Nan Xi reluctantly stepped onto the podium to distribute exam papers, enduring his discomfort for Xia Rui's sake despite having no desire to be the class representative. Mr. Hu then announced that Nan Xi would be the English subject representative, an offer Nan Xi accepted on one condition: that Xia Rui be appointed his vice representative. This arrangement surprised Xia Rui and the rest of the class. Later, Nan Xi approached Xia Rui as she dozed at her desk.
He gently lifted her fringe, revealing a scar on her left forehead. Nan Xi vividly recalled how his childhood friend had gotten a scar on her forehead from stitches after a fight. Seeing it on Xia Rui confirmed his long-held suspicion: he had finally found his "Little Bells" from all those years ago.
At Mr. Yi's coffee shop, Xia Rui complained incessantly about Nan Xi, much to the amusement of Zhao Yishu and Cheng Erluo, who jokingly felt "out of favor." The tense lunch escalated into a heated argument, reinforcing that Xia Rui's choice to live with her grandparents was to escape her mother's overbearing control. Meanwhile, Nan Xi had a session with his psychiatrist, Aunt Lin, who noted his improved mood and acceptance of his new school. Aunt Lin explained to his mother that Nan Xi's social phobia stemmed from a lack of parental companionship and overprotection, and that the incident at his previous school was a minor conflict.
She acknowledged that her help was limited as long as Nan Xi remained in his comfort zone and advised giving him more time. That evening, Xia Rui saw the friend request from 'X' and, mistaking it for Mr. Yi, accepted. " X" (Nan Xi) asked about her opinion of him and suggested they become best friends, an idea she bluntly rejected.
Moments later, a defiant Xia Rui took a call from her mother and rashly promised to score above 90 on the English exam in two weeks. Spurred by this impossible challenge, she shocked her friends by arriving at school forty minutes early the next day to study. Upon arriving, Nan Xi presented Xia Rui with a small wooden box. Later, during lunch, Nan Xi accidentally bumped into Yang Yufei, ruining her clothes.
He reached into his bag before taking off his own school uniform and offering it to her. While Yang Yufei was captivated, Cheng Erluo witnessed the exchange and reported the "breaking news" to Xia Rui, causing her opinion of Nan Xi to plummet further. During class, when a sleepy Xia Rui was called on to read, Nan Xi discreetly dropped his book to point out the correct passage for her. Afterward, Xia Rui complained that long English words were hard to memorize without pictures. Nan Xi took note, planning to create illustrated vocabulary guides to help her.
