Jinxiu helped Hongning with her painting. Hongning asked how much longer it would take, saying she was already tired from standing and suggested that Jinxiu paint the peach blossoms across from them instead. Jinxiu said he had originally wanted to paint the peach blossoms, but Hongning insisted he paint her—now she didn’t want that anymore. Jinxiu said he was done and asked Hongning to come take a look. Hongning looked and was speechless—it turned out Jinxiu’s painting was terribly ugly.

Kunlun and Lu Yao also went through the painting scenario. Kunlun was very frustrated and didn’t want to paint at all. Lu Yao asked him to paint her, wondering if it was such a burden for him. Jinxiu and Hongning went out for a stroll. Jinxiu said his parents had already arranged a marriage for him. He was already of age but had not married yet, so his family was very anxious.

Jinxiu asked Hongning if she would be willing to marry him. Hongning replied that she was a deity—they had long lifespans and could not be with mortals. Jinxiu asked if she would miss him, if she would be sad not seeing him, if his joys and sorrows would affect her, and if something happened to him, would she risk her life to save him. Hongning said of course she would. Jinxiu then said, in that case, they should get married.

When Jinxiu and Hongning got married, Hongning felt everything was too surreal. She wasn’t sure if Jinxiu truly loved her. Jinxiu said that as long as they loved each other, nothing else mattered. Kunlun and Lu Yao also reached the wedding night scenario. Lu Yao felt it was a bit too much. Kunlun wondered if Jinxiu and Hongning would really consummate the marriage. Lu Yao said no way. Kunlun also knew about this story.

Although Duan Fei and the Water Narcissus were truly in love, there was still a difference between deities and mortals. This was discovered by Taiyi Zhenren. Taiyi Zhenren was the enforcer of divine punishment at that time, and he captured them both and brought them to the Celestial Court. The Water Narcissus said she was willing to strip away her immortal bone and be a demon for all eternity, as long as Taiyi Zhenren would let Duan Fei go.

Jinxiu said deities didn’t concern themselves with such things but still wrote a wish together with her. Jinxiu asked what wish Hongning had made. Hongning didn’t want to say, so Jinxiu tried to peek. To his surprise, the Lantern Deity actually appeared and took both Hongning and Jinxiu’s wishes.

Jinxiu had to return to attend the banquet. Hongning wanted to go with him. Jinxiu brought Hongning up and told her to wait for him there. Hongning overheard someone say Jinxiu was going to marry Lu Yao and said that since Jinxiu had promised her, he couldn’t marry someone else.
