Lin Yang taught him to fight back against bullies, stating that "tolerance means surrender; only resistance can protect yourself." He asks if she fought back, but the adult Lin Yang counters that one must consider the consequences before acting.
Her thoughts are interrupted by a call from Mr. Hua, and she rushes back to the company. At the office, Lin Yang preemptively apologizes to Mr. Hua, tearfully taking responsibility for the conflict with her subordinate and offering to resign. Mr. Hua refuses her resignation and promises to handle the matter fairly, asking Li Tian to stay behind as Lin Yang leaves. Later, a distraught Li Tian cries to her sister, Li Miaomiao, terrified of Lu Zhengan's furious gaze.
Reflecting on Li Tian's history of fleeting crushes, Li Miaomiao realizes her feelings for Lu Zhengan are serious and advises her that love is about mutual attraction, not one-sided dependency, encouraging her to focus on self-improvement. Meanwhile, Yao Dan and Cao Ling encourage Lin Yang to seize the opportunity created by the incident, but Lin Yang is hesitant to appear opportunistic.
After dinner with her friends, Lin Yang finds Lu Zhengan waiting with a new motorcycle he bought specifically to drive her to and from work. She reluctantly accepts the ride. Lu Zhengan then approaches Yao Dan and Cao Ling to discuss his collaboration with Osler. He states he only cares if the project is meaningful to Lin Yang, and if so, he wants her to lead it.
He explains he can't ask her directly due to her strong pride, especially after the incident with Li Tian. He confesses that Lin Yang is not just a sister to him but his "whole world," a "little girl who never grows up" in his heart. Lu Zhengan takes Lin Yang to a lively food stall, where she happily enjoys the casual atmosphere. He reveals he has changed his mind about shunning endorsements because he now has his company to consider.
He says he wants to collaborate with someone "professional, responsible, understanding, and willing to think about him," making it clear he means Lin Yang. Flustered, she declines, but he playfully insists he won't work with anyone else, leaving her to suspect he is flirting. Later, Mr. Hua summons Lin Yang, apologizing for Li Tian's behavior and thanking her for her discretion.
Citing her capabilities and integrity, he offers her full control over the Osler project, with a promotion to project director upon completion. He assures her the decision is based on her talent, not just her connection, and reminds her that networking is a valuable skill. After a moment of consideration, Lin Yang accepts and rushes to Yunlang Music. Anticipating her arrival, Lu Zhengan has kept his manager, Ma Le, in the office.
Lin Yang enters and introduces herself as the lead representative from Ruiye Advertising for the Osler project. Ma Le resists, accusing Lu Zhengan of mixing business with personal romantic pursuits. Lu Zhengan admits it but affirms his commitment to the project. Ma Le reluctantly agrees to her proposed meeting at two o'clock the following day to finalize the contract. As Lin Yang leaves in a taxi, Lu Zhengan follows on his motorcycle.
The taxi driver misinterprets Lin Yang's amused smile as fear, speeding up to evade her "stalker," much to her frustration. Lu Zhengan eventually catches up, and they stop at a supermarket. Lin Yang fills their cart with cute, feminine items, explaining that as a single woman, she can claim they belong to a "cousin" to avoid awkward questions about men's products in her home.
When Lu Zhengan protests that an item is too "girlish," he reminds her of his status as "Party A" (the client). Lin Yang retorts that within their home, she is "always Party A," adding, "the wifey is always right." Lu Zhengan cheerfully concedes.
Episode 10 Recap
A flashback to Lin Yang’s childhood shows her mother severely reprimanding her for forging her father’s signature on a failed composition, an event a young Lu Zhengan witnessed. Years later, observing Li Tian’s prolonged distraction, Li Miaomiao messages Lin Yang to arrange a meeting. At his home, Lu Zhengan, now a skilled cook, prepares dinner for Lin Yang, explaining his culinary abilities were honed while studying abroad.
After secretly switching his major to music, his parents cut off his living expenses, forcing him to rely on odd jobs like piano tutoring, street performances, and gym work to support himself. He reveals that besides being a singer, he also dreams of becoming a fitness coach. He offers to be Lin Yang’s personal trainer, but she declines, explaining that she joined a gym to make new friends and enrich her social life, a decision Lu Zhengan supports.
Meanwhile, Ma Le arrives two hours early for his meeting with Lin Yang, instructing his subordinate to project an air of confidence to compensate for their weak negotiating position. To his chagrin, Lin Yang has another appointment and asks him to wait. Lin Yang meets with Li Miaomiao, who tearfully explains that Li Tian has locked herself in her room, refusing to eat or speak, overwhelmed with guilt but too afraid to apologize.
Li Miaomiao pleads with Lin Yang to give Li Tian another chance, perhaps in a different department, as her future depends on it. She admits Li Tian's judgment was clouded by her extreme obsession with Lu Zhengan. Li Miaomiao also confesses her own past insecurities regarding Lin Yang’s close professional relationship with her husband, Hua Zong, realizing her anxieties stemmed from her own issues, not Lin Yang's fault. Li Tian waits all day for Lu Zhengan outside his music studio.
Annoyed by her presence, he leaves, and she follows his motorcycle in a taxi. Lu Zhengan meets his cousin and lawyer, Xie Nanke, who mentions that Ma Le has invited him to be the legal consultant for the new endorsement deal. Lu Zhengan initially refuses, worried about Xie Nanke interacting with Lin Yang, but relents when Xie Nanke clarifies he would only deal with the company's legal department.
Spotting Li Tian waiting outside the cafe, Lu Zhengan asks for help and escapes through a back exit. Xie Nanke then confronts Li Tian, formally warning her to cease her pursuit or face legal action. A crestfallen Li Tian promises she will no longer bother Lu Zhengan. Still unsettled by Li Miaomiao’s confession, Lin Yang is distracted during her meeting with Ma Le. Ma Le reveals the endorsement product is the "Sweet Series Lipstick."
Surprised, Lin Yang realizes Lu Zhengan is unaware and cautions Ma Le that he might not agree to promote lipstick. Ma Le remains confident, believing Lu Zhengan will consent as long as she is involved. Later, Lin Yang texts Lu Zhengan about the lipstick, but he is in a meeting with Yao Dan, as Cao Ling was too busy to attend.
He presents Yao Dan with a gift of lipstick, revealing he already knows it's the new product and promising her an unlimited supply. Lin Yang worries Lu Zhengan will refuse the deal but knows he wouldn't make things difficult if she asks. In reality, Lu Zhengan had already learned about the lipstick and, as Yao Dan noted, deliberately kept it from Lin Yang to ensure the contract was signed.
Having been advised by Yao Dan that a woman's affection often begins with guilt, Lu Zhengan decides to employ subtle tactics to win her over, tired of hiding his feelings. Lin Yang reflects on her relationship with Lu Zhengan, realizing that while she once saw him as a troublemaker, he has consistently been the one to accommodate and care for her. She concludes that she is the one who causes trouble.
Later, Lu Zhengan waits for Lin Yang at her door. She anxiously explains the lipstick promotion, noting that a public event will require him to apply lipstick on consumers. To her relief, he readily agrees, citing the prohibitive cost of breaching the contract. To familiarize him with the product, Lin Yang takes Lu Zhengan to a cosmetics counter, where a talkative male sales assistant overwhelms him.
Both Lin Yang and Yao Dan find teaching the clueless Lu Zhengan about lipstick shades to be an exasperating process. Later, Lu Zhengan learns from Cao Ling and Yao Dan that Lin Yang is at the "Yijianmei" gym. While Yao Dan supports the match, Cao Ling expresses concern that Lin Yang is "jumping into a fiery pit."
At the gym, just as Lin Yang is about to exchange WeChat information with a coach, Lu Zhengan intervenes, possessively calling her "Wifey" and telling the coach he will train her at home. He then dismisses Lin Yang as a lazy client, leaving her annoyed. Back at home, Lin Yang complains that teaching him has left her with a sore back.
Lu Zhengan offers a massage but then admits his real issue: he can't stand anyone else touching her or having her contact information. Momentarily swayed, Lin Yang quickly redirects his focus to the lesson. She demonstrates how to apply lipstick by holding his face, feeling a flutter of nerves. When it's his turn to practice, Lu Zhengan pulls her close, applies a different shade to her lips, and compliments how well the color suits her, leaving her stunned.
Episode 11 Recap
A flashback reveals that when Lu Zhengan's parents became too busy to care for him, they sent him to his grandmother's house. A lonely Lin Yang went to find him and discovered him being bullied by local children. She fiercely intervened and brought him back home. There, Lin Yang tearfully told his parents that he was being repeatedly tormented, a story Lu Zhengan confirmed. Believing them, his parents allowed him to stay.
It was Lu Zhengan's first lie, and he only understood that by doing so, he could remain by Lin Yang's side. Later, while practicing applying makeup, Lu Zhengan tenderly held Lin Yang's face, telling her that a particular lipstick color suited her. As they leaned closer, he kissed her. Overcome with awkwardness, they both fumbled for clumsy excuses to part ways; Lin Yang claimed she needed the restroom, while Lu Zhengan said he needed fresh air.
Outside, Lu Zhengan celebrated his success with a gleeful laugh. Lin Yang, after letting out a frustrated roar, found herself not angry but surprisingly sweet on the moment. The next day, Ma Le arrived early for the advertisement shoot, intending to pick up Lu Zhengan, only to learn the brand had already sent a car. Fearing their cohabitation would be exposed, Ma Le rushed to the location. That morning, an awkward silence hung between Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan.
Lin Yang established a professional boundary, stating that from now on, he was her client, and they should not communicate directly. Just as she worried about their living situation being discovered, Mr. Zhao from the brand arrived. Lu Zhengan smoothly explained that they were neighbors, which is why they were leaving together. In the car, Mr. Zhao, an old acquaintance of Lin Yang’s boss, expressed a clear interest in her, relaying extensive praise from her boss.
Lu Zhengan, sitting beside them, visibly bristled with jealousy. At the shoot, Lu Zhengan's unprecedented cooperation astonished Ma Le, who mused about the powerful influence of love. In the dressing room, Lin Yang urged Lu Zhengan to be more mature, questioning if he expected her to wait for him to marry her if she didn't find a partner soon.
After the makeup artist awkwardly excused herself, Lin Yang pretended to send a voice message to cover her embarrassment, and Lu Zhengan played along with a smile. Upon exiting, Lin Yang ran into Xie Nanke. Unaware of their true relationship, Ma Le casually told Xie Nanke that Lin Yang was Lu Zhengan's "heart's desire" and could become his future sister-in-law, a remark Xie Nanke disregarded.
While watching Lu Zhengan film, Lin Yang felt his star power was blinding, making her feel self-conscious and inferior—a stark contrast to the pride she had felt before. Overwhelmed, she coughed, drawing the director's ire. As the director scolded her, Lu Zhengan was barely restrained by Ma Le from intervening. Lin Yang stepped out to take a call from Lu Zhengan's mother, who wanted her to convince him to quit music for a stable job.
Lin Yang refused, defending his passion. His mother then asked her to find Lu Zhengan a girlfriend, someone up to three years older who could "manage" him. After the shoot, Ma Le tried to get Lu Zhengan to a dinner with Jia Luxin from Zhongjia Entertainment for a film project, but he only wanted to go home with Lin Yang. When Lin Yang decided to attend as her company's representative, Lu Zhengan reluctantly agreed to go.
Bai Luo Cheng remarked to a colleague that on set, Lu Zhengan’s gaze was either on the camera or on Lin Yang, and his mood soured after she left. At dinner, Lu Zhengan ignored Jia Luxin's attempts at conversation, engrossed in texting Lin Yang, whose contact he had saved as "Dearest Wifey." When Jia Luxin noticed the nickname, Xie Nanke and Ma Le quickly claimed it was a ploy to ward off other admirers.
Lu Zhengan suddenly stood and toasted Lin Yang, thanking her for his success. Later, Lin Yang went to the restroom to compose herself, and Lu Zhengan followed her. She expressed her fear of people discovering he was the "brother" she grew up with, but he retorted that he had never once called her "sister." He hugged her, admitting that while he didn't care if they were seen, he knew she did.
Lin Yang pulled away, insisting work was her only priority. When he tried to answer the question she'd asked in the dressing room, she emotionally interrupted, declaring she had excellent marriage prospects. Just then, Mr. Zhao appeared. Lin Yang instantly shifted her demeanor, returning to the party with him and resuming her professional networking, leaving Lu Zhengan dejected.
Following the dinner, a drunken Mr. Zhao insisted on driving Lin Yang home, but Ma Le pulled him away as Lu Zhengan appeared. Lin Yang said she was returning to the company, and Xie Nanke offered her a ride. As Jia Luxin offered Lu Zhengan a ride, Lin Yang told Xie Nanke that Lu Zhengan's mother had asked her to find him a girlfriend and that she was passing the "difficult task" to him.
Meanwhile, at the office, Yao Dan discovered to her horror that she had accidentally sent a message about Lin Yang's plan to go on blind dates to a group chat that included Lu Zhengan. At that moment, Lu Zhengan, having seen the message on his phone, abruptly refused Jia Luxin's offer and ran off. A few moments later, Xie Nanke received a frantic call from Lu Zhengan, yelling at him to stop the car.
Episode 12 Recap
Frustrated by Lin Yang's rush to go on blind dates, Lu Zhengan confronted her, declaring that he could marry her. He insisted she stop using their age difference as an excuse, arguing that just as his age was unchangeable, so was his desire to be with her. Lin Yang countered that she was past the age of dreaming and would rather stay single than waste time on a fruitless relationship, especially with him.
