As the competition drew near, Nan Xi was deeply engrossed in his artwork, meticulously cleaning wood pieces that transformed from decaying scraps into something extraordinary under his touch. His friends, Hao Tian and Panghu, served as his biggest supporters, diligently assisting him. To express her gratitude, Xia Rui prepared a generous spread of tea and snacks, explaining the large quantity was for Nan Xi to share with his helpful roommates.

Confident in Nan Xi's victory, Hao Tian and Panghu joked about how they should be credited for their help. One evening, a sudden power outage plunged the area into darkness, startling Xia Rui, who was showering. Her cry alerted Nan Xi, leading to an awkward encounter where he repeatedly insisted he "didn't see anything" to a flustered Xia Rui. They sat far apart on the sofa, a palpable tension between them.

Noticing Xia Rui's wet hair, Nan Xi gently took a towel and began to dry it for her. Xia Rui remarked that his tender care reminded her of her grandmother, making her feel profoundly at ease. As a comfortable silence enveloped them, they instinctively leaned closer, their lips almost meeting. However, at that precise moment, the electricity returned. The sudden light shattered the intimate atmosphere, and a mortified Xia Rui quickly retreated to her bedroom, internally chastising herself.

Nan Xi, equally flustered, acknowledged the boundary they had almost crossed. The night before the competition, Xia Rui stayed up with Nan Xi to put the finishing touches on his elaborate artwork. Exhausted, they both fell into a deep sleep, waking abruptly at eleven in the morning. Realizing the submission deadline was noon, panic set in.

Nan Xi's piece, a "water flowing table" design that had earned the highest score in the preliminaries, was too large and heavy to move on their own. Xia Rui desperately called a moving company, only to be informed all vehicles were busy. With time rapidly dwindling and the organizers calling to inquire about the missing piece, Xia Rui urgently reached out to Si Bo for assistance. With just minutes to spare, Si Bo arrived with his car.

Together, they managed to transport Nan Xi's artwork to the exhibition hall just as the event was about to begin. At the 18th Binhai University Student's Creative Design Competition, Nan Xi unveiled his piece: a "solid ocean" with two irregularly shaped wood pieces as neighboring islands. Explaining the theme "First Impression," Nan Xi stated that while many consider it fleeting, he believes it can be eternal.

He described the wood pieces, which came from the same tree that had stood for a century, as a symbol of a lasting promise. He acknowledged their flaws, comparing them to people who are born imperfect. However, he argued that when these individuals find each other and embrace, they become complete. During the press conference, when asked about acquisition offers from design companies, Nan Xi firmly stated his work was "not for sale," as it "belongs to Xia Rui."

He explained that "without Xia Rui, there would be no first impression," and to the crowd's delight, publicly declared she was his girlfriend. To thank Si Bo for his crucial assistance, Xia Rui organized a celebratory meal. However, Cheng Erluo, who usually admired Si Bo, displayed unexpected hostility towards him. Earlier, Cheng Erluo had seen Zhao Yishu in Si Bo's car, fueling his fear of losing her.

This fear was compounded by recent events: Zhao Yishu had stopped attending his basketball games, telling him she was "never a basketball fan," and Xia Rui had urged him to look up the "Best Restaurant" online, a place known for romantic confessions, to understand what Zhao Yishu had been trying to tell him during their failed date there.

At the meal, a drunk Cheng Erluo lamented his own shortcomings compared to Nan Xi and urged him to take care of Xia Rui in Italy, though Nan Xi's plans were unconfirmed. As the evening progressed, an intoxicated Cheng Erluo confronted Si Bo, telling him to leave. When Zhao Yishu arrived, Cheng Erluo drunkenly admitted that he was a fool, a label she had given him before.

He loudly and repeatedly confessed, "Zhao Yishu, I like you," insisting it was the truth. He admitted he was sad seeing her with someone else and hurt by her absence from his games. Zhao Yishu pressed him, asking if his declaration stemmed from genuine affection or simply from being unaccustomed to her absence. He replied that he finally understood why she wasn't a basketball fan and wanted to be her "prince," awkwardly asking her to dance.

In turn, Zhao Yishu revealed she had waited for him for years, only to be met with indifference. She explained that just as she had finally decided to move on, he chose to confess. Overwhelmed, she pushed him away, stating she needed time to think. As she left, a desperate Cheng Erluo called out, promising to wait for her.
