Thirteen, who had been taught the Whale-Devouring Great Technique by Huayan, tried to practice with a basket of pancakes in Fuyun Hall. Despite her efforts to perfect the position and hand movements, she found herself unable to succeed and, frustrated, she simply began to eat the pancakes voraciously. This unusual sight was witnessed by Yunfeng and Siming, who had come to visit Jiuchen.
Yunfeng immediately teased Thirteen, questioning if the Heavenly Emperor had cut off the food supply to Fuyun Hall. Siming, amused by her unconventional eating, remarked that Fairy Shisan was truly extraordinary and admirable for her heroic spirit, even while eating. Yunfeng then reported to Jiuchen that the demonic aura in Dark Capital Mountain was too dense for him to enter directly.
He had, however, gathered intelligence: on a past occasion, the Lieyi Tribesmen had made a blood oath, transforming into vengeful souls, and escaped from Spirit-Binding Abyss. They rescued Zhonghao, who was on the brink of death, and together entered Dark Capital Mountain. Jiuchen was surprised to hear Zhonghao was there, revealing that he had only encountered the Demon Lord during his own visit to Dark Capital Mountain.
He confirmed that the Demon Lord was awake but remained trapped within the seal with incomplete power, unable to break free. Crucially, the Demon Lord's primordial spiritual energy was not within his own body. Yunfeng immediately wondered if Lingxi was connected, but Jiuchen stated he sensed no demonic aura on her.
Siming, overhearing their suspicions about Lingxi, expressed his disbelief, highly praising her as fair like snow and jade, adorable, smart, kind, energetic, clever, natural, and unrestrained, believing there must be a misunderstanding. Suddenly, a loud bang rattled the entire Observational Cloud Palace, startling Siming and Yunfeng, who feared the God of Heavenly Thunder had attacked. Jiuchen, however, rubbed his forehead in exasperation, wryly noting that the commotion was caused by the very person Siming had just so lavishly praised.
Meanwhile, Thirteen and Huayan rushed to the alchemy room, finding it in disarray. Amidst the mess, Lingxi proudly held up two black, egg-sized pills, exclaiming that she had finally succeeded. Huayan warned Lingxi against rashly consuming any random pill, stressing that if the refinement process was flawed, it could become a toxic concoction. This warning reminded Lingxi of something important. She asked Thirteen if the Full Moon Spring in High Clear Sky was truly a source of extremely cold water.
Thirteen confirmed it, recounting how an immortal child from Wanling Park once fell into the spring and almost lost his life in mere moments, suffering from a cold illness similar to Jiuchen's. The Heavenly Emperor had then assigned the child to care for the Zhuri Bird, hoping its warmth could dispel the cold. Thirteen even wondered if raising Zhuri Birds in their own garden could help Jiuchen.
That night, Lingxi secretly took her newly refined pills to the Full Moon Spring. Unbeknownst to her, Jiuchen sensed her departure and silently followed her. At the spring, Lingxi tested the water, finding it indeed bone-chilling. But for Jiuchen, she steeled herself, swallowed one of her pills, removed her outer garments, and plunged into the icy water. Jiuchen, who had been observing, swiftly flew over and, using his magic, pulled her out.
As soon as she was on shore, Lingxi, disregarding the cold, eagerly informed Jiuchen that her medicine was effective, boasting that she did not die after jumping in. Jiuchen then realized she had ventured out in the middle of the night to test the medicine for him. Impressed by her determination, Lingxi asked if he believed she had talent in refining medicines, as she had succeeded on her seventh attempt.
Jiuchen, expressing concern for her well-being in the cold, urged her to take care of herself first. The following day, Lingxi excitedly announced to Thirteen and Huayan that the medicine she made for Jiuchen was successful, offering to create any elixirs they might need in the future, from extending life to enhancing cultivation or healing. Huayan was overjoyed at the prospect of no longer needing to rely on the Yaowang Cave for medicine. Thirteen, however, remained skeptical.
Lingxi, undeterred, produced a medical book, assuring them she had meticulously followed its instructions. Yunfeng, drawn by their conversation, noticed an illustration of a Yanxin Flower in Lingxi's book, finding it strangely familiar. Lingxi explained that the Yanxin Flower was the most crucial ingredient for Cold Dispelling Pellets, but it was incredibly rare, blooming only once every sixty years.
It had to be picked immediately after blossoming and processed with special techniques within half a day, or its potency would be lost. Since she had insufficient time for her current batch, she had substituted it with the tail feather of a Zhuri Bird, acknowledging its much weaker effect compared to the Yanxin Flower. Upon hearing this, Yunfeng suddenly realized that Qingyao had been searching for the Yanxin Flower.
He promptly rushed to Yaowang Cave but was intercepted by a medicine child. Coincidentally, Qingyao had just finished refining a new Cold Dispelling Pellet and, upon hearing Yunfeng's commotion outside, asked him to deliver it to Jiuchen. Lingxi brought Qingyao's newly refined Cold Dispelling Pellet to Jiuchen. Remembering Lingxi's daring act of testing her own medicine in the Full Moon Spring, Jiuchen, moved by her sincerity, prompted her for her own medicine.
Lingxi, delighted by his apparent trust, swiftly returned to retrieve the huge, egg-sized pill she had made. Jiuchen's eyes widened in surprise at its immense size. Lingxi quickly explained that as it was her first attempt at alchemy, she couldn't refine and condense the pill as skillfully as her senior sister, but she assured him of its good efficacy. Jiuchen, however, was hesitant to trust her medicine and decided to take Qingyao's instead.
