Love At Night Episode 13 Recap
> Love At Night Recap
Fan Yunxi desperately tried to mediate an intense argument between Xu Qingyou and her father. Xu Qingyou revealed her long-held belief that her father's arrangements for her and her sibling, Xu Wei, throughout their lives stemmed from his vanity and desire for prestige. She firmly declared that she would not marry Fan Yunxi, apologizing for disappointing her father in this matter before leaving. Although visibly upset, Xu Qingyou's father remained silent, confirming her accusations.
He then turned to Fan Yunxi, apologizing that his attempt to bring the two together had ended so poorly. Fan Yunxi, however, reassured him that he would always consider him his mentor, regardless of whether he became his son-in-law, promising not to disappoint him concerning Xu Qingyou. Meanwhile, Lin Siyu and Wang Ji, hoping to gauge the true nature of Xu Qingyou's and Mo Lingze's relationship, set up a Star Tent, adorned with colorful lights, to create a romantic ambiance.
After some humorous struggles with the tent's "no entry" rules, they realized neither Xu Qingyou nor Mo Lingze had arrived. As heavy rain began to fall, they sought shelter inside the tent. Wang Ji, recalling a childhood memory of a sudden downpour and how he comforted his sister, gave Lin Siyu his jacket.
Lin Siyu, in turn, tried to find romance in the rain, playfully pointing out how raindrops could be imagined as stars, like the Big Dipper or rhinestones shimmering under the streetlights, and a unique feeling began to develop between them. Amidst the downpour, a distraught Xu Qingyou walked aimlessly, overwhelmed by her emotions. Mo Lingze appeared with an umbrella, urging her not to suppress her feelings or try to be strong.
He led her to a public phone booth, revealing it was his childhood secret base where he would confide his worries. Xu Qingyou, finding solace in the idea, stepped inside and called her eighteen-year-old self. She poured out her heart, speaking of how everyone had praised her for being well-behaved and obedient, yet those were the adjectives she despised most.
She confessed her desire to make her own choices in college, work, and marriage, lamenting that being herself seemed to be a privilege reserved only for children, as growing up meant losing that right. She questioned if living by others' expectations truly counted as her own life, admitting that she had little happy news to share with her past self. As she emerged, Mo Lingze gently pulled her into a comforting embrace, his eyes filled with concern.
Elsewhere, a dejected Fan Yunxi sought refuge at a bar, drinking heavily. The bar owner, Xiaowei, instead of discouraging him, offered him more whiskey, advising him to let go after this night. Fan Yunxi, however, remained resolute, stating that he always got what he wanted and this time would be no exception, refusing to give up. Xiaowei simply reiterated his advice to let it go.
Later, Xu Qingyou confessed to Mo Lingze her deepest fears: fear of cold, darkness, danger, and the unexpected twists life often presented. Mo Lingze acknowledged her fears, recalling how she had once called him dangerous and wished he would stay away from her life, yet she had also mentioned that life was composed of accidents. He then declared that he had been patiently waiting for her decision but would wait no longer.
He invited her to a performance at his bar at nine o'clock the following night, leaving the choice entirely up to her: if she had found her answer, she should come, otherwise, she need not. He told her he was having a special necklace, his one-of-a-kind "Kepler's Supernova," prepared for her. Xu Qingyou, using Mo Lingze's suggested method of flipping a coin to make a decision, eventually resolved to go to the bar.
That evening, Mo Lingze performed on stage, playing the guitar and singing, his gaze constantly fixed on the VIP reserved seat and the entrance, eagerly awaiting her arrival. He had reserved a special seat for her and was looking forward to seeing his "Kepler's Supernova." However, despite his confident anticipation, Xu Qingyou never appeared, leaving him deeply disappointed. Unbeknownst to him, Xu Qingyou had indeed arrived early, but the band was still rehearsing.
There, she encountered Lin Siyu, who, in a confident display, displayed "Lingze's Peach Blossom Treasure," a book containing names of women Mo Lingze had dated. Lin Siyu boldly asserted her unique and special place in Mo Lingze's life, claiming that regardless of how many women came and went in his life, his heart would always remain hers. This encounter ultimately deterred Xu Qingyou from staying.
The next day, Mo Lingze, still perplexed by Xu Qingyou's absence, messaged her, asking why she hadn't come and noting her "prudery female white-collar" traits like avoiding challenges and escaping. Receiving no reply, he confronted her at work. Xu Qingyou, appearing tired with dark circles under her eyes, maintained her distance.
She expressed gratitude for his past help in professional matters but insisted on maintaining a strictly professional relationship outside of work, stating that a boundary had always existed between them. Distracted by colleagues needing help with various work tasks, such as a leave request for Yu Ming, a live broadcast script, and checking a broadcast list, Xu Qingyou remained evasive. Later that day, feeling heartbroken, Xu Qingyou went drinking with Fang Qi and quickly became inebriated.
While they discussed her brother's request regarding Fang Qi's hobbies, their conversation quickly turned to Mo Lingze. Fang Qi complained about Mo Lingze's personality, referring to him as "Poker Face" and mentioning a "roster full of girls' names" he allegedly kept. Xu Qingyou, distraught, recalled Mo Lingze's "labels" for her, such as being a "prudery female white-collar" who avoids challenges.
Fang Qi echoed her sentiments, mocking Mo Lingze's arrogance, suggesting he believed his good looks entitled him to choose any woman. Xu Qingyou lamented her romantic misfortune, likening it to a scratch-off ticket that still said "thank you" despite her initial hopes for a prize. Fang Qi, exasperated, advised her to forget Mo Lingze, asserting he was not suitable for her and that she shouldn't suffer any more "silent losses" because of him.
Despite her heavy intoxication, Xu Qingyou insisted on sending Fang Qi home, refusing Fang Qi's offer to accompany her instead. In the taxi, a giggling Xu Qingyou asked the driver if he understood love, only to be met with warnings about vomiting in the car. Meanwhile, Mo Lingze was at home, releasing his emotions by playing a mobile game, seemingly discussing Xu Qingyou's behavior in the context of the game.
His phone kept ringing, and the bar owner, Bobo, eventually brought it to him, having noticed it ringing constantly. Fang Qi, having called Mo Lingze about Xu Qingyou's state, urged him to come. Mo Lingze then rushed out to find her. Xu Qingyou, having caused a disturbance for the taxi driver, next ended up at an amusement park, causing further commotion. The exasperated security guard, seeing Mo Lingze approach, saw him as a savior.
Knowing Xu Qingyou's chaotic drunken nature, Mo Lingze initially feigned ignorance, claiming not to know her and attempting to leave. However, the security guard held him firm, imploring him to handle the situation before opportunistically slipping away. The security guard lectured Mo Lingze, saying that while quarrels between young people were understandable, it was irresponsible to let a girl drink alone, and advised him that a man needed more than just good looks to keep a woman's heart. He then urged Mo Lingze to take Xu Qingyou home quickly.
