After finally getting the rambunctious Chen Hao to sleep, Nan Xi insisted on taking the boy to sleep on the sofa. Later that night, Xia Rui found herself watching Nan Xi sleep and, unable to resist, stole a quick kiss before retreating to her room with a mix of guilt and delight.
The next morning, while Xia Rui was trying to quietly grind coffee, Chen Hao teased her about becoming a "strict wife and a good mother" for Nan Xi's sake. Wanting to keep the precocious boy out of trouble, Xia Rui decided to leave him with Cheng Erluo. Meanwhile, Cheng Erluo approached Zhao Yishu with breakfast, awkwardly relaying health tips he claimed were from Xia Rui.
Their senior and tutor, Tian Rui, mistook them for a couple, commenting on what a handsome match they made. Cheng Erluo's hasty denial annoyed Zhao Yishu. Later, she confronted him, asking if he truly wanted her to find a boyfriend so she would stop bothering him. Utterly oblivious, Cheng Erluo said it was normal for girls to date and that it wouldn't affect their friendship, even encouraging her to keep "bothering" him, which only deepened Zhao Yishu's frustration.
Xia Rui dropped Chen Hao off with Cheng Erluo, but he quickly became distracted by a staring contest. Seizing the opportunity, Chen Hao slipped away and found Nan Xi in the middle of a lecture. Declaring himself Nan Xi's "brother-in-law," Chen Hao demanded Nan Xi spend the day with him. When Nan Xi tried to text Xia Rui, Chen Hao blackmailed him, threatening to accuse Nan Xi of abuse to their parents once his relationship with Xia Rui became public.
He framed his demands as a way for them, as future family, to get acquainted. Nan Xi's first attempt to placate Chen Hao with university coffee was met with disdain. The boy expertly critiqued its lack of aesthetic appeal and poor taste compared to Xia Rui's. Impressed, Nan Xi decided to take him on a tour of local coffee shops. Though Chen Hao complained throughout, he went along with it, preferring the adventure to his homework.
Nan Xi meticulously took notes in a journal as Chen Hao evaluated each cup, noting subtle flavors like blueberry and chocolate, and qualities like purity and fruity sourness. During their tour, they ran into Yang Yufei. She assumed Nan Xi was Xia Rui's boyfriend and expressed her envy. Chen Hao played along, continuing to call Nan Xi "brother-in-law" and even jokingly telling Yang Yufei he would pursue her when he was older.
Elsewhere, Xia Rui found a dejected Zhao Yishu, who confessed her despair over Cheng Erluo's cluelessness. She explained that after numerous hints, she concluded he simply didn't see her romantically and had decided to give up to preserve their friendship. Xia Rui sympathized, calling Cheng Erluo "stupid, dull, and dumb." Her comforting was cut short by a call from her mother, who announced she and Uncle Chen were coming to Binhai that night to pick up Chen Hao.
Panicked, Xia Rui realized Nan Xi's phone was off and Chen Hao was missing, terrified of what would happen if her mother discovered the truth. Xia Rui enlisted Zhao Yishu and Cheng Erluo for a frantic search. They learned from Yang Yufei, who showed them photos Chen Hao had sent, that the pair had been visiting coffee shops. Following the lead, they arrived at a cafe just as Nan Xi and Chen Hao were leaving.
Xia Rui spotted them down the street and called out, but Nan Xi instructed Chen Hao not to look back, and they both broke into a run, successfully evading their pursuers. Later, having made a pact, Chen Hao explained to Nan Xi that while their afternoon adventure was for Xia Rui's benefit, Nan Xi should be careful about revealing his relationship too soon, as a breakup could cause family complications.
Nan Xi confidently stated he wouldn't break up with her, but then amended his words, recalling that TV dramas teach one not to be too certain. Soon after, Xia Rui's mother called for their location. Xia Rui finally found Nan Xi and Chen Hao and directed her family's driver to them. After Chen Hao was safely sent off, a bewildered Cheng Erluo asked Nan Xi about his secretive behavior, but Nan Xi dismissed him.
Cheng Erluo was left wondering why both Xia Rui and Zhao Yishu were annoyed with him. Finally alone with Xia Rui, Nan Xi presented his surprise: a hand-drawn "Coffee Map," the result of his and Chen Hao's extensive tasting adventure, created just for her.