Lingxi, unwilling to let him back out, swiftly snatched the pill away, then presented him with a knife and chopsticks, suggesting he cut the large pill into smaller pieces for easier consumption before taking her leave. Jiuchen, left with little choice, reluctantly complied with her wishes. Meanwhile, a Qingluan from Wanling Park coincidentally learned that Xiao Bai, Jiuchen's dog, was still in the Heavenly Palace. The Qingluan devised a plan to lure Xiao Bai away from Fuyun Hall.
Being merely a mortal dog, Xiao Bai was no match for Qingluan's repeated tricks and soon succumbed, becoming gravely ill. Lingxi, having not seen Xiao Bai for an entire day, initially thought he had simply wandered off and began searching frantically. To her despair, she eventually found Xiao Bai's lifeless body. Overwhelmed with grief, Lingxi tenderly wrapped Xiao Bai's body in her clothes and carried it to the Immortal Cleansing Pond.
She recalled stories of immortals who, having committed grave errors, were cast into this pond to have their immortal bones cleansed, forcing them to return to the mortal realm. Since Xiao Bai originated from the lower realm, Lingxi decided to send him back to where he belonged, mournfully remarking on how naive he was to have been tricked.
Upon returning to Fuyun Hall, Lingxi confined herself to her room, choosing to hide the truth from Thirteen and Huayan to spare them the sorrow. Unaware of Xiao Bai's fate, Thirteen and Huayan searched for him, noting Lingxi’s unusual quietness and seclusion, speculating she was simply absorbed in alchemy.
They also discussed their disappointment with Yuan Tong, who, despite her previous diligence in visiting Jiuchen, had vanished after his confinement and was now seen closely associating with the God of Heavenly Thunder. A few days later, Immortal Lord Puhua, Immortal Lord Baishanxian, and Siming arrived at Fuyun Hall to deliver a decree.
They informed Jiuchen that he was summoned for a public trial at Purple Cloud Platform in three days at 9-11 am, with the Heavenly Emperor and all Supreme Lords of High Clear Sky in attendance. Thirteen indignantly challenged their right to publicly try Jiuchen.
Immortal Lord Puhua sternly justified the trial, stating that Jiuchen had privately destroyed war reports, leading to tens of thousands of immortals in the Heavenly Palace jointly petitioning for a re-trial of the Dark Capital Mountain case. As the official in charge of heavenly punishments, he asserted it was his duty.
After Immortal Lord Puhua and Immortal Lord Baishanxian departed, Siming reluctantly conveyed even more unsettling news: the God of Heavenly Thunder had successfully petitioned the Heavenly Emperor to welcome Yuanzheng's remnant treasures into the Merit Hall on the same day as Jiuchen's trial, and concurrently remove Jiuchen's Dragon Tooth Armor from the hall. To their dismay, the Heavenly Emperor had agreed, although the final decision on the armor removal would be made after Jiuchen's public trial.
Thirteen was enraged by this injustice, but Jiuchen remained stoic, silently turning and re-entering the Observational Cloud Palace, closing his door behind him. Meanwhile, Lingxi, deeply trusting Jiuchen's character and seeing his silence in the face of accusations, resolved to do something to prove his innocence.
She recalled the day Yuan Tong tricked Thirteen into giving her the brazier used to burn the war reports; Lingxi had secretly used magic to collect some ashes that drifted away with the wind, now determined to use them to clear Jiuchen's name. Meanwhile, Ling Yue had been consumed by her ongoing search for her daughter for 50,000 years, a quest that continued to fuel her nightmares.
Her attendant, Grandmother Shi, questioned why Ling Yue didn't seek confirmation from the State Preceptor, but Ling Yue expressed her distrust, recalling his past deceptions. Ling Yue clung to the belief that her daughter was still alive because the Immortal Knot she had personally woven was in his possession, and she was certain she could not have been mistaken about it. Ling Yue’s present daughter, Qing’er, visited her, bringing soup and showing concern for her mother’s well-being.
Ling Yue also inquired about another attendant, Lan’er, who had been missing for several days. Jing Xiu received a report that Ling Yue had left her palace with only Grandmother Shi, dismissing her other guards. Though Jing Xiu decided not to follow them, he confirmed that he had placed a "Thousand Li Fragrance" on Grandmother Shi, allowing him to track her if necessary.
Ling Yue and Grandmother Shi arrived at the South Pole Immortal Continent to consult the Old Man of South Pole. He confirmed he had promised Ling Yue this divination five hundred years prior and had anticipated her arrival. He explained that Ling Yue’s child belonged to the Ling Clan, possessing a long lifespan, making the divination immensely taxing. He could only perform such a prophecy once every sixty years, and it absolutely could not be interrupted.
He instructed his disciple, Qin Yuan, to protect him during the process. Jing Xiu, who had secretly infiltrated the area and was hiding above, overheard the Old Man of South Pole declare that Ling Yue's daughter was indeed alive. As Jing Xiu processed this revelation, he spotted a familiar little phoenix nearby and immediately recognized Lingxi.
Lingxi had come to the South Pole Immortal Continent in search of the Water Moon Cauldron, but her clumsy actions quickly led Qin Yuan to discover her presence. In a panic, Lingxi stumbled into Jing Xiu's hiding spot. Her eyes lit up upon seeing him, and she swiftly removed her veil, urgently pleading for his help against Qin Yuan. As Jing Xiu and Qin Yuan engaged in battle, Lingxi inadvertently stumbled and flew into a concealed mountain cave. Upon entering, she found herself in a dimly lit space with a circular platform in the center, upon which lay a strange, liquid-like substance.