She stated firmly that she had never seen him as anything more than a younger brother. Crushed, Lu Zhengan stumbled away, asking Xie Nanke to take Lin Yang home. However, seeing Lu Zhengan's drunken state, Lin Yang told Xie Nanke to follow him instead, choosing to walk home alone.
Lin Yang arrived at the company in tears and confided in Cao Ling, admitting she felt miserable and that loving herself seemed impossibly hard, leading her to realize she had likely fallen for Lu Zhengan. Meanwhile, Xie Nanke tried to get a disoriented Lu Zhengan to go home, but he pushed her away, lashing out at "opinionated adults" who feign indifference despite their true feelings. Back at the office, Lin Yang couldn't believe she was crying over love at thirty-one.
Cao Ling suggested it might be a reawakened "girlish heart" or the effects of being single for too long, rather than genuine love. Lin Yang confessed she had long sensed something was amiss, enjoying Lu Zhengan’s affection while hiding behind their "brother-sister" relationship, and now recognized many boundaries had been crossed. Even if his feelings were sincere, Lin Yang felt she couldn't accept him due to realistic problems like their age gap and the likely disapproval of his parents.
After Cao Ling left, both Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan tried to work at the company but were too distracted, leading Lin Yang to wonder if she could be as reckless for love as Li Tian. To keep her mind occupied, Li Tian decided to find a new job. She ran into Xie Nanke, who directed her to the correct building for her interview, and they agreed to have dinner later.
Having stayed at the company all night, Lin Yang received a call from Xie Nanke, who told her to go home and rest, confirming Lu Zhengan wasn't at the apartment. A cleaning lady noticed Lin Yang's overnight stay, advised her against overworking, and offered to set her up on a date, prompting Lin Yang to leave quickly.
Walking through the city, Lin Yang felt torn, questioning if she was afraid of seeing Lu Zhengan again, or perhaps more afraid of never seeing him again. Back at her apartment, she showered and ate, then received a concerned call from Yao Dan, who, feeling responsible, announced she was coming over to mediate after a quick facial. Lin Yang dozed off on the sofa and woke to find Lu Zhengan sitting across from her.
After anxiously checking if she had snored, she feigned indifference as he admitted he had returned not just for his things, but because he was worried about her. She retorted that he should take everything and leave for good, masking her true desire for him to stay. Just then, Yao Dan knocked on the door, and Lu Zhengan quickly covered Lin Yang's mouth to keep her quiet.
Panicked, Lin Yang pushed Lu Zhengan into her bedroom before letting Yao Dan in. She tried to lure Yao Dan back outside, but her strange behavior made Yao Dan suspicious. Lin Yang invented a story about a "female cousin" with large feet staying over, but her lie was exposed when Yao Dan sent Lu Zhengan a text, and his phone began buzzing repeatedly from the bedroom.
Meanwhile, Jia Luxin met with Ma Le, stating that her "woman's sixth sense" told her Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang were more than just colleagues. Citing her numerous businesses in need of brand endorsers, she explained her interest in a deeper collaboration, but expressed concern that Lu Zhengan, marketed as a "boyfriend type," would see his commercial value plummet if he had a girlfriend. She demanded clarity on his relationship status before proceeding.
Later, at a tense dinner, Lin Yang, Lu Zhengan, Yao Dan, and Cao Ling gathered. With Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang clearly at odds, Yao Dan sided with Lu Zhengan, while Cao Ling voiced her disapproval of their age-gap relationship. The confrontation peaked when Lin Yang gave Lu Zhengan a three-day deadline to move out, threatening to abandon their project if he refused.
As Lin Yang left, Cao Ling followed, chiding her for being as childish and stubborn as Lu Zhengan, a trait they shared from growing up together. Back at the table, Yao Dan told a dejected Lu Zhengan that it was obvious Lin Yang didn't actually want him to leave. Lu Zhengan then unburdened himself, recounting his long-held feelings and describing how he had witnessed Lin Yang’s entire youth, from her first celebrity crush to her first period.
He recalled that after his family moved away when he was six, he constantly found excuses to visit her. He misinterpreted her teasing as a sign of affection, which only made him visit more frequently, unaware that she actually found his presence annoying. He explained that she had become an integral part of his life and, having waited over a decade for her, he refused to wait any longer. In response, Yao Dan offered a "mature suggestion": to play hard-to-get.
She advised him to move out immediately, cease all contact, and completely disappear from Lin Yang's life. Yao Dan assured him that if he was truly important to Lin Yang, she would eventually come back to him, as some people only realize what they have after they've lost it.
Episode 13 Recap
Reflecting on his childhood, Lu Zhengan recalled how his first pet, watch, electric car, camera, and even his first lost tooth were all buried under a tree he shared with Lin Yang. He now understood that those "firsts" only took root and blossomed because she was there. On a Wednesday, Cao Ling persuaded a reluctant Lin Yang to attend a social mixer. There, Lin Yang ran into Li Tian and Xie Nanke.
When Xie Nanke invited her to dinner, she declined, citing other plans. Li Tian, noticing the way Xie Nanke looked at Lin Yang, remarked it was the same uncontrolled gaze she had for Lu Zhengan. She encouraged Xie Nanke to pursue Lin Yang, warning that at their age, they couldn't afford to wait for fate, or they might even miss out on a late-life romance. Meanwhile, a Mr. Zhao arranged a dinner date with Lin Yang for the next day.
Lu Zhengan watched from the street as Lin Yang returned home. Back in her apartment, Lin Yang felt as if he had taken nothing, yet had taken everything, realizing she was experiencing heartbreak once more. At work, Mr. Hua noticed Lin Yang's recent timidity and encouraged her. Lin Yang agreed to let Li Tian return to the company, but not as her assistant, feeling she could no longer manage her.
Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan threw himself into work, spending seventeen hours straight in the recording studio. Ma Le, believing a clean break would be better for Lu Zhengan's career, decided to add fuel to the fire and escalate their conflict. Xie Nanke arrived at Ruiye to attend a meeting on Lu Zhengan's behalf. During the meeting, Cao Ling and Yao Dan's differing views on relationships became apparent.
Cao Ling argued that for marriage, compatibility is more important than fleeting feelings, and that love isn't a prerequisite for happiness—a sentiment that shocked Yao Dan. Afterward, Xie Nanke offered to drive Lin Yang to her evening appointment. A message from Li Tian about Xie Nanke and Lin Yang having dinner sent Lu Zhengan into a panic, and he immediately called Lin Yang.
He claimed he couldn't find his keys to pack his things, but she recognized it as a flimsy excuse. Agitated, Lin Yang told him she was on her way to a date and to stop bothering her. After the call, she vented to Xie Nanke about the "clingy child," which prompted Xie Nanke to suddenly stop the car, confess his own long-held feelings, and ask for a chance to take care of her.
Lin Yang gently rejected him, explaining that life doesn't offer many second chances and that the past is in the past. When he asked if her refusal was because of Lu Zhengan, she insisted it was not, but simply that she no longer loved him. He apologized for his past cowardice and gave her a gift before she departed.
Instead of going on her date with Mr. Zhao, Lin Yang took a taxi home, where she found a miserable Lu Zhengan squatting by her door. He hugged her and tearfully retracted his love confession, dismissing it as a childish prank he would never repeat. While calling him childish, Lin Yang gently touched his head but remained firm, stating she had no reason to house him anymore.
Lu Zhengan refused to leave, vowing to move out only when she found a boyfriend, prompting her to retort, "How can I find one if you won't leave?" Lu Zhengan finally packed his belongings and moved out, messaging Lin Yang to dispose of anything left behind. He took his suitcase to the restaurant he and Lin Yang had visited.
When the proprietress mentioned that Lin Yang had told her he wasn't her brother, Lu Zhengan corrected her, asserting, "She's my wife." Li Tian returned to work at Ruiye, now positioned at the front desk, much to the surprise of Yao Dan and Bai Luo Cheng. Lin Yang informed Yao Dan that Lu Zhengan had moved out and warned her to stop interfering, or she would be cut off from Lin Yang's personal life entirely.
Lu Zhengan was found sleeping at the office. Ma Le told him to rest, but Lu Zhengan insisted on going to the promo video review. He brushed past Lin Yang at the entrance with an air of defiance. During the review, the client felt Lu Zhengan's performance lacked a certain "desire." Lin Yang, conversely, found the video "heart-thumping" and full of "impulse" and "desire." The client suggested refinements, including the use of more panoramic shots to enrich the final cut.

The episode opens with a flashback to their childhood. A young Lin Yang instructs a six-year-old Lu Zhengan to deliver a pink, heart-shaped note containing song lyrics to a boy she had a crush on. She described her crush as the one with the best physique, the whitest skin, the most handsome face, and a talent for singing. Lu Zhengan confidently took on the task but botched the delivery.
Despite the mission's failure and the scolding he received, Lu Zhengan learned a crucial piece of information: the qualities Lin Yang admired in a boy. Years later, Lin Yang instructs Bai Luo Cheng to stay at the post-production company to monitor the film editing. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan enters the same elevator as Lin Yang, leading to an awkward silence. Ma Le joins them, asking if their cold war is over and reminding them to act like adults.
Just then, Ms. Jia, a jewelry brand representative, calls, announcing her arrival to meet Lu Zhengan. Despite Ma Le's attempts to deflect, Ms. Jia insists. Soon after, Lin Yang walks through the lobby, and Mr. Zhao approaches her, helping to fix her hair. He offers to buy her coffee, which she politely declines, citing her busy schedule. Lu Zhengan observes their interaction from a distance.
Later, Ms. Jia reveals her jewelry brand is seeking a male ambassador for a campaign launching early next year, timed with Lu Zhengan's second album release. She explains their innovative approach of choosing a male ambassador, noting Lu Zhengan's fresh appeal as a pre-debut artist, his perceived single status, and his alignment with the brand's image. Lu Zhengan, however, questions why he was chosen. Ms. Jia clarifies that she sees his future potential.
Lu Zhengan unequivocally rejects the offer, stating his disinterest in commercial activities and that his passion for music is unrelated to fame. He adds that while he doesn't have a girlfriend, he is devoted to someone he likes and would marry her instantly if she agreed.
After Lu Zhengan leaves, a disappointed Ms. Jia presses Ma Le to be "tough" and "control" Lu Zhengan, emphasizing that he is Yunlang's only chance for a comeback, especially as the company faces financial difficulties. Back at the company, speculation about Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan's relationship circulates. Li Tian defends them, while Cao Ling asks Li Tian why she returned to work as a receptionist after a past incident.
Li Tian boldly declares her philosophy of getting back up where one falls, especially against her "enemies," which impresses Cao Ling. After work, Lin Yang is seen eating a burger on the street. She tries to convince herself that going on a blind date with Cao Ling and having more options might help her stop obsessively thinking about Lu Zhengan. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan appears distraught, not eating or sleeping.
Ma Le, unable to tolerate Lu Zhengan's state any longer, furiously confronts him. He berates Lu Zhengan for sacrificing his health, career, and dreams over a woman, calling him a "coward." Ma Le criticizes Lu Zhengan's rebellious and self-centered attitude, lamenting his lack of positive qualities. He discloses that Lu Zhengan had returned to Qingning and signed with Yunlang solely for Lin Yang.
Ma Le admits he can't force Lin Yang to be with him and demands Lu Zhengan act like an adult and take responsibility for his actions, leaving him deep in thought. The next day, Cao Ling and Lin Yang, dressed elegantly, arrive at the singles' event. Lin Yang meets various men, one of whom is remarkably direct about his personal details and expects a similar introduction from her.
Cao Ling initially has a pleasant conversation, but her date becomes dismissive upon learning she has a four-year-old daughter. The day descends into chaos when Lin Yang gets into a heated argument with another man who makes crude jokes, accusing him of sexual harassment. The confrontation almost becomes physical before others intervene. That evening, Cao Ling and Lin Yang share a meal at a street food stall.
Cao Ling apologizes, acknowledging that Lin Yang's personality isn't suited for blind dates because she subconsciously compares the men to someone she truly cares about. Cao Ling expresses her own sadness, wishing Lin Yang would pursue Lu Zhengan, who is clearly "a good man waiting," unlike herself who feels she has no choice. Lin Yang admits that even hearing Lu Zhengan's name or seeing his social media updates feels like a "stab to the heart."
Cao Ling then reveals a shocking detail: neither she nor Yao Dan can see Lu Zhengan's social media Moments; they are only visible to Lin Yang. Lin Yang immediately checks Lu Zhengan's profile. She scrolls through numerous deeply personal posts intended solely for her: messages like "I miss you so much," hopes for her presence upon his return, observations about the weather, and a new song he wished to sing for her in person.
These posts unequivocally convey his profound affection. Just then, Lu Zhengan receives a call from a drunken Cao Ling, who mistakes him for a designated driver and gives him her location. On the phone, overheard by Lu Zhengan, Cao Ling candidly tells Lin Yang that Lu Zhengan's feelings are "long-planned" and that Lin Yang has "really, really fallen in love with him." Hearing this, Lu Zhengan immediately starts running towards them.
Cao Ling encourages Lin Yang to embrace love regardless of age differences, urging her not to be a "coward." Lin Yang expresses her fear of losing Lu Zhengan, but Cao Ling points out that by not acting, Lin Yang has "already lost him." She implores her to "love boldly" before it's too late. Lin Yang attempts to help a heavily intoxicated Cao Ling into a car.
As she fumbles for her phone to call a real driver, she notices Cao Ling's phone is still connected to the call. At that moment, Lu Zhengan arrives, revealing he heard their entire conversation. He walks directly to Lin Yang and pulls her into a tight embrace. With tears in her eyes, Lin Yang confesses that what Cao Ling had said was "also what I am thinking." Lin Yang then leans in and kisses Lu Zhengan.
