Synopsis
Seventeen-year-old Cheng Miaomiao and sixteen-year-old Cheng Yayao were born at the Lin Qi Oilfield Extraction Factory No. 1, where their family has worked for three generations. Their father, Cheng Pengfei, is an otolaryngologist, and their mother, Jia Daiyu, works in the vehicle fleet logistics. The family relocated from the northwest to the coastal base of He Ping Town.
In the late 1990s, Cheng Miaomiao, eager to explore the outside world, planned an adventure to "welcome Hong Kong's return" during the summer vacation of her first year of high school. She dragged her childhood friend Li Si and her best friend Hu Qiumin along, but their plans hit a snag. Meanwhile, her younger brother Cheng Yayao, aged sixteen, went to the back mountain for archaeology and was almost mistaken for a tomb raider.
Their mother, Jia Daiyu, is quite troubled by these issues, and the siblings' high school life begins in chaos. Cheng Miaomiao faces a crisis in her relationship with Li Si, while Cheng Yayao stands up to defend Yuan Shanqing, the daughter of a wanted criminal who has transferred to his class, against hostility from all sides. Through these changes, the children experience growth.
