Shui Wuxia and Shen Qingli sat on the rooftop where Shui Wuxia initiated a compatibility test with five questions. Despite their different answers to the first four questions, Shui Wuxia found Shen Qingli more interesting than Jiang Baiyu, whom she considered incompatible. Jiang Tianling then called out for Shui Wuxia, prompting Shen Qingli to lead her away. Earlier that day, Qi Delong, having seen a note in Jiang Tianling's book, mistakenly believed he was planning a meeting with her.

She dressed up and waited for him at a pavilion. Jiang Tianling, searching for Shui Wuxia, found Qi Delong at the pavilion and called out "Lady Shui," tapping her shoulder. Realizing Jiang Tianling's efforts were for Shui Wuxia's birthday, Qi Delong felt dejected. Jiang Tianling told her that Fang Yuncheng always put her first and had feelings for her. Upon hearing this, Qi Delong retreated to her room, ignoring Fang Yuncheng's attempts to follow her.

Shen Qingli led Shui Wuxia to a beautiful garden filled with flowers. Remembering the scent of daisies on her, he presented her with a bouquet. Shui Wuxia was deeply touched, explaining that only her brother knew her fondness for daisies and would buy them for her birthday. After his death, no one else remembered, and her birthdays were no longer joyful until now. Shen Qingli promised to learn all her preferences and treat every day as her birthday.

Shui Wuxia then expressed her wish to see his true face. Shen Qingli gently covered her eyes and removed his mask, allowing her to feel his features. They then shared a romantic kiss. The next morning, Shui Wuxia awoke to find Jiang Baiyu by her bedside. He was happy to see her eyesight had improved significantly. Old Madam Jiang, accompanied by A Chang, arrived to bring Shui Wuxia some lycium ruthenicum, meant to aid her recovery.

Seeing the two embracing, Old Madam Jiang was pleased. She quickly handed over the medicine and left, instructing A Chang to prepare for an important event in a few days. Later, Ba Xi discovered that Thousand Horses Hall had received several carts of green vitriol, known as Corpse Decomposer. Suspecting Thousand Horses Hall's involvement in a murder, Jiang Baiyu and Shui Wuxia decided to investigate. They ambushed two henchmen, stole their clothes, and infiltrated Thousand Horses Hall.

Jiang Tianling and Fang Yuncheng were sent to report to the officials, while Ba Xi and Qi Delong acted as lookouts. Inside, Jiang Baiyu and Shui Wuxia witnessed Ma Ru Long testing drugs on live humans. They intervened and were quickly surrounded. Jiang Baiyu scattered silver notes, distracting the guards and allowing Jiang Tianling and the officials to arrive and arrest Ma Ru Long and his men.

The Prefect assured them that with the evidence and eyewitness accounts, Ma Ru Long's conviction was certain, and a thorough investigation would be conducted. Afterward, Jiang Baiyu reported the case to his instructor, Hou Chang'an. He explained that the evidence and support from Chong'an's top pharmacists and doctors would ensure Ma Ru Long's conviction. Hou Chang'an, despite his annoyance at their risky actions, acknowledged their thorough investigation and granted them a few days off.

Shui Wuxia, noticing a daisy bracelet on Ma Ru Long's drug package, wondered if it was connected to her late brother. Ba Xi reassured her that it was a good sign, confirming they were on the right path to exposing Ma Ru Long's schemes. Zhe Zhi noticed Jiang Baiyu's unusual happiness and suspected a romantic development with Shui Wuxia. Jiang Baiyu shyly admitted he had kissed her, evading Zhe Zhi's eager questions.

He then asked Zhe Zhi to help him find someone to customize a replacement for a lost bracelet from a matching pair he had bought. Ba Xi was also happy to hear about the blossoming romance between Shui Wuxia and Shen Qingli. Old Madam Jiang, having seen the growing affection between Jiang Baiyu and Shui Wuxia, called them to her chambers.

She presented betrothal gifts from the Jiang family: an ancient sandalwood comb, a round bronze mirror, silver scissors from Bing Zhou City, and ancient coins from the Western Regions. Jiang Baiyu, surprised, asked who the gifts were for, and Old Madam Jiang replied, "You two."