Episode 15 Recap
As a child, Lin Yang, feeling unwell, was bothered by a young Lu Zhengan's insistence on playing. Seeing her discomfort, a concerned Lu Zhengan asked his aunt if Lin Yang was dying. Lin Yang's mother explained that she was simply growing up. Later, Lu Zhengan asked his own parents what being an adult meant. His father gave a playful definition involving earning money and dating, while his mother offered a more serious one about responsibility and enduring hardship.
Synthesizing these ideas, Lu Zhengan declared his aspiration to become a responsible adult who could earn money, date, marry, and most importantly, take care of Lin Yang. Lin Yang playfully dismissed him as a little brat. Years later, their relationship newly official, Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan sit in a taxi, hands tightly clasped, with a very drunk Cao Ling slumped beside them. Lu Zhengan’s joy is palpable as he stays affectionately close to Lin Yang.
After dropping Cao Ling home, Lin Yang suggests they wait a few days to tell her about their relationship, given Cao Ling's low mood. Lu Zhengan agrees but then insists on going home with Lin Yang. A flustered Lin Yang explains that despite her feelings, she needs an "adaptation process" to their new dynamic.
Amused, Lu Zhengan clarifies he only wants to stay with her and has no other intentions, admitting he's afraid she might regret their decision and wants to ensure she is the first person he sees in the morning. Back at Lin Yang's home, Lu Zhengan holds her close on the sofa, much to her discomfort. She escapes to the bathroom, calling him clingy and expressing her need for personal space.
Puzzled, Lu Zhengan questions why she dislikes it, having heard that most women enjoy it. Lin Yang reassures him she won't regret their decision and promises she'll be there in the morning, convincing him to let her go. After her shower, they end up falling asleep together on the sofa. Lu Zhengan admits he was afraid she would leave and wanted to be able to feel if she moved.
He ponders when he first fell for her, recalling moments like her fighting for him, hearing their parents discuss a potential child marriage, or the first time he called her "Wifey." Lin Yang apologizes for pushing him away, and he admits he was too hasty. She praises his newfound bravery and pledges to learn from him so they can be together fearlessly.
They then playfully debate a past incident where a drunk Lin Yang had forcefully kissed him, something she thought was a dream. Lu Zhengan expresses his gratitude to her for giving him the chance to become a responsible man who can love and care for her, before affectionately calling her "Wifey." The next morning, Yao Dan questions Cao Ling about her blind date. To Yao Dan's surprise, Cao Ling reveals that it was Lin Yang who "succeeded."
Meanwhile, Lin Yang wakes to find Lu Zhengan asleep on the floor beside the sofa, still holding her hand. They cherish the feeling of seeing each other first thing in the morning. Realizing she is late for work, Lin Yang rushes out, but Lu Zhengan catches up to give her breakfast. She gives him a quick kiss before hopping into a taxi, smiling as she watches his excited expression in the rearview mirror.
At work, Lin Yang receives a bouquet of roses from Lu Zhengan, which is observed with a touch of bitterness by Li Tian. At Lu Zhengan's company, Ma Le berates his team for their lackluster promotion plan for Lu Zhengan's debut album, while Lu Zhengan himself is unusually energetic and offers to help. Throughout the day, Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan exchange sweet messages.
Lin Yang’s radiant smile captivates the office, and she gets lost in a photo Lu Zhengan sends her. Her friends, Yao Dan and Cao Ling, press her for details. Cao Ling reveals she wasn't completely blacked out the previous night and witnessed their affection. Lin Yang, flustered, asks for space and encouragement, stressing that their relationship must remain a secret until after Lu Zhengan's album is released. Lu Zhengan, in an exceptionally good mood, asks Ma Le for relationship advice.
Ma Le shares his "wisdom": with women, one shouldn't use logic but appeal to emotion, advising him to give gifts, offer compliments, and always apologize. As Lin Yang's workday ends, Lu Zhengan prepares to pick her up, but Ma Le reminds him their contract forbids public relationships during the promotion period. The issue resolves itself when Lin Yang calls to say she is having dinner with her friends.
Instead, Lu Zhengan enlists a reluctant Ma Le to help him shop for fitness equipment and kitchen supplies for Lin Yang, insisting her health is his priority. At the same time, Lin Yang is buying various skincare products, reasoning that while she doesn't mind aging, she worries Lu Zhengan might.
While shopping, Ma Le complains to Lu Zhengan that they are in the passionate phase of a relationship and should be doing "crazy" things, not acting like a settled domestic couple. Conversely, Lin Yang confides in her friends her fear that she can no longer match the energy of a passionate romance and worries that Lu Zhengan, at twenty-four, will eventually find her, an "older woman," boring.
Lu Zhengan, however, reflects privately that he has already done enough crazy things for her; now, he prefers a simple, steady life, believing it to be more reliable and lasting. As Lin Yang, Cao Ling, and Yao Dan leave the restaurant, they run into Lu Zhengan and Ma Le. Lu Zhengan's eyes light up at the sight of Lin Yang, while Ma Le stares intently at Cao Ling, much to Yao Dan's knowing dismay. Their meeting is briefly interrupted when a passer-by recognizes Lu Zhengan and asks for an autograph, a small sign of his growing fame.
Episode 16 Recap
As a child, Lin Yang enjoyed watching idol dramas. One day, Lu Zhengan, puzzled by a kissing scene, asked Lin Yang what the characters were doing. She explained they were "making up" and that touching mouths was more effective than saying sorry. Taking her words literally, Lu Zhengan then tried to "make up" with Lin Yang by touching her mouth, which resulted in him getting a beating from her.
Only years later did Lu Zhengan understand that the characters weren't just reconciling; they were in love. In the present, Lin Yang, Cao Ling, and Yao Dan found themselves in an unexpected encounter with Ma Le and Lu Zhengan. Yao Dan playfully pointed out Ma Le's continuous gaze at Cao Ling. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan's own attention was equally fixed on Lin Yang.
Despite his earlier interactions with fans where he posed for photos, Lin Yang still felt a pang of jealousy. Lu Zhengan, noticing this, continued to playfully tease her. When another fan approached for a photo, Lu Zhengan, concerned about Lin Yang's feelings, refused, causing the atmosphere to become awkward once more. Lin Yang questioned his refusal, reminding him that meeting fans was part of his job.
Lu Zhengan then sought reassurance from her, asking if she would trust him not to be upset in such situations in the future. The gathering was interrupted when Lin Yang received a call from a client, Mr. Zhao, asking her to discuss business. She immediately left, prompting Lu Zhengan to follow, offering to escort her. Lu Zhengan expressed his concern, aware of Mr. Zhao's intentions towards Lin Yang, especially since the meeting was scheduled at a nightclub.
Lin Yang, however, calmly explained that their profession often requires them to be on call, available anytime and anywhere, emphasizing that for her, it was purely a work engagement. She hoped he would trust her. After Lin Yang departed, Ma Le, Cao Ling, and Yao Dan agreed to keep Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan's relationship a secret.
Yao Dan initially hesitated, claiming she had a big mouth, but was soon bribed by Ma Le with promises of personal autographs and signed albums from artists at his company, including the piano genius Xi Song. Cao Ling, however, seemed eager to leave, showing no interest in staying to eat or helping the new couple. Ma Le, on the other hand, became increasingly intrigued by Cao Ling, offering to give her a ride home, which she declined.
Lin Yang returned home earlier than expected, which displeased Mr. Zhao. When he called her, clearly upset about her early departure and his drunken state, Lin Yang calmly explained that she couldn't discuss business given his condition and would need to reschedule. Frustrated, Mr. Zhao pressed her, reminding her she was single and alone. Lin Yang firmly responded that she was no longer single and now had a boyfriend.
Lu Zhengan was late returning home, leaving Lin Yang to fret over whether to call him and battling her own thoughts about becoming clingy. Just as she was deliberating, she heard the door open and quickly feigned sleep. Lu Zhengan quietly entered and, without her immediate knowledge, carefully slipped a ring onto her finger.
He revealed he also had a ring, though not an identical one, explaining that this way their status wouldn't be exposed, nor would others assume Lin Yang was available. Lin Yang was touched, believing his actions were solely for her, especially given his popularity with young and beautiful girls. Lu Zhengan assured her that, in his eyes, she was "the best, always." Overwhelmed with emotion, Lin Yang embraced him.
Lu Zhengan posted a photo of the rings on his social media, filling Lin Yang with joy. This post, however, elicited varied reactions from Ma Le, Yao Dan, Cao Ling, and Xie Nanke. Late that night, Li Tian sat on the sofa, heartbroken after learning that Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang were together. She told her sister, Li Miaomiao, that losing to Lin Yang, his childhood sweetheart, wasn't shameful.
Li Miaomiao comforted her, asserting that she hadn't truly lost, but Lin Yang was simply luckier in terms of love. Despite understanding this, Li Tian couldn't hold back her tears, expressing how deeply saddened she was. Li Miaomiao assured her that she would always be there to support her.
The next morning, Lin Yang was shocked to discover that Cao Ling, Yao Dan, and even Lu Zhengan's mother had liked his social media post, realizing it wasn't private as she had initially thought. Worried, Lu Zhengan's mother immediately called Xie Nanke, expressing her fear that Lu Zhengan might have found a "questionable" girlfriend and urging Xie Nanke to keep a close eye on him.
Because Lin Yang's public reply to his post was so telling, Lu Zhengan reluctantly deleted it at her insistence. Moments later, Ma Le called Lu Zhengan in a frenzy, scolding him for his social media activity and demanding he report to the company immediately. Before heading to work, Lu Zhengan dropped Lin Yang off at her office, where they made plans to meet after work. Li Tian, observing their tender farewell, felt a renewed pang of sadness.
At the office, Yao Dan and Cao Ling marveled at how love could make people crazy, noting the irony of being told to keep a secret while their friends publicly displayed affection. Bai Luo Cheng noticed Lin Yang's recent "gentle as water" transformation and was gossiping about it with the others when Lin Yang herself walked in. Caught off guard, Bai Luo Cheng quickly made an exit.
Yao Dan and Cao Ling's eyes were drawn to the ring now adorning Lin Yang's right ring finger, confirming their suspicions about her new relationship. Lin Yang playfully chided them for gossiping in the pantry. Still feeling sad upon seeing Lin Yang, Li Tian struggled with a broken printer. When Lin Yang offered to help, Li Tian stubbornly refused, warning her not to touch it. Eventually, Li Tian, unable to contain her emotions, retreated to cry in private.
At his company, Lu Zhengan declared his intention to give Lin Yang a sense of security. Ma Le, however, as his boss, was far from pleased, feeling that his financial prospects were diminishing with Lu Zhengan's newfound happiness. Ma Le commented that those who show off their love "die quickly" and expressed his concern about Lu Zhengan's happiness impacting his earnings.
Lu Zhengan countered, reminding Ma Le that he was signed for his talent, not his looks, and reiterated his commitment to his musical dreams. He stated that even without Lin Yang, he wouldn't deviate from his path, as dreams are meant to fulfill oneself, not to be held hostage. Xie Nanke, arriving at the office, confronted Lu Zhengan about his relationship with Lin Yang.
As both Lu Zhengan's brother and Lin Yang's friend, Xie Nanke questioned what Lu Zhengan could truly offer her. He suggested that Lu Zhengan's persistent feelings were not love but rather a desire to win, stemming from Lin Yang being the first person he liked but couldn't have in his childhood, implying his affections were merely about fulfilling a childhood fantasy.
Lu Zhengan grew impatient, asserting that his ability to make Lin Yang happy was solely his concern and hers, not for outsiders to meddle with. Xie Nanke then raised the issue of their parents, revealing that on the day of the commercial shoot, Lu Zhengan's mother had called Lin Yang to ask her to introduce a girlfriend to Lu Zhengan, which directly led to Lin Yang's initial rejection of him.
Xie Nanke emphasized that while Lu Zhengan might be indifferent to parental expectations, Lin Yang could not afford to be. Later, Lin Yang received another call from Lu Zhengan's mother, who inquired about his social media post and Lin Yang's comment on it. Lin Yang, flustered, tried to explain it away as a game punishment, where the loser had to post specific content for twelve hours. Lu Zhengan's mother expressed disappointment, feeling she had been happy for nothing.
Lin Yang then cautiously probed Lu Zhengan's mother's attitude towards their potential relationship. It became immediately clear that if they were to get together, Lu Zhengan's mother would "have a heart attack and die right then and there," leading Lin Yang to quickly dismiss the idea. Lu Zhengan's mother, still hoping for a suitable match for her son, reminded Lin Yang to keep an eye out for potential girlfriends for him.
Episode 17 Recap
The episode opens with a childhood memory where a young Lu Zhengan presents Lin Yang with a ring he fashioned. When it gets stuck on her finger, he draws a larger, more elaborate one on her hand, complete with stars and lacework, which she comes to adore despite her initial complaints. In the present, Lin Yang and Bai Luo Cheng arrive for a video shoot. They run into Xie Nanke, who congratulates Lin Yang on her relationship with Lu Zhengan.
Lin Yang thanks him but asks him to keep it a secret, especially from her aunts. Xie Nanke agrees but warns her that the future may be difficult, to which Lin Yang confidently replies she is prepared and tells him to give up any hope of having a chance with her. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan discusses his relationship with his brother, who worries that Lu Zhengan's carefree attitude might be taxing for Lin Yang.
Lu Zhengan argues that indecisiveness is what's truly exhausting, not being carefree. He firmly states that since he dared to be with Lin Yang, he is prepared to take full responsibility. He vows to face all problems with her, handle any disapproval from his family just as he did with his music career, and treasure her, giving his brother no opportunity to interfere.
