My Dear Destiny Episode 33 Recap
> My Dear Destiny Recap
Qiqi lamented that she and Lv Ao were now like "rats crossing the street" due to being wanted by the authorities, forcing them to travel under the cover of night. A dog's bark startled Qiqi, making her jump, to which Lv Ao teased her about her small courage, especially considering her intention to go to Xueyin Village alone. They came across a wonton stall. They only had enough money for two bowls, but Qiqi accidentally broke hers.
Lv Ao gave her his bowl. The stall owner, seeing their predicament, gave them another bowl. Qiqi claimed they were ill and were heading to Cangwu Mountain to find a renowned physician. The owner informed them that all the villagers in that area had moved away eighteen years prior. She recounted a tale of outsiders entering the mountains, angering the mountain god, which led to incessant cloudy weather and frequent floods, forcing the inhabitants to abandon their homes.
As morning dawned, Lv Ao and Qiqi sought an inn to rest, but their purses were empty. Suddenly, the same group of bandits who had tried to capture Qiqi earlier appeared, demanding their money and threatening to turn them over to the authorities. Lv Ao swiftly disarmed and subdued them, taking their money. They found an inn and rented a room. Lv Ao wanted to share a bed, but Qiqi resisted, still uncomfortable with her altered appearance.
Qiqi, lamenting their predicament, asked Lv Ao if he truly intended to return to power. She had heard villagers speaking of King Ji's impending ascension, suggesting that if he did not return soon, he might lose his chance. Lv Ao, however, asserted his desire to remain with her, fearing for his life if he returned to court now. He revealed that Lv Che had long been secretly colluding with barbarians and forming factions, suggesting he was behind recent events.
Later, as Qiqi still fretted over her appearance, Lv Ao reassured her, reaffirming his love and commitment regardless of her looks. Elsewhere, Ling received a letter from her father, Yihe, in the Beicang Tribe, stating his decision to send envoys to Yi Qi for the new king's coronation. The letter confirmed that Beicang intended to seek peace with Yi Qi.
Though Ling understood this was likely the most pragmatic decision for Beicang, she was deeply distressed, remembering her brother's tragic death at the hands of Yi Qi. The thought of not avenging him, and instead seeking peace with their enemies, pained her greatly. Meanwhile, Lv Che, nearing his ascension to the throne, had yet to locate Ugly Lady, and ordered his men to continue their diligent search.
Despite the arduous journey through mountains and rivers, Lv Ao remained committed to accompanying Qiqi to Xueyin Village, the location marked on her map. They eventually found what appeared to be the entrance, a cave filled with strange winds and swirling mist. Lv Ao led Qiqi through it, emerging into a wide-open area dotted with dilapidated houses. To their surprise, there was no one in sight.
Lv Ao observed signs suggesting a hasty, temporary evacuation rather than permanent abandonment, noting money bags left behind and prepared meals still in the houses, as if the villagers had vanished in an instant. On one of the walls, Qiqi discovered ancient writings detailing the village's tragic past. It explained that many years ago, a devastating plague and rampant hunger had claimed the lives of numerous villagers and their loved ones.
The few who survived were afflicted with a curse, yet this curse also bestowed upon them a unique, self-healing blood. This special ability, however, turned them into targets, as they were aggressively hunted and captured to be used as living medicine. San Floral suspected that the Beicang Tribe was being deceptive, believing that Yihe's offer of peace was merely a tactic to buy time.
She advised Lv Che to feign acceptance of their peace offer to lower their guard, creating an opportunity to launch a decisive attack and conquer the entire Beicang region. In Xueyin Village, Lv Ao discovered barbarian knives scattered in one of the houses, indicating that the Beicang Tribe had been there. He pondered what dark events had transpired. Qiqi then stumbled upon a discarded earring, and upon touching it, experienced a vivid, almost magical vision of the past.
She saw her mother, the former leader of Xueyin Village, confronting foreign raiders. Determined not to let her people lose their freedom, her mother utilized a powerful puppet art taught by the Witch Tribe's master. With Luo Jiuchen's help, she entrusted her infant daughter, Qiqi, to him to be taken to Wuxun Island. Having secured her daughter's escape, Qiqi's mother then led all her remaining villagers in a final, defiant stand, choosing to perish alongside their captors rather than surrender. In the vision, Qiqi absorbed a surge of energy and briefly reverted to her original appearance.
