Ming Yi, accompanied by Buxiu and others, rushed to Yaoguang Palace where guards initially blocked their entry. Ming Yi urgently explained her purpose, stating that if she wished to harm Ji Bozai, she would have had countless opportunities before now. Buxiu intervened, pleading with the Emperor to let Fairy Ming Yi in, revealing that Ji Bozai's spiritual veins were shattered and his pulse was faint.

Ming Yi then directly told the Emperor that she was the only one who could save the Crown Prince. After the Emperor, informed of Ji Bozai's critical condition, permitted her entry, he sternly reminded Ming Yi that Ji Bozai had promised to sever ties with his past, which was why he had pardoned her previous transgressions. He instructed her not to return to Yaoguang Mountain after this visit.

Inside, Ming Yi instructed Buxiu and Twenty-Seven to guard the door and keep Ji Bozai's state a secret. Ming Yi found Ji Bozai pale and weak. Buxiu explained that the Golden Millet Dream Ji Bozai took previously was incomplete due to the missing Diwu tree's core, only temporarily suppressing the poison and leaving him vulnerable to relapse.

He further revealed that Fairy Bo had refined a complete Golden Millet Dream before her death, but Ji Bozai had intentionally not taken it, instead using it as bait to expose his enemies. His current Heavenly Grief relapse was a consequence of exhausting his spiritual power to re-refine the Golden Millet Dream and forcing open his Spirit Well to save Ming Yi.

Seeing his critical condition, Ming Yi bit her lip and extracted her heart's blood to suppress the Heavenly Grief, stabilizing Ji Bozai's breath and allowing him to regain consciousness. Ji Bozai, upon seeing her sacrifice, questioned how much heart's blood she had left to give. Ming Yi tearfully retorted, asking if he ever considered her feelings, witnessing him in such a state.

She confronted him about giving her the Golden Millet Dream despite knowing he would relapse, and for concealing his condition, especially since the Diwu tree's core—essential for a complete Golden Millet Dream—was still unfound. Ji Bozai tried to silence her, but Ming Yi continued, lamenting that she once thought she would be forever trapped as Ming Xian, unable to truly love, but he had changed everything for her. She refused to stand by and watch him die.

Ji Bozai gently told her she had already done enough, embracing her as she expressed her fear of never seeing him again. He softly reassured her that he was fine now. Meanwhile, Chao Yuan, formerly known as Situ Ling, reported to Chao Heng, revealing he had used the vitality of countless beings to cultivate the Diwu tree's core.

Chao Heng inquired how Chao Yuan, knowing Ji Bozai's cautious nature, managed to get close enough to use a winged leech to trigger Ji Bozai's Heavenly Grief relapse. Chao Yuan explained that Ji Bozai's weakness was love, specifically his love for Ming Xian. Chao Heng found it laughable that the Crown Prince of Yaoguang Mountain would fall for Ming Xian, who had usurped his position.

Chao Yuan subtly countered, noting that in Chao Heng's long life, all emotions must seem trivial. Chao Heng then demanded the Diwu tree, promising Chao Yuan a share to help him achieve his long-held desire for spiritual veins. Chao Yuan, however, demanded the title of Crown Prince of Zhushui Spiritual State. Enraged, Chao Heng refused and tried to kill him to retrieve the Diwu tree, but Chao Yuan revealed he had implanted the Diwu tree's core in his own heart.

He attacked Chao Heng with the hidden winged leech, devastating his spiritual veins and century of cultivation, remarking that if Chao Heng had hesitated even for a moment, he wouldn't have acted. Chao Heng, betrayed, likened Chao Yuan to a woman from his past who also betrayed him. Threatened by Chao Yuan, Chao Heng revealed a dark secret from his past.

He spoke of a woman he loved, Lin Ziyao, who convinced him to form a Heartbond Array, claiming it would help them rule the Six Realms. In reality, it was a trap designed to seal the netherbeasts. She betrayed him, intending for them both to perish because of his inhumane actions, which led him to kill her and sacrifice her to the Sky-Swallowing Array, vowing never to trust emotion again.

He declared that to achieve true dominion, one must cast aside all emotion. Chao Yuan, unmoved, declared that he had already implanted the Golden Millet Dream within himself and his brother Chao Yan was dead, making him Chao Heng's only remaining son. He demanded to know Chao Heng's ultimate plan for controlling the Six Realms, promising to spare his life in exchange for the truth.

After hearing Chao Heng's tale, Chao Yuan coldly told his father to rest, affirming that he would not kill him. He asserted that he understood Chao Heng's past actions, but unlike him, emotion did not make him weak; it made him stronger. Soon after, Zhushui Spiritual State publicly announced an exhibition of the Diwu tree at Zhushui Palace to celebrate Prince Chao Yuan's enthronement.