At the shoot, the client makes a last-minute request for Lu Zhengan to wear a specific red suit for an added interview, but the suit has not arrived. Lin Yang quickly forms a plan, sending Bai Luo Cheng to a nearby mall to gather all available red suits while she stalls the production. She instructs him to tell the client the suit is custom-made to explain any potential fit issues.
During filming, Lin Yang employs various delay tactics, insisting on multiple takes from every conceivable angle and making small adjustments, claiming the "perfect" rehearsal shots need flaws to appear more realistic. Lu Zhengan, amused, plays along. Their flirting becomes so obvious that the director, Ma Le, steps in, declaring he's tired of their "lovey-dovey looks" and calls for a twenty-minute break.
During the break, Lin Yang makes an urgent call to a contact, Sister Nan, to find a fashionable red suit. Li Miaomiao unexpectedly arrives with the perfect red suit. She reveals that Li Tian, knowing Li Miaomiao had studied fashion design, was the one who contacted her with the size and location.
As Lin Yang heads upstairs with the suit, Ma Le pulls her aside, pleading with her to be more discreet and to minimize working with Lu Zhengan in the future, citing his own exhaustion from their palpable chemistry. Just as she agrees, Lu Zhengan pulls her into the changing room. A flustered Ma Le is left to stand guard outside, telling others that Lu Zhengan is changing. Inside, Lu Zhengan confronts Lin Yang about deliberately stalling the shoot.
She jokingly claims she was "striving for perfection," but he sees through it, asking if she just wanted to spend more time with him. He then grows serious, asking if she has encountered any problems, specifically with his mother. He reminds her that she is no longer alone and implores her to let him be a responsible boyfriend by sharing her burdens.
Lin Yang admits his mother called about their social media post, which she dismissed as a dare from a game. In response, Lu Zhengan kisses her, making her promise that no matter what anyone says, she will only trust and look to him. Rushed by Ma Le, Lu Zhengan tells Lin Yang he has a late meeting but will see her at home, stealing another kiss before leaving. Later, Lin Yang and Li Miaomiao talk.
Li Miaomiao mentions seeing Li Tian, who was visibly upset, and Lin Yang acknowledges that Li Tian needs to process things on her own. Li Miaomiao then voices her concern that if Lin Yang marries the increasingly famous Lu Zhengan, she might leave her career at Ruiye. Lin Yang firmly dismisses this, asserting that she will always continue to work, as she believes it's vital for a woman to have her own career and social life to avoid becoming dependent.
Li Miaomiao then takes Lin Yang to see Li Tian. Lin Yang thanks Li Tian for her help with the suit, though Li Tian retorts she only did it to help Bai Luo Cheng. Lin Yang then retracts her earlier apology, stating she has done nothing wrong. She tells Li Tian directly that from the very beginning, Lu Zhengan's heart has belonged only to her.
Lin Yang explains that her initial distance was due to her own doubts about their age gap and his career, not an attempt to deceive Li Tian. Now, however, she is in love and fully committed, and she will hold onto Lu Zhengan tightly, leaving Li Tian no room for false hope.
Heartbroken, Li Tian breaks down, claiming she is happy to be "free" and that she is the one "giving up" on Lu Zhengan, whom she spitefully calls a "heartless, blind jerk." That night, Lin Yang finds her apartment dark and her phone dead. On an impulse, she takes a taxi to Lu Zhengan's company but arrives with no cash to pay the fare. The driver holds her in the car until she can pay.
Just then, she spots Lu Zhengan, Ma Le, and another woman, Ms. Jia, leaving the building, discussing where to eat. Lin Yang calls out to Lu Zhengan, her tone dripping with jealousy as she asks where they are going. Ma Le immediately tells Ms. Jia their dinner plans are off. Lu Zhengan, who had started to walk away, turns back, amused by her jealousy.
He teases her, saying her "hey" was "so sour it could choke someone," before embracing her tightly, vowing not to let go until her phone, which she came to charge, reaches 100%. At a restaurant, Ms. Jia questions Ma Le's leniency with Lu Zhengan's relationship, reminding him of Lu Zhengan's immense commercial value for their company, Yunlang. She argues that as his boss, Ma Le should force him to prioritize business over his personal life.
Ms. Jia then proposes investing in Yunlang or establishing a personal studio for Lu Zhengan, confident she can mold him to maximize his potential. Ma Le listens and then pointedly asks if her interest in Lu Zhengan is professional or personal.
Episode 18 Recap
In a flashback to their childhood, Lu Zhengan's parents left for a restock trip, leaving fifty yuan for Lin Yang to buy a good meal for her brother. Lin Yang, however, pocketed the money, lying that it was for her school uniform, and attempted to cook herself. She created an array of bizarre dishes, including stir-fried tomato and scrambled eggs, shredded potatoes with vinegar, and braised ribs, which young Lu Zhengan found unappetizing.
Her efforts culminated in a kitchen filled with the smell of gas, nearly setting the house on fire. When their parents returned to the chaos, Lin Yang, desperate to avoid punishment, pushed young Lu Zhengan forward to take the blame. However, her earlier lie about the money was also exposed, leading to both of them receiving a stern scolding and a beating. In the present, Jia Luyuan expresses confidence in her ability to transform Lu Zhengan and maximize his potential.
Ma Le, however, accuses her of being romantically interested in him, questioning why she is so focused on Lu Zhengan when there are many other talented prospects. Ma Le asserts that Lu Zhengan is fine as he is and that he, unlike Jia Luyuan, understands his true value. He emphasizes that their relationship is a partnership built on trust, not a mere business transaction, and he refuses to "sell" Lu Zhengan to someone who doesn't appreciate him.
Feigning drunkenness, Ma Le advises Jia Luyuan to focus on business, stating that money can always be earned, but love is not so easily found. He warns her not to overstep with Lu Zhengan before leaving her with the bill. Later, Ma Le spots Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang in the music room but decides not to disturb their private moment.
Inside, Lin Yang learns that Lu Zhengan will be free the next day and excitedly proposes a date, which he happily accepts. As she later falls asleep on the sofa, Lu Zhengan gently covers her with a jacket before returning to his music composition. Their relationship continues to blossom. They spend time at home, mimicking scenes from idol dramas and playfully wrestling on a yoga mat.
When they go out, Lin Yang insists Lu Zhengan wear a hat and mask, teasing him about his good looks. Their date includes ear cleaning, sharing cotton candy, and enjoying afternoon tea, where they openly kiss and Lu Zhengan childishly competes with a nearby elderly couple in a show of public affection. While at a supermarket, Li Miaomiao runs into Cao Ling and learns they are neighbors.
Cao Ling receives a frantic call from her mother and rushes off, abandoning a shopping cart full of children's items. Shortly after, Lin Yang also receives an urgent call and leaves her date with Lu Zhengan. She finds a distraught Cao Ling, who reveals that her daughter, Tong Tong, fell and needed five stitches on her forehead, while her mother was hospitalized for high blood pressure with potential complications.
Cao Ling regrets not taking her mother's earlier complaints of dizziness seriously and admits she only called Lin Yang out of desperation. She reflects on her "midlife crisis," feeling the immense pressure of being the sole provider for both her child and her parent, and finally understands why her mother pushed her to go on blind dates—having a partner would have made the crisis more manageable. Lu Zhengan waits for Lin Yang outside their apartment.
When she returns, she is too exhausted to discuss her friend's emergency, arguing that adults should handle their own problems without burdening their partners. Frustrated, Lu Zhengan says he feels like a fool being kept in the dark and criticizes her for "acting old," insisting that even if he can't solve the problem, he can offer comfort.
Lin Yang relents and explains that her friend, a single mother, is dealing with her mother's collapse and her child, who fell and was still unconscious. Lu Zhengan immediately guesses it is Cao Ling, recalling a drunk phone call she once made. He reassures Lin Yang that her presence is the most important support she can offer, reminding her of her own words that "companionship itself can solve many problems."
Later, they both send messages to their parents, promising to visit soon. Li Miaomiao, now back to her fashion design career with her husband's support, tells him about her strange encounter with a panicked Cao Ling and her cart full of children's items. At the office, Yao Dan finds it odd that both Lin Yang and Cao Ling have taken leave.
In reality, Lin Yang is at home making chicken soup for Cao Ling, getting step-by-step instructions from Lu Zhengan over the phone. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan uses his manager Ma Le's cold as an excuse to drive him to a distant hospital, his real intention being to get closer to where Lin Yang is. When Yao Dan calls, Lin Yang pretends to be sick to cover her absence.
Episode 19 Recap
In a flashback, a young Lin Yang diligently practiced her singing at home every night. In the eyes of a young Lu Zhengan, she was already a champion. On the day of her school's singing competition, Lin Yang confidently told Lu Zhengan to wait for her to bring back a big trophy. However, she only placed last. She returned with two lollipops instead, claiming the trophy was too heavy and that lollipops were better because they could be eaten.
She then told Lu Zhengan she no longer wished to be a celebrity because it would mean they couldn't see each other anymore. Years later, Lu Zhengan brought Ma Le to a hospital for various tests, including blood work and a CT scan, claiming it was just a full body check-up. Ma Le, however, suspected Lu Zhengan was looking for someone and pressed him for the truth.
Before Lu Zhengan could respond, they unexpectedly encountered Cao Ling, who was accompanied by a little girl who called her "Mommy." Both Ma Le and Lu Zhengan were visibly surprised, and shortly after, Lin Yang also arrived, looking stunned. Meanwhile, at their workplace, Yao Dan was eating alone in the cafeteria when Sister Hai Ying approached her.
Sister Hai Ying casually inquired if Cao Ling was married or had a child, mentioning she overheard their boss, Mr. Hua, make a passing remark in the elevator that morning. Yao Dan vehemently denied it, assuring Sister Hai Ying on her integrity that it was impossible, as she spent every day with Cao Ling and knew about her recent blind dates.
Sister Hai Ying mused about women in the workplace often hiding their marital status or children due to career pressures, noting the difficulty women face. Later, Lu Zhengan visited Cao Ling's mother at the hospital. He introduced himself as An An, a friend of Cao Ling. Cao Ling's mother asked her granddaughter, Tong Tong, to greet him. Tong Tong, however, called Lin Yang "Aunty Yang" and Lu Zhengan "Brother."
Lu Zhengan then offered to take Tong Tong out for a walk so Lin Yang and Cao Ling could have a private conversation. After they left, Lin Yang explained to Cao Ling that she had no idea why Lu Zhengan was there, even suggesting he might have followed her. Cao Ling, however, believed Lu Zhengan's efforts were entirely for Lin Yang, a sentiment echoed by her mother, who observed Lu Zhengan's clear affection for Lin Yang.
Ma Le soon arrived, having been searching for Lu Zhengan. Tong Tong initially called him "Uncle," which Ma Le found endearing. Unconcerned that Cao Ling had a child but no husband, Ma Le declared his intention to pursue her. He then insisted on being admitted to the hospital for observation, claiming to feel unwell, despite Lu Zhengan's protests about Ma Le's company responsibilities and the embarrassment of taking a hospital bed for a simple cold.
Cao Ling's mother, observing the situation, commented on Lu Zhengan's general likability. She then advised Lin Yang and Cao Ling that at their age, they should seek a partner for immediate marriage rather than just dating, emphasizing that marriage is about a lifetime together, while love can be fleeting.
She urged Lin Yang not to accept Lu Zhengan, stating that parents prioritize a stable and kind partner, and her hope for Cao Ling was to find someone good to both her and Tong Tong. As she spoke, Ma Le returned with an armful of gifts for her and Tong Tong. Lin Yang, exasperated, firmly told Ma Le to leave.
Lin Yang later confronted both Ma Le and Lu Zhengan, demanding to know whose idea it was for Ma Le to insist on being hospitalized. She pointed out that Cao Ling was already overwhelmed and that Ma Le's immediate attempts to take care of her mother and child were frightening. She then criticized Lu Zhengan for investigating and finding the hospital. Lin Yang sternly warned them not to disclose Cao Ling's situation, especially to anyone at their company, Ruiye.
Ma Le questioned the secrecy, stating that being a single mother wasn't shameful and that Tong Tong's existence couldn't be hidden forever. Lin Yang agreed that single mothers aren't shameful but stressed that they were not the ones to make decisions for Cao Ling. She implored them to stop acting on her behalf, particularly advising Ma Le to learn respect if he genuinely intended to pursue her.
As Lin Yang left for work, she expressed feeling suffocated by Lu Zhengan's well-meaning but overbearing interference, asking him to give her personal space. Back at the company, Yao Dan's doubts about Cao Ling deepened as she recalled their earlier conversation and Mr. Hua's remarks. Meanwhile, Lin Yang encountered a man in the elevator whom she recognized as Xiao Zhe, Cao Ling's ex-husband. She swiftly pulled him into the stairwell.
Xiao Zhe, looking for Cao Ling, showed no concern upon hearing that Tong Tong and her grandmother were hospitalized, claiming he had no money and that Cao Ling wouldn't let him see their child anyway. Lin Yang angrily called him a scumbag. Xiao Zhe explained he was in financial trouble and needed to borrow 20,000 yuan to keep his business afloat.
Realizing this wasn't the first time he had asked Cao Ling for money, Lin Yang agreed to lend it to him on the condition that he promised to never bother Cao Ling again. Xiao Zhe readily agreed and departed. Separately, Ma Le continued to pester Lu Zhengan for Cao Ling's contact information.
Lu Zhengan refused and instead sought advice from a group of middle-aged women, asking for guidance on how a "friend" should pursue a financially independent woman in her early thirties. The women offered various tips, including being handsome, practical, and understanding boundaries. They emphasized that such a woman would need time to lower her emotional guard.
