> Love Like White Jade Recap

Jiang Baiyu undergoes a series of tests at Lang Ya Pavilion, overseen by Seventh Senior Sister. The first test requires him to identify Shui Wuxia solely by touch while blindfolded, a test of familiarity between lovers that Jiang Baiyu confidently declares will be no problem. As he touches the hands of several women, Shui Wuxia attempts to subtly guide him, but he misinterprets her movements, believing she's trying to trick him.

He comments that one hand is "dry and not beautiful at all" and another is "plump and round," dismissing them as not Shui Wuxia's. He confidently declares a "slender and lean" hand to be hers. However, upon removing his blindfold, he realizes his mistake and apologizes, vowing to win the next round. The second test involves a three-on-one combat challenge where Jiang Baiyu fights against Shui Wuxia and two others.

He believes this test is to prove his masculinity, thinking he can only pass by defeating Shui Wuxia. Shui Wuxia, though perplexed by her inclusion, decides to go easy on him to let him win. After Jiang Baiyu defeats all three opponents, he proudly asks Seventh Senior Sister if he demonstrated a man's strength. She retorts that while he showed strength, he lacked a man's demeanor, having no emotional intelligence to strike his beloved.

Jiang Baiyu, expecting another round, is informed by Seventh Senior Sister that his test results show he lacks familiarity with his true love, lacks masculine demeanor, is skilled at sophistry, and lacks a sense of propriety. Therefore, there will be no further stages. She then dismisses him angrily. Later, as Jiang Baiyu wanders through the forest, he hears a woman's cries for help.

He discovers a Lang Ya maid who claims to have been bitten by a poisonous snake and is struggling to breathe. Jiang Baiyu, after a quick assessment, asserts it's likely a non-venomous bite needing only cleaning. He then asks if she knows Shui Wuxia and can lead him into Lang Ya Pavilion. The maid, insisting on the severity of her condition, pleads with him to extract the poison.

Jiang Baiyu, not following the usual approach, attempts to forcefully squeeze the "poisoned" blood from her wound. Startled, the maid quickly stops him, revealing her own snakebite antidote, which she promptly consumes. She then agrees to guide him but claims a leg injury prevents her from walking, requiring him to carry her. Jiang Baiyu readily agrees, hoisting her over his shoulder.

Unbeknownst to Jiang Baiyu, this entire encounter is the final stage of the test, observed by Shui Wuxia and Seventh Senior Sister. Shui Wuxia, witnessing his blunt approach, expresses surprise, noting his usual less crude demeanor, and concludes he definitely wouldn't pass this test. Shui Wuxia and Jiang Baiyu are then brought before Pavilion Matron Qiu.

To their surprise, Pavilion Matron Qiu announces that Jiang Baiyu has passed, stating she could discern his true affection for Shui Wuxia throughout the trials. She explains that his misstep in the first stage indicated his respectful and proper conduct towards her. In the second stage, his eagerness to win was to demonstrate his own strength, rather than constantly relying on her protection.

For the third test, when the weak woman threw herself at him, he remained unmoved, exhibiting no improper thoughts or actions. Jiang Tianling, reflecting on the maxim "A gentleman shall take responsibility for his actions," is troubled by his morning with Zhe Zhi. He feels he has compromised her integrity and owes her an answer, but he also struggles with the implication of being bound to her for the rest of his life.

Later, seeing Fang Yuncheng and Qi Delong's charade, Jiang Tianling is moved when Fang Yuncheng states that if he marries Qi Delong, he must be responsible for Qi Delong's father. This spurs Jiang Tianling to finally approach Zhe Zhi, declaring his intent to take responsibility for that night. However, Zhe Zhi firmly rebuffs him and dismisses him.

Meanwhile, Qi Delong tells Fang Yuncheng that she intends to confess the truth to her father and urges Fang Yuncheng to no longer be involved in her family's scheme. Pavilion Matron Qiu later discovers a moldy paper tucked inside the ginseng chest. Recognizing its potential importance, she entrusts it to Shui Wuxia and Jiang Baiyu for restoration. Jiang Baiyu speculates that the paper, found in the same chest the bandits tried to steal, suggests a connection to Ma Rulong. Using techniques that remove mold and fix writing, they carefully restore the paper, which needs to dry overnight. During this time, they share childhood memories.
