Love Unexpected Episode 9 Recap
> Love Unexpected Recap
Following his return from the failed negotiation, a furious Zhou Yanxin began to suspect Ke Siyi's motives. His suspicions intensified after Ke Siyi finished a phone call with Wu Dongde, and he confronted her, accusing her of being a commercial spy who had betrayed Xu Nuo. Ke Siyi, who had reluctantly agreed to Wu Dongde’s demand to spy on Xu Nuo in exchange for protecting Kuang Hu, was shaken by Zhou Yanxin's interrogation.
Xu Nuo intervened, expressing his complete trust in Ke Siyi and arguing she had no motive to leak information. He explained that Wu Dongde had hired a professional consulting group capable of analyzing such data on their own. Seeing Xu Nuo’s conviction, Zhou Yanxin playfully threatened Ke Siyi with jail time if she ever betrayed their boss, then quickly assured her it was a joke and that he trusted her as well.
Their conversation was interrupted by a secretary with alarming news: a leak had led to a flood of online reports claiming that star author Mei Hualu had left Hege Group due to Xu Nuo's "exploitation." The articles further predicted that under Xu Nuo's "ruthless leadership," the company was destined to fail. This negative press was already prompting shareholders to call for a meeting. Xu Nuo immediately concluded that Wu Dongde had orchestrated the entire scheme to undermine him.
Later, Ke Siyi was surprised to find an angry Liang Zhixiao at the office, demanding an explanation from Xu Nuo for rejecting his variety show proposal. Ke Siyi tried to dissuade him, explaining Xu Nuo was already dealing with multiple crises, but Liang Zhixiao refused to wait. Xu Nuo granted him three minutes to present his case again. Liang Zhixiao passionately pitched his "Wrestle Girl" show, emphasizing its focus on "women's power" and how combat sports could empower women.
However, Xu Nuo rejected it again, stating that having wrestlers compete in an audition format was unoriginal and no different from other combat competitions, deeming the project a waste of time, money, and resources. After a dejected Liang Zhixiao left, Ke Siyi comforted him, encouraging him not to give up and to remember the "Kuang Hu spirit." The online backlash led to a tense shareholder meeting. Facing their doubts, Xu Nuo took full responsibility for Mei Hualu being poached.
He boldly promised to exceed the company's annual operating goals by the end of the year, stating that if he failed, the board could dismiss him. Listening from outside, Ke Siyi felt a mix of anger and helplessness for Xu Nuo. When she later tried to console him, he dismissed her concerns, insisting he could handle the pressure and telling her to focus on protecting herself.
Still determined to get his show approved, Liang Zhixiao discussed improvements with a colleague, who suggested inviting the popular "Wrestle Goddess," Li Yunzhu, to be the show's ultimate boss. Inspired, Liang Zhixiao arranged a meeting. As Li Yunzhu arrived at Hege Group, she nearly stumbled, and a passing Xu Nuo noticed a familiar handmade bracelet on her wrist, causing his expression to change instantly.
He was reminded of his near-fatal car accident years ago, when a stranger had tied that same lucky bracelet on his wrist, giving him the will to live. He instinctively followed her to a nearby cafe, only to see her laughing intimately with Liang Zhixiao. His heartbreak deepened upon learning that Li Yunzhu and Liang Zhixiao were childhood friends and currently dating. Seeing the intimate exchange between them, Xu Nuo felt the small flicker of hope in his eyes extinguish.
He quietly left without approaching them. When Ke Siyi arrived at the cafe, Li Yunzhu was noticeably cold towards her. Liang Zhixiao formally invited Li Yunzhu to star in the show. Hesitating, Li Yunzhu asked for Ke Siyi's opinion. Ke Siyi advised her not to feel pressured to make sacrifices for Kuang Hu. To everyone's surprise, Li Yunzhu then agreed, but on one condition: Ke Siyi must also participate, representing Kuang Hu to challenge her directly.
Li Yunzhu argued that no one else from Kuang Hu was a worthy opponent, making Ke Siyi's involvement essential. Thrown into turmoil by the memory of her father strictly forbidding her from combat, Ke Siyi said she needed time to think. That night, Ke Siyi cautiously brought up the subject of combat with her father, Li Da, who reacted with explosive anger, forbidding her from ever touching the sport again. The weight of her responsibilities to Kuang Hu became suffocating.
Later, she found Xu Nuo uncharacteristically watching television, with an interview of Li Yunzhu playing on a loop. Ke Siyi sensed a profound joy emanating from him and questioned its source, especially given his usual dislike of female fighters. Xu Nuo explained that from that day on, Li Yunzhu had become a very important person to him.
The next morning, Ke Siyi, exhausted from sensing Xu Nuo's emotional rollercoaster all night, directly asked him if the powerful emotion he felt was "love." Xu Nuo deflected, questioning if she even knew what love felt like. He then took her phone, saw Liang Zhixiao's contact saved as "Brother Zhixiao," and called him, announcing that he had changed his mind about the variety show and wanted to meet.
Delighted, Liang Zhixiao arranged for Li Yunzhu to join them, calling her the "ace" who could seal the deal. On the way to the cafe, Xu Nuo peppered Ke Siyi with questions about Liang Zhixiao's character, asking if he was a good man who could make Li Yunzhu happy. At the cafe, before Liang Zhixiao could make introductions, Xu Nuo cut him off.
Staring intently at Li Yunzhu, he recited her entire combat resume from memory: her age, training history, national championship title, international victories, nickname, fighting style, and her recent signing with Black Dragons to compete in the UFC. After his stunning display, he simply introduced himself. Li Yunzhu, taken aback, remarked to Liang Zhixiao that Xu Nuo seemed both excited and nervous.