Ma Le then added a hypothetical scenario where the "friend's" woman had a four-year-old child, to which one of the women sarcastically remarked on the coincidence. Later, Yao Dan confronted Lin Yang, having noticed her evasiveness. She invited Lin Yang to dinner to discuss Cao Ling. When Lin Yang continued to feign ignorance, Yao Dan became upset, recognizing the lie.
She burst into tears, feeling betrayed that Lin Yang and Cao Ling treated her merely as a colleague when she considered them her best friends. Ma Le, witnessing the emotional exchange, pondered whether he should focus on Cao Ling's daughter or her mother in his pursuit, before Lu Zhengan abruptly left. Lin Yang found herself drinking alone at a restaurant.
The owner remarked that Lu Zhengan had also been there alone after Lin Yang had "kicked him out," suggesting he had looked pained and might have cried. Lin Yang later texted Lu Zhengan, saying she was working overtime and apologizing for her earlier anger. Lu Zhengan, secretly watching her from outside the restaurant, replied that he was the one at fault and that he would always forgive her, then simply told her to work well and get home safely.
On her way home, Lin Yang tried to air out the alcohol smell while Lu Zhengan walked quietly behind her. Sitting outside her building, Lin Yang typed a lengthy message to Cao Ling. She expressed understanding for Cao Ling hiding her situation from colleagues but questioned why she also concealed it from Yao Dan, who was a true friend.
Lin Yang urged Cao Ling not to shoulder everything alone and to move past her self-pity, but she hesitated and unsent the message. Moments later, Lin Yang received a call from her mother, who reassured her they were fine. After hanging up, Lu Zhengan appeared, explaining he had been waiting for her since her apartment lights were off. They held hands and walked home together, unaware that their actions were being secretly recorded by a phone in the shadows.
Episode 20 Recap
Recalling a time in their youth, Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan once secretly drank half a bottle of red wine while their parents were away, only for their parents to return home to find them passed out amidst a mess. After sobering up, they received a harsh punishment. In the present, after her drunken night out, Lu Zhengan finds Lin Yang asleep. He gently wakes her, coaxing her to take hangover medicine to avoid a terrible headache.
Still drowsy, Lin Yang kisses Lu Zhengan, confessing her profound love for him—a love she admits is deeper than he imagines or even she herself realized. As he carefully dries her hair, she reflects that she once thought loving him meant being his everything, but now understands it's she who can't live without him. The next morning, Lu Zhengan brings Ma Le, laden with gifts, to the hospital to formally apologize to Cao Ling.
He vouches for Ma Le, saying that despite seeming unreliable, he is trustworthy. Cao Ling accepts the apology but declines the gifts, though Lu Zhengan insists they are a sincere gesture. She eventually agrees to their "cross-age friendship." Meanwhile, Lin Yang finds a furious Yao Dan, who feels betrayed and foolish for worrying, accusing Lin Yang and Cao Ling of forming a clique and sharing secrets behind her back.
Just then, Cao Ling calls, and Lin Yang pulls a reluctant Yao Dan into a taxi. At a park, Cao Ling has her daughter, Tong Tong, meet them. After being coached by her mother to call Yao Dan "Sister Dan," Tong Tong runs toward them, sweetly calling out "Aunty Yang, Sister Dan." Despite her anger, Yao Dan's heart melts instantly.
As Tong Tong plays nearby, Cao Ling apologizes to Yao Dan, explaining she had planned to tell her everything in person after being discharged. When Lin Yang criticizes Yao Dan for her reaction, Yao Dan surprisingly leaps to Cao Ling's defense. She argues that Cao Ling's reserved, professional nature makes her slow to open up, unlike them.
Cao Ling admits that while being a single mother isn't shameful, she never found the right moment to mention it after joining the company. Yao Dan then notices a scar on Cao Ling's wrist and scolds her for harming herself over a "scumbag." Cao Ling tearfully recounts a moment of despair after her divorce, overwhelmed by loneliness and a lack of support, but promises it won't happen again now that she has them.
She also reveals that Lu Zhengan had visited her that morning and encouraged her to stop hiding, which prompted her to arrange this meeting. Yao Dan comforts her, advising her to let go of the past and embrace the good things in her life: a wonderful daughter and true friends.
Delighted to receive a photo of the three reconciled friends, Lu Zhengan's good mood is noted by Ma Le, who discovers Lu Zhengan is in a group chat with Cao Ling and Yao Dan, but not Lin Yang. He jokingly blackmails Lu Zhengan for Cao Ling's contact, promising to keep his secret. Later, Yao Dan, still furious about Cao Ling's ex-husband, vows to deal with him if he ever appears, while lamenting Lin Yang's lost 20,000 yuan.
She theorizes that Cao Ling's failed relationship wasn't due to the age gap but the man himself, encouraging Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan to succeed and prove her right. Yao Dan's words make Lin Yang reflect on her own insecurities, realizing she had overlooked the immense pressure Lu Zhengan also faced from societal judgment and his own ambitions, a burden no less than her own. That evening, Lin Yang decides to cook for Lu Zhengan.
After running out to buy noodles, she realizes she's forgotten her keys and is locked out of their building in her bathrobe. Lu Zhengan is startled to find her outside when he drives up in a new car. He explains the car is "theirs," purchased with his endorsement money. He then playfully points out she has unblended face cream on her face, to her mortification, but tells her he finds it adorable.
She silently thanks him for showing her that with effort and perseverance, life can be wonderful. Later, as Lu Zhengan devours the terrible-tasting noodles Lin Yang cooked, he praises them enthusiastically and offers to take over all future cooking duties to protect her from the kitchen fumes. While they are channel-surfing on the sofa, the evening ends with a slightly awkward goodnight.
As they head to their separate rooms, Lin Yang pauses and tentatively asks Lu Zhengan if he wants to sleep together. Lying in bed, Lin Yang asks him if their age-gap relationship is much harder than he had imagined, admitting she feels exhausted by it at times. Lu Zhengan quietly agrees that he also feels tired.
She confesses that despite her strong exterior, she is not as self-sufficient as she appears; his presence is what gives her the confidence to be unapologetically herself. Promising to change, she asks him to promise he'll never leave her. As she moves to turn off the light, Lu Zhengan pulls her close and asks if she is sure. Lin Yang answers him with a passionate kiss, and the room fills with their renewed intimacy.
Episode 21 Recap
In the past, Lin Yang's parents discovered a note containing song lyrics. Though it was merely about celebrity worship and not puppy love, Lin Yang's mother was furious and confiscated all her possessions related to Jay Chou, calling them useless. Lu Zhengan, observing the scene, secretly vowed that one day he would write and sing his own songs, master all instruments, appear on television, and become Lin Yang's idol—her very life.
Years later, Lin Yang woke up to the morning sun, finding herself in Lu Zhengan's embrace. She discreetly slipped out of bed to get dressed before he fully awoke, then awkwardly mumbled about going to wash up. When Lu Zhengan emerged shirtless, Lin Yang struggled to look him directly in the eye, feeling embarrassed and unaccustomed to his presence.
He pulled her into a warm embrace, playfully suggesting that she would get used to it if she looked at him more. She shyly admitted she wasn't wearing makeup, but he reassured her she looked beautiful. They shared a moment, with him playfully calling her "Wifey" and bantering about who would make breakfast before Lin Yang insisted on handling it herself. While Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan enjoyed their morning, Jia Lu Xin had already confirmed they were cohabiting.
Her assistant had been following them for days, noting their affectionate displays. Jia Lu Xin remarked on the unusual pairing—a "faded beauty" and a "rising star"—but concluded that the less conventional the match, the more interesting it became. Since they dared to defy her, she decided it was time to make a big move.
Meanwhile, Ma Le was busy crafting a playful message to Cao Ling about her and her daughter's discharge from the hospital when he suddenly received intimate photos of Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan. Back at their apartment, Lin Yang silently tied a silk scarf around her neck. Lu Zhengan drove Lin Yang to work, and they exchanged reluctant goodbyes before she departed. He then called Ma Le back. Ma Le, without revealing the photos, quickly sought out Xie Nanke.
Ma Le was convinced Jia Lu Xin was behind the leak, driven by unrequited love turned hatred. Xie Nanke advised against a direct confrontation, especially during their "special period" due to Lu Zhengan's endorsement deal. He instructed Ma Le to devise a plausible excuse to get Lu Zhengan to move out of Lin Yang's place immediately, emphasizing that Lu Zhengan must not know the real reason.
Later, Yao Dan showed Li Tian a photo of a man, instructing her to intercept him and notify her immediately if she saw him. Li Tian, curious, pressed for details, and Yao Dan reluctantly admitted the man was her ex-boyfriend who had cheated on her and was now pestering her again, even threatening her with their past.
Yao Dan pondered whether to inform Cao Ling about Cao Ling's ex-husband's harassment, but ultimately decided against it, reminding herself that Lin Yang had given her money specifically to ensure Director Cao's peace of mind. Noticing Lin Yang's silk scarf, Yao Dan playfully insisted on trying it on, pulling it off Lin Yang's neck to reveal a plaster, which Lin Yang dismissed as a "mosquito bite" she had accidentally scratched.
In the elevator, they encountered Mr. Hua, who complimented Lin Yang's excellent spirits, remarking that "dating really makes you different." Lin Yang expressed her concern about potential adjustments to her work at the company if she were to marry and have children, fearing that women with families might be seen as less committed.
Mr. Hua, however, reassured her, stating that marriage and childbirth are natural and that a woman's ability to balance family and work, not her gender, determines her capacity for significant responsibilities. He advised her not to delay her personal happiness for her career. Just then, Jia Lu Xin arrived as Mr. Hua's client, prompting Lin Yang to subtly roll her eyes.
Ma Le reluctantly disclosed the existence of the photos to Lu Zhengan, who initially dismissed them, believing the true target was Ma Le and that the photos couldn't be used to cause significant trouble. Ma Le implored Lu Zhengan to endure the situation for the remaining year of the promotion period.
However, Lu Zhengan surprisingly suggested they admit their relationship right away, arguing that if they were already targeted, being secretive was futile, and it was better to "show his cards early" before the official announcement of his endorsement. He confidently stated his willingness to cover any potential losses, including liquidated damages and Yunlang's financing, revealing that his family owned "more than 300 restaurants."
Ma Le questioned if he was truly willing to sacrifice his "golden period"—his fame, popularity, and all future opportunities—for Lin Yang. Lu Zhengan firmly replied that when compared to her, he had "no choice." Ma Le, seeing his resolve, reluctantly agreed to help resolve the situation, but Lu Zhengan sternly warned him that Lin Yang must never find out.
Shortly after, Lu Zhengan called his father, startling him so much that his father immediately pulled over his car and took a heart reliever. Meanwhile, Mr. Hua and Jia Lu Xin were in a meeting, discussing their jewelry brand's upcoming launch. Lin Yang, present at the meeting, openly questioned Jia Lu Xin’s insistence on Lu Zhengan as the brand ambassador, pointing out his current lack of fame and unproven album sales.
Jia Lu Xin acknowledged his current status but expressed strong confidence in his potential, declaring that doing business was a gamble she was certain to win. She explained that she preferred finding a "potential star" to "advance together" with their brand, rather than an established celebrity. She demanded a three-year endorsement contract, with a strict clause prohibiting any behavior that could damage the brand's image or any scandals.
Before leaving, Jia Lu Xin subtly warned Lin Yang that this was a rare opportunity for everyone involved and that she should consider others' interests even if she didn't care about her own. Returning home later that evening, Lin Yang found Lu Zhengan asleep, having prepared a meal for her.
He woke up, took her hand, and made her promise that no matter what happened in the future, she would never let go, "even if it is for my own good." Lin Yang, wanting to be open with her mother about her relationship with Lu Zhengan, found herself unable to find the right words as she practiced the conversation. She tried her father's number, but it didn't connect.
Finally, she called their home landline, and Aunty Wang answered, revealing that Lin Yang's father had just undergone surgery that afternoon and her mother had been taking care of him for over half a month, exhausted. Moments after hanging up, Lin Yang's mother called, still trying to conceal the seriousness of her father's condition by claiming he was just out for a walk.
Lin Yang understood the unspoken truth and, without exposing the lie, immediately began packing her bags to return home. Lu Zhengan, concerned, wanted to accompany her, but Lin Yang insisted he stay behind due to his ongoing work. As Lu Zhengan drove her to the airport, he softly sang her a song, offering comfort as she prepared for her journey.
Episode 22 Recap
Following the discovery of their cohabitation, the consequences of Lin Yang and Lu Zheng An's relationship begin to unfold. A potential client’s demand that Lu Zheng An be single for a major endorsement deal creates an immediate dilemma. When Mr. Hua inquires about Lu Zheng An's relationship status, Li Tian nearly reveals the truth but deflects, suggesting Mr. Hua ask Lin Yang directly since they are close.
Li Tian is privately infuriated by the client's invasive prerequisite, but Li Miaomiao advises her not to interfere, believing Lin Yang has her own reasons for keeping the relationship private. Meanwhile, Ma Le confronts Jia Lu Xin, accusing her of orchestrating the recent leak. Jia Lu Xin feigns ignorance but asserts that she is the only one who can resolve the situation, offering Ma Le a partnership and declaring that she always gets what she wants.
Ma Le furiously rejects her, stating he is not short of money and would rather destroy his company than let it fall into her hands. He declares his willingness to face bankruptcy and start over, criticizing her for valuing nothing but money. As he leaves, Ma Le is overcome with worry, reflecting that his company, Yunlang, is his life's work. Lin Yang rushes to her hometown hospital after learning from a family friend that her father has undergone surgery.
