My Calorie Boy Episode 25 Recap
> My Calorie Boy Recap
Kang Jiawei, startled by Jingjing at a breakfast spot, lamented about his new housekeeper from Zigong, Sichuan. He complained that her cooking was so laden with chili that he suspected her blood was made of chili oil, forcing him to subsist on takeout. At school, Gao Zhan announced he was moving back to the window seat, which he felt suited him better, and formally entrusted Jingjing's tutoring to Kang Jiawei.
After school, Jingjing came home to a delicious aroma and was shocked to find her mother, Mrs. Xu, cooking. Jingjing deemed this sight "unscientific," but her mother revealed she was using convenient pre-made meals she had bought on sale, emphasizing they were organic and preservative-free. The next day, Jingjing brought several of these semi-finished dishes, including Yuxiang shredded pork and curry chicken, to Kang Jiawei, telling him to simply reheat them.
He offered to pay, but Jingjing suggested he tutor her in exchange, which he accepted as his duty. Kang Jiawei mentioned his father was on a business trip, a common occurrence. Unbeknownst to him, his father, Mr. Kang, was in the hospital with late-stage liver cancer. Dr. Zhou informed Mr. Kang that he would need constant family support post-surgery, but Mr. Kang insisted on hiring a caregiver to avoid burdening his son.
Anxious about the upcoming unified arts exam, Wang Jiayao shared a superstition with Jingjing about a 300-year-old "Wish Tree" at Fuxing University; hanging one's name on it, especially high up, was rumored to guarantee admission. That evening, Kang Jiawei called Jingjing for help after getting stuck in the tree. He admitted he climbed it for her, confessing his wish for them to attend the same university.
He then nervously asked if they could still be together if he failed to get into Fuxing. Jingjing immediately agreed, envisioning a future where they could watch movies, explore Wuxi's food scene, listen to music, and he could model for her drawings. A kind-hearted elderly man helped them down with a ladder. On the morning of the exam, Jingjing’s parents prepared a lucky breakfast to encourage her.
At the venue, Kang Jiawei and Ni Dapeng performed a good-luck ritual for Jingjing and Wang Jiayao. While Jingjing was in the restroom, Wang Jiayao overheard a student plotting to sabotage others by smearing paint on the back of their canvases, saying, "If I can't get in, no one else can." The plot unsettled Wang Jiayao, causing her to lose focus and repeatedly glance at Jingjing's artwork during the exam.
Afterward, a distraught Wang Jiayao left alone, telling a concerned Ni Dapeng that she had "ruined Xu Jingjing." They rushed back to the venue, where an instructor informed them the vandalism had been discovered. The three culprits were caught, their qualifications revoked, and the instructor commended Wang Jiayao for her courage. Meanwhile, Xiong Shuai, a student-athlete, felt anxious about his recruitment test, intimidated by the competition from provincial teams, but his coach encouraged him.
Later, Kang Jiawei's father called from the hospital. When Kang Jiawei explained he fired the housekeeper because Jingjing was providing his meals, Mr. Kang heard a nurse's voice in the background. Kang Jiawei jokingly asked if his father was secretly dating, prompting Mr. Kang to lie that he was in a meeting and would be home in about a month.
That night, Jingjing’s mother caught her taking food from the fridge and, upon learning it was for Kang Jiawei, allowed her to take the rest but wondered how long the arrangement could continue. Separately, Jingjing's friend, a dancer also named Xu Jingjing, was dejected after her applications to three management companies were met with silence. She decided to give up and focus on her dance academy exam.
Later, she overheard her mother, Ms. Liu, on the phone with a management company. She discovered her mother had been ignoring their previous calls about a second interview. When her mother was momentarily distracted, Xu Jingjing (the dancer) seized the phone and accepted the interview offer, which was scheduled for the same day as her dance exam.
She gathered her friends—Jingjing, Kang Jiawei, and Gao Zhan—to devise a plan to distract Ms. Liu, declaring she had long since given up on ballet and would not regret her choice. The plan was to have Jingjing's parents leave for a movie, then have Jingjing feign acute appendicitis, forcing Ms. Liu to take her to the hospital. On the designated day, the plan hit a snag when Jingjing’s parents returned home after selling their movie tickets.
Thinking fast, Kang Jiawei and Gao Zhan told Jingjing to go to the exam venue and fake her illness there, while they improvised at her house. Jingjing rushed to the venue to "support" her friend, then collapsed with feigned lower-right abdominal pain. Meanwhile, the boys distracted Jingjing's parents with a match-three game and a fake leaking toilet, allowing Kang Jiawei to secretly block Ms. Liu's number on their phones.
Unable to contact Jingjing’s parents, Ms. Liu had no choice but to take the seemingly very ill Jingjing to the hospital, allowing Xu Jingjing (the dancer) to attend her interview. At the hospital, the doctor found no issues with Jingjing and prescribed painkillers. At her interview, Xu Jingjing (the dancer) impressed the panel with her confidence and ambition to become a pop idol with a strong academic background. While still at the hospital, Jingjing coincidentally saw Mr. Kang being pushed in a wheelchair.
