Love Me If You Dare Episode 6 Recap
> Love Me If You Dare Recap
Jian Yao has recently started her new job at an international trade company and moved into a new apartment, which she is diligently decorating. After being transferred to the marketing department, she is introduced to her colleagues by Pei Ze, who serves as her entry-level reception person. Later, Old Zhou informs Jian Yao that a new marketing director, an "airborne" appointee, is moving his office to their floor, supposedly to appear more approachable.
Soon after, Manager Lin Yuxuan, a seemingly serious middle-aged woman and manager of Marketing Department 2, gathers the team for a meeting. Jian Yao, a new business assistant, introduces herself and is in turn introduced to her colleagues, including senior business manager Old Zhou and Mai Chen. During the meeting, the new Marketing Director, Bo Jinyan, makes a surprising entrance, much to Jian Yao's shock as she recognizes him.
Bo Jinyan immediately clarifies that his tenure is temporary, and he expects everyone to simply follow his instructions without attempting to curry favor, promising an "A" evaluation when he leaves. Manager Lin then assigns Jian Yao as Bo Jinyan's temporary secretary, as his permanent one has not yet been hired. Disturbed by this development, Jian Yao confronts Bo Jinyan in his office, demanding he not ruin her first job.
She questions if his presence at the company is merely a cover for a case investigation, which he indirectly confirms. Jian Yao expresses her dismay, fearing that this situation will ruin her professional life and make her appear like a "two-faced spy" to her colleagues after he leaves. Bo Jinyan dismisses her concerns, stating he thought she was willing to help him. Despite her protestations, she reluctantly accepts his instructions to review case files.
Later, during afternoon tea, Bo Jinyan reiterates that this assignment won't take much of her time, comparing her job in "circulation of commodities" to mere "porter" work and boasting about how quickly he solves cases, which Jian Yao vehemently refutes. Bo Jinyan and Jian Yao then meet with Yin Ziqi, the company president. Jian Yao learns that Yin Ziqi is Bo Jinyan's stepsister; their parents divorced and remarried, leading to a familial connection despite having no blood relation.
Yin Ziqi reveals the reason for Bo Jinyan's presence: an employee named Wang Wan Wei allegedly committed suicide by cutting her wrists in her room's bathroom at Hong Ye Resort during a semi-annual report meeting, leaving a suicide note.
Although the police ruled it a suicide with no signs of attack and the family refused an autopsy, Yin Ziqi has been receiving anonymous emails alleging foul play and a company cover-up, claiming one hundred thousand yuan was paid to the family for their silence. Yin Ziqi vehemently denies any company involvement, explaining the payment came from an anonymous overseas account traced to her fiancé, Lin Yiyang.
Yin Ziqi asks Bo Jinyan to investigate and clear the company's and Lin Yiyang's names, stressing that Lin Yiyang has been in Hong Kong and is likely innocent. She also asks Bo Jinyan to ensure Jian Yao's reputation at the company remains untarnished, and that she can continue her job as a normal employee after the investigation, avoiding labels like "workplace detective" or "two-faced white-collar worker."
Bo Jinyan agrees, and Jian Yao, after a moment of consideration, accepts his renewed invitation to be his assistant for the case. Bo Jinyan then surprises Jian Yao by suggesting she decorate his newly rented apartment just like her own, even proposing she move into the apartment he rented upstairs for increased efficiency, reasoning that her skills would free him up for his own work.
Jian Yao firmly rejects the idea, preferring a peaceful environment, a refusal Bo Jinyan dismisses as a "wrong decision." Later, Bo Jinyan analyzes Wang Wan Wei's suicide note. He concludes that the note is authentic, citing its fluent cursive handwriting, consistent flow, and lack of coercion signs (like pen errors or pauses). He notes its use of metaphors like "defeat of the general," "shell," "bottomless pit," and "abyss," as well as repeated phrases such as "Mom, don't be afraid."
He explains that genuine notes, unlike fabricated ones, often contain such stylistic nuances and minor imperfections because truth-tellers do not worry about inconsistencies, unlike liars. This leads him to believe Wang Wan Wei was not coerced and that the note truly reflects her state of mind. With the authenticity confirmed, they decide to investigate the reasons behind Wang Wan Wei's suicide, starting with her background.
At a department dinner, Jian Yao appears distracted, observing her colleagues with suspicion, as if everyone could be a murderer. Old Zhou subtly warns her about Manager Lin's strictness, especially towards pretty girls like Jian Yao. Bo Jinyan calls Jian Yao away from the dinner. They discuss Wang Wan Wei's blog, which Jian Yao notes was deleted. Bo Jinyan reveals he has retrieved the content.
Reviewing the blog entries, they deduce that the "he" Wang Wan Wei often wrote about, describing him with words like "dim light," "clean," and "clear stream," is Mai Chen, whose temperament matches these descriptions, unlike Pei Ze. Bo Jinyan then muses about what metaphor a woman would use to describe him, to which Jian Yao quips, "An arrogant and arrogant Labrador," prompting Bo Jinyan to comment on her less-than-stellar use of metaphors compared to Wang Wan Wei.