She is heartbroken to find him unconscious in recovery. When Lu Zheng An calls, a tearful Lin Yang expresses her guilt for not noticing her father's condition sooner and her fear that she might have missed her last chance to see him. Her mother, Yao Jing Wen, explains they hid the news to avoid worrying her, but now questions the value of Lin Yang's career if it comes at the cost of family.
The two embrace, promising to never hide things from each other again. Upon hearing of Lin Yang’s distress, Lu Zheng An immediately instructs his assistant to compress a week's work into three days so he can go to her. At a hospital in the city, Ma Le, seeking a quiet place to think, encounters Cao Ling. Sensing his distress, Yao Dan, who was meeting Cao Ling, tactfully leaves them to have a meal together.
Over beer, Ma Le confesses that he is facing bankruptcy, as Yunlang has been struggling for years. He feels responsible for the current crisis, as Lu Zheng An was targeted because of his relationship with Lin Yang. Ma Le admits he can't let Lu Zheng An bear the financial burden, especially since his family disapproves of his music career.
He recounts how he initially saw Lu Zheng An as a profitable product but grew to deeply admire and envy his selfless, all-consuming love for Lin Yang, wishing he could experience such a love himself. Cao Ling listens empathetically, affirming his compassionate nature and advising him to follow his heart. Lu Zheng An arranges and pays for Lin Yang’s father to be moved to a VIP ward, allowing Lin Yang and her mother to rest at home.
Lin Yang’s mother expresses her deep gratitude and sense of indebtedness to Lu Zheng An’s family, who had provided significant financial help during their most difficult times years ago. She admits she has not contacted Lu Zheng An's mother, her former best friend, in over two years, feeling the growing economic disparity has created a rift between them. Lin Yang insists true friendship transcends such things.
Ma Le convenes a meeting with Lu Zheng An and their lawyer, Xie Nanke, to address the crisis. Ma Le proposes they publicly admit the relationship, arguing that dating is not a scandal. Xie Nanke strongly objects, warning that a vindictive party could easily turn public opinion against Lin Yang, who would bear the brunt of the backlash. He suggests framing their bond as a sibling-like friendship instead.
However, Lu Zheng An is resolute, declaring that the only way to truly protect Lin Yang is to be open and honest about their relationship, so they can face whatever comes without fear. When Xie Nanke argues he can't make this decision for her, Ma Le proposes they split up: Xie Nanke will talk to Lin Yang, while he approaches Mr. Hua.
Just then, Li Miaomiao calls Lin Yang, advising her to tell Mr. Hua about her relationship herself, given the trust he has in her. As she arrives back at the hospital, Lin Yang is met by Lu Zheng An’s parents, Aunty Chen and Uncle Lu. In the ward, an emotional Aunty Chen confronts Yao Jing Wen, hurt and angry that she wasn't told about her husband's surgery.
The tearful, heated exchange, in which she questions their friendship, wakes Lin Yang’s father, and his parents' relief is palpable. Elsewhere, Jia Lu Xin reports to Mr. Hua that her investigation found no other scandals involving Lu Zheng An, which she finds suspiciously clean. Later, Mr. Hua and Ma Le share a drink, discussing their entrepreneurial pasts.
Ma Le reveals that while his past ventures were purely for profit, his music company, Yunlang, is his dream, born from a pure love of music. He distinguishes between his "business" and his "dream," pondering what the future holds for his company.
Episode 23 Recap
A flashback to their childhood reveals a formative incident where Lu Zhengan accidentally shattered a treasured vase belonging to his mother, Yao Jingwen. A crying Lu Zhengan was comforted by Lin Yang, who advised him to deny everything. She then wrote a heartfelt apology note to Lu Zhihao and Yao Jingwen, taking full responsibility for the vase and promising to replace it when she grew up.
Upon finding the note, Lu Zhihao, instead of revealing the truth, claimed he was the one who broke it. When Lin Yang's father, an antique enthusiast, examined the fragments, he confirmed it was a genuine and valuable antique from the Qing Dynasty's Qianlong reign. A furious Yao Jingwen chased her husband, while Lu Zhihao took the moment to tell a young Lu Zhengan to always listen to him, emphasizing that he was a good father.
In the present, having wrapped up his work, Lu Zhengan prepared to meet Lin Yang. His colleague handed him a package of ginseng from Ma Le for Lin Yang's father. Meanwhile, Ma Le and Mr. Hua were drinking together. Ma Le admitted his initial dislike for Lu Zhengan's arrogance had turned into admiration for his unwavering determination. He then proposed that they, as successful men, should unite to protect Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang's budding romance.
Mr. Hua was bewildered, having believed they were siblings. Learning that his star employee Lin Yang was dating Yunlang Music's sole musician, Lu Zhengan, left him stunned. Ma Le reassured him that Yunlang would handle any professional repercussions and happily toasted to their new status as in-laws. While Ma Le and Mr. Hua continued their celebration with off-key singing, Lin Yang, her mother, Lu Zhihao, and Yao Jingwen were making dumplings at home.
Lu Zhihao's comments about Lin Yang's age, thirty-one, prompted Yao Jingwen to note the seven-year age gap with the twenty-four-year-old Lu Zhengan. Yao Jingwen reminisced that she had given up on Lin Yang as a potential daughter-in-law long ago, adding that her son preferred a "silly, crying, laughing, clingy, and spoiled little sweetheart." Just then, Lin Yang received a call from Lu Zhengan.
Annoyed by her mother's comments, she answered curtly, only for Lu Zhengan to describe his ideal type, which perfectly matched her childhood self—and, in his eyes, her current self too. She rushed downstairs to find him waiting, visibly tired from his journey. He embraced her tightly, saying he was "out of gas" and needed her to recharge, confirming she was everything he wanted. Later, Lin Yang's mother defended Lu Zhengan's independence to a skeptical Yao Jingwen.
Moments later, Lin Yang returned with Lu Zhengan, and Yao Jingwen, realizing he had lied about being on a business trip, playfully chased him for his deception. Lin Yang intervened, explaining he had rushed back because he missed his parents. During the meal, Yao Jingwen teased Lu Zhengan about his supposed girlfriend in Qingning.
Lu Zhengan playfully offered to be a live-in son-in-law, which Lu Zhihao interpreted for his wife as a promise to treat his future daughter-in-law like his own child. Lin Yang discreetly messaged Lu Zhengan, cautioning him against revealing their relationship yet. Afterward, Lu Zhihao confessed to his son that his recent request for a large sum of money, requiring the sale of shares, had nearly given him a heart attack.
However, he affirmed his enthusiastic approval of Lin Yang as a daughter-in-law, saying he "dreams of it," and assured Lu Zhengan he would handle Yao Jingwen, the key to both their relationship and any financial support. That evening, Yao Jingwen decided to share a room with Lin Yang's mother.
This arrangement resulted in Lu Zhihao and Lu Zhengan being sent to a hotel, with Lu Zhihao lamenting his fate in the cold and calling out for his sick friend to get well soon. Inside, the two mothers reminisced about their younger days, with Yao Jingwen confiding that she lacked true friends.
Although she reaffirmed their lifelong friendship, Yao Jingwen expressed her disappointment that a match between their children was now impossible, revealing she had noticed a ring on Lu Zhengan's left ring finger—a clear sign, since he never wore jewelry, that he already had a girlfriend she was determined to identify. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang shared a secret embrace in the living room.
He promised that if their families disapproved, he would remain unmarried, and they would live their lives together secretly. Their moment was interrupted when Lin Yang's mother came for water, forcing Lu Zhengan to feign sleep on the sofa as Lin Yang hastily retreated to her room. The next morning, Mr. Hua offered to be a dedicated driver for his wife, Li Miaomiao, who had plans to meet former colleagues.
As they drove, they discussed Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang's relationship, agreeing it was a wonderful development for the "childhood sweethearts." Li Miaomiao noted that any business loss was worth it to keep a valuable person like Lin Yang, who would eventually earn it all back and more. After dropping her off, Mr. Hua received a call from Jia Luxin and firmly rejected her collaboration offer. Enraged, Jia Luxin instructed her subordinate to use all available channels to spread negative press about Lu Zhengan, aiming to tarnish his reputation on the widest possible scale.
Episode 24 Recap
Lin Yang's father once rewarded her with a bicycle after she scored over ninety-five, and young Lin Yang was overjoyed, anticipating riding it with her classmates to Dujuan Mountain. However, she didn't know how to ride. One day, as she was clumsily navigating the bike, she spotted young Lu Zhengan being bullied by another child. Lin Yang bravely intervened, then quickly pulled Lu Zhengan onto the bike and sped off, instinctively realizing she could ride.
Her joy was short-lived, though, as she, along with the bike, tumbled into a ditch. Years later, both families gathered in Lin Yang’s father's hospital room, sharing lighthearted stories. Lu Zhengan's father joked about Lin Yang's father's sudden illness, while Lu Zhengan's mother, Jing Wen, and Lu Zhengan's father discussed plans for a trip for just the four adults once Lin Yang’s father was discharged.
Jing Wen fondly recalled how Lin Yang used to dress Lu Zhengan as a little girl, complete with floral dresses and red hairpins, even showing photos that had once worried them. During this time, Lin Yang stepped out to make a phone call to Hua Zong. She intended to confess her situation, but Hua Zong, already aware, reassured her to focus on caring for her family.
He explained that he had already turned down Ms. Jia's project and that the company had enough work. He saw her falling in love as a good thing and reminded her that the company always supports its dedicated, older single female employees, citing Li Tian's previous situation as an example of the company's reciprocal support. He advised Lin Yang that collective power always triumphs over individual strength and told her not to worry.
Just as Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan were about to speak, Lu Zhengan's mother appeared, startling them. She then sent them off to buy Longjitian pastries, telling them to return later as the adults wanted to talk. Holding hands, Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan walked, agreeing to wholeheartedly fulfill their long-held dreams that day. Lin Yang, though excited, expressed concern about being recognized in their hometown.
Lu Zhengan dismissed her worries, playfully stating he had moved away when he was six and had grown so handsome that no one would recognize him. As they strolled, Lin Yang tried to get Lu Zhengan to call her "older sister," something he had never done, but he teasingly refused. They noticed the old house was gone, torn down and rebuilt, and many other childhood landmarks had disappeared. Yet, they found comfort in the unchanging presence of each other.
Meanwhile, Li Tian treated Xie Nanke to a meal, celebrating her first month's salary. She had clearly moved on from her past feelings, but Xie Nanke remained visibly heartbroken. Realizing Lin Yang was likely his first love, Li Tian offered two strategies for overcoming heartbreak: changing habits or desensitization therapy.
She explained how she herself used the latter by returning to Ruiye and constantly telling herself that Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan were deeply in love and would grow old together, a belief she now genuinely held. Li Tian revealed her plan to study abroad to completely put the past behind her, but before she could elaborate, a news notification popped up on her phone, detailing a scandalous rumor involving Lu Zhengan.
The news of Lu Zhengan's alleged relationship spread rapidly, stating he was cohabiting with a female staff member. While Lu Zhengan's name was exposed, Lin Yang's photo was blurred, and her name kept anonymous. Amidst the chaos, Lu Zhengan’s parents insisted that Lin Yang’s father stay at their home after his discharge, citing convenience.
Simultaneously, both Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang received urgent phone calls; Lu Zhengan from Cao Ling, who confirmed a competitor was behind the leak to target the brand, and Lin Yang from Ma Le. Ma Le urged Lin Yang to stay in Qiuyin Town with Lu Zhengan, advising them to reach a consensus and not to respond publicly. He assured her that he, Hua Zong, and Xie Nanke would handle everything.
Shortly after, Lu Zhengan's mother saw the online report and, in a fit of anger, fainted. Upon regaining consciousness, she confronted Lu Zhengan, demanding to know the woman's identity and if they were cohabiting. Lu Zhengan, glancing at Lin Yang, downplayed it, stating she was merely a female colleague he had occasionally driven home. Lin Yang corroborated his story, but his mother remained unconvinced.
Meanwhile, Hua Zong, Ma Le, and Xie Nanke convened a meeting with their client, where Hua Zong unequivocally informed them that Lin Yang was indeed the woman in the report and Lu Zhengan's girlfriend. Later, Lin Yang's mother directly asked her if the woman in the photos was her, recognizing a pair of high heels they had bought together. Lin Yang admitted it was her and that she and Lu Zhengan were a couple.
She explained she had delayed telling them due to her father’s hospitalization and fears of her aunt’s reaction. She confirmed the compensation claims were real but pleaded with her mother to trust her to handle the situation. Her mother then asked a pivotal question: "Are you sure it's love?" Lin Yang’s answer was resolute: "I am sure. I love him. Very much." After his mother had fallen asleep, Lu Zhengan sought out Lin Yang.
He revealed that he had already seen the photos, sent anonymously to Ma Le, and had decided to admit everything, regardless of the consequences. Lin Yang was upset that he hadn't consulted her. She stated that she didn't care about public opinion but cared deeply about their families. She argued that if he used his parents' money for compensation, it would strain the decades-long friendship between their families, making it impossible for them to remain together.
She reassured him that she would not give up on him and urged him to wait for a solution. After Lu Zhengan left, Lin Yang sent a message to Xie Nanke, instructing him to direct all public attention onto her by portraying her and Lu Zhengan as siblings and providing their childhood photos to minimize the impact on Lu Zhengan.
After their meeting with the client, Xie Nanke shared Lin Yang's message with Hua Zong and Ma Le, noting that Lu Zhengan was unaware of her plan. Elsewhere, Li Tian grew anxious, telling Li Miaomiao that even though she has moved on, she couldn't stand by and let someone bully Lu Zhengan, who should always remain bold and reckless in her memory. Later, Hua Zong, Ma Le, and Xie Nanke returned home drunk after celebrating with the client.
