To relieve the pressure of possibly being exposed for his office romance, Qian Heng lit incense and played music to relax. Bao Rui and Yu Fei felt Qian Heng was acting strangely but didn’t say anything seeing him meditating. Lin Fengjuan confided in Cheng Yao about her experience: she had been married to A Min for years, had a good relationship but no children. At a class reunion, Lin Fengjuan got drunk.

Her high school crush, Lu Jian, took her to a hotel and forced himself on her. A month later, Lin Fengjuan discovered she was pregnant but didn’t dare tell A Min. Eventually, the truth came out. After the child was born, A Min found out the child wasn’t his and left home. Soon after, Lin Fengjuan received divorce papers. After the divorce, she raised the child alone.

To make matters worse, the child was diagnosed with a congenital disease that required expensive treatment. Lin Fengjuan sought out Lu Jian, but he was preparing for marriage and completely denied having anything to do with her. Qian Heng brought home a book on family law case templates for Cheng Yao to use as a reference. Unexpectedly, he also brought back a book on workplace romances.

When Cheng Yao returned home and flipped through the books, she discovered the secret on Qian Heng’s bookshelf and quietly hid the book. After finishing a family gathering and returning home, Qian Heng searched everywhere for the book, suspecting that Cheng Yao had moved it. Qian Heng took on a new case requiring collaboration in another city. Before leaving, he found out his co-counsel was Liang Yiran.

According to Bao Rui, Liang Yiran was the “female version of Qian Heng” and a leader in the industry. She had once pursued Qian Heng. When the two were discussing the case, Bao Rui snapped a photo and sent it to the "Riches and Glory" group chat. Qian Heng felt a little guilty, afraid Cheng Yao would see it and overthink. Wu Jun tried to meet Cheng Xi but couldn’t reach her by phone.

He checked her location and found her in a remote suburb. Fearing Deng Ming might be involved again, he took a driver and rushed over. When they arrived at the location, they heard Cheng Xi screaming. Without thinking, Wu Jun barged into a house. Cheng Xi wasn’t kidnapped but was trying to avoid a mouse. Wu Jun had wanted to play the hero but ended up hiding behind Cheng Xi the whole time. Cheng Xi couldn’t help laughing.

She always knew Wu Jun was timid, but he had gone into a suburban house at night alone for her, which showed how much he cared. On the way back, Cheng Xi accepted Wu Jun’s pursuit. The next day, she drove to pick him up for a thank-you meal. Wu Jun was overjoyed and immediately ran to Qian Heng’s office to show off. The trial for Lin Fengjuan’s case began. Lu Jian hired Deng Ming as his defense lawyer.

Deng Ming completely dismissed Cheng Yao, thinking victory was certain. After the trial began, Lu Jian submitted proof that he had azoospermia and couldn’t possibly have fathered a child. Cheng Yao was caught off guard, not expecting Deng Ming to be so cunning, and was momentarily speechless. Enraged, Lin Fengjuan tore up Lu Jian’s forged medical report and was accused of destroying evidence, leaving her in a disadvantageous position.

Cheng Yao felt disappointed—she had underestimated Deng Ming, or rather, underestimated how despicable he could be. She suffered due to the fake evidence but decided to use it as a breakthrough. She researched the condition of anorchia online and called a doctor for further inquiry. During the call, Qian Heng turned on the apartment surveillance camera and overheard the conversation.

He mistakenly thought Cheng Yao was seeking medical help on his behalf and quickly reassured her that he had no reproductive issues. Worried she’d misunderstand the photo, he took the initiative to explain that the woman in the picture was the co-counsel for a case and that he only found out about it before departure. If Cheng Yao didn’t like him partnering with other women, he’d refuse such cases in the future.

Seeing Qian Heng’s serious expression, Cheng Yao found him adorable—she hadn’t even thought that far. Qian Heng added that because he cared too much about her, he didn’t want anything to come between them.
