Ling Yue awakened in Tianxi Palace, and Grandmother Shi recounted how Ling Xi had tirelessly nursed her back to health after enduring hardships and dispelling the demonic aura. Ling Xi had served her tea, cleaned her, and cooked her medicines, refusing to leave her side. Ling Yue was deeply moved, tears filling her eyes as she expressed her disbelief at such a reunion, a fortune she never expected.
However, she quickly instructed Grandmother Shi not to reveal her awakening, fearing that Jing Xiu would be the first to kill her if he knew. Just as she spoke, Jing Xiu arrived, entering the palace with his men. With their pretenses dropped, Ling Yue questioned why Jing Xiu hadn't killed her while she was unconscious. Jing Xiu explained that the reasons were complex; if it weren't necessary, he would not have taken this step.
He revealed his original intention was for the witch doctor to induce a perpetual slumber for Ling Yue, but Ling Xi had discovered the plot, forcing the current deadly confrontation. Accepting her fate, Ling Yue expressed her only regret: leaving her two daughters. She implored Jing Xiu not to harm them after her death. Jing Xiu promised that with his vengeance complete, he would ensure peace for the Shanling Tribe and care for them.
When Jing Xiu moved to take Ling Yue's life bead, Grandmother Shi, unable to bear the sight, tried to intervene, but Jing Xiu's subordinate, Black Chi, killed her with a single palm strike. Witnessing this, a grieving Ling Yue cursed Jing Xiu, prophesying that he would one day suffer the consequences of his actions, before handing over her life bead. At that moment, Ling Xi returned with freshly brewed medicine, calling for Grandmother Shi.
Hearing her mother's voice reply, Ling Xi rushed inside. After tens of thousands of years, mother and daughter were finally reunited, embracing and weeping. Jing Xiu, feigning concern, warned Ling Xi that her mother was too weak for such excitement. After checking Ling Yue's pulse and finding it disordered, Ling Xi grew worried. Jing Xiu suggested that her Senior Sister, Qingyao, should examine Ling Yue.
Ling Xi agreed, entrusting her mother to Jing Xiu’s care while she went to the Peach Forest. Knowing it was their final farewell, Ling Yue tearfully urged her daughter to be safe. After Ling Xi departed, Jing Xiu reiterated his promise to care for her daughters and bring prosperity to the tribe. He then destroyed Ling Yue's life bead, killing her instantly.
News of the State Master's death spread, and Princess Baoqing, who had confined herself to her room, cried inconsolably. Ling Xi returned to find her mother lifeless. She refused to accept her mother’s death, fiercely preventing anyone from moving the body and insisting Ling Yue was merely in a state of suspended animation.
Jing Xiu arrived and claimed Ling Yue had died from the lingering effects of the Spirit Absorption Technique, which caused her soul to disperse despite his efforts to save her with pills. Ling Xi, however, insisted on waiting for Qingyao to examine the body before any funeral arrangements were made. After Jing Xiu left, Ling Xi, suspecting foul play, dispatched Huayan to find Chengyan, as Qingyao was in the mortal world, and have him urgently summon her.
The Heavenly Palace was notified, and Siming informed Jiu Chen, who immediately left his seclusion at the Polar Abyss and rushed to Tianxi Palace. He found Ling Xi kneeling by her mother’s bed and embraced her, holding her as she wept until she fell asleep from exhaustion. Qingyao then arrived and examined Ling Yue’s body, confirming that there were no signs of poison or external injury and that she had died from the complete dissipation of her spiritual energy.
Jiu Chen remained suspicious, arguing that her energy could have been drained by other means. He asked about Ling Yue's attendant, Grandmother Shi, only to be told she had fallen ill and died shortly after Ling Yue. Upon learning from a guard that Jing Xiu's aide, Chibi, had visited Grandmother Shi, Jiu Chen’s suspicions were confirmed. Jiu Chen immediately confronted Jing Xiu, accusing him of murdering Ling Yue and silencing Grandmother Shi.
Jing Xiu did not deny it, defiantly asking for proof. Enraged, the two fought. Having advanced his cultivation, Jiu Chen easily overpowered Jing Xiu and his men, vowing to make him pay once he found evidence. When Ling Xi awoke, she learned Jiu Chen had gone to confront Jing Xiu. Jiu Chen soon returned and relayed Qingyao’s findings.
Now calmer, Ling Xi agreed with the diagnosis but noted that her mother, though weak, had not seemed on the verge of death. She reasoned that since Jing Xiu was a High God, no one could have harmed Ling Yue under his watch, making him the prime suspect if it was murder.
Jiu Chen then revealed that he had seen Chibi acting suspiciously at the Spirit-Binding Abyss, speculating that his own arrival at that time might have saved Ling Yue from an earlier death. Acknowledging Jing Xiu's cunning, Ling Xi found herself questioning his motive. Jiu Chen advised her to focus on the funeral for now, assuring her the truth would eventually come to light. Ling Yue was laid to rest with full honors.
Ling Xi remained deeply saddened, wondering if her mother was in the netherworld, drinking from the River of Oblivion and forgetting her. Jiu Chen comforted her, and when he asked if she would leave with him, Ling Xi refused. With the State Master's position vacant and the court in turmoil, she felt she had to stay to navigate the impending political storm and uncover the truth behind her mother's death.
Following Ling Yue's death, various clan elders submitted memorials endorsing Jing Xiu as the new State Master, while some recommended Princess Baoqing. When Chibi reported this, an unpleased Jing Xiu asked if anyone had recommended Ling Xi. Chibi explained that Ling Xi's position was too new and unrecognized, and without Jing Xiu's backing, her princess status was meaningless. Black Chi urged Jing Xiu to seize the opportunity and ascend the throne, but Jing Xiu only smiled.
Meanwhile, in the desolate wilderness, the Demon Lord began guiding Yuan Tong in demonic cultivation. Though her immortal skeleton was gone, her vital energy channels remained, providing a foundation. He promised she would gain great power and, once her training was complete, could leave to find the new Demon Lord. With Jiu Chen gone, Qingyao stayed to support Ling Xi. Ling Xi told Qingyao that Jiu Chen suspected Jing Xiu.
Huayan passionately defended Jing Xiu, recalling how he had sacrificed his life bead for Ling Xi. Qingyao, drawing from her experiences in the mortal realm, countered that the pursuit of power is a poison that can drive anyone, even family, to betrayal and murder. Agreeing, Ling Xi decided to observe who would try to seize power. Just then, Baoqing, who had been tormented by guilt and nightmares, emerged.
Seeing Ling Xi, she lashed out, questioning her legitimacy as a princess and accusing her of being a jinx who caused the deaths of both her father and mother. Fed up, Ling Xi asserted her authority as a High God, reminding the Earth Immortal Baoqing of the hierarchy of power. She warned that her patience had run out and that she would not tolerate any more disrespect.