Hua Zong explained their strategy to a frustrated Li Tian: they would make no immediate public response, allowing the uproar to serve as a "warm-up." He elaborated that public opinion would dictate the outcome. If it was positive, all was well; if negative, they would have to either issue a clarification or replace Lu Zhengan, with their company bearing all financial losses as Party B. Li Tian questioned what there was to celebrate in such an uncertain situation. Xie Nanke then bluntly stated that Lu Zhengan would never issue a clarification, and the client, Party A, only cared about results, not about Lu Zhengan's personal life or affections.
Episode 25 Recap
In a flashback to their childhood, Lu Zhengan is bullied by classmates after refusing to play with a girl named Niu Haoqiang. Lin Yang encourages him to report the bullying to his teacher. This backfires when the teacher visits their home to complain, revealing that Lu Zhengan has reported Niu Haoqiang—who secretly has a crush on him—thirty-six times in a single day, causing all the other children to ostracize him.
Lin Yang bravely takes the blame, insisting she told him to report it and firmly stating that ganging up to isolate someone is wrong. She promises Lu Zhengan that if no one else will play with him, she will, vowing to always stand by his side and asking him to call her "Sister." In the present, the scandal surrounding Lu Zhengan escalates overnight.
At the company, colleagues gossip about the blurry photos, speculating that the woman is Lin Yang and that they are dating. Ma Le dismisses their chatter, telling them to focus on their work. The news trends online, with some fans declaring Lu Zhengan's career is ruined, while others accuse the woman of seducing him. Li Tian fiercely defends Lu Zhengan, chastising the superficial fans and urging them to support his work instead of spreading rumors.
Meanwhile, Lin Yang tells Yao Dan and Cao Ling that she plans to return to work the following week. While they worry about her, Lin Yang is more concerned with her appearance in the photos, complaining that she looks "fat" and that the pictures must have been deliberately altered to make her look worse. She mentions that the company head, Mr. Hua, has told her to trust them to handle the situation.
Li Tian jokes that she wishes she could claim to be the woman in the photos, but admits no one would believe her as she is "shorter and fatter." Both families confront the couple separately. Lin Yang's mother, over a somber breakfast, presses her for details about the relationship. Simultaneously, Lu Zhengan's mother sends his father away and demands that Lu Zhengan confess everything, even telling him to call Lin Yang on the spot.
In parallel confessions to their mothers, the couple reveals the depth of their feelings. Lu Zhengan explains that though they have only been official for two months, it feels like years, as he has known her for a long time. He describes rushing to Qingning for her and how she took him in when he arrived with only a suitcase and a guitar.
He admits that while he initially thought she would be a burden, he was the one being cared for. Lin Yang shares that she initially pushed him away, but his persistent pursuit won her over. She feels he has matured and that being with him makes her feel more childish, like a "hopeless romantic." Lu Zhengan adds that Lin Yang inspires him to be a better person and that he wants to marry her, regardless of his mother's approval.
Moved, Lin Yang's mother tells her that at thirty-two, it is a blessing to find someone who makes her feel like a young girl again, emphasizing that her happiness is more important than "face." Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan's mother, after questioning him about Lin Yang's age and occupation, tearfully reveals she already knew the truth from fan descriptions.
Lu Zhengan rushes to the hospital to see Lin Yang, disagreeing fiercely with her plan to have him deny their relationship to protect him. He insists he will not lie. Lin Yang argues that since he took the endorsement deal because of her, she is the "culprit" and can resolve the issue herself. Their argument spills out to the hospital entrance, where they run into both their mothers, who announce they are all going out for a nice meal.
At the restaurant, the atmosphere is tense. Lu Zhengan's mother places a bank card on the table, stating it contains enough money to cover the compensation and contract termination fee. However, she presents Lu Zhengan with a harsh ultimatum: if he accepts the money, he must promise, in front of everyone, to give up music forever. As a conflicted Lu Zhengan starts to reach for the card, Lin Yang forcefully turns the rotating tabletop away from him.
She passionately argues that music is his dream, something he has worked tirelessly for, and he cannot abandon it, just as his mother wouldn't abandon her restaurant. Hearing this, Lu Zhengan's mother retrieves the card. The next day, Ma Le receives calls from agitated partners, but notes that public opinion online is shifting, with many now defending Lu Zhengan. As Lin Yang heads to work, Lu Zhengan follows her.
She issues a stern warning: if he accepts the bank card behind her back, they will break up, as she cannot bear the immense cost their relationship would demand. Lu Zhengan quietly agrees. Later, Lu Zhengan and his father meet for drinks. His father reminisces and explains that Lu Zhengan's mother, despite her tough exterior, misses him deeply.
He advises Lu Zhengan to focus on his music to make her proud, and to always put his woman first in any difficulty. Lu Zhengan laments feeling powerless to protect Lin Yang. His father then gives him a bank card, explaining it's his own private money offered as a loan, and tells him to "bring my daughter-in-law back."
He offers profound emotional support, reminding the 24-year-old Lu Zhengan that it is natural for the older Lin Yang to shield him now, but that with time, he will grow into the man who can protect her from anything. Deeply moved, Lu Zhengan weeps. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan's mother sends Lin Yang a long, heartfelt message. She clarifies that when she said she would "die on the spot" if they got together, she meant she would be "happy to death."
She apologizes for not realizing their feelings sooner, admitting she never dared to imagine it due to their age difference. She expresses her joy, calling their union a blessing and their destiny, and urges them to hold each other's hands firmly, just as they did as children, assuring them that love can solve anything, and "if there is, you still got us." Upon reading the message, Lin Yang runs out in her slippers and tearfully embraces both mothers.
Lu Zhengan's mother is overjoyed, declaring that she and his father are now Lin Yang's family and strongest supporters, even jokingly suggesting Lin Yang start calling her "mom." At the same time, Lu Zhengan receives a message from Lin Yang and instantly sobers up. He ecstatically embraces his father, shouting, "My mom approved, Dad! Your wife approved!"
Episode 26 Recap
When the Lu family prepared to move, a flashback reveals a young Lin Yang finding it incredibly difficult to say goodbye, expressing her wish for them to stay. A distraught Lu Zhengan asked his father if their family could move with Lin Yang's. Their parents, however, explained that the move was necessary for work and Lu Zhengan's schooling.
Lin Yang desperately pleaded with her mother to let Lu Zhengan stay, but her mother teased that Lin Yang would only bully him. Lu Zhengan’s mother, Chen Jie, then gently explained that Lu Zhengan was going to a better life, and Lin Yang shouldn't hinder him. With only a few days left before the move, their parents told them to say a proper goodbye.
Locked in their respective homes and separated by a door, Lin Yang gave Lu Zhengan her cherished toy bear, Axiu, telling him to hold it if he felt scared at night. In return, Lu Zhengan gave her his book of drawings, promising to draw better in the future, and his toy bricks, vowing to play with them upon his return.
He instructed her to use a stick to fight back if anyone bullied her, to call him every day, and to stop drawing watches on her wrists because they were hard to wash off. Finally, he gave her his favorite transformer, asking her to remember him whenever she saw it. In the present, Xie Nanke had prepared a lawyer's letter but knew that to fully resolve the online scandal, they needed to address the source: Jia Luxin.
His niece, Li Tian, arrived at his law firm, explaining her multiple connections to the case as a Ruiye employee, Lin Yang's colleague and alumna, and his relative. She wasn't seeking internal information but wanted to confirm his sincerity in helping them. After he affirmed it, Li Tian asserted that public opinion was irrelevant; what truly mattered to brands was sales.
She argued that since the primary consumers of lipstick are women, he, as a man with little understanding of love, wouldn't fully grasp the situation, frustrating Xie Nanke. When he urged her to be direct, Li Tian playfully mirrored his earlier professional stance, stating her own "work ethic" prevented her from elaborating. Lin Yang later told her mother she intended to formally inform her father and Uncle Lu about her relationship with Lu Zhengan.
Her mother revealed it was unnecessary, as everyone already knew. Lu Zhengan's father was the first to find out, followed by her mother, and then Chen Jie and Lin Yang's father learned at the same time. The bank cards presented at the dining table had been a test. Lin Yang’s mother noted Chen Jie's disappointment at being the last to know, despite being the one who most wanted them together.
She had already packed Lin Yang's luggage, instructing her to visit her father in the hospital and then return to Qingning with Lu Zhengan to handle the online crisis, as they were the "parties involved." She also mentioned that Chen Jie had worried her pride would prevent her from accepting Lu Zhengan, but she dismissed this, believing her daughter was more than worthy.
She highlighted that Lin Yang would have a wonderful mother-in-law, a key reason Lin Yang had agreed to the relationship. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan's mother, Chen Jie, teased him about his obvious happiness. She explained she knew about his relationship because Lin Yang always defended him, and his evasiveness about his girlfriend’s identity in the hospital was a clear giveaway.
She proudly declared that him getting together with Lin Yang was the only thing he had done in his life that truly satisfied her, threatening to disown him if he messed it up. When she offered him a bank card, he refused, revealing his father had already given him one. This led Chen Jie to humorously confront her husband, Lu Zhihao, about his secret savings.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Lin Yang decided to take Lu Zhengan's advice and "gamble" on their future. Their parents watched from a distance as they entered. A profound realization dawned on Lin Yang: she had always imagined love as self-sacrifice, but now understood it as standing side by side and mutually fulfilling each other. Inside the hospital room, their parents offered blessings.
Chen Jie told Lu Zhengan to call her if Lin Yang bullied him, while Lin Yang's mother advised her to be gentler. Lu Zhengan's father, Lu Zhihao, then assured Lin Yang's father that in his eyes, Lin Yang would always come before his son, second only to Chen Jie. As they left, Chen Jie urged Lu Zhengan to hold Lin Yang's hand tightly.
Overjoyed, Lu Zhihao joked he needed to keep his hospital bed from the excitement, but Chen Jie insisted they needed to live to see their grandchildren. On the day Cao Ling's mother and Tong Tong were discharged from the hospital, Ma Le picked them up, noting that Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan had returned home happy, having found a solution.
At the office, Li Tian was engrossed in her laptop, humorously claiming she was "saving the earth," while a frantic Yao Dan rushed past, declaring she was "saving the universe." Li Tian was on the phone, confirming she had a plan and had already contacted the media. Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan then executed their plan. Lin Yang met Jia Luxin at a coffee shop and sarcastically questioned her tactics of hiring photographers and smearing their names.
She brazenly offered to sell Lu Zhengan to her for 100 million yuan, questioning if Jia Luxin could afford him. Lin Yang warned that her "bullets"—the candid photos—were unconvincing and that as someone with nothing to lose, she wasn't afraid of a fight with the high-profile Jia Luxin. After the meeting, Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan put on a show for Jia Luxin, who was watching from inside.
They acted intimately, with Lin Yang playfully applying her lipstick to Lu Zhengan's lips. This was all a setup; Yao Dan had been secretly recording Jia Luxin from a nearby table since she arrived. After Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan left, Yao Dan confronted Jia Luxin, replaying the recording of her threat to ruin Lu Zhengan and warning that the video would be released if she caused more trouble.
Later, Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan were summoned to Yunlang Music for a meeting. There, Ma Le and Mr. Hua presented a new marketing proposal. After asking Lin Yang about her love life and lipstick collection to establish a theme, Mr. Hua introduced the concept "Love between lips, love in life," shifting from a generic "heartthrob" to a personal "exclusive lover" angle.
Ma Le then narrated their "childhood friend romance," embellishing it with details of Lu Zhengan's secret devotion: practicing basketball because of her crush, learning to cook for her, and pursuing music because she said it brought happiness. He concluded that true love is often right beside you. The pitch was for a new "exclusive lipstick," a symbol of this unique love story. Lin Yang was stunned to learn Lu Zhengan had loved her since he was fifteen.
Ma Le revealed the story was compiled from intel from all their friends, with Li Tian writing the narrative and developing the entire marketing plan. Mr. Hua stressed that since the story was true, they should be completely transparent, as this authenticity would resonate powerfully with the audience.
Episode 27 Recap
A new marketing strategy for lipstick was devised, aiming to appeal to the audience for love stories with its concept of "one lipstick for one couple," featuring unique colors for unique loves. The plan, which involved personal details of Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang, required their approval before being presented to the brand. During the discussion, Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang found the detailed proposal a bit sentimental and too revealing.
Despite this, Lu Zhengan agreed to step forward and give a public explanation, while Lin Yang committed to staying home and not returning to the company, considering it a temporary leave until everything settled. The team decided to take a gamble on the bold plan. Before handing over the scheme, Li Tian made a condition: she wanted to meet Lu Zhengan alone.
Lu Zhengan met with Li Tian to thank her for her efforts and for her past, albeit misplaced, affection. Li Tian joked that she had earned the meeting on her own merits and that his prior intention to go public made her hard work seem redundant. She then revealed that sorting through their stories didn't sadden her; instead, she felt envious of their relationship and was certain she no longer harbored feelings for him.
She insisted her help stemmed purely from her kind nature. They playfully teased each other, with Li Tian joking about his lack of a sense of security and expressing relief that he loved Lin Yang, whom she described as a tough woman who wouldn't be a pushover. Later, Lu Zhengan held a press conference to address the rumors about him living with an "older woman." He clarified that Lin Yang was indeed his colleague, but more importantly, his girlfriend.
He revealed that they had known each other since birth, were neighbors for six years, and he had pursued her for nearly a decade before she finally accepted him. He proudly introduced her as Lin Yang, the project director of Ruiye Advertising Agency. The announcement shocked many, but his parents and relatives were overjoyed, lamenting that they hadn't gotten together sooner.