She Tianlin, seeing Ming Yi's distress, tried to dissuade her from going, recognizing it as a trap set by Chao Yuan, who knew the Diwu tree was the final catalyst for the Golden Millet Dream. However, Ming Yi was resolute, declaring that even if it was a deadly trap, she had to go to save Ji Bozai.

Ji Bozai, understanding Chao Yuan's true intention was to capture Ming Yi, proposed a plan to Ming Yi and her companions: he would disguise himself as Ming Yi to meet Chao Yuan and buy time while the real Ming Yi searched Zhushui Palace for the Diwu tree. Ming Yi worried about his already compromised state due to the Heavenly Grief, but Ji Bozai reassured her.

In Zhushui Palace, Chao Yuan confronted Ji Bozai, who was disguised as Ming Yi and wearing a wedding gown. Chao Yuan questioned "Ming Yi's" indifferent attitude, expressing his pain that she showed him no affection despite his deep feelings. He explained he had orchestrated Ji Bozai's relapse and used the Diwu tree as bait because he knew Ji Bozai was "Ming Yi's" weakness. He admitted that he desired their wedding more than eliminating a rival.

Ji Bozai, still disguised, sarcastically agreed to marry him for the Diwu tree, offering to marry him as many times as he wished, but also demanded the title of Crown Prince of Zhushui Spiritual State as part of the deal, further probing Chao Yuan's true motivations. Chao Yuan confessed that "Ming Yi" had become immensely important to him and that with him, she would no longer need to fight for recognition or fear abandonment.

Ji Bozai countered that such actions did not constitute love, as true love would not involve traps or hurting those one cared about. Chao Yuan, growing agitated, repeatedly questioned why "Ming Yi" cared for Ji Bozai and could not love him instead. Just as Chao Yuan, still believing it was Ming Yi, revealed the Diwu tree in his heart and asked if "they" should continue, Ji Bozai revealed his true form. The real Ming Yi then arrived.

Chao Yuan was stunned and heartbroken, realizing he had been tricked by the disguise. He pieced together that Ji Bozai had given his only cure, the Golden Millet Dream, to Ming Yi, leaving himself vulnerable all along. He declared that Ji Bozai and Ming Yi were a perfect match, an observation that pained him more than being killed.

In a fit of despair, Chao Yuan violently carved the Diwu tree's core from his own chest, intending to destroy it before their eyes. Ming Yi quickly seized the Diwu tree's core. Chao Yuan lunged to stop them, but Ji Bozai, weakened by his recent Heavenly Grief relapse, struggled. Ming Yi, however, swiftly defeated Chao Yuan.

Before leaving, she healed him, acknowledging his newfound strength and spiritual veins, but lamented that he had chosen to become Chao Yuan, losing his true self. She declared their paths diverged, and should they meet again, she would show no mercy. Buxiu and She Tianlin, having dealt with the guards, waited outside for them. Back at their residence, She Tianlin successfully refined the Golden Millet Dream.

Buxiu prepared to implant it into Ji Bozai, explaining that the process was excruciating, like being flayed alive. Ming Yi then realized that when Ji Bozai had tricked her into taking the Golden Millet Dream previously, she had felt no pain because he had borne all the suffering for her during the refining process. Buxiu, seeing Ji Bozai's renewed pain, decided to reveal the truth, explaining that Ji Bozai had never truly wanted to leave Ming Yi.

He had learned the secret of the Sky-Swallowing Array and planned to sacrifice himself to destroy it, using cold words to sever their bond so she wouldn't be burdened. After Ji Bozai awoke from the ordeal, Ming Yi confronted him, demanding to know why he had concealed his suffering from her and why he had made the decision to sacrifice himself to destroy the Sky-Swallowing Array alone.

She reminded him that his earlier attempt to save her by forcing open his Spirit Well had caused his Heavenly Grief relapse, making him too weak to even fight Chao Yuan's winged leech. Ming Yi furiously asked if he intended to keep these secrets until his dying day. Ji Bozai, feigning indifference, stated he had made his decision long ago and saw no need to tell her.

Meanwhile, She Tianlin and Buxiu, sensing the tension, made an exaggerated excuse about needing to reheat medicine to give Ming Yi and Ji Bozai privacy, despite She Tianlin's vocal protests and desire to protect his "daughter." Ji Bozai, trying to maintain his stoic facade, was visibly affected by Ming Yi's tearful accusation about how she would cope if he went off to die alone. They remained in the room, Ming Yi's eyes brimming with tears, and Ji Bozai pretending to be cold and resolute.
