My Calorie Boy Episode 27 Recap
> My Calorie Boy Recap
During the Chinese New Year, Kang Jiawei celebrates at Xu Jingjing's home, while Gao Zhan's mother also returns. During the New Year's Eve dinner, Kang Jiawei receives a video call from his father, who claims to be working overtime for triple pay. He abruptly ends the call, leaving Kang Jiawei unaware of his true condition. In reality, Kang Jiawei's parents are at the hospital, where his mother reminisces about how quickly their son has grown up.
Gao Zhan's mother tells him she is taking him somewhere important the next day. Along with Ni Dapeng and his father, they visit the memorial for Gao Zhan's father. Giving the family a moment of privacy, Ni Dapeng and his father step aside. Gao Zhan's mother speaks to her late husband, telling him of their son's determination to attend the Public Security University, a childhood promise made to him.
She asks for his blessing, and Gao Zhan vows not to disappoint his parents. Meanwhile, the class's former homeroom teacher, Ms. Chen, focuses on writing her script, entrusting Mr. Zhao to look after the students. As the college entrance examination nears, the students prepare intensely, studying even during P. E. class. Seeing their dedication, Mr. Zhao allows them to continue. Under immense pressure, many students suffer from stress-related symptoms like hair loss and acne.
Ni Dapeng introduces a high-caffeine gum, claiming it will help them stay awake. The students eagerly consume it, ignoring the packaging's warning to limit intake. During the next class, several students feel unwell with racing hearts and nausea. Xu Jingjing faints and is rushed to the hospital with others. Mr. Zhao informs a concerned Ms. Chen that the students overdosed on the gum. Kang Jiawei stays by Xu Jingjing's side at the hospital.
When he briefly returns home, he is surprised to find his mother has come back. The secret of his father's illness is finally revealed, and Kang Jiawei rushes to the hospital, heartbroken to see his father looking frail. His father suggests he and his mother move back home, but Kang Jiawei, hurt and frustrated at being kept in the dark, refuses.
He insists on waiting for his father to recover so they can travel and eat around the world together, adamantly believing he will get better. As Kang Jiawei and his mother prepare to move out of Xu Jingjing's home, her parents express how much they will miss him and reassure him that his father's surgery will be a success. Xu Jingjing awkwardly offers her own words of comfort.
Unexpectedly, Ms. Chen returns to the school, having withdrawn from her screenwriting project. She tells a production executive that while she has a lifetime to pursue her dream, her students' future is her priority now. That Saturday, Ms. Chen takes the class on an outing to a lake to help them relax. While most enjoy the break, Kang Jiawei sits alone, worried about his father.
Xu Jingjing goes to comfort him, reassuring him that his father will be fine before bringing him back to the group. Ms. Chen uses the day to help the students adjust their mindsets, explaining that they need the courage to overcome pressure, not be defeated by it, citing the caffeine gum incident as a warning. Inspired by her sacrifice, the students vow not to let her down, chanting motivational slogans.
Later, a hesitant Gao Zhan prepares to check his Public Security University exam results online. Xu Jingjing helps him and discovers that he has ranked first overall. She congratulates him, envious that he can attend his dream university, but he remains modest, worried that his academic course scores might not be high enough. Xu Jingjing playfully teases him that excessive humility can seem like arrogance.
Gao Zhan also confirms that he has reconciled with his mother, realizing that parents ultimately respect their children's choices. With only a few months left until the exam, they promise to work hard together.