Lin Yang, while at home scrolling through negative comments online, received a call from Lu Zhengan telling her to head to the pub, where Cao Ling and Yao Dan were waiting. Lin Yang painstakingly styled herself, arriving in an overtly glamorous outfit that immediately drew teasing criticism from her friends, who likened her appearance to someone on a red carpet. Lin Yang laughingly defended her choice, saying it was for Lu Zhengan’s public image.
Throughout the evening, Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang continued to display their affection, much to their friends' mock exasperation. The pub owner, who proudly declared herself their "top couple fan" and a "witness" to their journey, asked for a photo with them. She informed them that she would be closing the pub in two months to return to her original profession.
The topic of Li Tian came up, and Yao Dan and Cao Ling confessed they initially suspected her of trying to sabotage the couple, now regretting their judgmental thoughts. Meanwhile, Li Tian met with Mr. Hua. With public attention soaring and reviews positive, she expressed her desire to study marketing abroad.
She requested Mr. Hua's help with tuition and persuading her sister, explaining that she felt she had learned nothing during the four years she spent pursuing Lu Zhengan and needed a fresh start. She promised to return to Ruiye after her studies to become his capable assistant. Mr. Hua agreed, viewing it as a worthwhile investment. Soon after, Li Tian received a thank-you message from Lin Yang, prompting her to change Lin Yang’s contact name on her phone.
Yao Dan and Cao Ling then sternly advised Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang that with their relationship now public, there was no turning back. Lu Zhengan reaffirmed his unwavering commitment, stating that while anything else might change, Lin Yang would always be his girlfriend. After their pub dinner, the three women headed to a KTV.
Lu Zhengan quietly observed them, occasionally making lighthearted remarks about their singing and teasing them about their age by playing songs by a "rookie" artist they didn't recognize. Ma Le arrived late and, despite jokes about him being "even older," joined in with enthusiasm. As the night concluded, Ma Le offered to drive Cao Ling home. Yao Dan mentioned her husband was picking her up, leaving Lu Zhengan and Lin Yang to enjoy their time together.
Walking home, Ma Le confided in Cao Ling that he was no longer pursuing grand, unrealistic business ventures and was content with his current, stable work. He subtly hinted at his desire for a companion, sharing that his mother hoped he would find a "caring person," even if she had a child, assuring Cao Ling he would treat any child as his own. Ma Le admitted he had never been married and had few romantic relationships.
Cao Ling, recalling her own past mistake of marrying the wrong person, told him he didn't need to explain himself, as she would discover what kind of person he was through their future interactions. Excited, Ma Le boasted about his domestic skills and offered to cook for her sometime. Later, Lin Yang asked Lu Zhengan why he had fallen for her when he was fifteen, as she couldn't recall any interaction between them then.
Lu Zhengan smiled mysteriously and said he would take her somewhere. On the way, he pulled over and urged a fearful Lin Yang to drive, as she hadn’t driven since getting her license. He knelt to tie her shoelace, reassuring her that he would be right there with her until she gained confidence. When Lin Yang wondered what would happen if she never learned, Lu Zhengan responded, "Then I will be your chauffeur forever."
He reflected that his life, once a boring drama, had transformed into a romantic one with her as the lead. Meanwhile, before leaving for school, Li Tian expressed her ambition to one day surpass most people at their company. Yao Dan and Bai Luo Cheng tried to temper her enthusiasm with their jaded experience, but Li Tian playfully dismissed their "old people's words."
At home, Lin Yang, a workaholic, found herself going stir-crazy from inactivity and realized she could never be a full-time housewife. Lu Zhengan was working day and night, determined to prove himself to everyone. While her friends and boyfriend were busy handling the aftermath of the announcement, Lin Yang felt like a "transparent person," simply trying to stay out of sight. Having always harbored complaints about the world, she suddenly found herself cut off from it. To her surprise, all her grievances turned into a deep yearning, and she realized how profoundly she loved being a part of it.
Episode 28 Recap
When Lu Zhengan was fifteen, his father took him back to their old neighborhood. Eagerly, Lu Zhengan rushed to Lin Yang's house upon arrival, only to learn she was out with classmates. Lu Zhengan's mother couldn't join that evening due to a busy restaurant. The three parents—Lu Zhengan's father and Lin Yang's parents—gathered, reminiscing about a long-standing joke they had shared: if they had a boy and a girl, they would set them up.
Lin Yang's mother had taken this idea quite seriously, especially when Lin Yang was four. They found the gender was right but the birth order was reversed. They lamented the missed opportunity, with Lin Yang's father expressing regret over the "lost son-in-law." Later, Lu Zhengan waited outside for Lin Yang. When she returned home, shyly accompanied by a boy, Lu Zhengan immediately emerged and called out "Wifey!"
In a voiceover, Lu Zhengan explained that this act not only ruined what was believed to be Lin Yang's first love but also successfully prevented any further puppy loves. From that day on, he began calling her "Wifey," believing it would ensure no one could ever take her away from him. Some time later, Lin Yang, heavily disguised, left her home.
Her mother called, pressing for an update on her and Lu Zhengan's relationship and stressing that time waits for no one. Lin Yang quickly hung up, only for Xie Nanke to appear moments later. The two went to a cafe, where Lin Yang expressed relief to finally be out, feeling so suffocated from being home that she felt "pregnant."
She confided in Xie Nanke that she had mistakenly thought she enjoyed being alone but now realized she was merely used to it. Lin Yang then vented her frustrations about being thrust into the public eye, losing projects, and enduring online criticism. She insisted that only a "mature woman" like her, who had weathered great storms, could handle such pressure. Xie Nanke admired her, acknowledging her significant sacrifices. Lin Yang, however, countered that she had "gained more than I lost."
As Xie Nanke left for a client meeting, Lin Yang's plans were upended by a call from Bai Luocheng, who excitedly informed her that the famous idol Xi Song, reportedly a friend of Lu Zhengan's, was at a rehearsal for an upcoming event. Lin Yang immediately demanded the address. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan saw Bai Luocheng waiting for Lin Yang and assumed she was preparing a surprise for him.
His face fell when Bai Luocheng revealed Lin Yang was coming to see Xi Song, making Lu Zhengan feel he was in trouble. Across town, Cao Ling's ex-husband, Xiao Zhe, caused a commotion at the company, loudly demanding to see her. Having been warned by Li Tian, Yao Dan tried to lead him away but they ran into Cao Ling herself. Lin Yang, hearing that Xiao Zhe was at the office, instructed her driver to turn back.
Xiao Zhe was there to demand money, but Cao Ling, no longer afraid, boldly announced her past marriage and child to her colleagues. She reminded him that she owed him nothing, as he had borrowed 350,000 yuan from her since their divorce. Yao Dan added that Xiao Zhe had also taken 20,000 yuan from Lin Yang. Enraged, Cao Ling slapped Xiao Zhe. When he lunged at her, colleagues intervened.
Cao Ling stared him down, chillingly warning him never to harass her again: "I've died once, so you'd better not provoke me. Otherwise, I'll die with you." Lin Yang arrived just as the chaotic scene ended. Cao Ling thanked her and Yao Dan for their support and showed them her new phone wallpaper: a photo of her and her daughter, Tong Tong.
Cao Ling explained she was tired of pretending and hiding for her daughter's sake; she now realized she needed to be a strong role model and live as her daughter's entire world. Upon hearing Lin Yang was heading to see Xi Song, Yao Dan and Cao Ling abandoned their work and frantically rushed to join her. At the venue, Lu Zhengan desperately stalled Xi Song, insisting the "finale" could wait.
When the three women finally arrived, Lu Zhengan stepped forward to greet them, but they completely ignored him, rushing straight to Xi Song. They showered the idol with compliments, requested tour tickets, and eagerly posed for a group photo, which a good-humored Lu Zhengan helped them take. Only after their fan moment was over did Xi Song finally get to leave for his flight.
On the way home, a thrilled Lin Yang relentlessly questioned Lu Zhengan about how he knew Xi Song. He explained they were both from Qiuyin Town and were both so outstanding in the music field that it was natural for them to know each other. Admitting to being a "fangirl" at heart, Lin Yang joked that this was precisely why she was so drawn to him.
She then clarified that her excitement wasn't just about meeting an idol, but about the profound realization that at her age, she could still feel the heart-throbbing excitement of a young girl. Lu Zhengan proudly claimed credit, stating he was the one who "spoiled her into a little girl." He then announced he was going home with her, confessing he had missed her too much to be apart any longer.
Once home, after showering, Lu Zhengan gently pulled a stray hair from Lin Yang's head. Seeing it was a gray hair, Lin Yang burst into tears. A flustered Lu Zhengan desperately tried to comfort her, promising to do anything, even dye his own hair white, if she would stop crying. Lin Yang immediately seized the opportunity and demanded he call her "sister."
When he hesitated, she threatened to cry again, so he swiftly scooped her up and carried her into the bedroom. There, Lin Yang confessed her anxieties: she would get gray hair and wrinkles before him, might develop dementia and forget him, and would likely pass away first. Lu Zhengan gently confirmed she already had wrinkles, and explained he had "no choice" but to love her, because "you happen to be the one who's older."
He promised that if she ever forgot him, he would simply court her all over again, and if she went to heaven before him, he would find her there to tell her everything she missed. He vowed to always stay with her. Then, he softly called her "Sister." Lin Yang remarked that their story was so sweet, it must be leading to hardship, as is common in dramas. Lu Zhengan countered that they would defy such tropes. He concluded, "From the moment my heart first stirred to when my temples turn gray, it will always be you. Thank God it's you. I love you."
Episode 29 (Ending) Recap
Upon arriving at Lin Yang's house for vacation, Lu Zhengan found her parents absent. Lin Yang had just finished showering and was casually drying her hair, a sight that stirred his heart. Lu Zhengan repeatedly called her "Wifey," much to Lin Yang's annoyance. He noticed a sticker on her shoulder, and she explained it was to cover an "ugly" scar she claimed was his fault.
She then jokingly stated that if she couldn't get married in the future, he would be responsible. Lu Zhengan immediately offered to marry her, but Lin Yang clarified she only meant he should support her in her old age. As Lu Zhengan helped clean the area around the scar, Lin Yang's face turned red, though she blamed it on the heat.
For Lu Zhengan, that summer, a time Lin Yang barely remembered, created an indelible memory, including the unforgettable promise of "I'll marry you" and a profound feeling of excitement. Later, at Lu Zhengan's new song release concert, Lin Yang, along with her friends Yao Dan and Cao Ling, arrived to find the venue dominated by signs for pop star Xi Song.
Frustrated that the night wasn't solely focused on her "An An," she rallied her friends to support Lu Zhengan, proudly pointing to the banners they had brought. Lu Zhengan's performance electrified the crowd. As he sang a love song, a video montage of him and Lin Yang played on the big screen, a heartfelt tribute to their journey.
Watching the dazzling stage, Lin Yang's feelings shifted from a sense of elderly pride or self-consciousness to a profound warmth, acknowledging that Lu Zhengan had truly brought light into her heart. During the concert's encore, Xi Song appeared on stage, eliciting a roar from the audience. As Lin Yang watched from the edge of the crowd, Lu Zhengan suddenly appeared beside her, explaining it was "halftime." Worried about being discovered, she urged him to return to the stage.
Ignoring her protests, Lu Zhengan took out a ring and proposed, while on stage, Xi Song's music quietly transitioned into a wedding march. Lu Zhengan vowed not to return to the stage if she didn't accept, even threatening to let the show fail. After a brief moment of surprise, Lin Yang accepted his proposal. Gazing at her lovingly, Lu Zhengan called her "Wifey" again, confirming that from then on, she would truly be his wife.
They then shared a passionate embrace. Four years later, life had settled into new rhythms. Li Miaomiao's husband was enjoying his role as a "stay-at-home husband," a luxury afforded by Lin Yang's hard work at the company. Li Miaomiao mentioned that Li Tian, having received a school offer, wouldn't be returning for at least two years and had found a boyfriend. Meanwhile, Xie Nanke, while on a blind date, smiled brightly upon receiving a photo from Li Tian.
Cao Ling and Ma Le had successfully taken over the small bistro, with Ma Le now happily working there. Lin Yang, busy with her work, received a call from Lu Zhengan's mother, who was eager for them to come home for the holidays. In the back seat of Lin Yang's car, her son, Lu Yu Lin, woke up, excited at the prospect of seeing his father.
Lu Zhengan, who had transitioned into a behind-the-scenes producer, transformed from his professional persona into a tender husband the moment Lin Yang called. Upon arriving, he affectionately held Lu Yu Lin, whom Lin Yang had dressed up like a girl, teasingly calling him his "daughter." The family of three then happily headed home. At their bistro, friends gathered to celebrate Cao Ling's new venture.
Yao Dan teased Ma Le for forgoing his chairman position to work for Cao Ling and urged them to finally get married. Supported by Lu Zhengan, who affirmed Ma Le's sincerity, Cao Ling finally agreed. Overwhelmed with emotion, Ma Le, forty-two, toasted everyone, expressing his joy at finding both his favorite job and the person he loved, believing it was "not too late." Cao Ling echoed this, stating that age brought "more choices," not "limitations."
Lin Yang shared that she met Lu Zhengan at the "most appropriate age," feeling that she wasn't "robbing the cradle." Amidst the heartfelt exchanges, Yao Dan, thirty-seven, revealed her own surprising news: she was going to be a mother, leading to a wave of excited congratulations.
In the final scene, eight-year-old Cao Xin Tong playfully tried to make three-year-old Lu Yu Lin call her "sister," but he insisted on calling her by her full name until their argument culminated in a sweet declaration of "I love you" from him. Through the years, from their youthful beginnings to their mature present, Lin Yang and Lu Zhengan remained steadfast companions, crafting their unique love story together.
